I love Barnes and Noble, I give it 4 stars because the lack of seating actually available, and when we do decide to sit in a secluded section where no one has walked by for at least an hour they always tell us we can sit there. The cafe is nice and has teh sitting area however if you dont buy anything someone will come by every 5 minutes (regardless if yoru waiting for people) to bother you and tell you that you need to order something from the cafe. While the occasional hey just so you know.. isnt too annoying getting a big speach about it every 5 minutes gets to people. Other then that the book selection is great even though they just rearranged it and sometimes it looks like they are still working on that (its been like 3 months now). Customer Service is usually pretty great and its nice that they have such a wide variety in books, magazines, and music. Side note try the asiago cheese pretzel its really good! read more

I love just about everything about books. Hardback or paperback, it doesn't matter. Books are just awesome. Seriously, me in a book store is like Barney Gumble at Moe's Tavern, with fewer burps though. That being said, a bookstore would have to be pretty bad to get less than four stars from me. This gets the elusive five-star rating because of their movie section. One day, after visiting Best Buy hoping to find a documentary and being told "this is our documentary section" as I stood in front of a mass of John Cena DVDs, I luckily remembered that there were movies in the back of Barnes & Noble. Getting to the back was a little difficult due to my book addiction problem, but once I got back there, I realized that I could end up with a movie addiction problem. I found the documentary I wanted without a single WWE superstar in sight. Then I found about five more that I didn't know I wanted, but want now. I'm sure there are better bookstores and better movie stores, but I have yet to find one in the A.V., so kudos Barnes & Noble. read more

The staff here are friendly and tidy. The store does its absolute best to make sure the customer's needs are met. They show that they are chartiable, as well, by offering customers a chance to donate. I am still here enjoying myself reading a book and I am well pleased with this store. Store is great with a wide selection of books! I am only rating it a one star because of its cafe staff and their very unprofessional manners. I have and continue to visit stores in Valencia and Encino but will rethink Palmdale. The staff seems too bored and the department is so over staffed that they have time to walk around every few minutes to push you to (even if you already did) buy more or leave. This is the only store thay has eliminated all electrical outlets while others are inviting and welcoming to customers. All Starbucks, McDonalds and even Buffalo Wild Wings provide electrical outlets and wifi. This is a must when out world is moving more towards a digital only era. I have filed a formal complaint and will ensure matters are taken care of. Tips for management: Train and eliminate unprofessional employees. Uphold a stricter dress code and dont let employees wear pink hair to work... This is a book store not a tattoo parlor. Do not overstaff so much that café staff has so much free time to walk around and harass customers. I for example might be in the middle of an important meeting and cannot get off within 5 minutes to buy coffee. Employ more friendly staff members like Rochelle and others that are courteous and professional. read more

One of my favorite places to hang out and look for new books and magazines to buy. They have a large selection of magazines covering just about every subject you could be interested in. There is is a noticeable absence in available seating. There used to be several comfortable chairs set up towards the rear. I can only imagine that it was causing too many people to hang out and not actually buy anything. There is seating in the Coffee Shop but good luck. You have to contend with people bogarting multiple tables. Many of which think this is an extension for their office or school desk. On a busy night, books and coffee cups sit on tables. You can't tell if the tables are taken or not. Most of the benches near the magazines are strewn with stray periodicals from the newsracks, which some people are too lazy to put back. The outside tables are controlled by a small mob of teens/young adults that inhale copious amounts of coffee and tobacco products. The coffee shop serves Starbucks coffee and pastries, but don't expect to use your Starbucks gift card here. They don't accept them. If you come here during the week, it often resembles a public library. There is a continuation high school within short walking distance of this shopping center. The kids are on odd class schedules, so you often find them hanging out in the bookstore. Though none look interested in actual literature itself and are usually causing a commotion of some sort. When you see the group of kids in black pants and white shirts, you'll see it for yourself. The staff is really courteous and their hours are pretty convenient, staying open until 11pm. read more

When my Nook reader died unexpectedly I visited this store for a replacement. I am a longtime customer and am always satisfied with the staff and products. They are always pleasant and very helpful. I recommend visiting this brick and mortar establishment. Not everything is better being done on line. I highly recommend this store. read more

Our Palmdale location Barnes and Noble is great! The store is always clean and the employees are very helpful. Sometimes I have to wait a little bit for the Customer Service person but they are ALWAYS able to help me. :) Today, my daughter and I were there to wrap gifts for her Girl Scout troop. Barnes and Noble sets up a great station inside (other stores set you up outside in the cold). My daughter and I had such a good time wrapping gifts, visiting with shoppers, and earning some money for her troop. I loved watching my daughter learn skills to interact with people, skills that are going to help her be employed some day. Then, when our shift was over we were replaced by a set of older women doing the same but for their cause. Thus, showing my daughter that it never ends, this opportunity to work towards something else, to help others. Thank you Barnes and Noble for making this opportunity possible. My only negative is that the Starbucks doesn't accept Starbucks' gift cards. read more

I completely love this Barnes and Noble, I am a member and love saving that extra 10% and if you sign up for emails they always send 15% off one item which you can use with your 10% membership off discount. The people are always helpful and friendly. Only down side, when checking out it is always so SLOW. ALSO, the people in Starbucks can be RUDE, if you're not studying they'll ask you to move. This isn't right, especially if you bought an over priced drink from them. read more

This review is ONLY regarding "curbside pickup". I have actually never had a bad experience inside the store and honestly this has more to do with the rudest woman ever who should not even be employed!! I wish I knew her name. So I ordered a book online my daughter needed for school. It offered curbside pickup which was most convenient for me on a busy day. I do curbside pickup all the time at Target and Best Buy and it's great! I got the email letting me know my order was ready so I looked at what it said to do when you arrive which is call the store and let them know and they will bring it out. So I did that and a woman rudely said " um we are OPEN". I said but I chose curbside pickup. She again rudely said what's your last name. She said pull up in front again with a TERRIBLE attitude. I pulled right in front. I tried to show her barcode to scan but she just handed me book and wAlked away. Not one word. My daughter said "OMG how rude!" . My question is WHY IS this woman working there?? That is terrible. This is still COVID 19 days and I'm sure plenty of people cannot safely home inside stores yet so why should they be treated like garbage for using this option!! read more

I have read these reviews stating Barnes and Nobles mistreats the disabled. THAT is so far from the truth. As my husband can verify,many times I have SAT on the floor--looking through music,books or toys for our grandchildren. the ONLY comments have been "can I help you find something?" We have spent HOURS there as I look for THE perfect books,movie and CDs. And while YES it may be a bit more money. than buying from Amazon. A brick and mortar store costs far more to maintain as does the cost of staffing and every additional cost of keeping people employed. THAT cost I do NOT mind paying for. A clean well laid out store. Kind knowledgeable staff is just what we need. Not ONE complaint about this store. I do not expect to go in and read for free it is NOT a library after all. I think they have a fabulous selection, easy to find, and when you need to find a book you can't find, just ask the little round desk in the middle, and they will definitely help you! Just to get into the store I have to make it through the parking lot of a church asking for donations, a teen selling candy bars, and a homeless man (or almost homeless) asking for gas money for their car. There is an older reference man who need training in customer service. Also, the line to purchase items is so long and the cashiers tend to be very slow! ... here it goes. The manager there today was cold, awful, spiteful, and so demeaning. I walked in looking for a job. And not that this had anything to do, although I made a note, there where now male staff, solely woman. From the get go, she stared me down with her big blue eyes almost hunching over me to hurry up when I haven't even gotten a coherent though out! I'm a 27 y/o radiologist and I didn't even bring it up, but apparently a navy Japan sweater strikes people as poor, incompetent and who know what else,... all I know is that I love books and reading BOOks but this lady and her staff were AWFUL people who apparently misandry in a general sense for everyday conversation. Don't know why... Also her little puppet ignorantly scoffed over her shoulder as left to go to a library! I don't even know why or what she meant by that, but they were all apparently afraid of something and it's apparently anything and everything they want. Instead of making the world a better place they poison it. I wish them well. Except the manager, someone need to implement people skills into her, she is cold! read more

This is like my adult Disney land lol I decided I can't go here any more though. I always walk out with way more than I planned to. For the most part the staff is always bubbly and nice, the ones who are not bubbly are still very kind and try to be as helpful as possible. There a gentleman there, his name is John, I think he may even be the manager, he is wonderful. I'm sure he doesn't remember me buy ever time I have been there he has helped me immensely. On Wednesday night he went above and beyond to find one of only 4 copies of the book they had in the store. He finally found one is a pile of mixed up books due to be put back on the shelves in the back room. He searched for a good 20 minutes. He didn't have to do that. It's hard to find people that will go above and beyond to help a custoer. read more

After dinner and picking up a few items at Best buy, my bf and I stopped by Barnes & Noble for frozen coffee goodness, and to browse the store. The girl in the cafe was friendly and taking her cue from our conversation, labeled our cups "The Lady" & "The Man". I was highly amused by this. :) The store was clean and well organized as usual, and after browsing for a while, we found our way to the bargain books area and I saw a sale for buy 2 get 1 free. I was able to easily pick three titles, one of which I have been wanting to read for some time. I generally only shop the bargain books section because as I stated in another review, I generally buy most of my books and other media used and at a high discount, but the bargain section you can usually find pretty good reads for about $5 each if you look hard enough. Its just a matter of finding it. When I checked out, there was a few minutes wait, but the cashier was friendly and capable, getting my transaction done quickly to move on to the next customer. All in all, I had a good time visiting the book store. I look forward to my next visit. read more

I LOVED reading as a child so I have been going to this Barnes and Nobles for at least 12 years and know a lot about this location. In all its years its never really had good customer service (aside from the employees working in the Starbucks Cafe section of the store which I've heard is now closed *Sad face*) as none of the B&N employees are friendly or helpful; they all are either standing around or busying themselves putting books back. If you ask them a question, they act like you're bothering them and almost always are never able to find the product you're asking them about or won't even bother attempting to. All that aside, it gets 5 stars from me for being like a fancy public library. It is a GREAT place to go on a date or just have a coffee and read a good book. My favorite section to get lost in is their Comic Book section (Marked as the Graphic Novel section). They have a great selection to choose from but don't buy any books here; I learned the hard way over the years that they're overpriced and you can get them used on Amazon or Ebay for better prices. The food/drinks from the apparently now-closed Starbucks Cafe and the little novelty items they sell, I would say, were the only things worth the buy. read more

IF YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO PETS, OR JUST DON'T LIKE DOGS, be advised that this store is now allowing pets inside, despite the fact that there is an LA County health code stating that ONLY service animals can be brought into a store that serves food / drinks. Today it happened again. A young punk kid brought in this large black Lab inside, to meet a 2nd person, and he had it near the cafe. This is now the fourth complaint I've filed with the health dept (hey - you know store management won't do anything to these pet owners because they're afraid of being sued) in the last 6 months. Guess they don't understand that many people are allergic to animal fur AND have asthma and it can be a real problem if an animal nearby is shedding. I spoke to TWO employees about the store's pet policy and one told me one thing, while the 2nd told me something else. PEOPLE - LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME WHERE THEY BELONG. They don't belong in stores, and they sure as hell don't belong in the front seat with you while you're driving (THAT problem is getting to be as bad as people driving while on the phone!). read more

I went in hoping to buy Christmas gifts for family and the one machine wasn't reading my card and instead of trying a different machine they just decided to let me stand there for 10 mins waiting for i don't know if it was the manager or just another more experienced cashier to just come up to me and decide to just not sell to me and tell me to leave I left calmly but troubled as to how little they tried it sucks because I had to spend Time to go somewhere else and look for something else for everyone also there was hardly anyone in line so it's not like they were in a rush I should have got the manager or more experienced cashiers name but I was to annoyed and didn't want to blow up so just walked out and respected their decision read more
