I never got to write a review back in September 2016 but my dogs neck was shaved/cut open when getting groomed here! Never again. I had to fight with the owner to get the vet bill taken care of and was never informed of my dogs injury when I picked him up. Unprofessional!! They said that since I asked for my dog to be shaved, that's what they did and it cut him. They are the professionals and if they knew that shaving him this short would cut him, they should have informed me. I get him shaved every three months at his normal groomer for years and nothing like this ever happened until bringing him here due to his reg groomer being booked. Update: the owner messaged me stating she just purchased it and then old groomer has been fired and someone new with 20 years is in place. I don't know how they are now, or anything, just wanted to state my experience of the barks bed and biscuit I know of from my experience a year and half ago. read more

My dog Jake loves this groomer. He greets the staff with a lick and a wagging tail. He is bathed and groomed in about one hour which I think is wonderful. He even gets his teeth brushed. I highly recommend Barks Bed and Biscuit. Jake looks terrific every time he goes there. read more

I boarded my dog at this establishment for an extended weekend and was promised a kennel for my small dog. I chose barks because they have a doggiecam that you can log into at any time and view your furbaby. I was traveling and logged on the following day upon arriving to my destination. Upon logging in I didn't find my dog in any of the kennels or play area. That afternoon I left a message explaining that I couldn't find my dog anywhere on the doggie cam. I never recieved a call back that day. I called the following day in the morning...again I got the machine and no call back. My dog was nowhere to be found on the doggiecam and again I called that afternoon and an employee answered the phone. She explained that my dog was in a crate not a kennel and she would contact the owner and I would recieve a call back. Never recieved a call back. The following day I picked up my dog with still no callback. I explained the situation to the employee there. They're answer was "I'm really sorry about that." I paid my bill and left. They obviously overbooked the weekend and didn't want to loose out on profits. I should have been given a choice as to whether I was ok with my dog being in a crate all weekend...I wasn't . I was promised a kennel verbally and by e-mail yet my dog was put into a crate with no explanation from anyone. Stay away from this place....they care more about the profit than the animals or customers. I should have been informed not been misleaded also at least a call back and some kind of explanation. read more

We've boarded our dogs many times here and every single time, it's been an extremely great experienced. Ask for Caitlin -- she's the absolute *BEST*. Our dogs are HUGE fans of hers and she really takes the time to love and care for your pups and goes out of her way to ensure they have the best stay possible. We're eternally grateful for her love & care as our dogs are a huge part of our family. From the moment our car pulls into the parking lot, our two dogs go absolutely crazy. They love staying here (which is really a surprise to us since one of our dogs has some crazy separation anxiety!) and just can't wait to get inside! Caitlin SPOILED the ever-loving crap out of our two guys while we were gone for two months. Anytime I ever needed an update or to just check in, she was more than happy to let me know how the dogs were faring, and if anything was wrong. In fact, at one point, our female dog had started a bit of coughing and needed to go to the vet. They called me to let me know ASAP and asked me how to proceed. Caitlin then took time from her own schedule to take my dogs to the vet. Through the process, she was comforting and super caring -- after all, our dogs get super nervous at the vet. After the vet visit, she made sure that they were not only comfy, but got their medication on time. In the middle of the dogs' stay, their vitamins had run out! Caitlin gave me a call and asked me if it'd be okay if she went out and bought more vitamins. Using her own money to buy the vitamins (which we obviously repaid her for), she took time from her personal schedule (again) to ensure that our pups were totally happy. Our dogs are also fussy eaters -- and Caitlin made sure to add a little bit of pumpkin or peanut butter to ensure that they two dogs ate. I honestly can't thank her enough for how much she did for our dogs during the stay -- she treated our dogs like her own family! We noticed that our dogs were actually in better shape than before they got boarded! She exercised them & played with them daily -- our dogs were totally in love with her! Funny enough, after we picked up the pups, the dogs seemed a bit blue for a few days after -- they missed Caitlin so much! She became part of their pack - and anytime we board with BB&B, our dogs go insane when they see her! They love her *so* much! Honestly, is there anything better than seeing your dogs be cared after by someone they love and trust so much? During their stay, they were loved and extremely well cared for. Before we picked up our dogs, she groomed them, clipped their nails, and even washed their doggy beds! Can you ask for a better customer experience??? We'll def. be boarding our dogs here in the future. This is our go-to spot. Honestly, after doing tons of research & boarding dogs elsewhere, we're totally convinced this is the spot they (and we!) love the best. From a very loving staff (Caitlin - we're totally indebted to you!), a great facility, pup cams, and the knowledge that your dog is safe, sound & happy while you're away, makes this our very favorite place to board our fur children. Despite the bad reviews I thought I would give this place a shot for daycare for my pup but didn't even get through a consultation due to disorganization by the staff. In addition, the woman made a phone call in front of me claiming she had no information on my dog (which I emailed in advance), had no idea I was coming, and was talking rudely about my vet because they couldn't reach them via phone. Needless to say, if they are that rude to dog owners I'm not interested to see how they would take care of my dog.. There are other lovely daycares in the area - don't waste your time here. read more

First let me say we are fanatics about our 2 miniature Schnauzers. That being said, we have been very pleased with the care they have received here. We have used Barks on 2 different occasions & have never had a bad experience. One of our girls has special needs (one kidney) so we tried to be very specific with our instructions for her. She is on a prescription diet & can only have bottled water. Barks went over all the instructions with us & we were put at ease. We love that they are monitored on cameras so we can check-in with them. I think it is great that they have playtime with similar sized dogs too. When we picked the girls up they were clean & of course happy to see us, but not traumatized. We have been very pleased. read more

i needed last minute bording for my dog and was delighted when I was able to get my dog in for a 4 day stay. We brought the kind of food our dog eats with her but was disappointed to see they didn't feed her that food. I am happy to say that her digestive tract was no worse for the wear, so I guess the food they gave her agreed with her. I did LOVE the idea that you can go online and check on your dog. We've been taking the family dachshund to Bark's Bed & Biscuit ever since it opened. The staff is awesome and wonderfully patient. The best part is that they have webcams set up so you can check in at any time to see how your pup is doing! This proved useful on Thanksgiving when the entire family took turns checking in on him as he had been ill right before his stay. Oh, did I mention their website is awesome? I decided to leave my Great Dane at Bark's on the advice of my vet, whom I love, yet I was extremely let down by the entire experience. I wanted to like this place, but I'm never trusting them with my dog again. When I picked her up, both she and her bed stunk like urine. This is a large dog with a very large bladder who hasn't had an accident since she was 5 months old. Regardless, I understand that sometimes accidents are inevitable and not the kennel's fault, but handing back a piss-soaked bed and a pee-stinking dog is completely unacceptable. When I called the next day to complain, the guy on the phone could not have been bothered to answer my questions and should probably be working for a cable company's customer service hotline. He couldn't have been less helpful than if I were speaking Greek. My biggest complaint, and this can't be stressed enough to potential customers of this place, is that MY DOG HAS BEEN PUKING FOR A WEEK STRAIGHT since coming home. She has thrown up at least once a day for the last week, and I had to go back to the vet and pay $200 for antibiotics and stomach meds to correct whatever went wrong at the kennel. Sure, spending money sucks, but it sucks worse to have a sick dog and know it was my fault for leaving her at this kennel. Again, I want to stress this to all potential customers: in the 8 days between her vet visits (before her stay at Bark's to get her kennel cough shots, to two days after she came home when the vet gave her stomach meds) my 98lb dog lost 9 freaking pounds! I can't repeat this strongly enough: my dog lost almost 10% of her body weight as a direct result of the care she received at Bark's. If you're still reading this, I assume you're considering boarding your dog at Bark's. Before I did, I read the same positive reviews you read on this page, and I really wanted to like this place! But after the week I've had with my sick pup, I would hate to have somebody else blindsided by what I can only politely describe as sub-par service. I was reluctant to hand my dog off to a kennel in the first place, but after all the guilt I felt this week watching my dog suffer with digestive issues and meds, Bark's has convinced me that nobody like them will ever take care of my dog again. Too much guilt on my end. Luckily for me my dog still loves me (I think). read more

I boarded my medium sized dog for 7 days a couple of summers ago and it was a good experience. Having cameras in the facility is what won me over. I loved sitting on the beach and watching my dog play with others on my phone. (One strange thing I did see on the camera was an employee with ill-fitting pants and a whole lot of plummer's crack, haha) I liked the experience overall. However, I had a couple of complaints. I dropped my dog off early on a Saturday so I could start heading to LBI. My vet had not faxed all the paperwork over in time, but Bark's assured me I could leave and there wouldn't be any problems. About 30 minutes later I received a phone call saying my dog wasn't up to date on her vaccines. I had to call my vet, have them fax everything to Bark's again just to find out I STILL was missing a vaccine. Luckily, Bark's was able to administer the nose spray on site for a fee. I also found out that her kennel cam wasn't working, so I could only view her during the play time, which was only a mild nuisance. My last pet peeve occured upon pick-up. My dog was brought out without a leash and I asked them where it went. My dog arrived with a purple leash (matched her collar) with a plastic doggie bag container attached to it. They tried to convince me that I had dropped her off without one . I asked for them to look again and they brought out a bag of discarded leashes for me to choose from. It was a very strange and awkward interaction. I finally chose a heavy red leash made for an XL dog (my pup is a medium). I called a few days later and they finally agreed to credit me some money for the missing leash. Apparently they hang the leashes on the outside of each kennel within the dog's reach. My dog got ahold of the leash and chewed it. I was surprised that not a single employee could provide me with this information until I complained for the second time. I am glad they made it right, but I wish someone had called me the day it occurred. I am also glad she didn't have any bowel obstructions. Despite my numerous complaints, I still like Bark's. My advice is to come prepared with the right vaccines and paper work and to have specific care instructions printed for the employees. Call me crazy, but I am still a fan, despite the complaints. read more

Bark's Bed and Biscuit, is a full service doggie day care, boarding and grooming facility. I have been bringing my dog to Barks Bed and Biscuit for the past 2 years. It is a family run business and the staff is very friendly and absolutely wonderful with the dogs. Web cams are installed in each private room and in the open play area so you can monitor you dog while you are away. The dogs have wonderful accommodations in private rooms. The dogs get two hours of supervised free play each day, along with daily walks, and lots of love and affection from the staff. I highly recommend Barks Bed and Biscuit. read more

I will start by saying that my wife and I consider our dogs to be part of our family. They get the best food, tons of exercise and regular vet checkups. We also serve as foster parents for the shelter that we adopted our dogs from. We are 'dog' people. I say this because I realize how easy it is to post an anonymous review on a website. Our experience with Barks Bed and Biscuit was, in short, AWFUL. My wife and I were getting ready to go on our honeymoon and needed a place to board our two young dogs. We spent days searching for the right place and finally made the decision to board them at Barks after both of us stopped by to meet the staff and check the place out in person. We liked the idea of being able to check in on our dogs using the webcams. The owner gave us a tour and told us everything we wanted to hear. How they would get 4 outdoor walks a day and would spend a MINIMUM of 4 hours a day in the play area with other dogs. This kennel is almost an hour away from our home and we could have easily picked a kennel much closer to us. Since we were going to be out of the country, both my sister and my sister-in-law offered to keep an eye on the dogs using the webcams. The problems started almost from day one. We started receiving emails and text messages from our sisters stating that our dogs were ALWAYS in their cage and that they were only getting walked twice a day. My sister (who had the webcam up on her desktop for 9 hours a day while she was at work) sent the staff at Barks email after email inquiring as to why the dogs were not allowed out of their pen with no response and placed numerous phone calls trying to get an answer. She was told everything from "our dogs didn't get along with other dogs" to "they are afraid of other dogs" to "when they are out they just stand in the play area and don't do anything." She resorted to going there almost every day on her lunch hour to take them outside and give them play time. It became very clear that this place had no interest in the animals care. We couldn't wait to get home just to get our dogs out of there. In fact after a full day of traveling and a 10 hour flight home we literally walked in the front door, dropped our luggage and got in the car and drove an hour to pick them up rather than leave them there another night. When we arrived at the kennel to get them the young girl working the desk did not know how to use the credit card machine so we picked the dogs up and my wife went back to pay the following Monday. When she returned to pay the bill she told the owner she would like to discuss the care the dogs received and he immediately became extremely defensive, rude and stand-offish. He repeated all the same 'stories' that he fed my sister over the two weeks we were away. After a heated exchange he asked her to leave and not come back (as if that was something we might ever consider!). In fact, I see now on the Barks website that they have even go so far as to change their policy about boarding dogs and free time. It does not matter, in the end it's the same nasty people you are trusting to care for you fury family members. Buyer beware. read more

We have been bringing our dog here for the past few years and have always had a wonderful experience. We started off dropping him off for vacations and weekend trips. We had such a great experience, that now we drop him off almost every weekend to hang out! He has so much fun playing with the other dogs during playtime and has always been taken care of by the staff as if he was their own. Now we can't say the work "Barks" without him running to his leash and waiting by the door! We can't say enough good things about Caitlin. She always goes above and beyond to keep us updated on how he is doing and to makes sure our dog has the best experience each and every time. I recently boarded my 60 pound dog here, and I am extremely disappointed. I tried to check the doggie cam on a daily basis, and more often than not, my dog was not in the assigned kennel, but in a different kennel, or he was nowhere to be found. I checked at various times of the day to allow for cleaning, play, etc., but I would say out of the 6 days he was there, I could not see him 70% of the time! When I picked him up, I was met with a smelly, soaking wet bed stuffed into a small garbage bag, and my anxious to see me pup. I was told he had "the runs" and the bed was wet because they were trying to clean it. I politely asked them to dispose of the reeking bed. My dog never poohs where he sleeps, but apparently he did that week! Upon our arrival home, he promptly vomited, which continued for 2 days, accompanied by the runs. Despite the fact that I brought his own food, they fed him their food instead. Now, my dog is not fussy, in fact my husband affectionately termed him "the junkyard dog", because honestly, he can eat anything: except their food, that week. When I returned the day after I picked him up to speak with the owner, an older gentleman, an employee I assume, since he was wearing their shirt, quickly dismissed all of my concerns, and assured me that I just don't know my dog as well as I think I do. He knows my dog better. I mentioned that after the runs, my dog smelled, and should have been bathed. He told me dogs ALWAYS smell that way, but we just don't notice it until we are apart. My dog never smells like that. When I left I said I could not recommend their kennel, and I would never board my dog here again. I was told that was my prerogative, and promptly dismissed. The gentleman turned his back on me to signal the discussion was over. Based on the advice our well respected vet and previous reviews I took a chance. Based on this experience and the condition of my poor dog, I realize I shouldn't have! read more

We recently had to board our puppy since we would be out of town for 5 days for our daughter's wedding. We decided to board her at Bark's since the staff seemed nice and I was impressed when I toured the facility.We loved the fact that we could view our dog via webcams that covered the sleeping areas and the play area. We watched our dog often and could see that she was well taken care of. I was especially impressed with one of the employees named Kathy who repeatedly opened my puppy's cage just to give her hugs and kisses and the two of them developed a special bond. My puppy had spilled water on her pillow and Kathy was nice enough to wash it and dry it with a blow dryer. Nice!!! We were very happy with their service and will definitely use them again in the future. read more

Disgusting. Pee soaked bed. Dog wasn't playing any of the times we checked the camera. Our dog was slumped and laying on the floor because her bed was soaked. She never pees where she sleeps. We feel they didn't walk once. Seriously worst place ever. I've never reviewed on yelp before. I'm doing it now hoping to prevent other dog owners from making the same mistake. Dear Jim and Meg Latham, When I picked up our dog on Wednesday March 4th at 7:30am I was not happy to say the least, actually I was furious. Not only was he not given his bath, he had dried crap on his rear, which was not recent, it had to have been on him for at least a day. Now let me back up a bit. We have had some minor issues with you guys in the past regarding problems with his nails and bathing that were not administered as requested. We over looked these minor issues at the time, things happen. This most recent event, however, was unacceptable and inexcusable and leads me to believe you have some serous staffing and pet care problems. First red flag this time around was when I dropped off our dog on Friday Feb. 27th. When I approached the door there was a larger white dog in the lobby, off leash, that charged at us. I had to step in between that dog and mine as Jim ( I believe) had to grab him and put him in the back. I think you know that if either one of us had been bitten that would have been your last day in business. When I picked up our dog the same dog was in the lobby, unleashed, and again charged the door and had to be put in the back by your employee. You run a pet boarding business with clients and pets entering your lobby, at no time should there ever be any other dogs in the lobby, unleashed, and not under some ones control. Now let's get to the pet care issue. I now believe that your staff is not letting the dogs out on a regular schedule so they can relieve themselves properly. No pet should be in a situation where they have to piss and crap where they eat and sleep. This, as far as I am concerned, borders on neglect. When I see that my dog , obviously had to lay around in his own crap, that pisses me off and is inexcusable. That also tells me that the only time you let them out is to hose down and clean out the unit. This is not my first pet or my first kennel, but I have never had to deal with or see these kinds of issues. Needless to say I won't be back. I have owned and operated businesses over the years, and when there are problems it is always from the top down. I suggest you take a hard look at what is going on in your business and make some serious changes before someone files a formal complaint, I am still weighing that option. I know I requested a phone call but I no longer wish to even speak to any of you. I feel you will only be making pointless excuses and I don't need, nor do you want me to get angry again. read more

For the past few years we have had our dog Yankee in day care twice a week. At times we have had him there 3 times a week for the full day. Every so often we have had him boarded overnight too. My daughter , wife and I have been 100 percent happy with the care all the staff have showed with Yankee. He plays with the owners dog Dakota and another dog named jerry. They have become all good doggy friends. The place is clean, reasonably priced and I love the staff. Caitlin and Matthew have been there the longest and just love yankee. Having a dog happy and relaxed after a day at Barks bed and Bisquit is great for yankee and makes us happy as his owners. The rest of the staff take the lead from caitlin and Matthew. read more

We visited Barks a few months prior to our week long vacation. The woman that I met with was very pleasant and gave me a tour of the facility. I liked the fact that they had a playroom for the dogs, but was a bit concerned that it was rather small. She indicated that they were opening up a new playroom which would be completed by the time that our dog would be staying with them. She told me at that time, "The dogs will be out the majority of the day" . We choose them due to this and the fact that they had a web cam so we could check in to see how our dog was doing. A few days before we were leaving, I called them to confirm what we needed to bring and confirm what time they were open. No return call. The next day I left another message. No return call. The following day I called again and they finally answered. While this was a red flag, I didn't figure it was that big of a deal and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Upon checking her in, I asked the owner if they had opened the 2nd playroom and he said they had. The first night that we checked on her on the web cam, she was in the crate the entire time. Again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that she may have been out earlier. The next day we had the web cam on the majority of the day and she never left the crate. At 7:pm, I called them and they said she was going in shortly. She was in for a half an hour before being returned to the crate. The remainder of the week was just the same, she was in the crate every time we looked in on her. Half way through the week, I sent them an email saying how we were upset that she was in the crate the majority of the time and that it was putting a damper on our vacation. No response. One time we did see them take her out for a walk and she was literally back in two minutes. Obviously, they held her in the crate so long that she was ready to explode when she got outside and as soon as she went to the bathroom they rushed her back in. When we arrived to pick her up, I checked her out with the owner and I advised him how disappointed we were that she was in the crate for the majority of the week. Immediately, he got defensive. He said that they let them out for a minimum of two hours per day. When I pointed out that his own log sheet had her out for a half hour on the second day he snapped at me that they don't always have enough time to let them out for longer. (I'm not quite sure how that adds up with a minimum of two hours) He then said that I should have been happy that I got to see her on the web cam so I knew what they did with her. I stated that my opinion was the opposite in that it was awful to see her locked up for the amount of time that she was. He then said "Let me tell you something about this dog, you said she plays well with other dogs-when we let her into the play are she was skittish as hell" This was right in front of my two daughters, ages 6 and 8. After this I knew that I was not getting anywhere with this individual who has absolutely no class so we left. Upon getting home we realized that they didn't give us any of her toys, bones or food back which was not surprising. I would avoid this place at all costs as this person only cares about making as much money as he can and has no concern for you or your pet. read more

my two dogs shared a kennel and they never fed them in over 24 hour period even though i gave instrucrions at drop off and left them in bag with food and treat, which were also not given. not cool. and the explanation was they were an overnight stay? what? instructions were to feed them in the evwning andd they were deopped off at 130. how hard is that? not going back. also grooming is over priced for what youget. my dogs nails looked like they dragged them over asphalt. read more

I had visited Barks a few days prior to our week long vacation. The woman that I met with was very pleasant and gave me a tour of the facility. I liked the fact that they had an inside and ourside play area for the dogs and the place was very clean. I was told, "The dogs will be out the majority of the day" . We choose them due to this and the fact that they had a web cam so we could check in to see how our dog was doing. The first night that we checked on her on the web cam, she was in the crate the entire time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that she may have been out earlier. The next day we had the web cam on the majority of the day and she only left the crate once at 8:30am to go to the bathroom and was back in 3 minutes. I also noticed that they had left her training collor on her, we told them that this was only to be used to take her for a walk. So that night I sent them an e-mail asking to have the collor removed. It was not removed untill I called them the next day and asked why she was not out in the play area and noticed that the collor was sitll on. They told me that said was not interacting well with the other dogs. Making it sound as if she was agressive. I saked to see her in the room so I could observ for my self. In fact she (a 1.5yr old boxer mix) was very much imtimidated by a male dog. A dog i seen days before chasing all the femails around....(need I say more). I called back and asked that she be placed out in the play area with Medium sized dogs and they said "ok we will do that tomorrow. Well tomorrow never came. That day i called she was out in the play area half an hour before being returned to the crate. The remainder of the week we never saw her out of her creat / kennel. I sent them an email saying how we were upset that she was in the crate all the time and that it was putting a damper on our childrens vacation. No response. When we arrived to pick her up she was very happy to see us, I did not want to check her out while there because I was ready to explode. Now that I have had a chance to look at her I noticed that she has been bleading from the training collor that was kept on tool long and she is SICK with bordella. I would avoid this place at all costs, they only care about making as much money as he can and has no concern for you or your pet. read more
