Where is everyone?!? Seriously! In the last 2 years or so I have not seen any employees on the floor. I've actually on occasion had to rely on advice of customers and that's sad. There also used to be a customer information desk in the middle of the store so you could at least rely on that. They no longer offer to order magazines so if they don't carry the one you nd, too bad. It seems that most of these changes took place after Books A Million closed down. When they closed, B&N became the only book store in the city. It seems they've taken advantage of that fact but I don't think they realize online book sales re at a record high! read more

BLOWN AWAY BY A CHAIN BOOKSTORE!! :) I recently moved to Gainesville from a big Texas town where there are all kinds of bookstores: small, large, independent, used, antique. I was kinda surprised to find out that the B&N couldn't make it in a college town. I had called and had a book placed on hold so I cruised on down to Ocala. I walked in and said 'Wow, WTF is this place?" Big and then bigger. Clean, organized with very well-thought out book displays. By theme, by author, even have a BookTok section. They had a nice display for a book that was released last year but was just now catching on (called "The Once and Future Witches" - go read it, BTW) for the public. My heart rolled over when I saw that display as it was one of my favorite books from last year. They either have very well-read employees or a very very talented book buyer. I've never enjoyed my time in B&Ns as the employees never seemed to know anything. I didn't get the chance to really engage with any employee except the cashier. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed that she didn't know about "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" as it also ruled the charts last year. I run six online books clubs and this was my first bookstore since the pandemic. I'll tell everyone and I'll be back! read more

Suzie D is the worst cashier. For some reason, this woman has her panties in a bunch each time I am unlucky to have her ring up my purchase. There is never a warm greeting or a thank you for my purchase. She is fine with other customers. She acts as though I personally stole her lunch money. As a customer and member of Barnes & Noble, I deserve to be treated with respect each and every time I come into the store. This is the third time with this particular cashier and the others are aloof in general. We as the customer choose to shop there and it is a big deal! We can buy everything online so coming to the store and choosing to shop in person is huge but when you leave feeling unappreciated. read more

I've always loved Barnes & Noble. This location has a nice atmosphere and is organized very well. The media/music area is also very nice. I'm a book nerd so I might be a little bias with a review, but I really enjoy visiting this location and enjoy shopping for gifts here as well. If I had one suggestion, I would like to see more seating instead of basically some wooden chairs by the magazine section against the wall and within the Starbucks area. More seating throughout the store please. read more

Overall, this Barnes and Noble consistently gives me a nice, relaxing visit, but still needs a few adjustments to get to five stars. This B&N is special to me as it is the closest to my house and is a frequent date spot for my girlfriend and I after meeting there. We visit at least once a week to grab some coffee and relax. The book selection is great. I've never had trouble finding one that I was searching for as everything is clearly labeled and the layout flows very well. There's also a computer search system available in different locations throughout the store. The same goes for the electronics selection. A good amount of my vinyls have come from here! The Starbucks cafe inside is a great spot to grab some coffee, especially if you're a B&N member as you get 10% off every time you buy coffee. You can't get stars though if you're a Starbucks member, so we usually go to the store nearby then hit up B&N. I can't complain about the seating. There are only about 6 cozy chairs in the store, but there are a lot of tables in the cafe area and I've never had to wait for anyone to leave to grab one. The bathrooms are probably the worst aspect of this location. To be quite honest, they consistently smell terrible. They've literally smelled the same since I started going regularly in December. Aside from this issue, and maybe adding a few more comfy chairs, this is a great spot that I love visiting and I think you will too! read more

Barnes & Noble just seems to make you want to buy a book, they have everything you need Starbucks coffee place to read and every book that you could ever want. I like when you hear about a book and kind forget about it and then go on the discounted tables that are offered there you just can't pass up the deals! There's nothing like just getting into a book when you have some down time. read more

Good bookstore in Ocala. Just like all the other B&N in the country. They have a Starbucks inside...good selection of books and magazines.

I had some really simple questions about very basic things and the manager (I think named Dawn) was so incredibly rude. She would not let me finish my questions before interrupting me to refuse to even look to a computer screen for my requests. I LOVE bookstores and I LOVE BARNES AND NOBLES but this woman was terrible. Please find anyone else to speak to. read more
