Great dry cleaner! I've gone here 5-6 times. Their prices are low and the manager is kind. I've dry cleaned my and friends' cashmere sweaters, blazers, and silk dresses here. Yet to have a bad experiences. Highly recommend! I think contrary to restaurants, people don't have the incentive to post good reviews for dry-cleaners. In restaurants, you have a delicious and memorable meal, so you want to post something nice to capture the moment and share the joy. With dry cleaners, you expect that your clothes will come out nice and clean. If that happens - voila - you're done. You're content. So, most people will only review a dry cleaner when something goes wrong. I'm the usual, Jo Shmo, fellow bureaucrat spreading love for a small business doing a great job. if i could give this place zero stars, i would. i went here last wednesday with pants that needed a new zipper and a skirt that needed sewing. i was told to come friday. because i work legit at the corner, i went friday after work. when i go in, im told the zipper for my pants had to be ordered but to come monday. i asked the lady to call me next time if there's any news so i wont come. she said okay. i went yesterday, monday after work to get my items. soon as i walked in this lady is smiling so im thinking my stuff is done. absolutely not. not only did she tell me the part for my pants zipper didn't come, then she said she DOES NOT usually call or update her clients when there are changes for pickup. huh? as a small business owner myself, i knew that didn't sound right. so i explain to her i need the pants for an event and would've made other plans had i known they wouldn't be ready. i ask how this can be reconciled and she said to me she'll refund me and give me back my pants. huh? so then she gets my pants and puts them NOT in the bag i left (because she lost it) but she hands me back both items. so i say, why are you giving me back my skirt too? it didn't need a zipper it needed sewing. she lied straight to my face and said i told her BOTH items needed a zipper. i told her how unprofessional she was and i left. this lady is a liar and the convenience of this location was the only reason i came here. never ever again. picture is proof that i did not need two zippers but one zipper and one sewing. she's a liar for sure and so unprofessional. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

Do not ever go here. They shrunk my sweater, argued with me, won't call, and I haven't gotten my money back. I went back in there today after returning my shrunken sweater a month ago (having been promised the owner would call--she never did) and was greeted by a man with his feet up on a stool, no shoes, who argued with me about the situation. After seeing the reviews for this place, I was nervous coming here. But I figured that since (1) this is the only tailor nearby who is open after I get off work and (2) all the reviews are a few years old, I'd give it a try. The lady who works there is so sweet and talented. I took 3 suits and 3 dress pants to get altered here, and she was fantastic! Super helpful in taking all my measurements to make my clothes fit me perfectly. Plus, she is genuinely such a nice person. I usually don't write reviews, but, in my view, the reviews on Yelp don't reflect the service I received, and I encourage people to try this place out. read more

The hours are not accurate at all on the doors it says they open at 7am. I come multiple times and they are not open when they say they are. I came at 7 and they were not open. I decided to come in the middle of the day at 1:00pm on a Saturday and they are still not open. This is the 3rd time I've come and they are not open. And they don't even put a sign at the door or anything. read more

I took three set of suits for dry cleaning, and two of them were damaged: (1) one suit has a missing button on the front and four sleeve buttons broken or cracked; and (2) the second suit's sleeve was teared up. Based on trust of the dry cleaner, I did not discover all of these conditions at once. I am thoroughly disappointed and discourage anyone from using their services ever again. UPDATE: I went to the dry cleaner and asked if I could get the buttons fixed. The missing button on the front was added. However, they denied any responsibility for the sleeve buttons. read more

Ok. Fine. I waited until the last minute to get my suit dry cleaned. This place advertises same day service, which is just what I needed. I drop it off at 7am and go back to pick it up at 6:30pm. The woman behind the counter started looking frantically for the ticket, then tells me that the suit wasn't done and that I should pick it up tomorrow morning because their washing machine was broken. Oh ok. Tomorrow morning is cutting it a little close, but sure. No...wait...tomorrow morning means 10:30. Because who doesn't go to work at 11am? Anyway, I gave up. I wanted my suit back, I'll try doing it myself. Nope, it was shipped out and it's in Virginia. We don't have it and you can't have it back. Then she starts giving me attitude as to why I waited until the last minute and why I don't have a second suit. That's not right and I will never return because I don't have a suit to wear for my job interview tomorrow. Am I so crazy to think that they should have things done when they said it'll be done? I needed two pairs of pants hemmed so went in last week. Lady was pleasant and immediately had me try on. No other customers were there. It was $38 total for both pairs which I think was even more expensive than what I paid for one of the pair. However they were ready the very next day and had also been pressed. My only constructive feedback would be the place could use a cleaning behind the counter but I'd definitely use their service again. read more

Dropped off a pair of pants for dry cleaning that somehow came back two sizes smaller. When I asked what happened, they denied responsibility but offered to fix my pants for a fee. Took my dress there to have alterations done on the bust area. The existing cups were too small and I asked the woman to take them out and replace them with a size bigger. HUGE mistake!!! I should really learn that dry cleaning in DC is worthless. I always have to wash the clothes because dry cleaners here do nothing to actually clean the clothes, they just iron them. I washed the clothes I wanted "dry cleaned" and took them here with explicit instructions that I wanted the dress ironed to remove the crinkles. $27 later, it came back crinkled. They lady tried to tell me it looks better crinkled, but too bad I needed it ironed correctly to not expose the slip underneath. Lesson learned. read more

Lost one of my shirts, assured me I would get it from the customer they accidentally gave it to, then tried to charge me for that shirt. I demanded I pay for the missing shirt when I receive it - the woman working there was exasperated by this. I plan on following up until I get my shirt. I've only used VIP for alterations, but they've all been very well done (including tricky work on a jacket that basically involved so much taking-in that it was more or less a completely different size when finished - not so much altered as remade), very fast, and quite reasonably priced. I've had to wait two weeks or more for similar work - things that VIP does in a two or three days - and have paid half again as much elsewhere. read more

Do NOT go here! The service is not that great, but most of all, the sole employee who works there is not reliable! I went to this place for a few months because of pure convenience. It was on my way to work from home. However, I always had suspicions about the old Korean grandmother who works there all the time. She does not know how to run a business in America. I am Korean so I am not being racist. She just does not understand how to run a good business by making customers pleased; and I feel bad for the owner of this business because he/she does not understand how much damage this grandmother does to this dry cleaner's reputation. I am not a stickler over how well my shirts get pressed and with wrinkles. I just want to get my shirt cleaned so that I can look decent for work. However, I was willing to overlook how mediocre my shirts for convenience but I've had enough of this place and this grandma. It's this old Korean grandma who does not know how to provide decent customer service who is the biggest problem at this place. As the other reviewer posted, she keeps changing the rules and making up policy as she goes. For example, she said I could drop off shirts by 9am and have it ready to pick up same day by 5:30pm. Later on, I dropped off my shirt at 8:55am and she tells me she cannot have it ready same day because "THE LOAD WAS TOO FULL" for that day. I had to get this shirt for a wedding I was leaving for early next morning. I left that place and I am never going back there again. I took my shirt to Esteem Cleaners on Penn Ave. between 21st and 22nd which is two blocks away. The African-American lady gladly took it and said it would be ready by 4pm. Most of my dry clean laundry was done well, but one of my suits returned with one of the big front buttons smashed in half, and no one pointed it out. I didn't realize it till I took the jacket out of the plastic a week later to wear. Use V.I.P. for less delicate items in a pinch. read more

I work a block away so this establishment is super convenient, not to mention inexpensive. The owner is very nice and alterations are done fairly quick; this is my third time using VIP Cleaners and I've never had to wait more than a few days for alterations. She always calls when the garments are ready to be picked up. This is probably why she's been in business for 32 years! Keep up the good work! read more
