We've been taking our dog, Higgins, here for over a year now! We've done daycare and occasional boarding. Bibi at the front desk knows him by name every time he walks in and gives updates about what she saw him get into during the day and what friends he made. They send report cards with pictures out after each session and even threw in a free photo shoot on Halloween this year. So cute! Higgins loooovvess coming here and is always returned a very happy and tired boy. They treat him like family and we are so thankful to Barking Hound for keeping us at ease while we are at work or away! Brought my (wavy) Golden Doodle "Olivia" to Cheshire Br. location in a.m. for a full groom.Talked to groomer & showed her what I wanted. She seemed to understand clearly. I had also detangled my dog the night before and groomer said she could go straight to the bath. I went to get her in afternoon; it was very busy, people waiting, dogs being brought out. Eva, the groomer brought Livvy out she was so excited I couldn't get a good look at her but she looked "shaggy". At home this co called groom was horrible: the clipper work was uneven, bald spots, nails weren't trimmed, NO SCISSOR WORK WAS DONE AT ALL. NO hygiene trims were done. The groomer is TOTALLY unfit and unskilled. I want a refund!! And foolish me I even tipped her. read more

I really wanted to like Barkinghound, I grew up with the guy who opened it. However, their response to a recent incident changed my mind. My dog, who's about 20lbs soaking wet, was chasing a dog in the play yard. The dog did not want to be chased so the other dog bit my dog, which called for multiple stitches and a $500 vet bill. This was not a nip / correction. I really assumed somebody from the facility would call the next day to see how Moose was doing... I heard nothing, for day. Only after I called to see if there was any chance of some sort of compensation for the bill, I got a call back. I was told the incident was my dogs fault, it would be waste of time to try and reach out to their office to even try. I was offered store credit.... The response to the incident was just overall disappointing. We'll find another day care. read more

So we had very mixed feelings about doggy daycare. Now we will never bring our dog back here again. First time we boarded him they fed him half of what he should have been fed and I know because I measured exactly what he would need to be fed the whole time and got half the food back! So they say sorry and blah blah blah. We decided to take Winston to daycare and every time he left with something. Kennel cough, red feet, smelling of dog pee, etc etc. this past Tuesday we took him and when he got home he had infected red feet. I emailed them to make sure he got breaks and they said yeah he did and they told me that he couldn't have gotten infected/burned feet and nails to the quick from daycare... We went to the vet and $190 later we got antibiotics and liquid for his feet. Oh and the vet asked if the daycare at least gravel or some type of rock... BINGO. read more

We have taken our puppy Sadie to Barking Hound Village 2-3 days a week for doggy daycare since February, and have nothing but positive things to say about it. The prices are much more reasonable than other facilities, and is open later than most daycares which is nice for evening plans or unexpected late nights at work. There is an online camera for the play area, and pictures are posted on their Facebook page every day. She always leaves happy and tired from playing with her pals! The staff is friendly and courteous, and gives us updates on Sadie's progress since she was quite shy when we started bringing her. We've boarded her once, and had such peace of mind knowing she was in good hands and staying somewhere that she felt comfortable. This is hands down the worst daycare I have had my dog attend. If you watch the cameras at this location at all, you will understand why, but I've summarized my experiences below. Actual Playtime: Your dog is "phased in/out" with different groups and is kept in a kennel for the times that he/she is not playing outside. There was a day that my dog was outside playing for a total of 2 hours during an 8 hour day! Not only does this cause a dog anxiety, it is a waste of money. Employee Behavior: I witnessed an employee throw a bucket of water that she filled up INTO my dog's face while he was playing in a group of 4-5 other dogs. I happened to be taking a video of this incident. I was also told by my Vet Tech that used to work at this location that there was a puppy left outside in 30 degree weather overnight because they "forgot" about him. Luckily this puppy was okay, but the owner was NOT notified about this. Timeout: If your dog is acting out, which happens to almost every dog, they will be put in timeout for what they tell you is "5 mins" but I watched them leave my dog in timeout for over 30 mins. During this time, my dog could stand to see the other dogs playing and he was in a surrounded wooden gate area. Management: I called the management team to address these issues and they assured me they would "look into" this and call me back. Sure enough, I called back to look into this, and followed up with multiple emails with no responses. Overall: I have tried multiple daycares in the area as each have different things to offer, and this is by far the WORST. Not only did this cause my dog anxiety and trauma but it took him awhile to be comfortable in a daycare again. If you do choose to send your dog here I urge you to watch the cameras closely. read more

Amazing! Never boarded a dog before and super reluctant to leave my "Homer" for 9 days in an unknown environment. Was referred to Barking Hound Village by a happy customer I met at the dog park. Called ahead and had someone extremely nice patiently walk me through everything. Signed up online with all info, and was happy it was so easy. Booked it. Was recommended to me by staff to bring him in for one free day to get acclimated. He did great, enjoyed the social area, his pen, and the staff. He got a report card too! When I picked him up after the 9 days I'd been gone, he was clearly super happy there. No anxiety. Ate well, played well. I've been using Barking Hound Village on Cheshire Brg for years for over 8 years now. My pets Kyan a German Shepard (who passed at 16 and missed immensely) and currently- Malak a Belgian Shepherd, and Soleil an older min pin. Barking hound village has been consistently awesome over all these years. The little min pin is blind and has special needs. They really take care of her just like she's home. The absolute worst experience of my life. Kept my dogs there for ten days when I had a family passing and had no other choice. They will not answer your phone calls or call you back. Very scary you won't know how your dog is doing. When they do talk to you, they are incredibly rude. Jacob, the manager, is such a mean person. Called me a bad dog father for leaving them there that long. Then the last day, my sweet German Shepherd was HORRIFICALLY attacked by a brand new dog there. They don't even see if dogs are aggressive before they put them in with the rest. They didn't even take him to the vet, just waited for me to come get him. The vet said if it had been any longer they wouldn't have even been able to stitch him up. Over $1000 in vet bills. The next day, they said they would contact me regarding the attack, never heard anything. So I go in, and Jacob says it's in the contract they won't do anything, no reimbursement, no discount or even an apology. I ask why they didn't even call to check up on him. He said he doesn't care about my dog or my problems, then starts yelling at me to leave. Literally screamed at me. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELOVED DOG HERE!!!! They are the worst. *OWNER BEWARE* AFTER BOARDING, I WAS GIVEN BACK MY DOG'S BED SOAKED IN URINE. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. Had I written this review years ago, I would have given 5 stars. Our dog has gone to BHV for years, starting at the Krog Street location. After moving to Piedmont Heights, we began taking him to Cheshire Bridge. We had a good experience there for a while, and from what I knew, Henry enjoyed going. They were always super accommodating and he would come home pooped. Well, this fall I boarded Henry for a short weekend and when I picked him up, his bed was soaked in urine. The staff apologized profusely and stated they did not have time to wash it before I got there. So they gave me his bed back, soaked in pee, in a giant black trash bag. Now.... my dog is nearly four and does not have accidents. And even when he did as a younger pup, it would never be anywhere near his space or sleeping quarters. I find it VERY hard to believe that my dog just happened to have an accident all over his bed - to the point it was soaked - unless there was something seriously wrong here. Afraid, not being taken out enough, or possibly another dog using his bed. Concerned, I talked to the staff, and claimed it was actually not my dog that peed on his bed, but another dog's urine leaked under the "doors" and got onto his bed. OK..... anyway, took my urine bed home and had to toss it. Great. Henry did seem a little sad, his eyes looked a little "lost", but I just figured he was tired. Next trip, I took him back to BHV because I trusted that it was just another pup. I was hoping, just hoping, that it was a fluke mistake and he would have a great time. I can tell you that Henry was definitely not as excited to go as he had been in the past, but went in nonetheless. I was on my honeymoon, so I had my dad pick him up from boarding when they got home from Thanksgiving. Without knowing my prior situation, he called me very concerned upon pick up. He was also given a urine soaked bed, and Henry's blanket with different dog hairs all over it. Supposedly the staff apologized that they didn't have time to wash it (because they had over 300 dogs there- told him this verbatim) and gave him the bed back pee soaked.... AGAIN. At this point, I am incredibly upset and disturbed, and if you're still reading this, I assume you're also a dog owner and would feel the same. I tried multiple times to get in touch with someone and finally got hold of the owner, Matthew, after I was sent an email blast. Matthew tried to blame it on many things, including my dog's temperament which he thought may be unfit for boarding. (WHAT? I've been bringing my dog for years with no issue! Not only that, he has boarded elsewhere and this never happens) He later took that back after talking to to manager that was working that weekend and confirmed my dog's disposition was fine. Blamed the random dog hairs on the dryer, even though the blanket was never washed, and then just kept telling me he didn't know what happened with the urine and he was sure my dog was let out. Whatever. Matt ended up replacing my bed but would not refund any of the funds for the stay. All in all, I am out one dog bed and several hundred dollars throughout these two experiences. More than that, who knows what happened to my poor dog while he was here and if he was even let out to use the restroom enough. RUN RUN RUN! I tried to give his place the benefit of the doubt and use them again, but there is no way these were just two fluke mistakes in a row. Do your research and if you can't find somewhere, try Rover. Read all policies before boarding!!! I have been taking my dogs here for several years. I went to pick them up today after a one night boarding and incurred a "day care fee" and after questioning found out it was due to a new policy that was implemented where you need to have you dog out within a four hour window of what time the dog was dropped off. So for example...if you drop off at 0800 AM Saturday... if you pick them up the following day on Sunday at 100pm (when they open) you get a charge. I clarified that with the person checking me out and he confirmed this to be true. I am disappointed and will most likely take them to another facility as this was not disclosed. I checked on their website and this is not stated on their pricing, however it was listed on a link at the bottom of a page. I do believe they get good care here and the cameras (although not the best quality) make me feel better knowing my dog is getting outdoor time. read more

We just brought our dog for a test day and can canceled the booking right away for the next week. Upon arrival they took out dog right away and brought him inside. They did not even offer a tour. After asking we were allowed to see the premise. We thought our dog is already outside to play - no. They put him in a VERY small cage a few they'll let him run later. There were too many dogs! They were all barking and were not relaxed at all! We picked him up three hours later - at least we was outside for a while. But when we canceled the nights and told her our concerns she did not care at all! We now drive a couple of miles more and bring him to Camp Bow Wow. Had him once in Tampa there for a night - and they were just great! They take care of your dog and learn about him during his first visit. They write down everything and give you a full feedback! My dog was at Barking Hound Village for 5 days, and I feel guilty keeping him there in such conditions. After we took him home we noticed he was limping, licking his paws, and scratching everywhere. After bathing him we noticed his paws were extremely swollen and he had open sores all over his head! The next day we took him to the vet where we found out he had an allergic reaction to something. My dog has NEVER had any of these symptoms before, so it can only be linked back to this place, whether it be the chemicals they use to clean the facility, pebbles in the outdoor space, or giving him the wrong food. Overall I'm extremely disappointed they didn't pay more attention to my dog, and didn't notice he was extremely uncomfortable and developing sores all over his body. Although this is for the original location, my dogs have also been to the Inn and the Lofts locations - always pleased with the outcome. We only use the facility for boarding. On their first visit to BHV, they did go to a day of free daycare for a trial run (to see how they would act around other dogs.) But since then, we have only used them for weekend boarding. Our dogs don't go to daycare. Although BHV is "luxury dog boarding" (not cheap!!), we are always impressed by the service and apparent care that is given to our dogs. They come home tired and happy. Twice we have had to board them with special instructions. Once, our dog had an ear infection which required drops. And another time was a week after surgery and she needed special attention. They listened closely to my worries (similar to Chase's previous review) and were very attentive to my instructions. I could tell when I picked them up that their medical needs were well cared for. The only downside is the money. Its expensive. They charge extra for holidays. However, for this level of care and attention, its worth it. read more

I've always been slightly weirded out by this place... They never seem happy to see me walk in, and I've always felt slightly off about leaving my dog here. Its gotten great reviews so I've just shrugged it off. This morning I went to drop my dog off for doggie daycare. As usual, no one was in the front room, and while I was waiting, a dog started barking in the back. Suddenly a man, who I couldn't see in the back, started yelling at the dog to 'Shut the h*ll up" and banged on its cage in a loud and scary way. I don't understand how this place can have ANY bad reviews. The people are great here! When my dog gets out of the car they yell his name, and genuinely look excited to see him! When I see the people who work there at the dog park or anything they always come out of their way to say hi to my dog. When I travel or go out of the country, Matt the manager, will email with me and let me know how the dog is doing. My dog loves it here, and I feel like the people who work there love having him there. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot! Mark, the groomer does a great job. Unfortunately, the employee working at the front desk has an attitude. When I called she had attitude, when I dropped my dog off she had attitude, and when I picked my dog up she had attitude. It's a different price every time. She informed me "well last time you paid $50." That was with the tip, honey. I'm sorry if you had to work all day on this beautiful Saturday, but I don't frequent businesses where the employees aren't friendly and nice and happy to see a customer. You are working with dogs, after all...It's been like this the past few times I've been in. There are too many places to have your dog groomed in the area to put up with an employee with attitude. I have been taking my Springer Spaniel to this location for over three years. I have used it extensively for daycare and I have used them for boarding a couple of times. My dog (Callie) is a wonderful dog and very friendly. But she is very nervous around strangers and it can take a while for her to warm up to people. But all of the staff (Matt, in particular) were so patient and so loving with her. The staff even showed me around before I brought Callie for her first visit so that I could get a feel for the place. It wasn't long before the word "daycare" sent her into an excited frenzy. Every time we go there, it doesn't matter which staff member greets her, Callie wags her tail and starts jumping all over the staff member. All of the staff greet her with love and excitement. And when she comes home, she is always so exhausted. I have also had them bathe and trim her a couple of times. They do a great job with that! The best thing is that when I brought her for daycare and grooming, they asked when I would be picking her up. They made sure to let her play all day and waited until the end of the day to bathe her. That way she wouldn't get dirty after her bath. They are so incredibly thoughtful! I know this is a rambling review, but the bottom line is that my dog loves it here and I can trust that the staff will take good care of her. They love her almost as much as I do. :) In fact, my husband and I (and Callie) will be moving out of the area soon and I am not sure I will find a daycare that I love nearly as much. read more

My pup Rufus and I love this place! While I'm away at work or out of town, I know Rufus is having a blast with his dog friends running around outside, playing in the wading pool, and posing for pictures. They post pictures on Facebook daily and their doggy cams online pretty much always work so you can rest assured your pup is enjoying his or her day. I find their rates to be very reasonable, and they are very accommodating. Added bonus: there's a sprouts nearby in one direction and a publix in other, can't beat the convenience factor there. read more
