This is my favorite Barnes and Noble! This location is such a gem. The location is great, located in the Bay Street shopping area. After you shop, you can then relax with a book at the cafe here at the book store. It is such a large location as well. They have everything you are looking for. Beyond books, they have toys, cars and and several other unique finds! We walked about and then pulled up to the cafe to have a matcha and a breakfast sandwich. Such a delightful way to start the day! Overall, will I be back? Yes! I enjoy visiting this location whenever I am in Emeryville!

I drove all the way from Vallejo because I received an email stating that my order was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was told, "I don't know why your item got accepted, but we don't have it available." This is unacceptable. I am handicapped and had to arrange transportation just to get here, based on your confirmation that the item was ready. To be told "I don't know" after all of that is extremely frustrating and disappointing. This has been by far the worst experience I've had at any location.

So many options in this large location in a mall. Two stories to wander through. Found two books to take home which is always a warm feeling for me. First time there on my weekend drive and will chose this again.

Situated within the Bay Street Emeryville shopping center, it's a convenient and well-stocked store. Reviewers on Reddit have praised it as "the nicest one near the city" and a good place to find specific titles. While some mention the reduction of physical media like CDs and Blu-rays, the store remains a solid destination for books, including new releases and bargain finds. With a cafe, it's a perfect place to grab a coffee and browse for your next read.

It's the largest bookstore I'm aware of locally...I wasn't even sure it was still open until my cousin asked me to go. The place is spotless as it's always been every time I e gone. It's quiet and has the usual wide selection of books. No incantation books for Halloween kiddos. Lol It sounds horrible, but I've all but stopped reading books and read mostly online articles, and job related materials of that sort (Sad). Anyone else kinda enjoy the smell of a new book? Lol, ok, if crisp was a smell then I like the smell of new books and that's that. The place smelled like it should and you would never know there was a cafe/coffee place upstairs. I appreciate that. There was so many good looking books (Yes, I like looking at the art in the comics and anything else with great art) and I was tempted to buy a few only not to read them. What stopped me from buying books for show was the prices! Yikes, can't say they are overpriced but they are pricey and I don't know that enough people are buying these books for them to be $25 and up. I'm still trying to finish the books I have. I will be back to find a new book to read (no pictures) in the near future. Cheers to the Noble.

Spacious, cute fireplace area, cafe, and conveniently part of the mall. Lots of books to choose from.

I'm a non-fiction bookworm and this place is a heaven. The value for most books is reasonable and lower than a regular book store. I loved how organized it was on each floor and there were posted guides if you wanted to see more what floor to find them. They have a top floor with staff by appointment for special books. Other than that there's no staff interaction except at payment. I also loved they had table and chair seatings in random places be use you will get tired of checking out everything. Yes, I left with 7 books, no regrets and wish I could've taken more. I will def be back! They have straits and elevators but I recommend taking the stairs as they have interesting frames on the way and shop on lower level by stairwell.

Great selection of books! Seems like some books are centuries old and still in great condition. The…read morebooks they have to offer too are affordable and reasonable! The staff is great. Super friendly and welcoming, extremely willing to help upon your visit. You can also sell books here. They are picky with what you bring in, must be in pristine condition, no writing in books, and all hard covered books must have sleeves. They sell for a great trade-in but their cash isn't great. Definitely check them out!

I fell in love with Spectator Books as soon as I walked in!…read more I love that there's a station to leave your water bottles and drinks. I also appreciate that they have masks available if needed and offer them proactively. On top of that, they provide free drug testing kits, like fentanyl test strips -- which is so vital, especially with the spike in fentanyl overdoses and contaminations in recreational substances. It's just really nice to see that kind of care in the community. The range of books is massive -- both new and used. The selection of new books is decent, but the used book selection (and price) is phenomenal. They also have a whimsical collection of bookmarks, stickers, and random stationery, which is super charming. Honestly, it's just a really solid bookstore. The first time I visited, I'm pretty sure I spent like two and a half hours just browsing all the sections I was interested in -- and there were so many. Lots on religion and spirituality, metaphysics, physics, psychology, cookbooks, music, art, fashion -- so many topics that caught my eye. I took my time and walked out with maybe $125 worth of books and oracle cards, which was such a joy. They also have a book exchange policy where you can trade in books for store credit, but you need to make an appointment to do so. The last time I visited was maybe a month ago, but I'm thinking about going again... tomorrow! XD
