We have a Shih Tzu, Baxter, who will turn seven this winter. We had been going to the same groomer for two years since moving back to the valley. That groomer accidentally cut him. We don't know if that caused Baxter to become overly aggressive toward the groomer or not, but on his next visit, he bit at her. We bought a brush, scissors, and clippers. We tried trimming him ourselves, but he would bite at us. Thus, Baxter's fur grew very long. In talking to new groomers, we were upfront about Baxter's aggressiveness. We had difficulty finding anybody to groom him. Baxter's fur had become matted and covered his eyes. Somebody recommended Barking Lot. Marissa did an UNBELIEVABLE JOB! We could not believe how great he looked. He appeared half as big as when we brought him in! Marissa said he bit at her a few times while trimming his face, but she had "very fast hands". We are so grateful that Marissa would even work on Baxter, let alone do such a fantastic job on our little guy. The staff at Barking Lot was very nice with us, from the time we spoke on the phone to picking him up. Marissa said she has been grooming people's pets for 22 years. It really shows! I have been coming to this dog groomers for 2 years now, only for their nail trim services. Today I took my three puppies for their nail trimming and decided to get their teeth cleaned for only two puppies. I asked the receptionist who is not new by the way, what was the price? She replied and says $6 each, I confirmed the price again while I was paying for the services. I get two puppies back & I'm while I'm waiting to receive the third one, the receptionist mentions that she's charged me the wrong amount and that her manager just told her that teeth cleanings are actually $10 for walk in's. She said I owed $8 more and she needed to charge me it. I said but I confirmed with you twice, I would like to speak to the manager. The owner comes out from the back with a nasty passive aggressive attitude, claiming she was the owner and I owed her $8 more because the receptionist made a mistake & she was allowed to make mistakes. I replied, I am aware people make mistakes & explained everything back to her. She then says ma'am just pay the amount quit being cheap! I said excuse me, I am not being cheap I paid the amount I was told & that comment is extremely disrespectful. Especially when I am a loyal customer. She continues to explain how it's been a busy & a hard morning for her to just pay what's owed. While this conversation is happening they are holding my puppy in their hands not wanting to give him to me until I paid. This shop & owner is very unprofessional and the owner has no respect for her customers, I recommend that you do not trust this shop with your babies/pets. I took my fur babies to The barking lot in March 2022. Baby, my Lhasa Apso came out of grooming fine. Daisy, my little Shih-Tzu is a different story. Diamond (the young lady at the front desk) offered to help me put the girls in the car. I thought it was really nice and didn't think anything else. Once home, because I have to put drops in Daisy eyes (she has dry eyes), I discovered she was badly cut under her right chest, on top of one of her eye and ear. She was also hurt under her left eyelid. I don't know what Daisy's groomer did to my poor baby that day but it hurts me to see how badly hurt she was. They no longer bath them. They just put some scent by the dog's ear so when you hold them and kiss them it smells good. Neither Diamond nor the groomer told me Daisy was badly cut. We will not be coming back to The Barking Lot. Never again! read more

I recently went here because they are close to home and had 4 stars. I regret taking my dog here. I paid $40 to make sure he was bathed and has his nails cut, anal glands cleaned and ears cleaned. We noticed he was scratching his ear much more after his groom visit. Here I am 3 days later in the vets office and they tell me he has an ear infection that is causing him pain. I paid for cleaning and they didn't let us know he had anything wrong with his ear? The vet told us they found gunk still in his ear which was causing irritation. Never coming back. read more

My Girl loves taking her little puppy to this place for a bath and a nice grooming. The women here do a great job. Her puppy comes out really cleans and all cute with a nice trim. Denise is no longer here. Told the girl at the front what I'd like for the groomer to do, pretty basic trim, nail grind, shorten the hair on his ears, done. He was ready maybe 4 hours later. I arrived to the front girls boyfriend just lingering around but no one that actually worked there. She finally came out and I paid before seeing him which stupidly included the tip. I probably would not have tipped as much had I seen him first. His ears were not cut, the overall grooming wasn't very good, no bandana like he usually received, and they didn't put his harness on correctly. Really? I have no idea why I am just now leaving a review after I have been coming here for a few years, but here we are! I can't even remember when I started coming here, I think it was probably 2015, and my Maltese Bentley has been being groomed by Marissa ever since. I can't recommend her enough; I can just tell she loves my boy so much, and she always, always gives him a hairbow in his ponytail and a seasonal bandana at my request. I think I finally wrote this review because we might have to move to Cali, and I am kind of freaking out because I just can't imagine taking my boy to another groomer, we have been coming here for so long! They have always been so good to us, even been forgiving when we have been late before (sorry!) They cut my dog's ear badly and charged me full price before they showed me how bad it was. I was told it was a nip at first. After they took my credit card ran it, them they brought her out and told that she was taken to the vet and had to have it super glued. Her cut is a mess, on top of the gash on the top of my babies ear! I posted a photo of her ear to show that this is no "nip". read more

As this is what we prefer we said yes, only to find out upon getting home our dogs nail bleeding and multiple other nails splintered at the ends. Either they were clipped and I was lied to (both upon dropping the dog off and over the phone) or the person using the dremel is a hazard to themselves and others. I brought my 2 boys here March 1st for the first time and had an excellent experience. My German Shepherd looked beautiful and my little rotti mix looked great as well. They did an excellent job. You can tell they love what they do. They treated my boys with care and that's something that I appreciate and look for in a groomer.
