I was referred to Barnet Dulaney Perkins when I recently had an eye problem, double vision. I called for an appointment and was seen in just a few days. My appointment was at their Surprise clinic. When I arrived everyone was so friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Olivetti who was very caring and knowledgeable of the problem with my eye. This place was very welcoming and all the employees are all caring, cheerful and anxious to help. A very nice group of people, from the checkin receptionist to the checkout receptionist, all did a great job. I'd recommend it to anyone who is in need of good eye care. My girlfriend had one of the worst medical office experiences of her life at this practice. Her appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM. I was not seen by the doctor until 4:00 PM -- a full three-hour wait in the waiting room with no meaningful explanation, apology, or update from staff. When I was finally seen, the appointment lasted about 15 minutes. As if that wasn't bad enough, I then had to wait another 20 minutes just to schedule a follow-up appointment before I could leave. This level of disrespect for a patient's time is completely unacceptable. Everyone's time is valuable, and there is absolutely no excuse for running this far behind without communication or consideration. If this is how they routinely operate, they should seriously reevaluate how they schedule patients. I understand that delays can happen in medical offices, but a three-hour delay without proper communication crosses the line from inconvenience into outright disregard for patients. I would strongly advise anyone considering this office to be prepared to lose half their day sitting in a waiting room. Extremely disappointing experience. First off, for every appointment, I have waited anywhere from 15-60 minutes to be seen. Do they just overbook and couldn't care less about their patient's time?? I have seen Dr. Nakwahl a few times now, and I won't be going back. She is always in a rush and seems annoyed when I have any questions. When she answers, she is condescending. Nothing like coming in for an appointment and the sweet friendly staff coughing, sneezing, wiping their nose with their hands onto their pants. You're trapped in a small room getting an eye exam with it. Then they are pacing back and forth in the small mini waiting room for Dr. Duong, in front of patients. Next thing you know your catching a cold 2 days later and then your kids are getting it. I understand the world must carry on, but have the decency to wear even a light paper mask and keep your hands clean and off your face. I see all the senior aged people come in here and that is just unprofessional, thoughtless and gross. We just sat there in aw as this was happening. When they say the Christmas season is a time for giving, they are talking about your germs. I am usually warm and fuzzy and give positive reviews but I am hoping to make things better for others in the future. read more

Every single one of the people who work here... including the doctors... are horrible and incompetent. The most recent was when I was charged over $1400 for an office visit and a tissue sample biopsy. I had to call numerous times to find out what was going on with a procedure, the wait times are hours long, the right hand doesn't speak to the left hand and for 2 years it has been a nightmare going there. I tried to browse the glasses while waiting and waiting and they basically said I couldn't touch anything OR look at anything unless I was going to buy and have a prescription in my hand. WTH! I arrived for my appointment today, May 5, 2025. I did not mind the long wait however when I saw Dr. Christina Olivetti for an eye issue, she was not very friendly. She was very matter-of-fact and would not answer questions without a short response and when I asked her why she is being so rude she basically said "well I've answered your questions Haven't I" she did not because I did want her to look at my prior visit in 2022 she did not take the time to do that. Her assistant did. on her way out she didn't even look back or thank me, She just said "some people have different personalities.". She does not even know me! I see an optometrist here for potential future cataract surgery and a history of torn retina. They are efficient at moving one from person to person for different test and evaluations before seeing the MD. I feel the quality of care is good and they are making use of the various equipment available for the more in-depth. There are a lot of patients and a lot of staff members. We don't always make it out in the time frame I had expected, so add an hour just to be sure I don't double book my life read more

When you check in on the kiosk there is nothing to tell you it went through. Poor man sat for an hour just to find out the check in didn't go through. Not a minute later it happened again. Which caused everyone in the waiting room to stand up get in line just to verify they were checked in. I heard the front desk ladies say this happens all the time. My apt was for 2pm. Didn't get called until 3. After nurse did her thing. Sat in another waiting room for another 45 minutes finally got out of there after 5. Saw dr. All of 5 minutes for him to tell me they don't do that procedure. Then why was I referred here, why did the lady on the phone allow me to make the appointment, why did the ladies up front or the nurse say something. I regretfully am writing a negative review about Barnet Dulaney Perkins and my recent cataract surgery on my right eye. I am 67 and had been told for some time that I was developing cataracts and surgery was recommended. Due to my age, my surgery was covered by Medicare which meant that I had no out of pocket, but it also makes my surgery less profitable for the group. After agreeing to the surgery, I was scheduled for "pre-op consultation" sessions, one of which was nothing but a sales pitch for "upgrades", which included offering me a "much better new lens" for an additional $4,000! I was extremely disappointed that the covered lens was not the best available, and I declined the $4K upsell. Big mistake! My vision with the "medicare covered" lens is WORSE than before the surgery and is blurry all the time snd extremely bothersome. I would have preferred to keep my prior "cataract covered lens" than the "medicare lens" I opted for. The two stars is for the operative procedure which was painless, efficient and professional. The Dr. was excellent. BUT MY ADVICE IS DON'T DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE ADDITIONAL $4K FOR A LENS THAT HOPEFULLY WORKS,, because the one Medicare covered is terrible! read more

I was all set to schedule catarac surgery but since i had such a bad experience here I thought I'd try a second doctor/office. Sure enough, i do not need surgery, and I do not evey have cataracs or they are very negliable. The lack of friendlyness i can deal with , but the bad/neglient advice was inexcusable. read more

I visited the Surprise location on July 2, 2025 after receiving a referral from Eyeglass World. When I arrived, the front office staff member made my son and I feel that we did not belong there. She repeatedly said "I can't find you in the system" and "Who made this appointment?" I expressed to her that a member of their staff called me and gave me the Surprise location address and told me that I would be meeting with Dr. Horsman at 8:30am. A few moments later, she said, "Oh, your last name is spelled wrong in our system". It is not my issue that your staff failed to verify the correct spelling of a simple last name. She then rudely asked for my medical insurance card and when I told her I had just scanned it to their kiosk and entered my son's information, she replied "You need to do it again because I couldn't find you the first time and you had no account." I complied with her request. She offered no apology for the inconvenience or the mix-up in finding my appointment. She then had the nerve to say "Well, I don't know if you can be seen now because you're late and we have a 15 minute grace period." She called the back of the office and stated to another staff member that "They just arrived for the appointment." I informed her that her input was a lie because even though we walked in and entered information on the kiosk at 8:35am, we had spent the last 15 minutes waiting on her to discover if I had an appointment or not. We ended up being seen by Dr. Horsman. He presented with terrible patient-centered care. He gave me no eye contact and a short hello, looked at my teenage son and said "Why are you here to see me? Are you diabetic or something?" I was livid. I answered for my African American son who is autistic, and stated "No, my son is not diabetic." I explained to him how and why we were referred to his office. He then examines my son's eyes for a few minutes, leaves abruptly and tells a nurse in the hallway, "He needs more dilation." The nurse comes in and administers more eye drops to dilate his eyes. Dr. Horsman returns, with no communication to me or my son, puts back on his head mounted instrument and once again uses light and a magnifying glass to check my son's eyes. He sits down at his computer, types notes and proceeds to tell us that he wants to see my son back in four months and that he didn't see anything. He mentioned that the concerned area around his eye is likely something that has always been there. Then, he walks out. This was by far the worst experience I've had with a physician. I would not recommend Dr. Horsman or being seen at this location. I will not be taking my son back to this location in four months. Shame on you, Barnet-Dulaney-Perkins Eye Center! Treat people with care. They are coming to you for assistance, not to feel as they don't belong or they are a nuisance. I value patient-centered care AND technical knowledge in order to receive the best outcomes. read more

Don't go here for your cataract surgery. The medical team is top-notch, but the business team and their billing practices are awful. You will be made to pay a package fee up front and then told that your surgery is covered by that package -- that incidentally cannot be run through insurance. Then absolutely everything will be run through your insurance. When you ask what the package fee was for, absolutely no one in the facility can answer that question. Not the billing department, the business counselors, the cashiers -- no one. I asked four different people and no one had a clue. I suspect that it is a down payment, but no one will call it that. Between my insurance and my out-of-pocket, I ended up paying more than twice what my sister paid at a different facility for equally good results. I don't mind paying a bit more, but I do need to understand up front what my costs will be and what is covered by my "surgical package." RUN from this place. read more

Dr Johnson is wonderful. If you have issues, she is willing to listen. However, I would have to downgrade this clinic. Last year I had them replace my lens in my existing frames. The new lenses were incorrect. I struggled for a year thinking that I just had to accept it was due to my older age. I then found out they replaced my perscription with WRONG lens. I was promised that they would replace free of charge due to their error. After returning from holidays in WA, (as agreed) I am now told that I will have to pay full price. $400 is a price I cannot absorb. read more

I made my appointment on their online site. Dr. Johnson had a 7:30a opening. I took that time. I put in my insurance information. I arrived early as requested and they did not have me in the system. Desk person apologetic saying the online system was new. Offered me an appointment over a month out. No effort to suggest an earlier time. And, the office waiting room is as impersonal as it gets. Little check in kiosks. Felt like a motor vehicle lobby not a professional office. And, as you walk into the room there is a chalkboard (looks like1st grade writing) telling you that your appointment isn't really an appointment . Called the Goodyear office and was told to have the doctor send the exam results to Barnet Delaney. Called the Goodyear office and was told to fax the results but the images won't be any good if faxed, asked for an email number to email the pictures of the cataract and was put on hold for 10 minutes and then told that they is not an email address to send images too. Terrible customer service and will be going to Southwestern Eye Center. I was always under the impression that Barnet Delaney was one of the best, but my only interaction was awful! read more

I checked in and specifically declined paying an extra $50plus for "refractory" services. I was not sure what that meant. During my exam I asked the young lady about the charge and she prattled on about me getting a full eye exam. my assumption was everything was included. When I went to leave they informed me I owed the $50plus if I wanted my new prescription. I am not sure how we move from refractory to new prescription, but I consider it a LOW DOWN DIRTY TRICK to bate and switch like that. I would not reccomend these people to wash my dog!! read more

I went to the wrong office for my preop. Dr Perkins was kind enough to wait while we drove to proper place. Dr Perkins was very kind and reassuring. Dr Perkins gave me information he was very efficient. He made me feel comfortable about his skill and care. The assistant was kind and knowledgeable. I feel at ease about my procedure. Even though I had to go through 2hr of testing everything was fine until I got to the (girl) who made the surgery appointments. She was sharp with her tone of voice, rude, in a rush and not patient and explained nothing! She expected ME to know what was going to happen, why, how long it would take and got irritated with me because I had no idea what she was talking about regarding the 3 choices I had for surgery!!! Why would you expect me to know anything about something I've never done before? Why would you expect me to make a surgical choice when I had no idea what you're talking about? Why were you rude and irritated with me when I'm a first time patient? I'm the patient, me and my insurance are paying for a service that you're supposed to be providing! Get your office staff in line and teach them how to properly talk to your patients! NOBODY should have to endure rudeness or attitude from ANYONE on your staff!!!! read more

Be prepared to wait over an hour to see the doctor. My appointment was 215, I asked at 315 if it was going to be much longer. They claimed I didn't check in at kiosk. I did when I walked in and verified with person sitting at desk if it went through and she said yes. At 345 I was brought into room to have eyes tested. Back into waiting room to wait till 425. Was placed into an exam room and Doctor came in at 445. I would have left but it was a followup for eye surgery. I will never recommend this practice nor will I return. This Eye Center is outstanding! The first time that I was there Dr Gilford saw things in my eyes that my other Eye Doctor didn't discuss with me. I had laser surgery,no pain, and it cleared up the cloudiness in my vision. read more

Terrible patient service. I waited 1 1/2 hours for a 2 minute pressure test 2 days ago (the Dr blamed it on the computer). Only to find out my pressure was too high, so the Rx didn't work. BDP previously referred me to a compounding pharmacy. It took over a week to get a refill bc BDP called in the wrong Rx 3 times! Also, my Rx was changed without notifying me. Now I have to try yet another Rx. This means I have to return next month, then wait, Lord knows how long for a pressure test and pay $75 co-pay and drive an hour each way. This was on top of the horrible service last June. Then, I was told by the snotty receptionist that I needed a referral. I've been a patient there for 3 years. She was rude and refused to check me in. She told me that I'd have to make a new appt (pay another co-pay and drive another hour each way). I asked her why I wasn't notified in advance since I'd previously checked in on line. She ignored that! She refused to call Blue Cross, so I had to. It took me over an hour to get through due to bad cell connection issues. Once I got through, I had to hand my phone to the receptionist to verify that BCBS doesn't require a referral. I was finally seen 2 hours after my appt time. Now, I am looking for a new provider. read more

The staff is extremely rude and very heartless to people suffering from dementia. We saw nurse Stephanie, extremely rude to my mother suffering from dementia, Stephanie couldn't grasp that dementia patients have short term memory problem and became aggressive with my mother . Another nurse came by and asked my mother what's your problem,I explained mom is suffering from dementia. Staff doesn't wear gloves and nurse Stephanie used a Kleenex tissue instead. No social distancing at all in small confined rooms Other staff putting hair in ponytails and chatting with no mask at all. Find another Eye Dr and save yourself the aggressive staff. read more
