We were pleasantly surprised with Barnwood this past weekend while we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge. My husband has celiac disease and the chef personally came out to our table to talk to us about the gluten free modifications he could make for us. 20 minute wait was more like 5 minutes. Service was great. The sampler app was delicious. The pork belly could've been cooked a little more to render the fat more like a crackling. We ordered several kids meals. All of which came out fine. We also ordered 2-1/2 chicken plates and 2-chili lime chicken bowl. Both were very tasty. Costs were in line with what you would expect for a sit down semi fine dining restaurant. For food at a kid hotel/resort... everything was really good. Party included 9 people 3 being children. Went on a Wednesday night and the earliest we could be seated was 9:45 PM even though on the app it said closed at 9PM (app times/ availability was not accurate). Showed up earlier around 9:25 and they said we could be seated as the restaurant was emptying out. Order the meatballs as an appetizer, and I did not disappoint. The ricotta cheese was a great addition and the garlic bread was toasted to perfection we had to ask for more. For the entrée I chose the grilled shrimp, which included cauliflower fried rice. So full of flavor and had a quite a bit of spice. Highly recommend going if you were staying at the resort or in the area with the kids. read more

My husband and I had purchased food vouchers for Great Wolf Lodge before we read the reviews of the restaurants. After reading the reviews for this restaurant, we were sad about the possibility of getting bland overpriced food. We got seated and were told that the menu was new as of yesterday March 6th 2024, and we got even more nervous. I ordered the Roasted Half Chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and garlic green beans. My husband got the burger, my son ordered the wing appetizer and for my daughter we ordered the kids chicken tenders. This restaurant is 5 stars and earned every last star! The food was cooked to perfection, even the kids meal you can tell they put care in it. The kids chicken tenders were juicy and not over breaded and it came with fresh fries, carrots, celery and two large orange wedges WITHOUT SEEDS! I was thinking and prepared to think we were going to have to eat unhealthy for this vacation to Wolf Lodge, but I am so glad this restaurant was an option! My Half Chicken was FREE RANGE chicken and juicy! The green beans were just the right amount of crisp with tasty garlic flavor. The burger was WAY better than Applebees or Texas Roadhouse. I was so impressed! To top it off, the staff was super nice, and I celebrated my birthday and they brought the most delicious fudge brownie complimentary with a birthday WOLF song. This restaurant was the highlight for me after seeing my children's smiles while playing at the water park. Thank you to Tammy for the great service and for the cooks in the back. Sweeeeeet lord, where do I start. So, we ordered spinach dip that came out like warm. Nothing like dairy when it's like warm. Then I ordered the shrimp Alfredo which also came like warm and mind you this menu item is like $28 or something and it was like I went to a drive thru.. presentation was sloppy. When you cook pasta at restaurants they pre portion servings after like, par boiling it.. the rest of the cooking process takes place in the pan with the sauce... guaranteed they threw the pasta in there and didn't let it continue to cook at all before plating the food because it was not hot and the pasta was not cooked through correctly. All this to say I wouldn't scrutinize this if I was at an Arby's.. but if I'm paying 20-30 dollars for an entree please get my food right. It should be hot. Should be cooked correctly and oh the shrimp was just a touch undercooked as well. Then moving on to my husband... his food was so salty he could not barely eat it. We really should have sent all the food back but we were hungry and didn't want to have to wait any longer.. but yall. Also PLEASE have more Gluten free menu options. What started off as though we might have a problem got better once we met our server Sarah. She was very friendly and catered to our needs family of six. The food did come fast that made us happy. What mad us un happy was the artichoke spinach dip. It had no flavor and very watery. This is the upscale dining restaurant inside The Great Wolf Lodge. We were a party of 9, spanning three generations (6 adults and 3 kids). We dined here Thursday, January 3rd, 2019. We started with 2 appetizers: the Fried Green Tomatoes- very good and the hot pretzel (only one pretzel, which kids liked, but very pricey for 1 pretzel). Our table had the fried chicken family dinner with biscuits, fried chicken entree, Filet, Fish, and the following sides: loaded mashed potatoes (my favorite), mac n cheese and corn. We felt like the food was above average for Great Wolf Lodge, but was just ok. Nothing special. My filet was cooked perfectly, but didn't have much flavor. The loaded mashed potatoes were a special for the night and a must order, if dining there. If we ate there again, I would have selected items from the Specials menu. This restaurant is located inside the Great Wolf Lodge Resort. You do not have to be staying at the resort to enjoy the restaurant. The hours may be a little sketchy right now due to Covid, so call ahead to see if they are open before making the trek if you aren't staying at the hotel. If you are staying at the hotel, then look for the chalkboard out front with the hours and/or closures. Up front, my husband is still talking about how good the rib eye was there. That steak deserves 5 stars alone, but there is more to my/our visit than that steak. We all try and taste each other's food in my family. I will say, if you like steak, you'll definitely like this one! I had the pappardelle with no additional meat and our son had the Loaded Mac and Cheese with chicken...both were very good, but the chicken was a tad tough. I had a little piece of aluminum foil in my pappardelle pasta dish. Not sure how they heat up the food and/or how it is stored, but just be aware of it...I'm glad I didn't swallow it. We were disappointed that they were out of calamari. Considering they had been closed for the first few days of our stay and the limited hotel capacity...how could they be out? Oh well. You will be greeted with friendly staff from the start. Our waitress was super friendly and fast as well. The atmosphere itself is plain, has a cold feel about it and not very welcoming. The restaurant seating itself is not comfortable. The seats were hard and the tables seemed narrow. Plus, if you are sitting on the cushion side near the wall, you can't lean back to relax because there are these barrels hanging on the wall that hang over and impede on where you are sitting. If you are sitting there, you must lean forward or sit up straight...not to mention accidently hitting your head on a barrel. The prices seem slightly elevated, but I guess you can chalk it up to paying for the convenience of not driving anywhere if you are staying at the hotel. The menu is limited, but sufficient to meet the needs of most desires and the portions are ample. read more

Reservation was at 8:45 - soonest we could get since they were so busy. Sat down at 8:50. Ordered food at 9pm. Our meals didn't come out until 9:45!! We were starving at this point. My daughter's wings were the best thing at the table, they were actually pretty delicious... but my husband's $36 steak was extremely thin and gray in color and my shrimp pasta tasted like a frozen TV dinner. Wow! I sent mine back but he's Mr. Anticonflict so he dealt with the steak and ate it. He tried to get steaksauce to make it more bearable, but what do you know they were all out. I assume the other customers had the same idea to dilute their terrible steaks in steaksauce which is why they were fresh out. Just save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Our pack visited Great Wolf Lodge on 7/25/24 and made reservations at Barnwood for 5:30 PM. We were seated promptly. As a starter, we ordered the Cheesy Baked Spinach Artichoke Dip, so yummy! Kids ordered Kids Cheeseburger Meal and Kids Chicken Tenders Meal. Both orders came out timely and was hot and fresh. My husband and I shared the Roasted 1/2 Chicken with Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans Dinner. This is a lot of food and with us sharing there was still some left over. Food came out timely and was hot and fresh. Also, yummy! Lastly but definitely not least, our server, Sarah S. Very knowledgeable around the menu, attentive and prompt. The service was wonderful. Great vibes inside the restaurant. The menu needs a facelift.. They did a great job of making the items sound delicious but the execution was not there. We ordered 6 different items and the only thing that I would even consider getting again is the salsa. The Chili Chicken bowl has zero flavor at all and it consisted of large hunks of breast instead of a traditional sliced, shredded or even cubed. The Bolognese was essentially overly oiled noodles with meat sauce.. we never did quite find the "Braised short rib" that it's supposed to have. The burgers were over cooked and hard. We aren't foodies by any means but the food is comparable to what you'd receive from a food court. Again, the server, host, and bartender were all wonderful. The steaks were ordered, medium rare and they were medium well and not a lot of flavor or tenderness. The s'mores dessert was basically Hershey's chocolate syrup with a few charred marshmallows on top and no graham crackers, but our sweet server gave us more strawberries. The old fashioned I ordered was terrible but my server again saved the day and offered a new one, the new one was better with a different whiskey, BUT still was lacking in the bitters and anything you'd expect from an old fashioned.
