Best eye exam in years! This place is so thorough and my husband and I learned so much about our eyes. The village eye care had different machines to test our eyes that we have never used before (I've had glasses for 8 years now; so that 8 years of eye exams and we left this place with so much more knowledge about eye health and care) We loved how they took time with the eye exam and then trying on different lens prescriptions to see what was most comfortable was the best part. Last year I had an eye exam somewhere else and I left with glasses that were unwearable because they were too strong. (I had the worst headaches) So this year we switched to The Village Eye care and we could not be happier. I've been coming to this office for a couple of years now maybe four years and Dr. Baird, is probably the best eye doctor I've had in the last 20 years or more. Last time I saw Dr. Vang who I was not thrilled about because of how much I like Dr. Baird,, however, Dr. vang is just as good! she was amazing. Both Dr. Baird, and Dr. Vang take time with you to go over your needs and double check things which I really appreciate. but the highlight for me when I go here are the opticians Krista and Heidi. They both helped me out a lot with my glasses and are a pleasure to work with. Krista turned me onto some sunglasses that I didn't know I had to have until she showed them to me lol. And Heidi helped with adjustments and some mild tweaking of the frames. At this point, I have my daily wear glasses, my work glasses and of course the sunnies!!! All perfect! read more

B**CHY! I couldn't just be seen for my new eyeglasses and to get an Rx although I just saw my opthamologist a few days ago. They'd rather scoop up as much money as they can from innocent victims and do unnecessary testing and they're a scam office. I jumped through all of their hoops getting this info and that info, they refused to get the info from the other office, they never contacted me back and everyone was as rude as could be. So, since I wouldn't let them do all of this unnecessary testing that I just got done, they blew me off. Be wary of all of the eye docs scamming people for unnecessary testing just so they can line their pockets. They've been rude from the very first time I went there. First of all they wouldn't give me my information or answer my questions, they went around in circles for 20 minutes not knowing any legal information on my questions, super unprofessional and trying to get you to spend money the entire time, very money hungry and non professional, doctor moore was of NO help to me what so ever, she spoke way too quickly and walked right over my questions throwing me at the ladies that book appointments just so she wouldn't have to deal with my questions, $135 out of pocket to be given 0 answers to my concerns and issues, I scheduled an appointment for contacts not glasses but got charged for glasses, I'm pretty disappointed and annoyed. specially heidi the office manager, she is a nightmare to speak to, she will act like she doesn't know what ur talking about and go in circles with you for minutes on end trying to avoid valid questions you have for her, she will quickly try to book you and get rid of you, don't even bother texting the Villege phone. Number you'll get get Heidi to go in circles with you again, they also canceled my appointment for Monday with doctor Abela after I asked them for my new information from todays appointment and my old contact information which legally they have to provide, I'm truly disgusted after paying $135 for 0 information about my OWN eyes. They are difficult and play stupid here I really do NOT recommend The Federal Trade Commission enforces the Eyeglass Rule. It requires eye doctors ― ophthalmologists and optometrists ― to give patients a copy of their prescription ― whether they ask for it or not. Update I am now being harassed by jalynn Baird as you can now see in the photos, I left them 1 true honest review and now I'm being accused and harassed and threatened with legal counsel for speaking the truth. read more

He was very patient with my questions and concerns and offered solutions that were cost effective and fit my life style. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. They only care about themselves and really don't care about the individual. I got a script for a prescription four months ago and got it filled last week. I had it filled at another eyeglass place because they had the frames I wanted. it turned out to be the wrong prescription and I had to run around getting proof that it was the wrong prescription and when I went back to Village Eyecare, they said well we'll have to charge you again $55 for an exam. The reason they had to charge me they say is because it's been more than 30 days and you got your lens from another company, since when does that or invalidate my prescription. I wanted them to verify it and recheck me to see what they did wrong. As it happens, the OD tested me at Village Eye. Care no longer works there. I wonder why. Please go to another eyecare center and don't waste your time with the people at Village Eyecare. Even though the people there are courteous, their policies SUCK. Can you imagine they're filling a prescription and they won't turn around and retest my eyes when I tell them it's the wrong prescription. read more

This place deserves NO STARS! Have been seeing Dr.Baird for about 10 years never had a horrible experience until he moved into his new office with all new people and doctors who do not care about customer service will talk down to you in text messages then run scared when you call, the front desk ladies literally could not be bothered to do the job they were hired to do, constantly eye rolling heavy sighing when asked a question and gossiping about patients once they so called check you in but hand you a tablet to finish the work for them. They also love looking at the poor reviews wondering how they can get them removed which is the point of reviews, people should know the truth. Dr. Abela will have you walk out of the office with the wrong prescription contacts twice and told me to "try them for a week" without being able to see properly. When I brought this up to the technician she sided with the Doctor and insisted I keep trying them and then just started insulting the way I was texting as if that was more important. so this might not mean anything to Dr.Baird but my family and I will no longer be using this office. I'm sure he never got the voice-mail my husband left because the front office ladies deleted it. Good luck with those ladies they will be the death of this office. read more

This office schedules appointments then when you show up you all the sudden you have no appointment! Heaven forbid you don't show up to your appointment they charge you $49. 00! I'm still wondering where my sons $49.00 for him showing up to his appointment that WAS scheduled & they submitted an authorization to VSP, yet said he didn't have an appointment! When we went to a different office, my son was denied to be seen because Village Eye care didn't cancel the authorization! The staff is horrible..they literally could care less! My son and I have been patients of Dr. Bairds for 12 years. We have always been completely happy with all the services we have received in this office. We both look forward to our appointments with Dr. Baird, we get to catch up with a friend and we know we are headed for some laughs. I picked up my new glasses earlier this week. As I was getting ready to leave I asked if my glasses included a cleaning cloth. I was told I could not have a cleaning cloth because I didn't pay for additional coatings. Seriously?? My son and I spent at least $900.00 cash, above both of our insurance plans, this year alone. I was shocked and disappointed to see how this office treats long time patients. Have never had any issues here, policies if you take the time to ACTUALLY READ are straight forward. Usually go to Dr Baird wasn't able to due to how far out we'd have to book so we went with the other doctor. I forget their name but he was pleasant and dialed in my prescription in a quick 10 minutes. 4 pairs of glasses later still have nothing but good things to say about the office as a whole. Reading the 1 star comments about the restocking fees is almost comedic, anywhere you go is going to have a restocking fee. read more

My husband was in need of an eye exam for an out of state driver license renewal. He was able to get an appointment the following day when I called. This was our first time at this facility and were very satisfied with every aspect of it. He was examined by Preston Summerhays, OD. The entire staff was very efficient and pleasant to work with. My wife and son had a 4PM appointment and didn't get seen by a doctor until 5PM (yes, an HOUR after their scheduled appt), and didn't get done with their appointments until close to 6PM. Almost 2 hours and didn't even see the doctor that they were schedule to see! My son missed his basketball practice (which we pay for) because Village Eye Care doesn't value the time of their patients. They would have walked out 30 minutes in, but waited a month for this appointment and didn't want to wait a month for another. If you value your time, you may want to consider another provider. My husband and I have been going to see Dr Baird for over 10 years. We moved out of state for 6 years and when we came back we decided we'd go back to Village Eye Care. That won't happen ever again. First we were put with the new doctor that works there after specifically asking for Dr. Baird. Then it came time to order our glasses. The lady seemingly did whatever she wanted. We have very good eye insurance, and when we got home we looked at the receipt and she added all kinds of add ins to my lenses. I called and said I don't want those. She said "well, you're script is so bad, you need it" I'm +2.75 in my worst eye. That's not bad. My husband is in the 9's. I know what bad eyesight is. She refused to change the things she added on. She wasn't very nice when we called and we decided we'd never go back. It's a shame, because that used to be a REALLY good office. read more

Went here to get an eye exam and then my first ever pair of glasses. Dr. Baird explained the process as we went along and was very helpful in discussing my options as I had both nearsighted and farsighted needs. The fitting process was fast and easy and they had a huge selection to choose from. In the end I ordered 2 pairs of glasses and am wearing them everyday and the fit is perfect and my vision is clear. My first visit was pleasant and friendly. After I received my new specs and tried them for several weeks I returned, and we went through my requirements again. I told them my current glasses were fine and asked why these are so different? They put several red dots on the lens and said they would send them back to the lab. When I returned with the third pair that were no different, I was told that a third redo would cost me $250. They can't get it right in two tries and they want me to pay for the third? It was when she tried to sell me the Blu Blocker OPTION that I left. Felt like being at a Car Dealer. It's irritating when any business comes highly recommended, but is nothing short of a severe let down. Village eye care gives you one redo and my wife ended up using that one redo. Rather than paying for the 3rd redo (paying for ineptitude seems rather idiotic) she is suffering by letting her eyes adjust. This doesn't seem to be happening and she bought her glasses 3 months ago. We thought that maybe my wife just had a tough prescription, but after the same thing happened to my daughter, I now am very suspect of their ability to provide the very service that is at the core of their existence. My daughter's glasses were so bad, that she was seeing double. Because of how dangerous this was for her, we ended up sending her to a larger chain that stands behind their prescriptions without a horrible "single redo" policy. My review covers the past year. I had an appointment last summer. This office was recommended on social media. I purchased a few different glasses. Even with insurance, I spent $800 out of pocket. The prescription never seemed right for the ones I needed for my work. I look at computer screens all day long and wanted something to see the screens clearly as well as have the blue tint to protect my eyes. The screens were always blurry and I went back and was told my eyes just need to get used to the glasses. I tried over and over again to use them for work, there was no getting used to them. My husband was making an appointment to see our eye doctor in Sacramento, so I told him to book an appointment and airfare for me too. My husband wears special contact lens that our doctor in CA has so that is why he was going there. Yes, it was an expensive trip, but so worth it. I brought the glasses I got from Village and my CA doctor said, it was no wonder I couldn't use them, they were the wrong prescription!! I knew it! And I was told, I needed to get used to them. I got my new glasses shipped to me and they work perfectly. Everything is crystal clear. I will never go back to Village. What a big waste of my money AND nearly a year of straining my eyes. read more

I have thought long and hard about doing this review, I have gone back and forth with myself for almost a year about writing this, but I feel I owe it to potential customers of Village Eye Care. I was a long time customer and absolutely thought I had finally found a place to take care of my eyesight needs. Dr Baird had been great to work with and had always taken care of me. I went in for a annual checkup and to renew my contact perscription. I was not put with Dr Baird but with a new doctor. She was all business and seemed to be a bit short with me at times which was OK had because there are times when we all have had things on our mind or were having a bad day at work. Went to check out and get my contact prescription and the bill included new contacts. I told the girl that I just needed to pay for the exam and the prescription because I can get the same contacts online for about half price. I was then told that I had to pay for the contacts in order for them to check fit when they recieved them because the doctor would be liable if there were any problems. Being a long time contact wearer I know that once after you had been examined and were offered to buy your contacts the exam is considered over and you are free to buy them from anywhere. This is very clearly spelled out under the Federal Trade Commission rules regarding dispensing of contact lenses. After going around with the office staff in a firm but respectful manner I had them remove my contact order from the bill and left without my contact prescription. Days later Dr Baird's wife called me and asked how we could resolve this issue. I stated my case that they had offered me contacts and according to Federal Law at that point I was entitled to receive my prescription and was free to buy my contacts elsewhere. She told me that the law did not apply to me because my contacts were " custom" made and required me to have a fit check. I have been wearing the same Boston lenses for almost 55 years and this was the first time I had heard that my lenses were "custom" and had many times at other doctors had picked up my lenses and went on my way. We agreed to disagree and went on about our days. I made an appointment to Costco eye center and was in and out with a prescription for contacts, was told I could order them at Costco which was half the price that Village eye care wanted to charge me or anywhere I chose to get them. Oh, and by the way I was told I had a cataract forming in my left eye which was completely missed by the doctor at Village eye care less than two months before. My only conclusion is when a business is willing to violate the law for an extra 100 bucks I personally don't want to do business there. They lost my trust and my business. read more

Two walls from the front to the rear of the store front are covered with rows of frames from Versace, Burberry, Gucci, A/X, Prada etc (no Coach) to other lower end styles. I visited 2 other eye wear stores on Bell and The Village had the biggest selection of styles. With a ceiling to floor glass front, the store was infused with lots of natural light. I also liked the many different mirrors--framed, unframed, portrait--positioned so you could check out various options without having to search for a mirror. The staff were extremely helpful, researching different color options for a few frames I liked. They didn't exert their unwanted opinions about style selection or try to talk me into buying a lot of additional crap. I just rec'd my glasses, less than 2 wks after I ordered them ; ) And they told me to return anytime, for a free adjustment, if I start to feel the glasses start to slide down the bridge of my nose or feel too tight around my ears after wearing them a bit.
