We were pleasantly surprised to find that happy hour lasted until 6 pm. We ordered a variety of dishes and truly enjoyed every single one. The kids menu is fantastic too. My son's meal came with salmon skewers, a huge serving of fries, fresh fruit and an adult sized cookie (that we had to sample for quality control). The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. While my husband really enjoyed our meal, I think this restaurant would be great for a girls dinner. Small plates, an extensive wine list, and a great patio. We'll be back for sure!

I really liked how stylish and beautiful the restaurant was. It would be a great spot for a date night. We ordered several dishes to share. I was really looking forward to the Nordic salmon salt block sashimi but the slices were too thin to hold up to the salt and felt like the block was the main attraction. Nordic salmon sweet sesame rice bowl was highly recommended by the server. It was good but overly sweet and the serving size was pretty small. We ordered Korean beef tacos topped with raw kimchi. Wasn't impressed with the beef which was just meh and lacking a rich and good flavor. At $5 each the tacos fell short in execution as the flavors and combination didn't work. The best dish was the tempura green beans which were light and crispy. I didn't care for the aioli it came with though as it was super sweet. I had to mix in a garlic aioli to make it ok. The ambience felt elevated but unfortunately the food didn't match. I didn't expect to find flaws with every dish we tried which was disappointing. Our server was acceptable but was not engaging. I'm glad I finally experienced this restaurant but don't see myself returning.

Located in Old…read moreTown Scottsdale, this winery, while it doesn't have a parking lot, is surrounded by free street parking. I Ubered but I saw that there was a good amount of parking as I walked in. Ambiance (3.5/5): A small but homey winery. You're not in wine country, so you won't have scenic views, but it is a nice place to have some wine. We sat at some high tops close to the bar. Service (4/5): Friendly service. If you're doing a wine tasting, they'll tell you a little bit about each wine. Food (N/A): We were on a liquid diet during this visit. Drinks (4/5): The Wine Collective participates in the Scottsdale Wine Walk along with five other wineries in Old Town. You can get a passport at any of the locations for $5 and then you'll receive a discount off of flights at each. You also get a stamp upon completing your mission at each spot. They only had one passport left, so luckily I was able to start the challenge. They have several different flights, more than just your standard red or white, including one where they will customize the flight based on your preferences. Pretty awesome and not something I see at a lot of wineries. All of the wines we sampled were solid. I'd return! Now I just need to complete the Wine Walk. It's a tough job but somebody's gotta do it!

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

Our waiter Derrick told us they do a great job of being consistent with cooking their meat. He was right, my medium filet came out perfectly medium. The steak butter on the top added a great flavor as well. The fries tasted good and were seasoned well which I always appreciate. The pretzel bread and butter is also delicious and unlimited. The table next to us even took 4 of them to go with them. They give each person 2 free trials of any wine they want, and the trial glasses are a very good size considering they're free. Derrick was very nice, attentive, and helpful among our many special requests. The atmosphere was nice and somewhat fancy, while not being overly fancy and still allowing casual dining.

We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which were absolutely delicious, along with their signature pretzel bread. My son is convinced it's the best bread he's ever had and said he could have happily made that his entire meal! My husband ordered his favorite dish, the Trio of Medallions, Horseradish, Bleu Cheese, and Parmesan-Crusted Filet Medallions served with Mary's Potatoes and asparagus. It's his go-to order every time we visit. My son ordered the Junior Filet Medallions with fresh fruit and French fries. He loved the steak, although next time he said he'll order it medium rare instead of medium. My daughter kept it light with the Caesar salad and added grilled shrimp for protein. I ordered the Parmesan-Crusted Mahi Mahi, and it was outstanding. The crispy caper lemon butter sauce is incredible! It's served with broccolini and Mary's Potatoes. My in-laws shared the Baked Parmesan Shrimp Scampi but swapped the capellini for rigatoni. They both loved it and said the pasta substitution was the perfect choice since they aren't fans of capellini. From the good food to the attentive service, Cooper's Hawk delivered another wonderful experience. Their menu truly has something for everyone!
