Blue skies and cheap stuff!!! :-)
Tara K.

I love cheap stuff that is good. So Ollie's is my jam. The store is a big, open Kmart-esque space packed with aisles of deal after deal. There is a wide range of good cheap stuff: housewares, towels, lawn/garden/patio items, small appliances, rugs, bedding, furniture, outdoor and automotive goods, hardware and paint, books, office supplies, party supplies, pet supplies, personal care, storage, etc., etc., etc., and then some. Last time I was in I rounded up a nice quality LED lantern for camping for $4.99, some kitchen items for the camper too, and my husband grabbed a set of hub caps to replace his mismatched ones. The kinds of things you'll find at Ollie's stays somewhat consistent, but the specific stock itself of those things will vary every time you stop in. My only minor gripe is the store isn't the cleanest, but it's a junk store, and is about as clean as you'd expect, I suppose. I enjoy a good treasure hunt at Ollie's, and always come out with some good stuff. Cheap. So IMHO they live up to their word. :-D

Ollie's is a good store that deals in manufacturers closeouts, remanufactured goods along with others items that you typically find in a discount store. They have a large book section so if you are looking for a do it yourself book or even a large table book you cannot beat the prices here. I also discovered Ollie's when I was living in Baltimore and was glad when they opened stores up in Western NY. I like there selections of oriental rugs and have bought a few of them from there over the years with no complaints. Overall I like this store and buying something that has been remanufactured is an excellent bargain and they do come with warranties. One can take a hint with their motto "Good Stuff Cheap" and you would be surprised on the savings you will have.

I went into the store w the receipt and slime and they said they couldn't find it in their system on their iPad. A manager-looking woman came over and said she would go back to the aisle and look. When she came back she said I couldn't return it because it wasn't a product in the store. At this point my blood was a simmer. I say "here's the receipt, here's the slime. It clearly looks like your product. Whether or not you have it come up isn't my problem" The manager looking lady doesn't care and reiterates that if they can't find it, I cannot return it. I decide to go back myself. Imagine the surprise when I go back and find it! This wasn't the first time I had a hassle w returns. They have an old system and they don't take electronic payments. it's just kind of wonky how they do everything at that store. Hence the love-hate relationship! I go shopping at the store sporadically, only because they do have nice things.

I love this store. They always have the cutest decor and staff has always been friendly. The only…read morething I think is ridiculous is they do not honor first responders or military personnel with a discount. This isn't the locations fault but the company's fault! It's a little odd that they sell a variety of patriotic and military career themed decor but then don't offer service (wo)men a discount.

I tend to forget how great Big Lots can be but since the onset of Covid19, I have been saved a few…read moretimes because of this store. When everyone was standing 6ft apart esiting to go I to other stores along Military Rd, I walked right into Big Lots. The only people there were the employees. It was a breath of fresh air. As an essential healthcare worker, I have struggled to find necessities in the last few weeks and the last thing I want to do is stand in a line not knowing if the things I need will be there. However, each time I've walked into Big Lots I'm able to find toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies and a few healthy snacks for my lunch. I am in and out of the store in no time. It's like a hidden secret and I am grateful. One teeny tiny complaint is that in their efforts to abide by social distancing they have corralled the shopping carts so that they create a barrier at the door making the exit only an exit and the same for the entrance. But in doing so, there weren't many carts in the store. It was a little annoying but overall it was still a smooth shopping experience.

I've gotten hand sanitizer, Christmas lights, coffee and many other things for free just by showing my rewards card at the register. I also think Big Lots has good prices and a different selection on food. Their spices are a really good price and some spices come in large containers which works better for me than the tiny ones. They have good practices during this COVID-19 time with everyone wearing masks and distances marked off at checkout. That being said there are some negatives too. I do wish they had bicycle racks since I usually bike there and have to lock my bike to a seating area which isn't ideal. The wait time at checkout can be longer than what seems necessary. The store can be messy and the shelves not stocked well. The employees don't seem to have much useful information when you ask for help. But all in all it's a good store for some reasons....food and free coupons.
