This place was definitely more than a book store! As soon as you walk in you see nostalgic toys and video games in cases behind glass. There were also so many games to look at and choose from . I was hypnotized before I ever made it to the books and that's the reason I went into the store. Although I didn't find anything I like because o was overwhelmed, they had a cool $1 section in the back for books. We basically browsed because it was ALOT. But it was cool to see so much old school stuff too. read more

After my massage, I happened to see this place next door called Book Off. it got my curiosity going so I went in & looked around. They have all sorts of pop culture items: Funko Pops, figurines, books, dvds, cds, anime, etc. Being the music fan I am, the cds really piqued my interest & I found some I either never had or did previously have & got stolen from, so away I came with 5 cds to add to my collection & eventually upload to my iTunes. For $34 I got 5 cds! Normally 5 cds would come anywhere between $75 & $100 depending! It's an awesome store! Go check this store out at Dobson & Main in Mesa. My friend went in to sell some D&D books valed at $460 on Ebay. I understand Ebay isnt the best source, so I took a look at the Acaeum, the foremost accurate pricing site for D&D. I looked and the prices were even higher. But I was hoping to get around $175-200. NOPE !!! A measly $48 !!!! Not even the taxes for them. Not ever going there again ! read more

My kind of book store. New stuff, used books and cd's all in order in some way. Well staffed, all with smiles and answers that are helpful not condescending...sweet. It was busy but somehow peaceful. I went in with my son just to look but ended up grabbing two books for two bucks in the first five minutes of being there. Being in between H-Mart and Daiso I'll be coming back. Last words... First Impressions This is my first visit to this Book Off location. What I love about this place is their $1 book selection. They got plenty of cool key chains that are anime based characters. They also got plenty of used video game cartridges. Vinyl records in the back. I didn't get a chance to look at every book they got. I'm sure they got more stuff to look at. Recommend: Yess!! Coolest bookstore ever! Selection: huge selections of everything. They have vintage games to vinyl to mango to figurines to dvds/CDs to pokemon cards and one piece cards! Value: value of everything was a great deal! Wasn't seeing anything priced ridiculous. This bookstore is next to Hmart, and this is a place for anime lovers, gaming lovers, someone who loves vintage things. I just felt like I stepped back in the past of the 1990s. Great location with plenty of stuff all around, so it's a good spot to pop in and check out what new stuff arrived. Friendly Staff that greets you upon entering, and when asked questions, were helpful. I have never seen such a section of pop culture in one location. I have never been interested in funko pop, but it was hard not to be pulled in as they have more than I ever seen in one spot. They have all types, and in fact, I actually bought two. They have shelves & shelves of books, they have graphic novels, comics, movies etc. The store is organized and very clean, well-lit, and easy to maneuver even when crowded. Loved coming into this store. I noticed they were taking in labubus, baby 3 ect so I decided to ride my board over and bring in some awesome ones I've held onto. Right when I came in without even fully looking at any I was told they were old and wouldn't accept the and they normally don't but yet hey have a wall FULL of them. I originally left but decided to go back in because I was not to comfortable with the decision without even looking. I went back in just to explain my concern just to have her relook and then tell me oh well we can give $2 for two of them and we'll resale them for $25. I love this area but I really felt like I got a slap in the face. read more

I always love looking at new bookstores. I usually go to the Hmart and have seen this place for a while now so other day I decided to actually go inside. It reminded me a lot of Zia. I have a little bit of everything from collectors,anime, books, CDs. It's not a huge shop, but does have a little bit of everything. I don't know the organization method when I was browsing. I was trying to see if there was something I would like, but it was kind of hard because I'm not sure if it was actually alphabetized. Definitely need to come by here another day. read more

I've always had a great experience at Book Off as a buyer -- the selection is amazing. But today I came in to sell my Bleach manga box sets (volumes 1 and 3), and I was pretty surprised by the offer I received. I was quoted $90 for both sets, even though just a couple of months ago I saw the same box sets selling in the store for around $120-$180 each. I'm not trying to be difficult, but the offer felt unusually low compared to the prices they list them for, and I wanted to express my disappointment in a respectful way, I understand this is the business, but the offer was egregiously offensive. read more

When you walk in, you'll see an excellent selection of collectible figurines and also very unique items from Japan. They also have a row of Gachapon machines! So cool and fun They even sell video games, and consoles here. In the back row our records and vinyls, and they have a great selection of Manga. There's a buy back program! Trade in your gently used goodies for credit! Or cash. Funko Pop lovers this is a great place to check out! My cousin told me about this place and he highly recommend it! So, of course, I had to go check it out. And my expectations were not let down at all! In fact, I was very happy and spent a good 45 minutes in here just browsing around. Sadly, this is the way the Book Offs at least on the West Coast are going. Three shelves in a back corner is the extent of the Japanese book offering here in Mesa. Back in October, I was told at Costa Mesa that their Japanese books had been moved to Torrance and San Diego locations. This location is no different, kind of an end of an era. No Japanese language material buyback here either. If you're a non-Japanese speaking otaku, you'll find a lot here, secondhand video games, figures, toys, gacha pulls, books and media. Prices are almost new for quite a few items though, might as well buy retail elsewhere, worth comparing prices. Service was polite and responsive despite being obviously busy. read more

This newer location opened recently at 2340 W. Bell Road, Phoenix. It is a very attractive location with quite the assortment of used items. I've been haunting used bookstores in Maricopa County since around 1996. Up until recently, selling my used books in both the hardcover and paperback formats was pretty easy. Recently, fewer stores are interested in hardcover books. Paperbacks are just less expensive new/used. I had about 24 hardcover and 6 paperback volumes for consideration, after having my hardcover volumes rejected everywhere else I visited. For my offerings, Book-Off took all 30 items and gave me $8.60. So, at least I was finally able to see those 24 hardcover volumes leave my custody. While shopping, I did find a paperback volume from 1984 that was on my list. Originally, it sold for $14.95 new in the US. In excellent condition, I paid $5.50 + tax for it. Nice condition and nice price. I'm not sure if all of our snowbirds have affected the used book market all that much, but clerks at all stores tell me paperbacks are just more popular currently. I can live with that. read more

New store; super friendly service. Not as large a selection as Bookmans or book organization but still super clean and kept. Gashapon wall was cool (Japanese toy vending machines) but not a lot of different choices and a little pricey. They buy and sell stuff including books and cds and toys etc. They don't offer as much as Bookmans but they also don't charge as much for things as well. Lots of cool Anime and Manga. read more

I love this place, by far my new favorite store. It's like Bookman's but expanding the pop culture and Japanese import sections by a lot. The staff were very friendly they were both fluent in English and Japanese so asking questions about products is easy. I already know I'm going to continue spending lots of money here. read more

Nice place if you like used and cheap dvds/blu rays then go to this place. They also sell old counsels such ps1 ps2 GameCube, etc. The disappointing part was that they don't sell imported music cds from Japan. If your looking for imported music cds from Japan then don't come here. But they sell imported stuff from Korea. Overall the service and people were very friendly and helpful to you. read more
