I took my puffer vest to get cleaned her after two small stains, when I picked it up I was horrified. Not only were the stains still there, there was two more stains and they STAPLED their papers to the hood of the vest leaving holes in the hood. They also stapled another paper to the coat hook inside and claimed they do this all the time, zero logic. I left a review, received a call that I would receive a refund and they would pay for the $300 vest. Of course neither happened so here I am. read more

This used to be a decent dry cleaner, but the quality of their service has deteriorated. My latest experience was horrible. I requested that they clean my suit jacket. I had to ask them to redo the jacket three (!) times, and it still was not clean. What is more, they almost lost it, which gave me much anxiety and worry. They got stains out, new and old despite telling me the older ones would be difficult. I loved finding this place initially, close to work and reasonably priced. Angie is a sweetheart and gets things done quickly. I brought a few 'test' items the first few times I went. I felt she did a good job and I trusted her more and more with my more treasured pieces. After some time, I decided to bring my wedding gown for a cleaning after doing a photoshoot before the wedding. BIG mistake. I splurged on this skirt + jumpsuit combo from BHLDN at Anthropologie. I took great care getting these items to Angie and asked her to please take extra care of since it was my wedding dress. As I was leaving, I noticed she tossed the skirt in a crumple in a laundry basket. My stomach turned, but I didn't say anything since I figured she would improve its condition before I returned. I should have trusted my gut. When I picked up the items, to my horror, I discovered that the dainty silk waistline had been punctured not once, not twice, but three different times with a safety pin to hang on a hanger. The skirt very clearly had cloth hooks in the side to hang it without damaging the waistline. You can even see these hooks in the picture an inch away from where the pin was stuck. How do you stick a pin in but not notice the loops you need to hang it from?? She saw how it was hung on the hanger when I gave to her. Additionally, because the skirt is so heavy and the skirt had been hanging from the silk waistline for a bit, it stretched the silk around the holes and the sheer material layer that hangs on top of the skirt itself. Although it is not ruined, it is most definitely not in the condition I left it in. As a bride, you want as many things as you can to be perfect on your day and this I cannot forgive. I cannot afford an entirely new one and it's way too close to my date to even order a new one even if I had the money. I unfortunately will have to take my business elsewhere. read more

The first time I went to Barr Cleaners was because another dry cleaner damaged my dress and I wanted to see if Barr could fix it. Not only was the woman behind the counter so friendly and polite, she was helpful. A few days later, she showed me the dress, and it looked fixed. When I arrived home to try it on, I could tell she did wonders. While the price I paid in the end was not the one she initially quoted, I was ok with paying slightly more as it involved fixing the hem and pleats of the bottom half of a dress as well as potentially adjusting the side seams where the pockets were. Additionally, she did caveat that she might not be able to fix the dress so I appreciated her upfront-ness. And so for the last two months, I have trekked to Farragut Square, greeting the folks behind the front desk and walking into the quaint space that is Barr Cleaners where the woman greets me by name and asks when I need my items. She is always flexible and can turn the items around within a day or two, if it's not a lot. Most of the times, I tell her she can take her time, and even still, it's only a couple of days, and I'm ok with that. The most recent dress I brought in clearly showed wear, and when I asked if she could take care of it, she smiled and said in her cute way, "No problem." Prices are a little pricey, but the service is worth it in my opinion. read more

Dropped 13 shirts off today, very polite Korean lady told me they'd be ready in two days. They offer next day service, but with so many shirts, that seemed tough. Anyway, she came running outside to tell me to make sure to come back after 4, quite sweet. So far, very impressed, I'll follow up if there's anything noteworthy about the cleaning service. I've been taking my clothes to Angie for the past 2 1/2 years, and have 0 complaints! She is professional, reasonably priced, and does a fantastic job keeping my clothes in great condition. She has also patched some things up for me, fixed some shoes, as well as small alterations here and there. On top of all of this, she's a sweet, sweet lady! I just recently changed jobs and can no longer go to Barr Cleaners since it's only open during the week, and I've moved across town. I'm so sad! (she was too when I told her). Angie (the owner) is amazing - the work she does is fantastic and it's a great value. I've gotten dry cleaning done and it was cheap and quick, but I also had a suit tailored. It was a complicated job - taken in, sleeves shortened, pants hemmed and also taken in - and they came out incredibly well. I was able to drop off a shirt there right before work at 8:30, and it was ready for pick up the next day. Thoroughly disappointed in this place. It's close to work so I decided to try it out-- I altered the hem of a dress and had my coat dry cleaned. I might as well have washed my coat at home myself because it came back looking exactly the same. They could have used a lint roller on it at the very minimum, but they didn't even do that. I have to agree with what previous reviewers have said-- I indicated a spot on one of the tops I had dropped off and instead of cleaning it there was just a large stain where they had dropped water/solvent on it and spread it out.
