It has been years since I went into this store. I would buy my weekly comic books till about 2010, then started to work from home and stopped going in. The place still looks pretty much the same and I got great service from the owner. He told me that he will more than likely close up the business in the next year and retire. Love This shop! I always come here for everything I need. From penny sleeves, top loaders, team bags, pages, empty boxes, etc He has a 5 or 6 boxes on the display case full of 25 cent cards and some that are price as marked. I miss Jim He is only there once a week but Tony is pretty sharp about cards. He explained about all the packs for sell and which ones are best to buy based on "pulls" like Autos inserts Numbered etc. I don't know anything about comics but they do have a pretty nice selection on the right when you walk in. If you are looking for a $hit load of comics then you are coming to the wrong shop. If you have a question about anything, just ask, don't leave the shop. Don't get mix feelings this shop has a bad reputation. You need to speak up. This shop will buy cards even graded but you need to have something they are really interested in. "Meaning" something they can definitely resale. read more

Trader Js Cards and comics is an amazing place to visit. They have mostly new comics and few dollor bin boxes that are filled with pretty cool stuff. I came here a few times to pick up some comics that I need for my run, and they have it. I wish they did have Image comics, but it's cool, I can order from another comic shop. One of, if not THE best card shop in the area. The owner, Jim, is a real nice guy, real knowledgable and fun to talk ball with. He keeps very up to date with all the newest sets, especially with baseball. But there's also a very solid variety of Star Wars, basketball, comic books, other collectibles. I don't quite know what it is, but I seem to have an incredible amount of luck with pulling inserts in the boxes I buy at this shop. Very highly recommended. I called and asked if they had graded comics and the guy on the phone said "no we don't have graded comics" with a rude tone and hung up. Just moved to the Dublin area and stopped by this store on a walk one day. If you're into sports cards, you could be there for hours! Lots of stuff to choose from (ALL major sports) as well as supplies, memorabilia, and comic stuff. Prices are great and I believe you can sell cards here as well. The owner is super helpful, personable, and let me roam about the store at my own leisure. Got a great deal on a handful of Warrior cards and will be coming back for more frequently! I've always wanted to check this place out, but for some reason I haven't. So today after getting dinner I decided to drop by with my younger brother. From the outside, this place looks really small and lonely, but the inside is actually quite spacious and nice. The owner is really good. He greets you warmly when you enter and then gives you space to look around until you ask for help. So, I'm actually more into animated movies and series and maquettes, but this place has some pretty interesting stuff. This store is very much focused on sports cards, which I had no idea were still so popular. Overall, pretty awesome place. Great organization. The only minor letdown was that it doesn't seem to carry superhero graphic novels. Not that I couldn't buy them online or at book stores, but I'd rather support small businesses. read more

Nice and clean! I was in Dublin for a couple of hours and I looked up this store to check it out while I was there and I was definitely pleased with what I had found! The guy working there (don't know if he was the owner or not) was really friendly. They had mostly new comics and a FEW back issues with a smattering of action figures and some cards of some sort. I was really kind of in and out of there fast so I did not get to really look closely at everything but it was definitely a nice little place that i will re-visit if I get out there again. read more

I've been to this place a lot. I've found issues of comics that I thought I would never see at good prices. Most comic book shops sell things for whatever price they want for whatever reasons they have. Jim's shop is clean, simple and generously priced. He also sells comic book trading cards, one of the few fads I was into in elementary school that I wish had never gone away. So now I'm slowly building that collection up again. With the trading cards, he sells them by packs of a few variety and sells sets of trading card series that range from ten dollars to fifteen dollars maybe more. Seeing the cards again brings back lots of memories. Jim also has a small collection of toys for sale. I bought two Hot Wheels Batmobiles (1989) at a low price of only $3.00 each. A lot of the products in his store are things that interest my personality. There are also boxes of comics that sell for a dollar each (the comics, not the whole box). I found Green Arrow comics written by Kevin Smith for a dollar. For all you sports fans, he has glass displays for baseball, basketball and football cards. You can tell he is a home fan. A's cards, Raiders and Niners. I'm planning on buying all the Joe Montana cards to give to my brother. Jim doesn't bother you either. He greets you and lets you keep to yourself unless you have a question. He runs a well formulated shop that has lasted for I believe he said fourteen years. Would not recommend "Trader J's" at all. Went in during the holidays this year, and found the place a disheveled mess. None of the books on their wall ("new books", I guess) are in order, and it's impossible to find anything. Their back issues are the same sort of mess. Nothing in order, and the items that are priced are a good 2-5 times what they sell for on eBay. However, I like to buy comics, so I dove into the "$1 books" section, and pulled out several dozen (86 in all.) I also pulled out some priced books, and a "new": book (Walking Dead #108, almost a year old) from the new book wall. I did not ask for a discount for the dollar books, but did inquire about the priced books. I was told they were being sold "for someone else", and there was no discount. I put back the overpriced books, and ended up with about $110 worth of total merchandise. "Trader J" himself, the owner "Jim" rang me up. I then proceeded to let him know I had a resale license, so I did not have to pay the tax. He then hemmed and hawed about it (keeping in mind that this is money that goes to the state, and all he has to do is write the number down and not charge me tax), and then, incredibly, he said "I'm already giving you these books at a discount"...what?? I hadn't gotten any discount! I was paying the marked price for the books! Apparently, he thinks that selling 5-10 year old unsold back stock for $1 is "giving a discount"...yet another dealer from the 90's who doesn't understand the concept that getting rid of backstock, regardless of the original cover price, is NOT giving a buyer a "discount." $1 is what they were worth, and $1 is what I was willing to pay for them. No discount. Anyhoo, "Trader J" then says "it's only $10 or so, and my boss will get mad at me if I do this"...um...he's the OWNER. When I pointed that out, he then covered his lie by saying "oh, well, yes, but I don't do the taxes." When I said "thanks for wasting my time", he replied "well, if you had told me at the beginning"...what?? How was I supposed to know he'd refuse a RESALE number from the state of California, something no one does?? Finally, he said "I don't care if you don't pay the tax, it's not worth my time, and I don't need the business." What???! Then why even HAVE a business, if you don't need it? Close down, get out of the market, and let someone who DOES need the business to be in your place. Yet another lazy comic book "dealer" who can't be bothered. I'm fairly certain refusing to accept a resale number is against California State Law, and he will be reported to the state Board of Equalization as well as the city of Dublin economic development dept. Thanks, Trader J, for wasting my time. I may even consider a small claims case for wasting my time and refusing a sale based on something that had nothing to do with you. read more

I've been going to this store, since when it used to be on San Ramon Valley Blvd, (Now on Amador and Village Parkway, behind the Jack in the Box and Arco Station). Jim the owner is a really friendly and honest guy and he's always treated his customers with respect. His store is more focused on sports and movie cards, than comics and to this I Give Jim alot of credit for catering towards myself and others since im strictly a comic book collector. Check out his racks of books, some of them are 10 years old, and you just might find that key issue you're looking for. A small store, but always loaded with surprises for the Collector, and I really Emphasize if you was a are frequent collector who gets alot of independent titles you want saved, THIS is the Place to come to! You could drive right by this shopping center and miss this great little comic shop. The owner sells all his new comics bagged and boarded at no extra charge. He is also willing to do savers of not just the popular titles but independents too. He's a really nice guy and a comicbook junkie like the rest of us. They sell some cards, figures and anime but I would say that this store is 80% comicbook focused. If you're in Dublin and looking to purchase some new comics you can usually find the latest and greatest here and in pristine condition. This compact comic shop is worth your time. read more

I like comic book stores but there is just nothing special about this place. Like others seem to echo it might be a great place for the card guys but for comics, not so much. The books behind other books aren't even the same title more often than not so the place really is just a disorganized mess if you're a comic fan. Friendly owner, nice and clean store with a good selection for a shop of its kind. One of my friends got me into collecting autographed sports cards and the like. The bad: in my beginning hobbyist gullibility and naivete, I didn't know any better, and paid much more for certain cards that I will probably never make money on if I wanted to sell them. Yes, buyer beware and all that, but I probably got taken advantage of price wise. The single autographs are pricey and I've stopped coming. If I buy any cards, I take my chances on Ebay. Highly recommend you look online to see what people are paying for the cards you're interested in before you buy. And if you do come here, be ready to haggle some. read more

For the card guys I'm sure this place is the bees knees, but I was underwhelmed. I asked about graphic novels, they have none, the owner said "We CAN'T carry those" rather rudely. I can see being told, though I would have preferred a nicer way, that maybe he didn't think they'd sell, or that he just wasn't interested in selling them, but to come out and just say he can't was off putting. The comics are also really disorganized with many titles behind each other with no real rhyme or reason. I get the vibe that this is an older retired guy who really doesn't care much about the comic half of his store. read more
