I stopped into Bath & Body Works with my sons to browse some of the new scents--and of course, drop a few Mother's Day hints . From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Ely, who was genuinely kind and welcoming. I've been to locations where they hand you a bag before even saying hello, but that wasn't the case here. Ely took her time asking what I was looking for, and when I explained, she not only introduced me to the newest scents but also included my sons by showing them some of the men's options. I really appreciated how she explained the current promotions in a way that made it easy for all of us to benefit. I also had a reward to use and picked up a Brazil travel-size spray mist--such a good choice! While they didn't have the Peach Blossom in a gift set just yet (I'm still holding out until closer to May 10 ), the visit still gave me great ideas not just for myself, but for my mom too. I love that that Bath & Body Works stores have fragrances, lotions, car fresheners, skin oils, candles, linen fresheners etc. Another standout was Susie, the store manager, who was just as sweet and helpful. Neither Ely nor Susie made me feel pressured to buy anything that day. In fact, they even took the time to show me how to navigate the app so I could have my mom's gift shipped to a location near her--now that's customer service! SUSIE is the worst "manager" ive had experience with. I received a 3 wick candle as an Xmas gift & wanted to simply exchange it for a different scent. She said I'd have to pay the difference of $15.60 because of the "policy". If it's not burned, brand new & is the SAME EXACT PRICE why are you charging a difference? Very strange customer service interaction, her cashier and her both had an unpleasant attitude towards me, all I asked was for a simple exchange...I didn't know Susie had such an issue with helping her customers leave with a good experience. I stopped in this Bath & Body Works to pick up some hand lotions for a gift for a friend. I noticed that her hands were dry, which I was not surprise given she is a food handler and constantly washing her hands. Since they were having a buy three and get one free sale, I decided to go that rout, and the young lady assisting me offered to wrap them up nicely and make me a nice gift bag. I recently stopped by bath & body works to pickbup a lot of gift cards. They had the isles all roped off with no sign were to go to check out. So I was waiting and an employee tells me that the line is over on the other side. I was first in my line and she wanted me to get in the other line. Why can't they have signed or something. What a great store! I just moved to the area and popped in last night for some body-wash. While I was there, an employee notified me of the $10 candle sale today. Of course, I had to come back over today! The line was, predictably, very long. However, the employees were very friendly and helpful while we waited in the heat. They offered us water bottles, encouraged us to download the app to accrue points and allowed us to smell their 10 most popular candles. Very clean store and friendly employees. Not only because it's closest to me but it's a smaller location so I feel like it's homier and the interactions with the staff is more intimate. Every time I go in store I always talk with the employees who are so friendly and helpful each time. I recently went in for the Semi Annual Sale and scored so many great deals. There are limited seasonal new smells that I didn't even see in LV that they have here in Cali. The one I liked in particular was A thousand Christmas wishes which smelled of the holiday season but has a very nice pleasant smell which kind of reminds me of 1000 wishes. My wife and I have been long time customers and usually go to this location for pick-up orders and we like to stop by when we are in the area. After our last visit, we will gladly avoid this location. My wife received a coupon via email for a free gift in the morning and she went to pick up an order and redeem the coupon yesterday (04/03) around 6:30. The young lady working the register ignored us even though she was the only person behind the registers and rudely told us she was working on something. Not a big deal. Bad day I guess. Later, she decided to actually do her job and ring us up, and to tell my wife that she has already redeemed her coupon. The coupon she received that same morning? She said if we had an issue we could go to corporate. She made loyal customers feel like thieves. An absolutely unpleasant person. My wife Becky just loves Bath & Body Works. Specifically she loves the 3-wick candles they sell. These are expensive candles, like 25+ bucks each expensive. Periodically they will have a big sale though. Here's the problem...well, my problem. Last week they had such a sale, half off or something and BBW is just across the parking lot from our regular haunt Oggi's. (Location. Location. Location. Right?) So we go to Oggi's and have a couple of beers. Bex is now feelin' happy and ready to shop! A 1/2 hour and 50 bucks later we leave with a shopping bag full of candles. Yay! They are clever at BBW. The checkout counter is at the back of the store. You must walk through the entire store, enticed by their wares, to get to the registers. I love coming when they mark down the candles to make room for the new ones. There is always ample staff and they are efficient at the cash register. The biggest downside is that the store is very small so it is hard to get through. I have made the mistake of coming with the baby in the stroller and never again will I do that because we could hardly get through the store especially without him touching anything. read more

I love B&Bw however this store is small they don't offer the variety that some of the larger stores offer. I also found that the customer service in this store is subpar. Usually the ladies at the other stores are very helpful and friendly almost as thought they get commission for the sale (maybe they do!) however at this location there were workers all around and they were talking more to each other than greeting or helping the customers. I love the wallflowers and I came to restock. They didn't have a candle for each scent so it was impossible to experience all of the fragrances prior to purchase which annoyed me. At the end the manager offered to help me and was very friendly but not enough to make up for the entire mediocre experience. Good thing is I didn't spend as much money as I planned too because they didn't have a lot and/or I couldn't smell stuff so I didn't buy it! I got home, still thinking about my shopping experience. It was not good. I have not taken anything out of the bags. After reflecting on the whole shopping experience I have decided to return it all and go to the Clairemont store. I will not be back. Claremont B&B has excellent customer service, and rarely are out of anything I love holidays of every kind and always find the best holiday stuff there! Products are well stocked. Definitely suggest not doing store pick up. My experience was NOT at all to be desired. Not only did one associates give us the wrong information, the manager said they couldn't help us when were given the information to come in and get our order. We then went in to a "quick and safe pick up" for the second time, and were told they didn't know how long it would be and to take a see. Not worth it at all in my opinion. I'm not sure if this store has a loss prevention problem or if its a "color of your skin" problem. I believe it's both. My husband and I entered the store and began to smell things like everyone does. A worker saw us and turned to help a woman who came in after us. After that woman said she didn't need help, the worker came over and asked "what did you smell?". What did I smell?? This is B&BW, I smelt many things. She didn't offer any type of assistance even after I explained to her I was looking for a transition scent from Summer to Fall. But ok. Now, here's where it gets good... The supervisor, who I believe is CONNIE didn't realize we were behind her as she attempted to speak quietly into her earpiece "it's fine, they're leaving now" She's referring to 5 African-American ladies that were leaving the store. Another lady came by to ask us if we needed a basket and looked at my purse before she looked in my eyes. Jim came by and had us smell this and that and actually brought down product from the top shelf. I'm not sure why, my husband is 6'4 and I'm 5'9, we could reach anything we want. Now the count is up to 3 people who want to "help" us. My husband and I were aware that they never wanted to leave us alone. Came in while they were having a sale, and when I found out that my favorite fragrance wasn't included in their promotions, one of their employees suggested some alternatives that were more wallet-friendly. It's nice that she took the time to let me know they had other fragrances similar to the one I wanted. I am here to please ask the staff to stop being so pushy the minute you walk through the door. The products sell themselves.....there is no need to get in people's faces every time you step in the store. I know they have a quota each day, but it's really a turn-off when management thinks that this kind of selling makes people want to come back. If you remember the products sell themselves you can stop forcing your employees to ask what we're looking for, the stores aren't that big, we know what we're looking for, we have the app or see the sign outside with the current specials. The three stars are not for the products, they are always great, the three stars are for forceful sell tactics. You should all know better and treat your staff kinder and not with the threat of demotion when you don't smile enough or antagonize your patrons by following them around the store like we don't know what we're doing. I watch the staff at all the stores and it's really sad how small you make them feel if management doesn't like what a staff person is doing. Thought I would give this B&B works store a shout out. This is my favorite Bath and Body Works shop simply because the ladies working there are always fantastic! Great customer service! They are super friendly and always knowledgeable. Its a small outlet shop, but they carry all the essentials in the lines. Its never too busy or crowed. This is the only Bath and Body Works where I felt racially profiled. I was the only customer of color in the store. I mean it's located in Santee (I'm not going to mention the nickname for this area, but IYKYK...) after all. Instead of a warm greeting, I was met with silence and wandering eyes. When I was making my way to a specific scented candle, one of the associates literally stopped me and said "Where do you think you're going?" Instead of actually trying to help me out, or even make retail small talk, she immediately went to a really accusatory place. I know how prevention through customer service works and that was the complete opposite. They really need to retrain their team at this location on racial discrimination, considering their parent company Victoria's Secret literally had company wide racial discrimination training for similar actions at one of their stores. I will not be returning to this location. The Mira Mesa and Clairemont Town Square locations are much more friendly and actually want to sell to their customers. read more
