The staff is awesome. Very caring. I would highly recommend the Barranco Clinic. I've had several appointments to get my allergies under control. And I've been pleased every time. Compared to most drs offices. My appointments have been prompt. Not waiting as long as most places. The staff has always been friendly and professional. I'm shocked by some of the reviews on here. Go look at the Google reviews. I'm thankful I did. They have a 5 star rating! And I've never experienced any negativity with my doctor or their staff. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. This was one of the most frustrating healthcare experiences I've ever had. There is a major disconnect between the front desk, reception staff, and the third-party scheduling company they use. It became painfully obvious that nobody knows what the other is doing. I wasted nearly three weeks trying to get an appointment finalized, only to be given incorrect information repeatedly. At one point, I was actually told to obtain a referral directly from my insurance company--which is not even how referrals work. Anyone working in healthcare should know that referrals come from the referring physician, not the insurance carrier. After countless phone calls, follow-ups, and wasted time, I found out the day before my appointment that the doctor I had been scheduled with wasn't even accepted by my insurance plan. How does something that basic not get verified before scheduling a patient? The entire process was a complete mess from start to finish. Poor communication, lack of knowledge, lack of accountability, and zero regard for the patient's time. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They need a complete overhaul of their scheduling process, front desk operations, and third-party booking service. Patients deserve better than this kind of incompetence. Pure shit show. read more

This office and staff are very incompetent. No one knows what is going on they don't answer the phone they don't call back and don't answer messages. I have literally just been trying to give them money for the past 4 months and they won't call me or return my calls. DO NOT GO TO BARRANCO CLINIC THEY ARE UNETHICAL AT THE VERY LEAST IF NOT FRAUDULENT! Barranco & Dr. Merritt are billing for unnecessary procedures and do not respond to my complaint. They are now harassing me to pay for a procedure that should have never been done. Dr. Merritt. performed an office procedure that was unnecessary, because despite knowing exactly what I needed (because I told him based on my experience over the last 25 year, I knew what I needed), Dr. Merritt, knowing that neither he nor Barranco Clinic could provide the treatment I needed for my condition, performed an in office preliminary procedure for no sound reason other than to bill me and my insurance company for the procedure. After I explained in great detail how I had, had a specific surgery done some 15 time over the last 25 years, and he knew that neither he nor Barranco clinic could follow through and perform the surgery I would need, he still performed a scope of my throat. He knew that the only reason to scope my throat was to confirm the status of the papeloma on my vocal cords as a preliminary to having them surgically removed. He knew also, based on what I had just told him, that I HATED, the procedure of sticking a scope up my nose and down my throat. Yet, with no way to follow through with the necessary treatment (surgery with a laser) and knowing I HATED the scope procedure he performed the scope anyway. There is only one reason to have performed the procedure and that is to bill my insurer and me. It was not called for. It was not medically necessary unless he would be moving forward with the surgery and it was not in my best interest. I discussed what I needed with the Baranco Clinic prior to even making the appointment. Not only with Baranco Clinic but with other ENT offices in Polk County. I discussed my specific concerns and needs with Dr. Merritt face to face before he performed the scope of my throat. I explained to him exactly what type of papeloma I had, exactly where the papeloma would be found on my vocal cords and that I would need them removed with a laser. When he had shoved the scope up my nose and down my throat and pulled it out he said yes, you have papeloma exactly where you said they would be and they are the size of the end of his finger. Then after confirming exactly what I had described to him he smiled and stated that unfortunately he nor Baranco Clinic could perform the surgery. He divulged this only after performing the scope of my throat. Had he provided that information prior to performing the scope procedure I would have been disappointed that I had wasted my time (he was more than an hour and 20 minutes late for the appointment), but I would certainly not have gone forward with having the scope procedure done as I HATE it! But Dr. Merritt did not divulge the fact that he could not follow through with the surgery I would need until after he had scoped my throat. Unlike the other ENT offices Baranco Clinic did not bother to listen to my detailed explanation of what I needed, and / or did not bother to determine if they could even offer the surgery that I knew I was going to need. When I questioned why they took the appointment the office manager Michell Shapiro said that the people who answer the phones are not trained medical staff and they did not know what I was talking about. That is no excuse! I did know what I was talking about and I explained it very clearly. If this was a genuine mistake then Barranco should apologize and reverse the charges to me and to my insurer. They should remove any amounts owed on my account to reflect a $0.00 balance on my account. They should further provide a letter and account balance notice indicating my balance is $0.00. They should provide and letter indicating that they will not report any negative information to any credit bureau, or collection agency. I have called the Baranco Clinic several times to discuss the issues associated with this matter. I have explained the details above with Michell Shapiro, the office manager, and she apparently now does not accept my calls, and does not return my calls. I am now being harassed by their collection agency. I attempted to speak with the office manager again today, but I was sent to her voice mail, by the receptionist. I called back and was told the office manager was not in (as I recall "not in" this entire week) so a lot of good it did for me to leave a message for the office manager, who does not return my calls anyway. I did manage to get the second in command on the phone and unfortunately did not get that person's name. After explaining the entire story (at great length) to this person they said they would contact the collection folks and explain what was going on and then disconnected the call not allowing me to understand what that means. I don't know if that means they will remove the charges from my account, or harass me more! read more

I was referred to this place by my primary so I can get my eardrum drain because medicine wouldn't do it. Referrals were sent to them & after calling for 3 weeks to see if the got my referrals in to be able to schedule an app, I finally get a hold of a lady lying to me saying that they have called me several times to schedule an app. I ask what codes they will be using for the visit and will be a 1st visit code which is expensive but I dont mind. What I mind is that they wouldn't tell me what code it's used for eardrum drainage so I can check w/my insurance how much would be my portion to pay. I was told that they wouldn't know if that procedure will be needed until the Dr. sees me "which I understand" but yet, they tell me 1st visit is for the Dr. to know me, check my ear, & prescribe me medication "which I told them I was in medication already & that's why my primary sent me there", to make another app to check ear again & see if eardrum drainage is needed & probably that's when they'll tell me what code will be use for this procedure, to then most likely set another app to get this done in office. So 1st time visit it cost me about $196 2nd app will be $97 3rd app another $97 plus whatever will cost the eardrum drainage procedure. read more

I'm very concerned my General Practitioner referred me to this Office. I have tried calling several times & never got through. They called and left a message for me to make an appointment for allergy testing and I couldn't even get an appointment, let alone, a person on the line. As soon as I called, the phone queue gave me 9th caller in the queue. I waited a very long time to finally get through; however, it kept saying I was the 9th caller in queue. I don't know how they keep appointments or how they even get anything done there. It's crazy. I will try to get another appointment before I go back to my Family Doctor & ask for another referral. Dr.Bradfield is great. Two stars, because the service is really really awful. Several times after calling to schedule appointment for my allergy shots, which then never happened after a WHOLE MONTH of attempts. Calls were never answered and when they did I was transferred over to allergy section, which always happened to be closed..... Later I visit my primary doctor to receive a referral to visit Mr Bradfield regarding my Nasal Polyps returning, but nope.... not one time has anyone yet to call me or yet to answer the phone at the office. Dr. Lyle was rude, impatient, and spoke to us as if we were wasting his time. He caused my fiance to leave because he was so nasty to us! He wouldn't even talk to me to try and rectify the situation. Almost three hours waiting to see the doctor -- then I was charged $200 for ear cleaning and exam -- WOW!! Went in for constant dizziness ie Vertigo symptoms for the last two weeks and told they couldn't do anything -- spent maybe 15 minutes with Dr Merritt -- good for me -- NOT !! Waste of time and money -- will never return -- now I understand why my daughter declined to work in this office -- complete disarray!! Save yourself from a heart attack and just don't go to ANY of their facilities. They are rude, unprofessional and money oriented. If you do decide to go, know that they have an "open check" consent form - they indicate that no more consents will be required for any other procedures. With this form you allow them to do and charge whatever they want. They disguise it by similar words like "to provide you with the best care"... As to my story, I never got to sign on that form nor did I see it initially. 3 months after visiting the Haines City clinic for an initial visit, I was asked to pay more than $200 for an endoscopy. I was baffled because I didn't even know I had an endoscopy. Later I learned, from a rep. in the billing department (?!), that the device he used to check my nose is for an endoscopy - I thought it's just one of the standard tools - just like when a Dr. uses a blood pressure device, ear otoscope etc. I contacted their billing department and from there everything got even worse. After speaking to Trish, I was told to contact the Office Manager Cinda. I called, left her a message and also faxed a letter asking to clarify and cancel the extra charge. After not hearing from her I called again and asked to speak to the Office Manager. I was transferred and asked if I'm speaking to the office manager and if she got my letter and she confirmed. Then I explained my situation and the error they made - she was rude and kept saying "we did nothing wrong, all of our staff was perfect, we don't make any mistakes... there are consent forms hang up on the wall in our clinic..." then she hang up on me... to clarify, it's not a line disconnection she clearly said "I'm going to hang up now, there is nothing else to talk about" and I asked her not to but she still did. Two weeks later, a lot of phone calls and a visit to the clinic in between, I learned that the whoever I spoke to was not the office manager, but the Billing Department manager(?) her name was Lisa. Cinda, the real office manager didn't hang up the phone however she was very hard to work with, explaining my case and situation. Also, never called me back when she said she will (twice). The staff in the main office is very rude and they just kept giving me the roundabout - it felt like they forget they are treating people and not cattle; from hangups to transfers to unknown extensions to "I don't know..." and never calling back etc. I did ask to speak to the Dr. but was refused. The ONLY nice person that was attentive and caring in regards to this issue was Tracy from the Haines City office. I don't know if it's because I also contacted Florida Health Department as well as Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services but it was finally resolved by waiving the fee as a "courtesy". The irony of things is that the last confirmation for finalizing this ordeal was a phone call from Lisa - the same person who told me they never make mistakes, hang up the phone on me and that there is nothing to do and that I will have to pay it no matter what. read more

If I could give this office zero Stars I would. To start off my son has severe allergies I waited 1 month to get an appointment. He's two years old after waiting a month the receptionist collected the wrong copay, I waited an hour for my appointment then got back to the room and the doctor came in. He never once looked at my son or touched him. I was told that he could not see him due to his age and that you would have to be sent out to a specialist at Nemours or St Josephs. Now they are trying to collect the 2nd part of the copay their receptionist failed to collect... mind you this is $20. The Dr. Said it is due and to be paid, even though he never examined him. Even though they could have told me a month prior that they couldn't see him due to his age! Even though the he said hr couldn't answer my questions, even though this further delayed my sons treatment. They are not concerned about their ill practices or patient care, they are threatening me over $20. read more

The doctor did not even really want to help me because I did not want to pay to have a hearing test when my hearing is not affected and was not the reason that I was there. They didn't really care, kind of treated me like a dumb kid, I'm 30. Told me that I had an outer ear infection and didn't give me anything, two days later I went to the ER bc my ear pressure was so bad, turns out I have a pretty bad sinus infection. I don't recommend this place. read more
