This is one of my happy places! I stop by a lot to browse, pick up a new planner for the year or just read at the cafe or find a nook around the store to sit. It has cool reading and writing gadgets sold near the cash register area and the staff is always helpful if you're ever looking for a particular book. The Starbucks inside is always busy but you will find seating anytime before noon and after 3. All the baristas as super nice, some more than others especially one guy, didn't catch his name, he's a tall African American gentleman who is beyond kind and attentive. He literally walks around with hot water filling up peoples tea cups. No matter how busy they are he will gladly answer questions at the pick up bar or fill up my water bottle. :) Another thing I want to note, and it may not be specific to this location, but it's been 3X that I'll be browsing around the business section and a random person will spark a convo with me, they seem very friendly and ask about the book I'm reading. They'll begin asking about what interests you about that specific type of book, then ask about the work you do and quickly turn into a convo about they're "business ventures" and "business partners" it's all very vague and then they ask for your number to stay in touch. These are pyramid scheme people trying to recruit! I guess books stores are an easy way to interact with others with a similar interest. I've seen the same man two days in a row at the store sparking convos with others. Just thought I'd share. If you're into pyramid schemes then good for you if not, stay woke peeps! read more

I frequently browse this Barnes & Noble as it's close to where I live and near several other useful stores. As a broke college student, my favorite section is obviously clearance. Every time I've been recently, I've seen Doctor Who Pting Funko Pop figures on the top shelf, gradually decreasing in price. Finally yesterday, I caved and bought one. It's now best friends with my cat (see photo). I highly recommend this store. read more

I just don't get it. Love shopping here nut what just happened is a prime example of why people buy online. Had my purchase in my hand waiting to pay. Only one person ahead making their purchase but that person and the cashier kept talking long after with total disregard for me waiting to pay. Shame on the cashier and the customer as well. Quiet place to get work done. Friendly staff and comfortable seating. Plenty of power outlets, and I didn't use their WiFi. Pricing was normal. Tasty treats! Came in for the men's bathroom originally, and it smelled like pee. Pee was all over the floor by the urinal. Not a clean bathroom. read more

I decided to visit a bookstore after many years of not going to one. I was so excited I walked the door and smelled fresh paper back books. I was so excited to find something and begin a new hobby, I walked to the desk and asked a young lady would you happen to know where the Thriller and fiction books are. The young lady then responded to me do you have a mask and I said oh no I forgot I didn't realize we needed one I seen more than 10 people in the bookstore not wearing a mask. She handed me one and as I was about to put it on I asked her so can you point me in the direction of those books.She very rudely said PUT THE MASK ON and I was shocked. Claire I understand that masks are now required but I do not think that's any way to talk to a paying customer. However throughout my experience and long time I spent there another very helpful young lady helped me and I was able to find books and so much more. I will definitely be back! read more

I like this bookstore as it is the only one in my area. The book collection is adequate. The store feels clean and well maintained, the staff is helpful. I read the news about B&N's new ereader, Nook Glowlight 4, available on 12/8/2021. So I was excited to visit the store to check it out. Imagine my surprise when I arrived, there wasn't a poster mentioning the new product in sight, not on the glass door, store windows, or at entrance. I walked to the information kiosk where they display the demo items for ereaders, there is no demo item for the new product. There was a small sign about the new Nook. I asked about it, they checked in the store room, brought a box out, saying they didn't have a demo because they only have limited stocks. Today, 12/14, I visited again and still nothing was displayed except the older models. I don't understand what B&N's marketing strategy is. It seems they are not too excited about their products. Hopefully they will be more visible in coming months. One small suggestion: please move the demo items to the back of the kiosk so people can examine them freely without feeling in other people's way. With them in the front, you'd feel self conscious standing there with the store workers right up there in front of your face; and to feel the need to hurry up and move aside. read more

This place used to be a really great place. But this place has turned into a really poorly run place with damaged books and bad customer service. The employees try to scam you into their membership by promising it is only $10, when it's actually $25. It is very sad how this place had changed so much. read more

Reading enriches the soul! #truestory I am lucky enough to go into Barnes & Noble during "working hours" throughout the week, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a great read. Believe it or not, this location seems to always be somewhat busy, but I enjoy being around people who ultimately enjoy what I do. If reading is something you perhaps like to do in mostly all silence, then this may not be your spot to do that. I would say spend your time looking for a book that calls your name and search for a different location to embark on your reading. At times I have no idea what book to pick up next, but simply sharing a subject with their staff members tends to lead me to the right direction. Also, their cafe food options are pretty good, I'm a fan of their quiche or one of their cookies if I'm going for something sweet. Definitely enjoy this spot! I'm not usually one to leave a review, but I shopped here on Christmas Eve day today around 3-4pm and despite the hectic holiday crowd, the whole staff was cheerful and nice. Had an especially great experience at the cafe, when they happened to be out of peppermint syrup. I had just said it was no problem, but the young man making the drinks got all excited and said they had candy canes and offered to add a couple mini candy canes to my drink instead! The woman wearing eyeglasses stopped me and discriminated me judging me that I stole something even if I provided the receipt and I am paying for the Exclusive Barnes & Noble Membership. I just finished having coffee & food at Starbucks and I was rung by a smaller old lady and it did not caused any trouble. The employee wanted to re-ran again my purchased books even if it has receipt. So that means, the first employee who rand me at the register doesn't know how to be a cash register?!? I was embarrassed and humiliated in front of other people by the register and near the door. So if I were "white", she would treat me better I guess. This store has really changed over the past several years. Besides books, there are lots of puzzles, games, and even toys. I also noticed that vinyl is making a comeback. There is a pretty big section of discount books. I found a lot of puzzle books as well. I purchased an easy crossword book. The store is nicely laid out and very clean. Upon checkout, I got a $2 coupon for a beverage at the cafe. The staff was very helpful, and it was a quick check out. read more

REVIEW FOR CAFE ONLY: It's alright. Food is pretty good, staff are generally nice. Docking points for the environment. There's not a lot of great seating because very few tables have outlets. The tables are extremely small except for a few in the the middle that do not have outlets, and it's usually very crowded. Internet is spotty sometimes. The light flickers so it might be distracting/bad for sensitive people. It's right next to the manga section so you see a bunch off off-putting nerds. Minus the groups of HS students that come to study, generally the cafe seems to be filled with odd-looking people, like the misfits of society. read more

I went to the Dublin CA store today with my daughter and mother looking for books. I am 9 months pregnant and started having contractions, so I sat down on the floor while my daughter finished picking out her book. A customer service rep came over to tell me I couldn't sit on the ground. After explaining I was pregnant and it was physically painful to stand, the rep said I could not sit down because of COVID. How does a pregnant woman sitting on the floor next to her child spread COVID? I need to know if this is a Dublin store policy or if this is the policy for all Barnes and Noble locations. I obviously will not be spending money at any store that tells pregnant women they must either stand or leave. read more

We come to B&N nearly every weekend! It's a great family outing. My kids love to get a big pile of books and read in the cafe. We get coffee and treats, flip through magazines, purchase a few books & boom, instant fairly inexpensive entertainment! God bless their employees for letting us read to our hearts content & then reshelving the books! *there was an awkward time the cafe manager was pushing people to buy products if they were using cafe tables but I'm sure it was unpopular because they don't seem to do it any longer. read more

Books make me happy! I love coming here and treating myself with a new book to read. This bookstore has a big selection of different genre books. I found exactly what I wanted the moment I walked in and saw it in the front shelf of best sellers. I never say goodbye when leaving because I know I'll be back again with a new a book in my hand. Stopped in to Barnes and Noble after a quick trip to Starbucks to look for some dragon themed books for by 10 year old daughter. There was an amazing young woman working in the children's section of the store that helped us locate multiple titles that were of interest to my daughter which was awesome! My daughter has never been much of reader until recently and she is focused on all things dragons. If we can find books that interest her I am always grateful. When we went to checkout and the young woman that was at the register let us know about the membership program and how much it would save us on the purchase we were making that day (we were making a pretty sizable purchase). I was grateful for the knowledge and ended signing up for the membership as we will be returning for more books in the series my daughter has discovered. Overall we had a wonderful experience today! read more

When you can sit in a bookstore and read to see if you're interested in the book (for hours on end), that's what keeps me coming back to this store. Not only is it a good place to kill time while waiting for a movie or something, there are sections for everyone. Especially the children's section, it's decorated so nice; if I was a kid, I'd go nuts for the children's section. This store is pretty clean and definitely very well lit, nothing really out of place (maybe from the occasional Starbucks cup left behind by a rude patron); the test prep area could be organized a bit better since they're out of order all the time and it's a bit hard to look for a certain test. Customer service is very friendly, no complaints there. I could do with a bit more sitting around around the store but at least there are some. I love that there are many puzzles and games for sale here, something fun that's outside of the technological world. It was actually surprising to see Sailormoon and Dragonball figurines here but it was sure blast from the past for me. Final Thoughts: You can find me here buying a puzzle or looking through the entire store for something that would interest me :] Thing's aren't the cheapest here but you can always except to find something informational/useful or fun here. read more

Telling my daughter, "You stand in line, while I'll find and get my book...AIGHT?" Asking one of the associates, "Where can I find John Birmingham's book: "Without warning?" He led me to the sections with the new books and "Bingo...I got my book!" I had enough time to use the lavatory and head over to the magazine section to read April's Edition of Playboy with Playmate Hope Dworaczyk and Playboy's Lingerie Edition with College Coed's featuring Alicia Lettezia. Just by the look on their faces, many of the locals thought this Asian-dude is a HUGE PERVERT". (I like reading Playboy magazine...so what!) After a 20 minute browse around the store, when I got back to meet my daughter, it appears that she didn't move an inch. I asked her, "What happen?" She replied, "I didn't move at all!" Really came here to meet up with a friend who was working inside at the Starbucks. I was able to use the restroom which was quasi clean. The Starbucks inside had cups and water pitchers for self serve at the napkin area. Parking is ok during the time I went, but I know it can get a little dicey during weekends and peak shopping/opening theater weekend. read more

This Barnes & Noble is huge and offers a wealth of comfortable seating. I prefer seats with backs to browse the material, the smaller stores in Walnut Creek and Concord do not offer chairs with backs, just a few benches. I shop here often but do not care for club memberships & am not a member. It's irritating to go through all the member questions & the savings you get with a membership at check out over & over until the end of time. Ugh. But still, a wide variety & quantity of books and magazines for purchase, this store bypasses the others by leaps & bounds, no comparison. read more

Drove over to B&N/Dublin this afternoon and went inside...OMG...it was just like walking inside the Pleasant Hill store (that closed a couple of years ago). Lots of shoppers; lots of books and magazines, and music/videos. Service very friendly. Like going back into time and being in the Pleasant Hill store again. The selection of magazines was outstanding, much better then the Walnut Creek store. The Dublin store has so much more merchandise then the Walnut Creek store; parking is similar to the Pleasant Hill store...always parking unlike the Walnut Creek place. They also have a large children's section; the food/drink court is large (much larger then the Pleasant Hill store had). I would strongly encourage those wanting to go back into time of when the Pleasant Hill B&N was still there to visit and shop the Dublin B&N. read more

I was glad to see a decent computer-related book section with a decent number of software development books. The magazine area seemed as disorganized as they are at any of their stores. The one downside of B&N is the price. That said, it is one of our favorite chains to visit and hang out. We have spent so much time in these bookstores over the years with out little boy, browsing, reading and hanging out in the cafe. B&N also has an amazing selection of learning toys and games, puzzles etc. This particular location is large, clean, well-organized and has great play areas for the kids including a Duplo station. Both of my kids enjoyed that one. It could benefit from a few more seating areas. Maybe away from the shelves so that other patrons aren't bothered by those of us who do like to take a closer look at the books (and also those of us who are breastfeeding and want a little comfort and privacy). read more

Love coming here to grab a good book and relax! The Starbucks cafe inside has a huge menu and the baristas are super friendly.. the only thing is you can't use Starbucks Rewards for this cafe since its in Barnes and Nobles but the coffee is superb as usual. The wifi works well for laptops but is a bit slow on phones sometimes. There is plenty of seating and you can usually find a spot except sat/sun afternoons when it's packed with the local residents and families. They have some outlets for tables near the walls but other tables do not have any outlets nearby so that can be a bit inconvenient for those using laptops for an extended period of time. Love their selection of books and organization- its easy to find the Best Sellers and New Releases as they are placed near the entrance so you don't have to spend hours searching. The workers are generally pretty friendly and are helpful if you can't find something. I know people have said they had bad customer service experiences but in my past 10yrs or coming here I'v never had such an experience- it was all positive. I do wish they had more armchairs or regular chairs spread out around the place like other locations do since during peak hours there's limited seating. The parking is plentiful as it's in a huge plaza so thats not a problem. As for the restroom in the back, it is absolutely unsanitary and needs better maintenance and/or upgrade!! Only major con for the store. Kind of surprising since the rest of the store is in great condition! read more

Desperately want to give a zero to this store but yelp won't let me.. Here's why.... Barnes n Nobles in Dublin, you have hit an all time low for me. Its not my first time in that store but it will definitely be my last. Went to get some study material & use the bathroom. Had some time to kill, so I figured I would get coffee and check out the material I purchased for VBS this year online. Had the material in my backpack. Walked in with it. Door buzzer never made a sound.. Started nodding off in the middle of reading so I figured it was time to go... gathered my things and threw them in my backpack. Heading out the door, the alarms sound ( they had not gone off at all my entire 45 minutes in the store.) I kept walking, since the woman who helped me had kept her eye on me the entire time. (Violation # 1)She runs out yelling for me to stop and come back as she needed to see what I had purchased.... Huh huh! You just rang me up less than 30 minutes ago, you couldn't have forgotten bc I was the only black person in the whole store.. but ok, not a big deal.. I will give her the benefit of doing what I assumed was a part of her job..I guess.. I let her know that the only thing I had was what she helped me ring up at her register and purchase.... she still needed to search me by asking me to show her what I had purchased. Again seriously confused because this very same woman helped me make my purchase. Once my backpack was open she decided to take a peek into my backpack... (violation for the second time.) I had two VBS DVD's in my bag, totally unrelated to the store by far and she had to see them. I'm thinking, Ok Lady, you just saw me walk in here and you saw me when I opened the same area to retrieve my wallet...seriously lady..! By this time my heart is about to jump out my chest as it dons on me what she's doing.. So I hand her the cds and the one item I purchased to appease her little mind. Whatever !!! She takes them to the same counter she checked me out on and rubs them on their little censor at the same time reading and checking out the dvds. Barely touching the item she helped me purchase.. for real.. Then she brings everything back to me with a fake smile stating "oh yeah, your dvds must have been it" ..... No lady, if that was the case, the censors would have went off when I walked myself and my backpack with my DVDs up in here... Not Today Devil!!! I will not be going back and I'm canceling my membership that I pay for every year. You just can't understand how humiliating, violated and just hurt I have felt since then and being that I take my children with me.. (luckily they were not with me this trip) ... never mind because my reaction may have been different.. Simply disgusting!! read more

This store has a huge selection of books and really nice staff. I bring my sons to browse the kids area which is really spacious and separate from the rest of the store. They even have a large toy section, which is great when you're shopping for a birthday gift because there are no more toy stores in the area. Sales are good and becoming a member gets you lots of coupons. We love our local Barnes & Noble! read more
