Came in here today to find fashion coffee table books but they didn't have any :( It's a big Barnes & Noble store that has a cafe inside. Makes me want to study even if I don't have anything to study for LOL They didn't have want I wanted this time, but maybe I'll give it another chance. The only game in town if you want a place to browse books and magazines these days. Fortunately the Starbucks inside is well trained producing beverages correctly unlike some other bookstore brew shops. There is a decent amount of seating in the cafe along with sparse seating spread out through the rest of the store. If you are really desperate for a spot to sit a peruse go to the Kid's section there is a large table there that is normally empty :) read more

LOVE this bookstore! Actually I love bookstores in general because one of my favorite hobbies is to read. This is located in a nice and well kept shopping area. It's right across the mall and nestled with small restaurants here and there. It is well lit and the hours are excellent. I also enjoy coming here for their Starbucks although every time I come they seemed to be short staffed or they generally only staff one person to make all the drinks. It can be quite a wait. The employees are quite helpful and everything is well organized and labeled so your not confused or browsing for days looking for a book. If you are looking to study, grab one of the small tables if your lucky! I like to sometimes sit and browse the magazines and also look up all the new books that have come in. Oy vey - I couldn't believe how hard it was to find/buy a book here. I swung by yesterday around 11am thinking that I'd miss the crowds. Boy, was I wrong. The place was busy! I tried to get the attention of an B & N employee for some assistance, and they were all busy helping customers. 20 minutes later, and I still couldn't get the attention of anyone. I tried finding the book on my own, but to no avail. This place is freakin' huge! It's almost overwhelming. On this particular day it was raining outside, and the store had a pretty foul mildew smell. To top it all off, there seemed to be a convention of crying babies and exhausted, frustrated mothers in the children's section. At long last, a nice employee helped me find my book. Yay - now I can finally get out of here! Or so I thought. As it turned out, they only had one lady working the register - and 5 people ahead of me waiting in line. The cashier was trying to ring up an elderly lady - and the lady wouldn't stop blabbing about her grandchildren and anything else that came to her mind. Now obviously, I don't blame the cashier. But when you see a long line queue of annoyed customers waiting to pay and get out of here, you got to speak up and request some back-up and/or tell the old lady it's time to move on. 10 minutes later I finally got my turn to pay. After what seemed like a game of 20 questions (Are you a Barnes & Noble rewards member? Would you like to sign up for our rewards program and receive a 15% discount? Would you like a bag? Paper or plastic?), I finally paid and walked out of the store with my new book. I'm all about supporting brick & mortars. But after an experience like this, it made me want to purchase my next book on Amazon. read more

My husband and I had a date night and we didn't plan that well because we didn't have any plans. . But, we ended up going to the Barnes and Noble Starbucks Café. That afternoon they gave us 2 samples of the October seasonal flavors of Pumpkin Cheesecake and Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino. Very delicious. I got my favorite green tea Frappuccino. We had a good time together just wasting time without kids. read more

This particular Barnes & Noble is well stocked, their Comic Graphic Novels selection is great and the Customer Service does a bang up job. 3 times I had to special order a book and it came within a matter of days (vs. 2 weeks at some other places) Also the books are in great condition (like new) prior to purchasing! For a Barnes & Noble store, this place is A-OK. While you'll probably find your typical bestsellers, you'll be appalled by the selection of business books and computer books. While my wife was shopping away at JC Penney, I came here to pass the time. I browsed through their Science Fiction selection, which is acceptable, and I tried to look for technology books, but I found a serious deficiency there. Just comparing the selection of technology books with B&N Walnut Creek, I found myself wishing that I was in the city some 25 miles Southwest of Fairfield. I picked up a few books but ended up buying nothing... I'm sorry but I gotta say that I really was non-impressed with this store and I certainly wouldn't bother browsing through the aisles since they don't come close to meeting my literary expectations. read more

I love coming here! The smell of books, the warm aroma of coffees and desserts, and the lovely ambiance of wooden bookshelves and furniture; it all is so inviting. My love of libraries and bookstores will never fade and I love coming here to just either browse around or spend hours reading and drinking coffee. They have a small cafe that sells Starbucks coffee and various desserts. I tried the chocolate cheesecake which is amazing! Made by the Cheesecake Factory. There's plenty of seating in the cafe and various seats around the bookstore. They have everything you could want; magazines, journals, self help, cookbooks, educational books, etc. Books are slightly more expensive than you would find on Amazon but they do carry an enormous selection of many titles. I can always find what I'm looking for here. Bathrooms however lack maintenance and needs further attention. Staff is helpful in helping you find titles and they always have great sales on DVDs and music. If only there was a bookstore in Vallejo! read more

I have to give four stars for their staff tonight! My friend and I went in with a mental list of what we wanted but our brains are tiny and we of coures couldn't remember the title for either book. The first was easy "prozac and cereal or cocoa puffs, or something?" "I know exactly what you're talking about sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs" DONE! The second was a Dr. Seuss and all my friend could remeber was "it started with an 'H' and had a funny word in it" awesome. On a road trip, I needed a Moleskine notebook for journaling, Yelped bookstores in the next town coming up and here I was! I just basically ran in and out, but the store itself seemed huge, well-organized, and was easy to find off I-80. I love their clearance section with bargain books and blank notebooks - if I wasn't so particular about how I like blank notebooks like Moleskines lay flat, I'd have gone for their generic version of the journals for a quarter of the price. read more

I needed to waste some time before meeting my friends for lunch. This is your typical Barnes and Noble. New books in the front of the store. The clearance books stacked neatly on the shelves. I was surprised that their clearance section didn't have that may selections. Another plus to this B&N, their bathrooms do not require a key to get inside. Just don't try to steal anything or the sensors will go off as you enter the bathroom. read more

Friendly staff but they need more latin cookbooks, and more cds. Nice cafe too but they need more organic options on the menu. Also, more chairs and stools. More private areas would be nicer too. read more

I love this place, the selection was a little on the slim side for the true crime section but I was able to gather a few books. Customer service in the children's section was on point. The cashier in the front Jerrica was rude and not very personable. Unfortunately, her bad attitude and pushy salesman tactics ( rewards card) will keep me from returning! read more

The starbucks in here is AMAZING, besides the fact that they don't take the starbucks app and gold card -__- they also serve Cheesecake Factory cheesecake and cupcakes ans their food selection is a different twist on the regular starbucks food. Other than that, the barnes and noble is large and quiet so it's great for studying, and of course, carries a large selection of books. read more

I visited the store today looking for a figurine for my son's birthday party. I saw that they were out of stock of the one I wanted but they had a display model. When I asked the cashier to check and see if I can purchase the display model, he turned to another checker who automatically shut down the conversation. They didn't even bother to make an effort to satisfy the customer. I felt if you didn't have the figurines to sell, take it off the display model. I left the store very upset and to top it off the store associates didn't care if I returned. read more

I always find what I need in here, and it's always a great place to find a good gift for friends or family, there's not a good majority of book stores in town so it's nice to at least have a Barnes & Nobles in town that's also a pretty decent size. I also lost my keys once and they quickly helped me find them, (my keys were in the row I just finished looking at books LOL) and their help was well appreciated. Love this place, except I do notice that the security scanners tend to beep randomly on me and other people, which is odd but can get a bit annoying at times. read more

Disappointing experience in store. Why would a retailer refuse to match the online price of an item that's on their own proprietary website? That doesn't seem like smart business. The same 2 books I wanted to purchase were listed on bn.com for 40% less than the store price... the associates reason for refusing to price match... They come from a different location. Wth?!? What difference does that make? Needless to say, I stood right in front of her and purchased the books online using my smart phone. Also- even the the books were a little cheaper on bn.con, I decided to give my money to Amazon since bn wasted my time. Shipping is free and faster on Amazon anyway. Pretty much the ONLY bookstore in town... and soooooo much better than Borders (in Vacaville). I needed a Nurse's pocket guide to drugs for class... FOUND IT. I love the wedding section as well. And if you're looking for a certain magazine and can't find it anywhere.... you'll find it HERE! Huge plus is they have a Starbucks AND a DVD/CD in the back section to keep the hubby occupied while I flip thru the girly magazines... LOL. read more

I was going to buy the new book Five Nights at Freddy's Fazbear Frights #2 Fetch and the person helping was so nice. I only had $10 and the book was $10.83 in total and I told the person I'm sorry that I was missing $0.83 but they told me it's okay and that he would pay for it because he believes that everyone should read and that he encourages kids to read as well. Thank you very much Blaine for allowing me to get the book. The workers here are definitely great so I say this place should get 5 Stars. read more

Worst customer service I have received this holiday season. I called the store asked if a book was in stock the customer service person said I could order it online and it would be available for pick up and I would be able to avoid a long line wait which I thought would be great since today was my only day off and this would help me with my Christmas shopping. After placing my online order I received my confirmation and which stated I would receive a text message when my order was ready for pick up, I was already shopping nearby and the customer service person said online orders are usually processed within a matter of minutes of order placement. When I arrived at the store I browsed for about 25-30 minutes and even purchased a book by Michelle Obama for my daughter that was with me before receiving an email stating the order didn't meet the pick up policy, which was strange since it was in stock on the store shelf and available for purchase. It seems that Barnes and Noble are making at whim exceptions to specific titles even though they have nothing on there website that alerts customers to what can be purchased online and picked up in store prior to making the purchase. Then to make matters even worse the store manager was very dismissive and didn't even try to help other than saying some title are not available to pick up from online orders. I would rather purchase from Amazon where I can get the same item delivered overnight to my home using my prime account and at a lower price as well. I just figured I would shop local but after this experience I am done with Barnes and Noble.. on a side note while I was browsing I spoke with an older lady she stated she always orders her books online from Barnes and Noble and receives them very quickly so hats off to her she was the only good experience at this store visit. read more

I like bookstores. They have books. & A great selection at that. I've found many books that I would not have even imagined existed. OMG, AND THE MUSIC SECTION! I'm not saying it's incredible, but I've always had such amazing staff helping me. One even conversed with me about The Ramones & tours coming up in our area. The place is expensive but don't let that deter you from coming. This place is large and staffed with very friendly and helpful people who will help you with a smile on their faces. I love coming here and just browsing around, looking for a book to read on my spare time. There are a lot of miscellaneous items strewn all about too that you can get like stocking stuffing stuff. The parking lot's huge so there's never an issue parking here and there are other stores adjacent to it that makes this place a good spot if you're going to go shopping for stuff other than books. read more

As I entered this Barnes and Noble, I noticed how cluttered it was. Were they having a huge clearance and sidewalk sale inside? Thats what it felt like. I proceeded to look for a particular book and I couldn't find it. I went to customer services to get assistance in finding this book, and it took over 10 minutes for me to hunt someone down to assist me. They looked short staffed, so I let this one go. But when I asked her for help, she replied "Have you browsed around yet?" Are you serious? If I am asking, I am sure I have looked. She then proceeded to look up the book, and guess what? Sold out! Okay, let's face it. With many libraries having furlough Fridays, bookstores/cafes have become library substiutes. And when the library is not open, I'm in search of free internet access outside my home. I headed to Barnes & Noble in Fairfield and was excited to learn that the wireless internet was FREE which, from my experience, is not very common to Starbucks. That's the coffee shop they have in the bookstore. I quickly bought a bagel with cream cheese and drink. (This is to let you know that I was still a paying customer.) I was ready to get some work done, but my laptop needed some charging. So I looked under all the tables at the cafe, besides the comfy chairs at the bookstore, and looked at every single wall or divider around that Starbucks. Not one outlet. Since I drove pretty far to do work, I ended up finding one outlet on the wall at the back of the store, I plugged in, plopped down on the floor and got to work, blocking an aisle in the process. I think I was annoying staff, the manager asked me to leave. (Apparently, I am a fire hazard.) Why do cafes/bookstores have wireless internet and not have outlets? read more

We've been in covid since March, it's August. But somehow they still haven't managed to update their store hours on the maps app for iPhone. I come at 7:24 and the sign says they close at 7. The app online says they close at 9. I wouldn't have come all the way from Vallejo if I knew this. Hope people don't make my same mistake read more

I like the relaxing atmosphere here. Many books, magazines, comics, and great selection of CDs and DVDs. They seem to play music overhead that's off the beaten path or not heard a lot on the radio mainstream....the music sounds good...then I wind up buying the CD. Thanks B&N! :) read more

Poor starbucks employees! Man oh man, I would have quit if I worked there with the minimal manning they have. Everytime I am there, they are running around trying to fill orders deperately while the few other employees are trying to check people out at the cash rigister or they are busy at the info desk trying to find books for people. Great store, but not enough employees to run the show effectively. They are scarce and super busy. This store could easily get 4 stars if there were more employees around to help customers out. Great facility overall and awesome selection, but good luck getting the help you need. read more
