    Abbey's Awesome Fish Tacos
    Andrea R.

Out of owners on our way to Newport, RI & we found this gem not far off the expressway. Must be a local favorite because at barely 11:45 am on a Thursday this place was filling up fast! Bring a big appetite, the servings are big! Our server Heidi was very friendly & polite. Thanks for a great lunch! My husband said "The Big Fish Sandwich" was the best fish he's ever eaten. My daughter demolished the "Big Papi" & my son loved "Abbey's Fish Tacos". I'll say that the fish tacos had real looking fish that were good size pieces, I was amazed. I had the side Greek salad which was plenty for me.

As always, a fine meal accompanied by courteous service by Lisa M. A full fillet spilling out of the bun onto your plate. Perfectly crisp and tasty. The summer mac salad was very refreshing in spite of being made from mostly pasta. My date enjoyed his meal of grilled salmon. Will always stop back. :)

Not the greatest, actually, nothing to write home about. The food is barely average and the atmosphere is nothing special. Service is okay though we had to wait for drinks considerably longer than normal.

Went with the parents and my son a few weeks ago (Parents live close by) Its got that local vibe atmosphere and many people would walk in & know each other. Super Casual, keno, Full bar. Food is what you would expect at a local tavern, Fried, burgers, salads, things like that - menu had tons of stuff. Got the Steak & Cheese quesadillas and they were good, just too much steak (I know Im complaining, too much meat that makes no sense right)? Well Quesadillas arent supposed to be stuffed like a sub, just my opinion. Chili and chicken Im told were good, drinks were ok.

Meatball parm sandwich is 'meh'. Crinkle fries are good when hot.

The ambiance here is comfortable. Our waitress was VERY good. The food was not very good. They do have a lot of beers on tap. That about sums it up. If you want more: The meatball sub kept 'repeating' itself. The warm fish taco had a bed of cold, bagged, shredded cheese in the bottom of the flour tortilla. That came off immediately. What should happen is as you warm the tortilla, throw the cheese on there to warm that up as well. It's not at all spicy to my taste. A bit sweet. Place was packed when we arrived and had a line when we left so definitely a popular location. We were asked if a 'high top' in the bar was OK, or did we want to wait for a booth. As the bar is right inside the door I'm not sure how large the dining room is. The decor is nautical miscellany and dark wood. The background music was a mix or 'oh that's nice' and 'omg, who plays this song anymore?' Our waitress really is very good. The second beer ordered, same as the first, came looking cloudy. Tasted the same, but definitely not the same appearance. The waitress, after leaving it for us, came back to check and noticed it looked cloudy. She took it away and got another. She was friendly and attentive through out our visit. Rest rooms are just inside the entrance, off the bar area. The stall door closure did not 'meet up' with their other half so the door did not lock. The door is a snug fit with the casing so you can just wedge the door in place and it won't swing open. Appears to be plenty of parking in the lot out front.

Try the French Onion Soup, which is not bad; however, once it was very good, once it was cold in the center (microwave?), and three times it was warm. Had the sushi once, not bad but the roll was not terribly big or robust. Skinny. I've had the Caesar Salad which is pretty good; the best thing I've had there. The Cobb Salad is good but very small - more like a side salad. Prices are reasonable. The parking is fine. Staff is good. The place is God-awful loud with TVs blasting sports and speakers blasting music. Not my cuppa, but they do a good Caesar. 3.5 Stars.

Not having been to Doyles in ages I said let's give it a shot. We are equal distance to Brockton and Easton but decided S Easton We called and was told about 30 minutes which was perfect. It was a good call! Timed it well, piping hot and the meals traveled well back home Thats a big deal with take out in my opinion. Many times, we have eaten in at a restaurant and been happy but on the takeout or delivery it's not the same. In this case the Rueban marble toast was still warm and crispy on top, bottom piece a bit soggy but to be expected. The sandwich was enormous. I could only eat half the and only half my sweet potato fries. The fries were a bit soggy but still great. The cole slaw was great. In fact, I just reheated it the leftover, in the oven of course, for lunch and it was perfect. Made the fries crunchy. Other orders were lobster roll very expensive but delicious. Hey, whatever princess wants lol and my buddy got the fried stripped clam plate, and said it was good. Ordering out is always a big deal with the economy and rising food prices everyone needs to spend wisely. Doyles isn't cheap but it is fair, and we were happy with our choices, and everyone agrees its now on the short list of solid places.

Beer options on tap were of a wide variety, with us trying both sours. The fresh tart was overpowered by the Meyers lemon with none of the guava profile pulling through. The Morse was a fairly crushable cranberry "sour" that was well balanced if you needed to finish quickly as we did. Service was good with table service for the beer and food.
