Stopped by with my son today for a late lunch. He ordered steak tips. I had tacos. Waitress = two stars. Had to ask specifically for everything and it wasn't busy. Food = two stars. My son took his steak home, so I can't rate that. I had a bowl of pretty boring chili. With MASHED beans--not whole. Very bland and no spice. I had to put that awful Frank's hot sauce on it to spice it up. The tacos weren't much better. A FULL plate is only $4.00 as the daily special however. A large plate with two over-stuffed tacos, a mess of chips and a ramekin of salsa. Actually, enough to consider a meal for only $4.00. The issue was that they were flavourless. Much better than the kiddie place it replaced. Cleaned up, brighter colors and lots of big TVs playing college football. Live music, and a big arse bar. Plenty of parking and still kid friendly. A good menu and slightly different than the Abington Ale House which is owned by the same folks. Went in on a Saturday at 5:00 while there were a ton of cars and trucks parked there, we had no wait. Ordered some apps: chicken wings and nachos; both were great. Then had the clam chowder, also rocked. Dinner I had the chicken noodle bowl which was very good. I'll be going back. It's ok. Close to my parents house. Decent beer list. Monday burger specials had good flavor and ingredients but lose points for not asking or allowing for preferred temp/doneness. Fries are average, could use a little seasoning and less time in fryer. Steak & cheese was pretty bad. Bummer for me wanting a good sub before flying home. Overcooked steak was piled on sub roll that had barely melted cheese already on the roll. Businesses take note: this is not a "steak & cheese." This was an overcooked steak sandwich with some cheese slices. Proper technique for these sub sandwiches involve griddling cheese and meat together. The resulting steak should be all white. Pretty sure someone from Philly would give this a 1 star. And there you can choose American or whiz and both are great. Kid meal was a ripoff at $9. Box of Kraft shows no effort. Even our little one didn't wanna eat it. At least she got an ice cream sandwich. So many better options in the area. read more

This is the second time I've been here.. and this is the second terrible review. After the first time I swore to never come again, but the group of friends I was with tonight decided this was where we dinning. After telling them how awful my first experience was here, they still said we should give it another chance. We were seated, got our drink order taken and appetizer order taken. Half an hour later we got our apps from another server our waitress nowhere to be found. 30 min into eating or apps we have no napkins or silverware. At this point we have to get up and walk around to find someone to get us place settings. We find a manager and tell him why tonight's dinner had been subpar. Sat at the bar with a friend. Ordered drinks and slid the menus toward the edge of the bar to signal that we were ready to order, waited about 20 minutes to even get the bartenders attention. They all kept walking by us without making eye contact. After finally ordering, we waited about 45min for the food. We never received silverware and when we asked for some, we never got any. We had to ask a random worker who apologized and got us silverware. By the time that happened, our food was cold! Bartender waited over an hour to ask if we need refills on our drinks. I ate at Barrett`s on 3/5/17 around 7 p.m. and was shocked at how far downhill the restaurant has gone. I went on that particular day because it was my partner`s birthday and they used to treat you to a free meal on your birthday but that perk AND the food quality are a thing of the past. My partner and I waited 15 minutes standing in the lobby with no seating, no bench, no nothing. When the hostess brought us to our high-top we passed 2 open tables. The table we were sat at was not set-up with silverware. The stale/over salted popcorn was served in a non sterilizable/un-lined wicker basket. The salad dressing was served in an un-covered plastic soufflé cup and was quite firm, as though it was sitting un-covered in a walk-in refrigerator for some time. The hamburger was flavorless and crumbling with no texture. The waitress never came to the table after the food was delivered. I requested a refund of 32.10 in writing TWICE to management and their website but the request fell on deaf ears ... THEY JUST DID`NT CARE. Nope. This was our 2nd visit. Food was NOT GOOD. "Fresh" fish tacos smelled & tasted fishy. Last time we went the kids Mac & Cheese was real homemade mac n cheese, this time it was Kraft. Gross. Had to ask for the kids meals to be removed from the receipt bc they should have been free with adult meal purchase. Took 10 min to get that fixed bc the managers were too busy in a "meeting". I ordered my burger medium with pastrami and Swiss, and it was well done and I had to lift the bun to verify that they had indeed put pastrami and Swiss (for $2.50 extra). Although this place certainly has the "townie" feel to it, the staff is great and the food has the typical sports bar comfort-food feel to it. With a large dining room, two large bars, and even an outside patio with sand, picnic tables, and adirondack chairs, it's no surprise they do a great college business with BSU nearby. Despite the sports bar feel, kids and families are welcome and encouraged. I came here one exceptionally warm October afternoon with my fiance and his grandparents. We were allowed to pick our own seats, and our server was quick and friendly. All in all, it's not a bad place to grab your friends and meet over drinks and appetizers. The food is nothing that will knock your socks off. The portions are rather large and the prices are reasonable. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, and pizzas. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because they don't make their own salad dressing in-house (it's really not that hard!) and pieces of lettuce in my salad were already turning brown. Although not directly related to the restaurant and it's food and staff, I do have to bring to someone's attention (whether it be through Yelp or management), their website is a complete disaster. To be honest I was a little hesitant to go here because it seemed like a locals place, and I was afraid that it would be an uncomfortable atmosphere. But in all reality, it's an extremely friendly and inviting restaurant. It's split into two sections. When you walk in to the right is a large bar with an outdoor patio area, as well as some tables. It looks like a lot of fun, and a nice place to be during the summer. The other half of the restaurant is consumed also by a large bar, with a dining section towards the back. It's your typical bar with keno, song machines, etc. The service was very friendly, and the food was excellent. Everyone loved what they got, and the servings were more than generous. I would define their menu as typical American comfort food, but done well. We will definitely be back. HINT: I would definitely recommend signing up for their loyalty card. You get $5 just for registering it, and another $5 on your birthday. And after you spend $100 you get $10 back. read more

I was there on Saturday with a group of 7 people. The appetizers were very good, we had buffalo chicken dip, mozzarella sticks and chowder. Most everyone ordered different entrees and all were very satisfied with their choices. The server was very attentive and pleasant. Old Castaways/North Key West location has be reincarnated into a Barrett Ale House similar to the other Barrett Ales House which are basically 99s without the corporate chain feel. Decent pub grub, friendly sports bar atmosphere where kids/families are welcome. Had a work get together here Sat night and everyone had a good time. Stopped here on our way to Ferry. This is the coolest spot! Huge, clean, nice, new restaurant with amazing ambiance; fireplace, wrap around booths, TVs galore, and the most amazing arcade! Were from the shore in NJ, and that arcade surpasses what we see on the boardwalk! I'd def go back. read more

Unfortunately Barrett's has left a taste in my mouth that no Listerine could ever rinse away. Food is pretty good for a pub but the drinks are a bit over priced The reason for this poor review comes down to one key component of any establishment; their SERVICE is an abomination. Waitstaff and bartenders are mediocre at best but my biggest complaint is with the bouncers and security. While it is their responsibility to ensure their patrons are not over served, they take and abuse their power to an unprofessional and borderline criminal extent. Bouncers lurk like walkers on the walking dead, seeking any man with a look unfitting with their ideal white well-dressed patron. Each bouncer flys like a hawk looking for its prey. A dear friend of mine was sitting speaking to a nice young woman and was physically removed for showing signs of over intoxication. When he asked for clarification the bouncer claimed that he saw him stumble? Hard to stumble when you're sitting still in an adirondack chair...there are countless other examples of similar stories. Bouncers all smoke and often blow smoke in the face of its customers. Very unprofessional smoke your cancer sticks by the dumpster in the back not directly next to the door. The final straw for me came on a cold January night. Approximately 20 degrees out the bouncer put his hands on me and my girlfriend and removed me from the building because he felt she should wait outside in the tundra with no coat for the Uber to come. After a few rude commands we reluctantly exited the lobby where the bouncer remained. As my girlfriend trembled outside in the cold, the bouncer joined outside. After surveying over us for approximately 30 seconds the bouncer went inside and returned seconds later with a jacket. He forced my girlfriend out into the "bearable" temperatures but crawled inside to grab his own jacket. I WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK read more

The bar area inside is pretty clean and nice if you go and watch a game. The bar area outside is really nice with the fireplace and sand area makes it feel like a beach bar. The reason I give it 3 stars is because the food is gross. You can clearly tell they don't use any fresh ingredients. I mean like 0 fresh ingredients. Chicken was pre processed I think if that's even possible, Guacamole was also pre processed like from a pouch and was bland. The quesadilla tasted like it was soaked in water. The veggies were also gross. I don't think it's to cut their food cost I think it's more of a time thing. Huge mistake because food is nasty. Still like to hang there because the bar is and atmosphere is pretty good on the day I go there. But, I will never eat there again. read more

I got the salmon with crispy goat cheese, but asked for the mushroom risotto instead of the asparagus risotto that was supposed to come with it. The salmon was really well-prepared, the goat cheese was crispy as described, but the risotto was just super-buttery rice. I was so excited for risotto and really disappointed that it didn't deliver -- but if it had been labeled "mushroomy rice," I'd have been 100% satisfied. Also, the kitchen was very backed up so our meal arrived 30-40 minutes after we ordered it. It was a Friday night so I understand being busy, this is just a warning. I've ordered here several times in the past year. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt during the pandemic, but every take-out order seems to get worse. The order takes an extra hour to be ready, the food is packaged upside down, the portions are half the size they were, there are chicken pieces added to a meatless meal, calamari added to a meatless dish, or the fried cauliflower is soaking in so much hot sauce that the breading falls off completely. They haven't NOT messed up an order. We've called about the problems and gotten apologies and the promise of a refund via mailed gift card that never arrived. Not trying it again. read more

This is a great place to go and watch the game as the bar area is large with a flatscreen TV posted on every wall where there is space. The menu is a little cumbersome to focus on because of how busy it is, but the waitstaff was nice and was able to help us out with our orders. One of the many choices offered on the menu is in the selection of sides for sandwiches - while they have the basic fries, they also have tater tots, sweet potato fries, and waffle fries. This choice was probably the hardest choice of the day. I also like that they have 2 sizes of beer glasses. While it's not fine dining, it's a perfect place for a burger and the game. read more

Barrett's is the best! This location has an amazing back patio space that is so nice in the warm weather. We recently moved to Bridgewater and Barrett's is the #1 restaurant we frequent. The Irish nachos were the only good part of the meal. I Had the "Spicy Ground Beef" Back Alley Taco. There was nothing spicy about it. Bland, tasteless beef. No seasonings or spices. It didn't come with salsa or anything. The coleslaw was okay. Service was mediocre at best. I'll stick with the Abington location. read more
