I'm so glad there are still Barnes & Noble bookstores. This one is two-story, the down-escalator was broken while I was there and you have to find the elevator to get back down to the floor level, but I'm sure that will be fixed soon. Big selection of books; don't you just love the feel of a real book in your hand in these days of digital content?? Pretty clean store, save a few (coffee, I'm sure) stains on the carpet near the coffee shop. Smells like new books and coffee. The Starbucks does NOT accept the Starbucks app, btw, in case that applies to you! The staff are friendly enough and were patient with us as we made our selection and negotiated the payment method between members of our party. Prices aren't cheap, but they do honor some price matching. I think it's worth it to keep physical book stores around. Imagine all those sad and lonely freshly printed books hanging out in the dark, tucked away in large boxes in a warehouse waiting to be sold... instead of being propped or stacked on a shelf with many a peruse-r to handle them until "the one" decides to take you home! read more

This location is so beautifully organized. It's a great place to get gift ideas and browse popular books and music. Large location with lots of inventory, a cafe, and clean bathrooms. Their greeting card selection is really cute. The friendly staff is always ready to help me find a book or offer a reading suggestion. If you haven't been in the past few years, B&N started a loyalty program in 2023 to make its prices more competitive. For free, you can earn "stamps" that result in discounts (currently $5 off for every 10 stamps earned), and for a reasonable yearly fee you can upgrade to be a Premium member and earn 10% off everything every day. As an avid reader with a family of readers, it is totally worth it, and (do the math!) usually cheaper than competitors (*always* cheaper when I'm reading more obscure stuff). If you enjoy earning free stamps, it is worth signing up for the B&N newsletter to keep an eye out for double/triple points days. They always have deals on bestsellers and daily BOGO 50% tables, so you have a new selection of deals to hunt through each time you visit. read more

The hours on google were incorrect and after being allowed in 10 minutes before closing... no announcement... no warning... the employees proceeded to kick us out and say you can't even check out. 2 minutes after closing two ladies on the upper floor said nope, leave, you can't check out. Really poor business model. So now instead of getting the business of 4 people we will be ordering elsewhere. I hope the two rude employees see this. The cafe is a nice place to study or hang out, but the workers are a bit rude. I've come twice and today though the tall black employee was very nice though. two of the male employees had shoulder length hair and it wasn't put up, which is a problem and i considered leaving just because it's a health standard to have hair up. the first time i came (last week) the lady gave me less than a tablespoon of lavender cold foam on my matcha, even though i payed extra for it. Overall it's okay, i think they need to work on hygiene and customer service though. read more

So sad to give a 2 star today. Sam, Jess, and Jenn always take such good help of me. Today, I needed to use my cash card . Brooke, i guess the manager had no idea what that was. Ok...instead of beingvso frustrated upfront, she should have just asked questions. Sam was keeping her calm with being really sweet and showing her how easy it was. She just wasnt getting it. This Barnes and Noble is ok. The sales people don't leave you alone even when you say you don't need any assistance, which is annoying. One girl scared me twice coming up behind me "to make sure I was ok". They make you feel like they are watching you for stealing or something. I am not sure if people get commission here, but the customer service is aggressive. Over all the store is fine though. Organized pretty well, many options, a lot of parking. read more

My daughter and I visited this location today. We where just browsing some books, and having fun like all of our daddy daughter dates. It was all good until we where approached by two police officers. We where clearly taken back, and confused by this. After a brief interaction, and finding out they where called because we where "yelling" (which is far from the truth), and they had concerns for my child's safty for some reason they wouldn't or couldn't explain... Barnes and Noble Southlake will always have a little space in my heart. This location has changed a lot through the years and their current layout is a little confusing if you've been going for years and years and years. Also, went to find a book that should've been in religion but it was reallocated to divination, which is in a completely different area. That's not on the staff, that's on corporate or whoever is managing layouts. Everytime I've been in lately the AC is running warmer temps and the escalator has been out, which is just a minor inconvenience but they have an elevator for anyone who needs it. They usually have what I need and plenty of what I don't but finding those items is the main issue of this location, thankfully the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

My date and I agreed that this is probably one of the best Barnes & Noble locations we've ever visited. The selection of vinyl records, CDs, games, magazines, books, children's area, gifts, and overall selection of books and places to sit is wonderful here! The inside doesn't feel too noisy but doesn't feel like a library either. Throughout the store, there are plenty of smiling staff members asking if you might need any assistance as they are (usually) restocking books. These same staff members will kindly leave you be to browse on your own if you simply say, "No thank you" at their offer to help. I love this since if you have a specific book in mind, you can be in and out in a hurry. Or if you want to browse and take your time, that's okay too. There are two levels to this store. Each can be easily accessed by escalators or an elevator. read more

Ahh, the smell of books! I have such fond memories of B&N going all the way back to childhood. We would go to a bookstore and browse the books in a big comfy chair while listening to classical music. When I was older I enjoyed getting a Starbucks drink while checking out the magazines. When I was a 20 something and single I would go to B&N on weekend nights for a coffee and reading or using their Wifi to study for my Masters, while also hoping to pick up a date with someone who was literate...that worked sometimes. Now, I cannot wait to take my little one here for a story time and browsing the kids books. Truthfully I have found many of the baby and toddler books for cheaper at discount stores, but there's still something special about coming to B&N. Keep them in business, buy a book! read more

I am so torn ... so I will put this out here to begin with ... I am a used book store fan. There I said it. Also, I like discounts that I don't have to pay to be a member of a club for. *few* Now that I've gotten that off my chest ... The things you must realize about myself in my 27 year old self ... I shall continue. I do love B & N ... for most of my under 18 life I asked for B & N gift cards ... loved the store, the setting etc. Which I will still happly accept B & N gift cards, I will just probably spend them on my kid. Both of the B & N of my youth/younger adult life moved from their smaller homey locations to closer to shopping centers. I had orignally been exposed to this location in grapevine, then they moved to southlake. At first I was amazed that there was 2 levels of books! Now you have more room and more books for the mix of book store regulars that I love ... the love are the teachers and parents there with kids looking for children's books, those sitting in the halls,corners or comfy chairs wanting to skim a few chapters into a book before deciding that they want to buy it ... or if your like me end up losing track of time & reading the whole thing ... those that got a gift card or are looking for that special book for someone & have to come to B & N for it. Then there are the people that are probably the reason most of the seasoned staff are usually in a frumpy mood. The tweens & Teens that we're dropped off for a movie or parents are shopping & having date in the town center. You know the "Young Adults" I'm taking about ... running up and down the escalators, messing with merchandise cause they are bored, looking for a time kill that they wont be required to pay for & are unchaperoned. The kind of behavior you expect & will just roll your eyes at of a child under lets say 8 & under, but out of middle-high school kids. Usually the staff is really nice to me, the cafe folks are usually chipper as well, big store big selection. The biggest drop is the fact that there usually seems to be a group of teens running around causing more work for the employees. (Seriously, one time they had to yell at them on the speakers for going the wrong way on an escalator!) And my greatest fear is that the teens goofing off is going to force B&N to be a get in get out & don't take time to sit & quietly make a decision ... and force them to kill one of the things I liked about this store. read more

This has been my Barnes & Noble since childhood, and even after moving towns, I still drive 30+ minutes for this location. The two stories are so spacious and there's always such creative tables laid out in different genres that makes it so fun to browse. One thing I miss is the search kiosks where you could look up a book yourself instead of having to go back downstairs and ask customer service. Also, the escalators here are prone to break down. I'm been a huge fan of Barnes and Noble for many, many years. It's a great place to catch up on some reading or get some studying done. This location, however, has its fair share of flaws. My biggest complaint here is with the employees. They are EXTREMELY pretentious and rarely helpful. To top things off, some of them are incredibly rude. On the other hand, the cafe employees are AMAZING. They are very cheerful and always helpful. The rest of the employees can learn a thing or two from the cafe. It's no coincidence that I only get coffee from Barnes and then order the books for less on Amazon. Also, the location. Yes, it's in a great spot in Southlake Town Center, surrounded by restaurants and entertainment. But this is also the reason I can't stand it. The store is absolutely FILLED with young teens screaming and running around the store. The noise level is through the roof. Don't expect to get any work done here if you come on a weekend. There's also hardly any room to sit after their remodeling. In the end, I do love Barnes. I get really tired of all the ignorant, immature, illiterate, spoiled Southlake tweens and brats roaming around here and just "hanging out" because that's the coolest they can get without their own driver's licenses. Need to look up the meaning of the word "loiter." I still like B&N though because I do like to study here, and they are typically pretty ok--I cannot hold the area and the attitudes\kinds of people around here against it. But do take them into consideration when looking for a place to relax and trying to fight 20 prepubescent brats with braces for a single clean chair and table in the cafe area... and no, none of them are EVER reading. Other than that, this really rounds out the Southlake Town Square area for me as a place to relax, hang out, and study or get work done as I flit around the Starbucks, Milwaukee Joe's, Harkins, etc. At least they're always consistent: same decor, pretty clean, A\C for the Texas summers (and "winters"), and a good selection of books--though I agree with some other people: what the hell with all this new, trendy, evangelical, let's-be-Protestant-but-not-versed-in-actual-theology bandwagon crap and the plethora of redundant self-help\empowerment books? Lot of re-invented wheels here.. and now there are huge sections of "Teen Paranormal Romance?!?!" If you think Twilight represents good writing, diction, and authorship, please refrain from leaving the kiddy and pre-teens section and clogging other parts of the store. But, the language section's good, the floor area keeps a constant array of assorted new and interesting selections, and their science-fiction/fantasy keeps me bemoaning the adage, "so many books, so little time!" read more

Frustrating experience...black friday shopping, found a table of books marked half off. We picked up 3 of them and were excited about working through them. At the checkout line, we were informed that they were full price...i told our cashier about the half off table they came from. I have a hard time walking out of a bookstore empty handed. And now that I have a 3-year old that task is even harder. B&N is a great "big box" bookstore with a nice variety of books, collectibles, bargains, and magazines. Walking into this location for the first time, I immediately noticed the large NOOK station dominating the center space. There, you can test drive their various Nook models and make that 21st century investment. Me, I'm a purist and would rather hold a "real" book than look at a screen. (Note: I use my Android tablet for e-reading on occasion and don't hate the experience, just prefer the old fashioned paper books). Honestly, it's really hard to plunk down full price for most of the B&N products when I can open my smartphone and place an order from Amazon for 20% or more less. The exceptions are bargain books (always worth looking at), children's books (because the daughter wants something NOW), or impulse buys. B&N does a nice job of keeping the new, best selling titles on sale- and their periodical selection is pretty extensive. I like to peruse the new Fangoria issue without having to pay the $8 price tag! There's a toy section that has a decent collection of puzzles, games and collectible toys (action figures). The location is very clean, well organized, and the staff is friendly and very helpful. There's never an issue asking for help when I cannot locate something specific. And then when you scope the store you realize that titles are organized pretty well and are easily spotted through section category signage. Wish there was one closer to my home!! read more

I've been to many Barnes and Nobles in my lifetime and I have to say that this is one of the best Barnes and Nobles that I've been to. It was so peaceful, clean and welcoming. I've passed by here many times, but today was the first day that I visited. Now that I know just how nice this location is, I will definitely add it to my places to frequent on a regular. Well, I am trying to think of what I could recommend that this place improves, but not sure I can think of much to offer for improvement, hence the 5 star. Employees are helpful, place is big, TONS of books and magazines and everything that goes with such items. I like the split floor approach, something about height in a building that makes if feel so much more roomy and less closed in. The location is great. Next door to a cheesecake factory and movie theater. I like being able to walk around the Southlake Town Square. Bathrooms are clean. Has a nice coffee and snack bar. Tons of magazines. Places to sit around and read. As a matter of fact, I read the first chapter of one book, realized it wasn't going anywhere I liked. Kept trying out various novels until a Dean Koontz novel pulled me in. They have music, trendy stuff, a large area for kids, well...not sure what more I could ask for from a place like this. I always have a good time reading a book here and grabbing a cup of coffee. They have a very small selection of book for Arabic but I was surprised that they had Arabic books. Also I have a pretty good experience with the service here. Also I love that they have comfortable chairs all around the store. read more

The selection is mostly great (they could fit more worthwhile books if they got rid of the huge Christian literature section) and the employees are about as haughty as one might expect from a book store, except for the café employees who are always very friendly. It gets very loud on weekends with hundreds of kids loitering in the aisles but during the week it is a great place to study, read a book, or take advantage of free wifi while sipping on a beverage. read more

Wide selection of Nook and Nook Color products and accessories...if it isn't at this location, chances are, B&N doesn't carry it. He was able to lead us right to the first one but the store was out of the second so he offered to call another store, found it, and had them put it on hold. This location is one of the better ones in the area. I enjoy the second story to split up the sections. The children's area upstairs has a nice variety and an assortment of 'bargain' (under $10) books. It would be nice for them to have larger restrooms/more stalls or a family bathroom option. We waited about ten minutes to use the handicap stall (brought in stroller) and the person was still in there so we just left. Also if you're bringing in a stroller it's a little difficult to maneuver as they do not have an auto button to open doors. read more

This is a gorgeous two story barnes an noble cafe included! Town square nearby. The smell of new books is heavenly!! They have the best manga selection I have seen thus far. I was looking for a cookbook for my bfs dad and the team member (Dan) literally sat on the floor with me going through cookbooks. Doesn't get better then that! The store is in a really nice location next to the fountain where people often play live music outside when the weather is nice. When you can find a staff member to help you, they are friendly and try to be helpful. The children's section is really great, especially all of the unique games and toys they carry. read more
