    So pretty lighted at night

Quaint coffee shop where I love to journal with a chilled ice tea. I bought my beautiful journal book here and it was definitely tough to pick from all the gorgeous designs they have. I know you'll find a lovely journal here too as well as other cool bookmarks. Their merch section is def fun to browse, or get a well loved gift for a special person. I love the cheesecake in the cafe, I've tried orea and strawberry. My fav book well is New Releases. I always find my book club picks there.

I love books. I enjoy looking at a rack of books and seeing what catches my eye. I love opening the dust jacket and reading the summary. Those things have mostly faded away in the world of Nooks and online book retailers. However, I am happy that local bookstores and in this case national bookstores still exist. I still stop in when I am at Tempe Marketplace and see if there is a new book I must read or even a magazine on the racks to read on an upcoming flight.

This is a great location and they were not tremendously packed on Black Friday even though they were busy they kept the line moving. I got to meet an author that was new to me. Interesting material but I really friendly and nice experience. We will be back.

I still read actual books, so this, is my come to spot!!! I hope that this store never goes away because some of us actually get tired of looking at computers and nooks and would rather turn the page manually. They have a Starbucks located inside but turns out, they don't use the app since this Starbs location is owned by Barnes. Sucks because my purchases didn't matter for points which, I'm happy to save for winter months. I liked that they have a Black History table dedicated to Black Authors in celebration of our Cultural. Don't get me wrong, I love all cultures and think that each discriminated cultural group, should have a table honestly. Just my feedback! All races matter and all races read . This location has plenty of parking onsite. The 1 staff member went out of her way to speak which was nice.

The employees here were very friendly and polite. This Barnes & Noble store had all of the books I wanted to purchase. Everything was well organized and easy to find. However, the value is a bit expensive compared to what you could get on Amazon.

Whoever says bookstores are dead has not visited this Barnes & Noble location. On a Sunday afternoon, the store was busy. Line moved surprisingly quickly. There were eight purchases ahead of us. I was to the head of the line, and done with my transaction in a matter of minutes. One of the ways the store has remained relevant is by expanding it's array of goods. The store is still mostly books. There are generally more items than there once was that one may give as a gift other than books. All kinds of literature and pop culture inspired impulse items around the line. (Much like a Ross or TJ Maxx does.) Near the children's section several aisles of toys. Children's section is not the most organized. Yes that is in part to little hands putting books back wherever. This is especially true for the easy reader area. Books were very jumbled. Store is under construction, so they don't have their full selection. That being said, there is still a decent selection. In may cases, books can be ordered, if not in stock. Starbucks is located inside. Seating in the Starbucks area to enjoy one's food and drink.

One of the books Rainer recommended.

On those occasions when I want to wind down between work and going home, I find myself here. I am able to browse the shelves for my next great read or see what new music is being offered. Today I hung out in the cafe area with a friend and his kids. The fact that his kids enjoyed being here and, for a moment, forgot their phones speaks volumes.

Just in time for the second season

Imagine my delight to realize that the Changing Hands Tempe location was mere minutes away from our previous stop! Of course, we had to visit. I was immediately engrossed by the assortment of non-cheesy and extremely cool gift items that were at the front of the store, but also sprinkled throughout the location. I also really enjoyed that they had both new and used books. I try to limit myself to purchasing used books for environmental concerns, but it's tricky to find new titles pre-owned, so I justified a splurge and purchased two new books. The prices for both new and used books were extremely fair. In addition to the copious amounts of books, gift items, indie bookstore merch, and everything else wonderful, they also have a photo booth! My sister and I have an agreement to indulge in every photo booth we stumble upon, so we were super excited to happen upon one here. I can't say enough good things about this spot. I'm already excited to return.

I initially…read morefound Changing Hands through their Phoenix location which needs a separate review of its own. Both locations have their own unique layout, so you can't even compare them. There is so much to appreciate. This one feels a bit more spacious and I found myself in the store for 2 hours just taking my time looking through the aisles. Immediately upon walking in, I was enamored by their setup and selection of books. They have every genre you can think about. Some sections that caught my eye: a dedicated kids' section and a spot for when special guests come. They're also connected to Wildflower so you can come before or after a sip and bite. Changing Hands is so special because they care about community and also support second hand! Staff is eager to help you out and guide you if you have a specific book in mind. You can bring your well loved books in return for store credit and they're quite generous with the credit. They'll take your books depending on the condition and if they need stock for that book. The cherry on top- I love that I'm supporting a local bookstore. And you even get a stamp card with a discount once you've gotten it all stamped out. Their prices are also affordable, and you can choose from new or used books which is nice. Most of their used books are in pristine condition. I support Changing Hands through and through and am so glad I ran across this bookstore. If you're a book lover, you need to go!

Whether…read moreyou're looking for a new book or a bouquet, Wijaya is a great place to buy a gift for someone or to treat yourself. I've visited a couple times now, but on my most recent visit, I attended one of their ticketed flower bouquet making events. You can find a wide range of artsy book-related or flower-related events on their website. For this class, it was learning how to make a spiral bouquet. It was so fun learning this technique and leaving with a a bouquet that I had designed! Also, the owner is super kind and her patience and help with me while I made my bouquet was greatly appreciated. Can't wait to try another class!

I was immediately greeted by a young friendly woman at the front who left me to peruse the store. There's a selection of books for everyone, with sections for various genres housed on the east wall and within their bookcases and tables. I love the idea of a blind date with a book, and they had no shortage of options! There's a small area containing tees and other merch and, even tho I'm not a big sci-fi fan, I loved the setup they had for the genre! What I hadn't anticipated was the section that had the Sweet Valley Twins books! The nostalgia was HEAVY let me tell you! :) Regardless of how small the store seemed, they do an amazing job of packing in the books and I was impressed that there's literally every type of genre you could want there. Adding to the great vibes are the comfy sitting areas with plush seating, an old typewriter you can crank out 'hellos' to future visitors on, and plants and decor that add charm to some mid century modern furniture. What makes this place so unique though is the assortment of fresh flowers in the back and the flower workshops they hold each week. I haven't gone to one yet, but I plan on it, they look really cool! I highly recommend Wijaya House to any book lover, but especially those that prefer the locally owned to the big box store. I'm planning my next visit soon. :)

I was shopping, and waiting for my trade offer for some items I brought in. I asked to look at a Collector Comic Book that was locked in a case. I asked the staff member if I could take the book out and look a it because I wanted to make sure nothing was cut out of the comic. He immediately became defensive, and his attitude became hostile. I said "if there is anything cut out it's not worth $25 and I want to check. If I damage it while looking at it, I'll pay for it." His response wasn't helpful or understanding, it was pushy and abusive. "You should just get these while you see them. No one has these, and I've never seen one in our store since I've been here". I said "I have been collecting comics all of my life, and if there is anything cut out, it's not worth $10 to me". Again, instead of being friendly and asking anything helpful or asking questions, he was pushy and forceful, and became even more irritated when I pointed out the water damage on the back of the comic and told him I didn't want it. He was very unfriendly from the start. A toxic person, to be as kind as I can be. I received notice that my trade offer was ready, but I cancelled my trade offer, and walked out of the store with the items I had brought to trade. I WILL NEVER RETURN AS LONG AS THAT PERSON WORKS THERE. When I advised the staff of what happened, they seemed disinterested in doing anything. I asked them "how can you allow a person who treats customer this was to work here, and why would you want to work here if the business allows this?" They all looked at me with blank stares on their faces. A manager did talk to me, but it was the same attitude as the rude employee. He didn't introduce himself my name. He didn't try to find out the name of the employee. His attitude, like the rude staff member, was an attitude of not wanting to be there, an attitude of feeling irritated that they have to actually talk to a customer and assist them, an attitude of superiority and entitlement, an attitude that their customers do not matter to them and that they don't respect people in general. I advised their manager on duty that I work as a customer service consultant, and the employees treatment was unacceptable. He did offer complimentary credit, but did not indicate how much. I declined and told them honestly "I don't care if you pay me a Billion dollars in cash, I don't want it if that person works here. What he did was unacceptable and he should be fired". I am sure they won't do anything, and I want everyone to know that Bookman's is a TOXIC company who does not appreciate their customers, and they will screw you over and abuse you if you go there.
