The initial visit involves a complete exam of the mouth, and the staff reviews any other medical conditions patient may have before recommending dental procedures. The staff is very friendly, greets patients with a warm hello and smile, and patients are not kept waiting, you are treated at your appointed time. The staff patiently explains procedures they are performing and are really knowledgeable. Tonika, the hygienist, was great in scaling and deep cleaning my gums/teeth. I can't believe Lydia, the office manager, is not a dentist, she can look at your chart and thoroughly explain all the dental problems.

I did have a root canal on one tooth 10 years ago. Besides that, I've never had a filling, pulled tooth, or anything. This man was rabid. Even at 48 now, people still ask are my teeth real because they're so white and straight. Fortunately I had other options. This man wanted to drill in my mouth just to get some money. When he said 6 cavities, I knew he was lying. Especially since every other dentist said I had the best teeth they had ever seen. This man seems to have not changed in 27 years. I came to this page because I had a conversation about black business and how we do our own people, I had a flashback to Dr. James Orrington and my experience there and wondered if he was still practicing. Dr. Orrington put braces on for me when I was in High School ( i didn't have crazy teeth just a few small hiccups that I wanted to perfect which I now regret), having the braces were so uncomfortable and painful for the entire 3 years I had them. The molar bands would bend and cut into my gums. Food would also become trapped between the molar bands and my tooth. When I let him know of the trouble, he'd speak to me as if I've done something wrong instead of focusing on fixing my problem. It got to a point of pain where I just rip the molar band off myself. The base of my two bottom molar teeth were destroyed they both had a hole and discoloring. Leading to him telling me that I'd need root canals and crowns which was madly expensive. Fast forward to today and both of those teeth have broken completely and I've had to have them extracted. I've never had to get root canals or any extractions so it's majorly frustrating and upsetting that something and someone I thought would help me caused such prolonged damage and pain. If you're looking for a dentist/ortho you can trust and rely on you should keep looking, honestly. I wish I could go back in time and change my decision

I reached the point where a tooth that needed a root canal ended up getting past the point or restoring and Dr. Moore and I made plans to extract the tooth. He has extracted a wisdom tooth of mine before under local anesthetic and I had to pain or trouble at all! My concern wasn't losing the tooth, but just having a temporarily off putting smile. On the day of my extraction, Dr. Moore reassessed my tooth and realized with all of his magic that he could in fact save my tooth. It has taken several visits but Dr. Moore has saved the integrity of my smile!!! Always impressed with his work and I highly recommend his practice. The dentist recommended partials and explained everything, The receptionist was advised to go over the different treatment plans, which ranged from $3000 - $6000. My Dad has to select a plan and sign the estimate. He selected the $3000 plan. Of course he does not want to put "that much money into the gound" as he says, however he wants to keep chewing his food without problems, keep talking to neighbors and his frat brothers with out an odor. The receptionist said she would call his insurance to see what is covered. It is now March 16th and we have not heard from anyone. I will not return to this location. I'm taking my Dad elsewhere. Perhaps to my dentist! I'm certain he'll get better treatment. I stopped going to Chatham Dental after my cap fell off twice.
