It is quick service so you go up to the counter and they'll bring your food. The tostones and street corn were amazing, we devoured the appetizers. I will say the burrito was a little odd, maybe this is the traditional Cuban way to make a burrito but it wasn't what I expected. So we arrived in New Orleans too early to check into our Airbnb and needed to kill some time in the neighborhood. Luckily we were both pretty hungry, close to starving and LUCKILY Habana Outpost was right around the corner. Just to be clear the restaurant is super cute, there is indoor and outdoor door seating. The outdoor seating is more spacious and includes a very mini water park vibe for kids and a few carnival like games so I would definitely recommend for families. The service is also prompt. The food however is mediocre. I sampled the black beans and rice which were cooked nicely but were very bland. The chicken tacos were "okay", the chicken was bland and didn't really seem grilled/charred to me. Which could be a preference thing but the chicken reminded me of baked chicken breast chopped into squares, and it lacked flavor. Luckily the salsa, guacamole and loads of hot sauce compensated for the lack of flavor from the meat. Someone in my party got the steak which they enjoyed but that was honestly it. read more

We were here for the Banksy. Which is inside and unfortunately behind a chain link fence. We stayed for lunch and it was fine. The Cubano was a different version void of pickles and Chipotle mayo added. It was cool to try a unique version and it was good. The house made salsa was fresh but a little bland, I liked the Al Pastor taco a lot but the others i was with said their food was a bit boring too. Still a fan of the Habana Outpost but I'm not sure what happened to the frozen drinks lately... they are no longer of the high quality that I remember. I ordered a mojito and my husband ordered a pina colada. I had to throw mine out-- it tasted like an overly sweet limeade (no mint at all) and my husband did the same with his (I tasted it and it was undrinkable). It's a bummer because I always loved coming here to get a frozen drink to go. I'm keeping it at 4 stars because frozen drinks aren't everything and I'd certainly come back for the food and something else to drink. That patio is really fun when weather is permitting and the staff is so darn nice... can't fault them for premade frozen drinks. read more

Soooo we tried this place one evening a party of 3. Plz don't go there expecting ground beef. It's not on the menu at all. It was our 1st time there. The staff was friendly and patient with us. You place your order at the counter and then they bring it to your seat. We ordered the chips & queso (not the white queso), mexican street corn in the cup, steak tacos, steak quesadilla, and a kids chicken tenders. Honestly the kids menu need to have better options. The need a few more sauces for the tacos as well. The food was delicious! I didn't care for the corn bc street corn is a hit me from nobody. So plz don't take my advice on the corner. The frozen margaritas were really good. I wish those were apart of the happy hour price. Would I return yes! Also there a coffee shop outside of the restaurant. Inside & outside seat available. This is a very friendly place, very inviting with a huge covered patio. We saw their sign that said "kid and pet friendly" and we thought we would check it out. We had steak burritos, and a veggie burrito, and chips and queso. It was all very good! Im not sure if its mexican food, or mexican inspired food, or caribbean inspired? The name made me think it was cubano, but besides a cuban sandwich I didnt really see anything cuban. Whatever it is, its good! Everything was fresh and hot and delicious. The food was delicious . I had the roast pork taco which was marinated pork, which was a lot in the taco , came with cilantro , onions & homemade salsa verde on a soft corn tortilla. I also had the beer-battered catfish taco with pico de gallo, cilantro and homemade salsa verde was very good. We also tried the roast pork nachos which was also delicious. The only complaint was the initial ordering of the food took awhile. There was one person taking the orders and making the drinks like they definitely need two people in the front area. Thankfully the food did come out really fast. We actually waited in line longer to order food than to receive our food. Vibe was nice, drinks were good . Parking of course is hit or miss in front of the restaurant but not a surprise bc of where it's located. All in all we will be back. read more

OMG that a gem this restaurant is! After our original plan didn't work out we discovered this location. They offer vegan options which is a must for me. There's seating outside and inside, plenty of street parking nearby. Order at the counter and the workers were friendly. It was giving beach town vibes and it was definitely a different atmosphere. The vegan elote was delicious! First time trying it out at a location. The vegan taco was great, just thought the price was too high. The lemonade was sweet and sour and perfect! I'm not sure how authentic this place is but we absolutely loved our first time at Habana Outpost. We had been stalking this place for a while now and it definitely did not disappoint. The beautiful and relaxing aesthetic of this place makes you forget that you're in the states, transforming you to a Cuban paradise with its banana leaf trees, open windows, and vintage cars. The food was also really tasty from the chicken nachos to the frozen margaritas. No crazy flavors that left me awe-struck but the queso was probably some of the best queso I've had in Nola. I also really enjoyed the street corn covered in creamy mayo, tangy lime juice, and plentiful cotija cheese. I will definitely be back to take more pictures, eat more queso and mentally travel to another land.... P.S. The staff was also really sweet and helpful when explaining to us how to place an order and handle the self-serve system. read more

I needed dinner on the run, so I dropped into this place for the first time. I was exhausted so I took a seat at the bar, where I was served a frosty frozen mojito and the staff took my order of two al pastor pork tacos and queso. The food came out quickly. The chips were fresh and warm. The queso was rich and creamy. I'd have liked smaller chunks of pineapple in the salsa on the pork tacos. But, the seasoning was perfect and protein portion was filling. I'm intrigued by the "table-to-farm" concept and I want to go back to check out the place a little more. I'd been meaning to try this spot for a while, so when me and two friends found ourselves needing fuel before a Super Bowl weekend adventure in the Quarter, we pulled in, engines revving for shrimp and sips. Let's start with the atmosphere--it's adorable in the way that says, "Stay a while, we won't judge you for having three margaritas before noon." There are plenty of picnic tables outside, perfect for basking in the Louisiana sunshine. And the cherry on top? A play area for both kids and pets, complete with a water feature that squirts up from the ground. Who knew dining could feel like a day at the splash pad? The staff--one cheerful guy and a charming girl--were just as warm as the setting, ready to dish out recommendations like they'd personally tried everything on the menu (and maybe they had, lucky them). After some deliberation (and drooling), I went for the grilled shrimp nachos, and let me tell you--chef's k-- Nope, nope...not using that over used phrase. But you get the idea. They were phenomenal. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned, plump, and juicy, with that delicate "just kissed by the grill" texture. None of that rubbery nonsense here. They sat proudly atop a bed of freshly made tortilla chips, layered with gooey goodness and flavor bombs in every bite. And at $12, the price was more than reasonable. Honestly, they could've brought me a wheelbarrow of those nachos, and I'd still be scraping the bottom for crumbs. Now, about the spicy Mezcal margarita. You know I love a good Mezcal moment, and this one did not disappoint. Smoky, spicy, and packing a punch, it was everything I wanted and more. The Tajin-coated rim was the stuff of dreams, and yes, I shamelessly licked that rim clean. No judgment here, right? But for $12 at a counter-service spot, I'll admit it stung a little. Next time, I'm timing my visit for happy hour and doubling my pleasure with those buy one, get one free drinks--because that's a deal even my margarita-loving heart can't ignore. The happy hour, running M-F from 4 to 7 PM, offers buy one, get one free drinks--a deal so good it might as well come with a warning label. We came here for a late lunch/early dinner. Perfect spot for families. The food is sooo good and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. It's not fancy but it's a lot of fun. The patio is so comfortable and there are plenty of little things to keep the kids entertained, which makes dining here super easy and enjoyable. They even have a Banksy! Such a fun surprise. This place has never quite caught on; originally I was a fan but now it is not worth a visit . They recently changed their menu, and it appears what flavors they had on the menu are now totally gone. I ordered a chicken bowl , which consisted of a large bowl of bland rice, a few pieces of lettuce and pico, and grilled chicken on top that was fairly unseasoned. I ordered a side of guacamole and it also lacked any salt or cilantro; it almost tasted sour. I can say the chicken was freshly cooked and sliced up, similar to what you would get it going to Applebees. read more

I found this place online and decided it would be a great place to kick off the weekend in New Orleans, so post arrival we walked to get some lunch. It was a bit of a walk, but I was able to show my husband some highlights on the way. There is plenty of seating outside and it's really easy to order - except I felt like I was missing the full menu and wasn't sure where to view it. Either way, my husband got the cubano and I got a shrimp bowl and the vegan elote. I also ordered a pina colada, but what I got seemed like a blend of margarita / pina colada. At first I thought it was disgusting, but after a few sips it was delicious. There were a bunch of picnic tables in the shade, so we put our order buzzer down in the circle and enjoyed the nice weather. The food was delicious and it was a great first meal! read more

Always pass this place up on my way to work, and decided to try it out last night with my aunt. They have a really cool car out front and also have outdoor seating. We went around 7:00 on a Sunday so it wasn't packed. They may have had about 10 other people there. We decided to order the chicken taco, steak taco, and chicken nachos. I appreciate that they have a water station there in case you don't want to buy a drink. It didn't take long for our food to come out. Both tacos were filled with a lot of meat, which I appreciated. Nachos were really good too. Only have 2 complaints. One was that the food was more on the warm side than actually hot. Second, is that it was pretty dark in there and I couldn't really see what I was getting on my nachos. My aunt was trying to avoid the jalapeño peppers but she couldn't tell where they were because it was so dark. I did like that they had a few games that you could entertain yourself with while you waited like connect four. We also did the games that were on the tray liners when our food came out. Will definitely be back, but will probably go during the day so that I can sit outside. read more

1. The service here is just impeccable. Everyone is so friendly and great for chatting with. Whether it's the outside ordering station or being inside, it's always a pleasant experience. 2. The ambiance is so great for a New Orleans eatery. Inside feels like a lesson in NOLA culture, complete with the Bart Simpson style Banksy, and outside with the little splash pad and greenery surrounding the eating area makes you feel like you're in an oasis even though you're sitting on a crowded street corner. The two classic cars are also pretty cool, unless one starts up and then you suck down the fumes while seated outside. (true story, sit further from the entrance) 3. The food. I have not had a bad experience here and I don't expect that I will. Their queso is weirdly thick, almost velveeta like, but that has its own benefits, too. My absolute favorite are their tostones with this amazing dipping sauce they serve them with. I could eat those every night of the week! Overall, I'm in love and would happily come back here any chance I get. It doesn't feel like the typical New Orleans experience, but that's also part of its charm. I had a the chicken nachos, and they are very generous with the toppings! I also enjoyed a frozen mojito, which was very good. The street corn was awesome! I always scrape most of the mayo off, but that's just me. Full marks for the plantains- they were so good. We were looking for some dinner and we stumbled upon this establishment. I'm so grateful we found this restaurant because everything was well prepared and delicious. The customer service was pleasant and fast. The cashier allowed me to sample the frozen cocktails so I would know how they tasted before I made a decision on what drink to have. My favorite was the Frozen Mojito. I also ordered the grilled Street corn, tostones and marinated roasted pork bowl. I enjoyed my entire meal. The restaurant had nice scenery and music was playing. It was not loud and the atmosphere was nice. Everything tasted so good and my drink was refreshing. I will have to visit the other location in NY soon. What a great experience! Perfect for after our granddaughter's soccer game! On a hot New Orleans afternoon the restaurant has a tropical coolness surrounded by large lush green plants and fans. Sipping on frozen margaritas and refreshing sangria it is hard to separate yourself from thinking you are not on a tropical island. The Cuban sandwich, tostones and tacos were delicious accompanied by corn on the cob that was a meal in itself! All this while we watched our granddaughter dance on the splash pad, hula hoop and just have fun without a bother to anyone.
