A bargain buy with multiple questions about my parents, childhood, fatherhood, and growing older.

I love it here, definitely my favorite Barnes and Nobles in town. I miss the days of bookstores and find all this internet buying really sad. I like to see what I'm buying, grab a coffee and read or browse. Sometimes I dont know what I want I just want to browse. The employees here are always very helpful and have some great recommendations. The store is clean and obviously well taken care off. Working here may be a minimum wage job but you can tell the employees take pride in where they work and take a sense of ownership. Even the bathroom for the men is cleaned up and not all run down. For a mens restroom that says something. If you are a pop collector like myself Barnes and Nobles offers a wide selections of pops as well as other collectibles. This is usually one of my first stops when I enter the store, or even if I just plan to go shopping for pops I stop here first. They have a pretty great collection of exclusives as well. If you are an avid reader I would suggest signing up for the membership. I have fought it off for awhile but through one purchase last week I already saved $10. That means $25 membership has already saved me almost half the cost. And it is a one time fee for the year.

Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite books stores and my usual go to, when I am looking for something specific. This time around I was looking for some cook books, one to demonstrate how to properly break down meat, making sushi, and to see if they had any cook books by Giada de Laurentiis. To my elation, this particular Barnes and Noble had wall to wall cook books (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-book-sellers-santee?select=RVUmeigAhj_jEDawjKKHZg#RVUmeigAhj_jEDawjKKHZg). The first thing I noticed they had plenty of Giada's cook books, but I already own them so I passed (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-book-sellers-santee?select=RVUmeigAhj_jEDawjKKHZg#1p51u1t9xkVQSxZXRvipIg). I was unable to located any how to prepare sushi books, but I did find a great meat book, on not only how to prepare a great piece of meat, but also on how to break it down and properly store for $22 (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-book-sellers-santee?select=RVUmeigAhj_jEDawjKKHZg#vTcYJNmNgc8uIXM540q1qA). In addition, the book came with 425 recipes and great illustrations. The ladies at the register were quite nice and had a good sense of humor. The store was very well organized with having many titles, and having the Barnes and Noble Cafe in the book store, is a big plus!

    All of these are 'minez'.

Barnes and Noble is a fun place to browse current trends in reading. Too bad they are closing earlier.

It shares a home with the Consignment Shack, which is fun to pop into and browse once you've finished shopping around for music. The inside of ECV is somewhat unconventional, yet welcoming. Once you walk through the door, there are couches and chairs set up for relaxing. You will also find various pieces of living room furniture for sale. It feels like going over to a friend's house, especially when you are greeted by the store's owner and main employee, Kelly. Her customer service is top-notch, and she will talk to you like she's known you for years. One of the coolest things about this shop is its vintage record shelves. They used to belong to an old Tower Records store, but are now used for Kelly's ever-changing inventory of classic, used vinyl. She also has a distributor for new vinyl, just in case you're in the market for a high-quality repressing. With the rise of corporate vinyl taking over the music section of big box retailers, it's nice to see small business record stores in your own backyard. Drop in and pay a visit to East County Vinyl. Their prices are more than fair, and they have a guaranteed return policy. Be sure to follow them on Instagram for daily videos of new arrivals and restocks.

They look pretty cool but, the PRICE mo really HIGH... SHEET MUSIC: There was a very SMALL selection of sheet music for piano. I was almost tempted to buy it but, the pricing was still on the HIGH SIDE meaning it's PRICED too closely to a NEW VERSION of the same book. I would definitely consider doing a price check before buying the USED VERSION... Old school, but old and new music is available and if you are looking for something, they may hold it or order it for you. For those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's, we saw vinyl die and come alive again. It is still my preference for music at home and it is an extra plus if the lp also had the downloadable device option. Every year I attempt to head out to Record Store Day (RSD). My goal is to pick up unique items that have never been released, but more than anything, those 80's and 90's albums that were only made on CD. After a three hour wait in line this year, with only 380 different releases and only 3000 stores in the country with offerings, I came home with everything on my list, but one item out of stock. A total win. Five stars for variety and good set up outside to make shopping effiient. My only suggestion is to get a couple food trucks and dj or live music in the parking lot, playing something chill. #SpinRecords #Carlsbad #RSD #FortheWin

The selection will be varied as with any used bookstore, but they have quite a lot on offer for the small space they occupy and I ended up leaving with four books, myself. Plus it is a lot more guilt free ending up disliking a book you got for a buck fifty than a book you paid upwards of $16 for. It can also be a great source for those who want an inexpensive book that they won't mind using for an art project like book page origami or blackout poetry, since they have tons of mass produced paperbacks. The location they're in is also ideal since right next door there are amazing cupcakes, plus a coffee shop within the same mall.
