1.Beware of the lettuce. They do not clean it correctly (The Marina Vallarta location) I've gotten sick twice from their lettuce. Obviously not going back. 2. They clean the floors while you're eating. Despite various complaints from myself and others that it's rude and no one wants to inhale Clorox while eating. They even clean under the table your sitting at for extra effect, bump your feet with mop, it's joyous really. 3. They are very cheap with the air conditioning, refuse to adjust to customer requests. It's very stuffy, no windows open, no airflow...just stale, Clorox-filled air and unwashed lettuce. 4. They add ingredients to order that are not spelled out on the menu. 5. They are nasty when you ask questions, very defensive 6. One of the owners/managers (a woman) is so negative and condescending to everyone, I actually think she might be the source of all the misery. Wish it could be better. I think under better leadership, less cheapness, and listening to customer requests and questions....And cleaning the lettuce appropriately, this could be a great place. read more

Looking for a light breakfast we headed here. However, the food and the service was mediocre. The lady that took our order messed up on our orders. My boyfriend ordered green chilaquiles, got red chilaquiles. I ordered oatmeal with toppings on the side and got oatmeal with toppings mixed in. But as long as the food taste good, thats all that matters... but nope. Food was ok... my oatmeal was very watery. The smoothies were bland and had mostly ice. Wouldn't come back again. read more

I really like this place. Very clean with lots of healthy options. Great looking salad bar, but I was in the mood for a sandwich so had the grilled veggie panini and vegetable soup. My girlfriend got the grilled chicken panini and we both had the Barra Light juice. All was very good and I came back the next morning for some oatmeal and more juice. I came here probably 6 times in my one week vacation. It was so nice to have a spot for healthy fresh food in Mexico. We saw the owner (assuming) several times interacting with everyone, she personally came and encouraged me to come back inside after I walked outside with my crying baby making me feel welcome. Beautiful inside and out, Barra Light is clean and has a wonderful staff. But it's a far cry from a juice shop. The juice is all really just smoothies... even the shorts. I used to come to this place at least 3 times a week over the summer and it was great! However, I came back in December and they got rid of all their lunch combinations which is very disappointing. The employees were also not very nice this time around. They seemed to also be out of a lot of ingredients such as ice and bagels. The owners are very nice and I hope they can some make improvements to make this restaurant as good as it once used to be. One of the best places in town for healthy and quality food. Last spring my company, Zen Casa, hosted a gay men's wellness retreat in Puerto Vallarta. Wanting clean and healthy food for our group of men, Barra Light was highly recommended. Everyone loved the freshness of the foods, the tasty smoothies, and the refreshing juices. Barra Light also is one of the few places that has AC available. It was a refreshing escape from the afternoon heat. Nice big salads. So hard to find fresh veggies and salads in our travels throughout Mexico and the rest of Latin America. It's all very meat oriented. The sentiment in general is, why would anyone eat the foods food? If you walk by this place the big salad bowls that people have on the patio really jump out at you. I stayed in February for nine days and ate here everyday for lunch except Sunday when they were closed. I love salad and eat one every day and this place is a Make Your Own Salad Bar restaurant like the ones that have become so popular in the United States. Three different sizes of bowls with huge portions of spinach or lettuces that you choose, then you add your hand picked ingredients and choose a dressing. Of course, it's Mexico, so the quality of the vegetables is outstanding and the tastes are just what you want in a great salad. They also have smoothies, which I never had but many people ordered and were obviously quite pleased. And, they have really gorgeous looking sandwiches and breakfast served everyday, too. All this PLUS the best service you can imagine. English speaking Adriana, who is the manager and almost always there, has a great crew of hard working, kind people who do everything they can to make your experience the best it can be. Half the fun is just watching all the people come in the door and greet Adriana who is well-loved by them all and it shows. The restaurant is new, sparkling clean and there is plenty of seating. Also, several outlets are available for plugging in electronics, and as a novelist, I wrote comfortably for hours everyday. Seriously, come here and you will be so glad you did.
