The first session was free, so it was a good way to get introduced to the place and the people there. So let's start there. I almost had enough time to say hello to the receptionist when she recognized that I was a new face, smiled, and introduced herself to me. She offered a tour to me, which was friendly, but I was surprised that another attendee offered to take me on a tour herself! It was clear to me then that the friendliness was contagious. I really appreciate that the equipment is available at no cost. Having the mats, the blocks, the bands, and even blankets there meant that I could participate at the same level that more experienced yogis could. This first session, I rolled out in the back as Jade started speaking. The whole experience was wonderful, but something she said stood out to me: when someone's phone rang and they apologized, Jade responded with a smile and said "Don't be sorry. This just means someone's thinking of you." And then I knew that the community was eager to share their wisdom and peace with others. On the community board (which highlights members, friends, and local services) I saw that the first month was available for a reduced price, and after such a wonderful first experience, I knew I was going to sign up. I'm almost done with this month and have practiced under different instructors but have found them all incredibly welcoming. I also appreciate the ability to participate from home, which I've done on several occasions, and an equal level of engagement from the instructor. I've also taken rise and rest yoga with Lenore. This was a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. I recently competed a yoga strength class with Amy. This was an all-level class and she offered us options to modify or intensify each move. Amy played a nice mix of songs from her phone during the class; however, the music kept being interrupted by notification dings, which was distracting. Overall, I found Grace Studio to be a decent place for a yoga workout. The studio is equipped with mats, weights, blocks, resistance bands, and bolsters. Instructors offer verbal assists rather than hands-on adjustments for yoga moves. Instructors are welcoming, the studio is bright and inviting, and classes are not crowded.

CP charged me over $200 in a month even though I only ever took 2 classes ($35 each). They just kept charging my card. I emailed the silver spring location and the corporate office multiple times but they refused to refund the extra charges and even added a "late fee"!! They either didn't respond at all or would dismiss me and try to justify the charges (why would any business justify charging a customer$200 for a $35 single class???) I've never in my life witnessed a business turn away new customers like this. Horrible customer service and I'm still filing didoes with my credit card company.

I said "nope, I'm actually looking to learn about Pilates," but it was such a turn off that I turned and left. I assure you, lady, I can read the sign. And your judgments about who you think and perceive to be a potential customer was very disrespectful. It says a lot about the biases and prejudices you don't mask very well. Good luck!

A well-rounded practice and not over-crowded with attendees. They have a wide variety of class options (yin, Hatha, kundalini, pre-natal) as well as multi-week workshops and events. They offer classes both in person and live online. For a little studio they have a lot to offer! It's not the cheapest yoga spot in DC, and there are only about 5 classes per day, but it's been a great experience so far. For the last 10 years I have been studying my own psychology and using Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to overcome the narcissistic abuse from my childhood home. Although understanding my circumstances has helped me overcome a lot, the growth that I have come into since joining this studio does not compare. Over the last 3 months I have stopped coping with my pain with the use of Marijuana. Through the intentional movement, breath work, and meditation on a regular basis I am now able to see my own projections and even those of others which has allowed to engage with the relationships in my life differently, more productively. I have also stopped disassociating in intimacy something I did not realize I was doing from being a victim of sexual assault and rape. This place has taught me how to come back to my body and be present in my life without bringing my past back into my present. I cannot say enough of how eternally grateful I am for this place that has become a community of support and guidance. Thank you to all the instructors who brought light back into my life. Even my trajectory of my current career path is changing. I have nothing against barre. The workouts in and of themselves are fun and challenging. However,…read morebefore taking classes or entering a membership at this Pure Barre, I'd like to warn you all against a few things. 1) I signed up for a 3 month commitment membership, which came with a set of extra classes. What I was not told, however, was that the extra classes expired after 30 days. Luckily, the studio manager gifted those extra classes back to me - all the same, it would've been nice to know ahead of time. Second of all, I was not made aware that there was a 30 day cancellation notification requirement. So, despite the fact I cancelled 28 DAYS in advance, I was still charged $99 for a membership the next month that I have no intention of using. Please be aware of both of these policies. In my time as a fitness instructor, I've never seen studio so clearly exploitative. 2) While the instructors are nice, many of them give the impression that they don't want to be there. Again, from a fitness instructor perspective, the energy that the instructors bring to class is critical, and when I can tell an instructor doesn't want to be there, it can make the class substantially less enjoyable. If you're considering barre, I'd honestly encourage you to try a different studio than Pure Barre.

They advertise "no commitment - Cancellation will be effective at the end of the current period for which you have paid" and make it seem like you can cancel anytime--this is NOT true. Once you sign up, you find out there is actually a 30-day cancellation period, which is nowhere clearly stated during sign-up. This is blatant false advertising and completely dishonest. When I reached out to cancel, I was told I had to continue paying for another full month, even though I no longer wanted the service. It feels like a scam designed to trap people into paying more. I expected better from a fitness brand that claims to empower people. Instead, I felt tricked and taken advantage of. If you value honesty and transparency, do yourself a favor and avoid this location.
