Just order thru Amazon or other online bookseller. It's easier, generally cheaper, and you don't have to Stand in a checkout line for 40 minutes in a place that has 5 registers and ONE cashier working 4 days after CHRISTMAS. So I need a final gift for a late Christmas get together and I was ordering online but as I'm doling the search I saw it was in stock and available at the local B&N at The Fountains so I think HEY! I'll just go get it now! It's about 2:30. Well I haven't graced their doors in Years! So as you walk in there is a "help desk" and I think hey ask them, it's better than wandering around for 20 minutes searching for that section. So I go up to the desk and ask the lady where the Bible's are and she says follow me ... and I do. And of course it's like Going to Costco for a Rotisserie Chicken... they are all the way in the back. Good move using the help desk. Because I'd have thought the most famous book ever in print would be closer to the front but I was wrong. I thanked the lady an began to peruse the section for the one or one like what I wanted ... I found 2-3 I wanted to sit down and compare... there was a one chair at the end of that book stack. So I did sit a minute and go thru some pages the I remembered seeing another one on the shelf I wanted to see if it had red lettering .. so I got up and went to get it and came back to the chair and now a lady was sitting in it, playing games on her phone. So I'm standing there with 3 books looking for a chair.. I wander around, all thru the kids area, all thru several other stack of books and sections, no chairs period. It appears the Bible section chair is the ONLY chair in the back of the place... as you go back forward I found just 2 more chairs, occupied. Back in the day, years ago when I was a semi regular at B&N, there were chairs everywhere! At the ends of all the stacks. There was even a lot of chairs in the children's area for reading circles. Today I saw People on walkers and canes trying to shop, who I bet would have appreciated a lowly CHAIR to sit in and read a paragraph or two, to decide if they wanted to buy the book or not... that's what it used to be about at B&N, reading... and getting SA book to take home... oh sure you could TRY to hobble all the way BACK to the front of the mammoth store to the Starbucks cafe and sit there but it's full of teens laughing and giggling & drinking free water and head some adult readers but the on is the tables are all full and it's noisy boisterous, with coffee machines bubbling and spewing. And all you want is nice semi quiet place to sit and look at the book a few moments, without having someone steal it so they can sit and play telephone games. So anyway, I make my choice and move to the front to pay and leave.... There are, I counted 17 people in line to check out. One cashier. Now the help desk has 5 ladies. But not the checkout. 4 days after Christmas. When people are making exchanges, cashing in gift cards and Barnes Bucks or whatever they are called that kids save up for every time they buy books... or toys they earn points they can cash in, if they can find their account or card for new toys or books... you learn a lot of this by over hearing as you stand in line for 40 MINUTES waiting to simply buy the one book you chose and LEAVE. After the 30 minute mark my back went into spasms. I can't a tan for long periods of time, I should not be standing in a line this long just to buy a Bible at the bookstore with 5 cash registers 4 days after Christmas. Finally at this point one of the help desk ladies comes over be cause the line BEHIND ME now is like 17 waiting as well, and I progressed about 8 thru. Things pick up now and move twice as fast with two cashiers. At the 40 minute mark I finally get to the counter JUST as Second Lady from the help desk also comes over and opens a 3rd register. I tell my cashier NO. I don't have a B&N card, no, I don't want one or to join any club, I just want to pay for my purchase and GO. And that it's RIDICULOUS you have people standing in this line for 40 minutes! I pay and take my Bible and leave. It took me all of 2 MINUTES for my transaction. If you have and expect exchanges & Returns , you need a separate area for that thru the first of January. Not at the checkout lane. It's too time consuming and inhibits other customers from simply completing their shopping trip, paying and leaving. And why at 2:30 with 17 people in a congested line do you only have ONE CASHIER 4 days after Christmas?? School is still out, people are still off from many jobs, it's a SUNDAY, the store is what I would call FULL. ‍‍ One Star for the lady at the help desk who took me all the way back to the Bible's section. read more

We love coming to B&N to get books and sometimes enjoy the drinks & snacks at the cafe. The selection of books is good & the food they serve in the cafe is good as well. We do have the rewards member card that we pay extra for and that is a great value so we do get some good rewards. We have also ordered books and attended book release parties here which have been great. The only problem that we have is the service we receive when we go to the Customer Service counter. Several times we have been treated rudely when utilizing it to ask questions. Today we waited at the counter and finally a lady named Mary came to assist us. She was not friendly and seemed to be upset at the question we asked and she sent us to the cash registers to get the book we had ordered. If you are going to work in customer service I think you should at least have a friendly disposition and treat customers nicely instead of scowling at them. read more

Went online because I had a giftcard to spend the fifty bucks. Found the experience to be glitchy to the point that it was painful. Had to get customer service on the phone, actually had to use product descriptions to talk to the man, not product numbers, or I had to leave the shopping cart and go back to find the upc numbers for the items as a reference. I have a few dollars left on the card, not going to bother with it. One purchase was enough for this company. read more

Located in the Fountains at Farrah (my favorite place to be) I have no experience with Barnes and Noble, so I have no idea how big one is supposed to be, but this one seems rather large to me. I don't like to leave bad reviews but in all honesty I don't think I've ever felt more unwelcome at a Barnes and Nobles. I had a little bit of trouble finding a book and approached an employee named Laura; she was so rude. She seemed so irritated I even bothered to approach and when I asked for the novel she completely dismissed me and walked off. I then found another associate to help my search and they led me to the section almost immediately; I then explained what had happened and they seemed surprised claiming she was a manager. Honestly it makes me really sad that someone would be so condescending, especially in a position of power. I was visiting from East Texas and it sucked bc everyone else in El Paso was so nice. There's never been much demand for books in El Paso, that's why there are only two general bookstores in town, the eastside and westside Barnes & Noble locations. Like the Sith, there can only be 2, so this location is replacing the Viscount location, which is now closed. As you'd expect, this location improves greatly on its predecessor, not just in location, but in size and layout, it's an impressive store, a book browser's paradise! I've never minded the book moochers much (magazine moochers are a different story), but at other locations they do crowd the aisles making browsing uncomfortable, but this is a much more spacious store. The best feature, in my opinion, is the magazine section's layout. What this city lacks in demand for literature it makes up ten times in demand for MMA, Lowrider, and gun magazines. I don't care if that's your thing, everyone's taste is their own, but the last location was always just jam packed with people who came to read these magazines at the store and made a mess out of the whole section, and I think it was because the benches were right there by the magazines. This location, the magazine section is less accommodating to these moochers, and that's just fine in my book, pun intended. read more

Decent size Barnes & Nobles. It's kind of smaller than the ones I've ever visited but big enough to find what you need. Not only book, but they also sell toys and puzzles. I like to come here to find birthday gifts for my friends' kids. I don't have kids so I have no idea what kind of toys I should get but all of their toys are categorized as age so I can just go to the right aisle and pick ones they might like. Also, they will give you a box/wrapping paper for free if you ask for it and it's actually super cute. I should've taken a picture of it. I will next time. During the Christmas season, they have a Christmas themed wrapping paper too! read more

I was sent a harassing message by Joe from the café who claims that my issue was that my husband paid $2 for the water and I did not. Well, I couldn't because I was never offered the opportunity to purchase water since I was made to feel like I was a stupid person by the way talked to me, the way looked at me, the way he shook his head at me as if to say "Why don't you just leave this place because you are such a silly child for wanting water in a café that serves only glorified hot pockets." I would have loved the privilege of being treated like a PAYING CUSTOMER except I wasn't afforded it due to the combination of my gender and skin color and it was OBVIOUS. If there is one thing I can say I love about this place is how nice the employees are. Whether it may be recommending a new book for me to read or just being helpful when it comes to me finding the stuff I'm looking for, the peeps here seem to always go the extra mile and offer that smile that most places seem to lack these days. Their chairs are back and pretty comfy if you feel like jumping into a book as soon as you see it. Their clearance boxes are always on point when it comes to good stuff and their selection of vinyl is more than plenty. I always find good books on sale here. This store is newer, clean, and modern, but the staff is rude and unhelpful. I've been here several times and have encountered staff with attitudes or pure laziness. Even when calling to get information I've been told to call back in ten minutes because they are busy. Is only one person working? Barnes is great but the silly people working the starbucks have a bad attitude. I walked in today with a cake from the next door shop. As I am person my drink the chick says I cant have it there. There is no sign posted that I cant. So of you ready this you need to get on that instead of embarrassing people woth your attitude. And furthermore I WAS BUYING A DRINK I want coming in to to just sit down and use your tables. I often go in and get coffee and gov my children their snacks instead of buying your frozen crap cakes.
