idk, i just wasn't all that pleased. My little cousin saw someone review this place on tiktok and asked that i go try it out for her since she doesn't live in the area. So, I tried them on my lunch break. The place is walking distance from my job so for me parking is fine but there's street parking and a paid parking lot near by. The inside is nice, bright, and inviting. The guy taking my order was nice and gave a small complimentary chip and salsa as i waited. I ordered the al pastor taco although I would've preferred a chicken option as I'm not a big pastor fan. I gave it a try anyway and wasn't very please with the overall flavor profile. This was an awful taco experience. The dishes did come out fast, but they were lacking in flavor. We ordered the chicken taco, el pastor, the completo and the volcano taco with margaritas and horchata. The el pastor was bland without sauce and the onions and cilantro were just thrown onto the plate and not garnished. The pineapple was not cut either. The chicken taco was also bland even with a green sauce. The worst was the completo. The fries were soggy because of the enchilada sauce and the black beans were salty. The elote was not great either. The saving grace was the volcano which has nice textures and some flavors with the additional of salsa. But for one volcano was $10. This place is a new opening in my neighborhood, literally around the corner from my house, and when they were constructing it, everyone in the neighborhood was really excited to have a new restaurant option walking distance from our house. They went all out for their decor, everything is bright orange and new, they have a disco ball on the wall... Lol they play Spanish music throughout the restaurant, the issue with this place that myself, my husband and the neighbors that tried this place is that it is overpriced for what you get. Aside from the frozen margaritas which are delicious and strong and reasonable price wise, the tacos themselves are literally just meat and tortilla. And the tortilla is not even that big. You can get two chicken tacos for $7 and the other specialty meats are more expensive. But everyone that goes here says that the price is not worth and what it served. The staff are pleasant and nice, but the food portion is not worth the charge. I do like they they are open late so you can get a quick literal "bite" if you just want something quick and light on a late night run. The food was passable but was honestly worth a quarter of what they charged. Way past what can be considered inflation. The food we got - a few tiny tacos they didn't even double up the tortilla on ($40+) and a couple sodas ($11+) should have been about 15-20 bucks (here in a US city) or about half that down in méxico.. It's a shame because the al pastor was good. But these guys are laughing all the way to the bank taking the gringos money. For now. EDIT: forgot to mention. This is also one of those self serve establishments that seemingly hold your order ransom by asking you to tip (at the 18, 20, or 22 percent level) PRIOR to receiving your order. We're so glad we discovered this spot. Finally, a taquería in NOLA that tastes just like Mexico City! As chilangos, we recognize authentic flavors, and this place instantly reminded us of home. I soo wanted to like this place as a local hoping for real CDMX tacos. Unfortunately, this place fell short on quality of meat and flavor. The tacos al pastor were ok but did not have the juiciness and fat they require to have that real mexican essence. The "ribeye" and the sirloin was cut paper thin like a philly cheesesteak cut not a chunky chop like in MX. I couldn't taste the meat. This was clearly done to reduce costs and save on beef costs. The seasoning is also way off. This place may fool drunk tourists but not locals who know good food and are well- traveled. I will give credit for the decor and the wide variety of salsa options. There is one cashier and one cook. They are clearly not enthusiastic about being there. No customers. Not worth the parking fees or your time. Sadly, I don't see this place making it. If they want to stay open, they're going to have to take notes from Restaurants Tacos No.1 in NY which has same concept but superior on all levels. Also, why would you have a taco restaurant next to Johhny Sanchez another taco/ "mexican" restaurant that has happy hours?!
