This is by far my absolute favorite GameStop in the county! The service here is always phenomenal. The manager is always kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. The staff is both equal parts, professional, and also personable. They really go above and beyond to help customers out. And if they don't have the answer, they do their absolute best to help you regardless. The store is incredibly well put together, demonstrating a master class in organization, accessibility, approachability, and remains eye-pleasing to customers; it's a clean, organized, and attractive store. The location itself is also very convenient, with good parking near an area with a lot of other excellent businesses that are easy to navigate. The selection is usually good, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they are quick to make ample recommendations and work with you. The value may be set by corporate, which could be a hit or miss, but that is definitely not at the fault of the location. Overall, I cannot recommend this GameStop location enough. Even if you need to go out of your way a couple minutes or miles, if you're going to choose a GameStop location, then you'd be hard/pressed to not pick this one. read more

Hands down my favorite store in San Diego. I've never had a bad experience regardless of who is working there. It's always well stocked and you're immediately greeted once you enter. I always rate a store based on the interactions with others. When it comes to trading, card sales or just plain video game discussion , everyone seems to be well versed or at least excited to be working there. The thing that sets Gamestops apart is definitely the people. Eric provided great service and understanding of the situation and exceeded my expectations. He helped troubleshoot an online order and was able to resolve it. I'm super grateful of his politeness and understanding. Even if the order had not worked out in the end, I would have been okay, knowing that he tried his best in a respectful manner. I have been to other GameStops where the manager treated me terribly and left me with a sour experience. People like Eric give me hope that not all GameStop employees are awful. He is quite the opposite and seems to care about your experience. If I were more local to this location, I would definitely drop by more often to support the store. read more

This goes for all gamestops they allow people to line up early for releasing which is great I've been doing it for video games since I was a kid but what is ridiculous is 5 people putting out 20 chairs after they close the doors and they save spots for the remaining 15 people who are not even waiting in line and as soon as anyone walks by they all just tell them all of the Pokemon stuff will be gone and it's pointless to wait after them. This takes all the enjoyment of getting things on the first day if you don't have someone saving your spot at 10pm the night before you are guaranteed to get nothing on release dates please find a better way to go about this at least Apple limited people to 1 iPhone when it came out collectors need 1 box scalpers buy the max. read more

I had a great experience in this store yesterday. It's been SOO long since I've been inside a GameStop and things were definitely different than I remember. It's mostly toys and video game memorabilia now. For new games, they only have an empty box to represent the inventory...when you purchase the game, they put it inside the box for you. This means no more actually sealed new games, although the gentleman who helped me assured me the games are new and never been played. He also put a seal on the game after he put the disc in. The gentleman working, Victor was very knowledgeable and attentive. He provided tons of information about the stores offerings but totally not in a upselling pressure type of way. He genuinely had good information and shared it. You could tell he took pride in his job which was refreshing. They have insurance you can purchase for super cheap $I paid $4 for one year) for one or two years....if the game stops working or gets scratched, we can replace it with a pre owned copy. I thought that was a definitely worth it. The store is located in a large shopping center with tons of parking and surrounded by all kinds of food/shopping options. read more

I'm about to Karen up this joint. Bought 3 games in a buy 2 get 1 promotion. Wanted to return/exchange one of the games but it happened to be the free one so they couldn't exchange it because on the receipt its value was 0 dollars. So I have to go home and get all the games in that deal and return them all and rebuy them all but guess what, the Gandalf looking beared wonder over at this Santee store says the the buy 2 get 1 deal expired yesterday. So, I say come on dude, really? And his answer is this is what the computer tells me to do. Bro, then don't work here. You're the reason a robot will take your job. Put the human element in it and try and help a customer. Even if you absolutely can't, then give me a better reason than "the computer won't let me." I can understand if you just show me a little bit of customer service. I'll take my games and be like good on ya bud, you tried and leave. At least pretend you care dude. I may have had some choice words for him but which I regret. But still, I swear every time I cancel my GameStop pro rewards and swear I'm never coming back to this crappy service, I still end up coming back and giving this crappy company and crappy employees my money. Bought a brand new PS5 here and it died on me on the 29th day of owning it which was a Tuesday. I couldn't make it to the store until Saturday which was the 33rd day. They wouldn't honor the warranty and they gave me the run around for weeks that they would actually do something about it and never followed up. I always come to this GameStop. Eric the manager is always super helpful and lenient. I had a warranty issue with my headset and was super worried that it wasn't within a year. Come to find out it was expired! I couldn't make it down to the store in time because I was selling and buying a new car. Eric was super under and helped me get a BETTER headset by only paying the difference! I am so excited to use my new headset on my Xbox! I need a new controller and will come back and buy one when they get more in stock! I cannot thank Eric enough for helping me out. This a very busy Game Stop. I was surprise how many people were at this store mid morning. I came in to get a copy of Skyrim, but I was bummed out when I realized I forgot to bring in three games I had to trade in. Oh well, I will save them for next time. As I waited in line, to make my purchase, I noticed that the employees were treating the customers very well. I have been to several other Game Stops in town, and I have not ever seen this level of politeness, respect, and knowledge these employees demonstrated. Went to pick up Last minute gift for my husband's birthday and honestly I'd usually go to Target or Walmart for gaming things, but this store was just a step away from the cake shop so walked in. Prices are not that much higher than Target or a Best Buy and the customer service is AMAZING. Was greeted within seconds and got REAL help. Bought a new headset for my husband's Xbox one and I know more about it than I needed to know. But the best part is my husbands face when he opened it. Loved it. The guy at Game Stop told me he would and he was absolutely right! Usually Jeff (my husband) ends up returning what I bought (lol) but not this time. I'll be shopping Game Stop in the future. Bleh... while I am not a fan of video games... and my kid, whom is a major outdoorsy kid experienced a recent mishap...that lead him to not be able to be active for a few weeks, based on a broken bone and a cast.... lead me to "oh crap" let's get him some cool video games to play while he is recuperating.... This Game Stop...guided my novice video game ass in the right direction to a lightly used X-Box 360 and some cool racing games... It used to be a Funco Land, back in the day. Staff is nice. Store has a great selection. Lots of accessories. PC section is pretty big to for this kind of store. O and now most of the reserves you places come with extra stuff. Like bonus game content, etc. and when you buy a game you get like 15% or so off the guides. The Membership card gives you a a bonus to your trade ins an d a years of game informer magazine. read more

This is the closest Gamestop to me, and also my favorite. All the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and actually play the games they sell, so I can trust them for an honest opinion of whether a game is good or not. Of course, their hands are tied with certain corporate BS in regards to some things, but even still they manage not to be too annoying with the constant "You want a magazine subscription with that?" (I love Game Informer anyway, and $15 a year for a monthly magazine with lots of reviews and upcoming game information is a great deal, I don't understand why so many people are against it. o.-) Fair warning: if you're going to trade in a game, make sure it doesn't have wrapping on it. I won some games I had no interest in playing in a contest, so I took them in to trade in, still wrapped because I thought I might get a better price that way. I used to go in there, but the employees attitude is a buzzkill, its like theyd rather not be there. I called asking for one thing. The people working here are very nice. I don't play video games and usually only venture into Game Stop with my husband. However I recently went there to pick up a few games for his birthday. The sales associates were very friendly and immediately helped me find the games my husband requested. The suggested accessories were very quick and efficient. At a different time I actually went to Game Stop to see if they had any extra boxes I could use for moving. The guy was really nice and gave me like 5 big Rock Band boxes. read more

I've been to this location twice now and have had great experiences both times. The first time I went was on the day that Portal 2 released (along with two other games) and the start of local spring break. The line was incredibly long, and there were only two employees in the place. Each customer was helped quickly and in a friendly manner. It didnt take long for me to get to the front of the line. The guy behind the counter (pretty sure he is the manager) was friendly and even grabbed me a new copy of the game I picked, cause the box was kinda dented. The next time I went in was to exchange a faulty disc. The manager was able to help me make the exchange with absolutely no hassles. As a retail manager myself, I really appreciate a store that treats exchanges and returns with the same friendliness and respect they do a sale. Also, it definitely doesnt hurt that I dont have to wade through the crap at the mall to get to this location. By far, the best experience I have ever had at a gamestop. read more

I had a very bad experiance today, I went there with my 8 year old grandson, and this guy/worker was letting the UPS guy out of the building he was very rude, I was shocked, the flyers said they opened at 12 noon we were there at 12:20pm with our masks on of course we went to go approach the door, However he said very rude, I think not, I said oh your not open he said NO and closed the door he didnt explain anything to us whatsoever, I was shocked, The UPS man told me they were closed for a couple of days due to whats been going (the riots in la mesa) This is the santee location in the middle of the day and the so called customer service personell did not even take time to explain anything to us. Thank you to the UPS man who took the time to explain the situation, SHAME ON GAMESTOP for being so rude, I will not be going back to that location very rude. Picked up my copy yesterday, however when I got home I realized I didn't have my code on my receipt for my preorder bonus 5 packs. Tried calling them all day and no one has picked up. Called a different GameStop and they assured me there was nothing they could do, even if I brought in my receipt to the original store. I love this Gamestop in particular. They always have everything I have ever needed or wanted, and if they didn't have it on hand they would have it shipped to them in a matter of days. I recently went there to get a new Wii controller (my old one was thrown into a fan and died.... I won't go into details, it's a long story I end turn out looking like an idiot in the end) and finally caught up with the times and bought the rechargeable battery packs and chargers for the controllers. I didn't even know they had those, and still wouldn't had I not complained about the number of batteries we were burning through in a month. The guy working laughed and pointed me to them and yes they were a little pricey, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons in this situation! They are not knowledgeable on basic information regarding games and other devices and when asked simple questions they become aggressive and have an attitude. I was sent to three other stores around my location for Battlefield 1, and none of them had it. I go here often, mostly for the selection and not so much the service. For the most part the service is average and the atmosphere a little relaxed than other gamestops. They are prompt on their work and work to help you find the game you want. Like i mentioned earlier, I really go in there for there selection of used/traded in games.
