Ordered takeout over the holiday weekend and expected a much longer wait time, but our food was ready fairly quickly! There's plenty of seating outside if you plan to order in as well. I've been here twice, once tonight & once last summer and can confidently say it is one of the best ice creams I've had especially as a vegan. It's so thick, it's the perfect consistency for me. Last year I got the vanilla with oreo crumbles and this year I got chocolate chip with oreo crumbles & both times it's been perfect. The employees are friendly but honestly I wouldn't care if they sucked because the vegan ice cream is so damn good. Not a whole lot of indoor seating mostly takeout or outdoor seating but overall still a good vibe. My only gripe is 8 bucks for a small vegan ice cream is so pricey but it's so good so I'd still get it. read more

Stopped by here after a recommendation from a friend. My fiancé had the southern style fried chicken sandwich. I had a Cobb salad and we shared a side of mac and cheese. We also got an Oreo milkshake and shake of the month (choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream with caramel and brownie bits). Food and milkshakes were great, really hit the spot. It's really such a shame when a place has customer service so horrific that I need to leave a review. I was really looking forward to this summer for when Barrier Island Burgers would reopen. I remember getting THE BEST fried chicken sandwich here last year. I was sad when I thought they were permanently closed this winter, and super excited that they are open for business this summer. Yesterday I can in and asked for a Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich, no ranch, add mayo, lettuce and tomato. To go. And then a couple minutes later I decided to add on the Cajun dusted sweet potato fries with vanilla bourbon sauce. What I did mind was the black (burnt) outside of my fried chicken sandwich. Which when I asked the staff about, they said I promise it's not burnt. Later when I went to eat it, I realized they forgot the coleslaw and pickles and there was barely any mayo. For the sweet potato fries, you can tell they were undercooked on the inside. I think they forgot the Cajun seasoning too because they didn't have any taste. But the vanilla bourbon dipping sauce was awesome. I just wish the fries were cooked. read more

Also nice selection of chicken, fish and the impossible sandwiches. We tried the Mos burger with blue Cheese (you chose the cheese you want) with mushrooms and grilled onions. A total belly bomb, but so good! Also had the Nashville hot chicken. The breading on the chicken was outstanding, but the chicken itself had a weird texture, almost like a pressed pattie. A nice menus item is the French fry/onion ring combo. Just enough of both to make you happy. Service was fast and food was ready for pickup as promised. Limited parking can be an issue. I went here to grab a quick lunch and was really impressed. The staff was friendly and quick while still paying attention to detail. The inside is super cute and gives off a retro vibe. While the inside area is small, there is a huge outdoor seating area that is inviting! I got the king troy burger and absolutely loved it! It had the perfect amount of mac and cheese and the burger was one of the biggest I've seen. If I could give a 4.5 I would. The only thing I'd have to knock is that I also got the Nashville Hot and felt it was lacking heat. I would definitely come back to try more, especially the cereal ice cream bar! read more

Wow, why have I not been here before?! THE BEST burger on the barrier island! Stopped in today and tried the Smokehouse burger. Generously sized patty on a brioche bun, applewood smoked bacon, delicious pickles, and homemade BBQ sauce. A very flavorful burger combination, fresh tasting and not greasy. Also got the crinkle cut fries, which were slightly seasoned and had a slight crunch. Restaurant was bright and very clean, had seating inside for about 10-12 people, and several picnic tables outside. Several people came in to pickup takeout orders. They also serve ice cream, and offer it infused with several different cereal flavors. Interesting twist! The staff was friendly. Prices are on par with other gourmet burger places, if not a bit cheaper. Much better than Five Guys burgers! I felt myself wanting more when I was done, as the burger was that good! If you're on the barrier island, throw this place some business so we can keep them around. It's right on Rt 35 North (right side) in Normandy Beach. This was my first time here and certainly not my last. We all ordered classic burgers, and shared several of the sides (onion rings, sweet potato fries, pimento mac). The burgers were amazing and they're made with Pat La Frieda meat plus served with a brioche bun it's worth every penny. As far as the sides go the onion rings were perfect, and the pimento mac and cheese was fine but the sweet potato fries with the vanilla bourbon dipping sauce was the best. We were addicted to the dipping sauce it was perfect for the fries. Word of advice is definitely share the sides with your group (I'd even recommend the half & half to split onion rings and fries). I wouldn't change anything about this place it's a solid burger joint with laid back vibes, good music and great service. If only my stomach was bigger! Hands down the best Impossible burger I've ever had. I'm a vegetarian for the past 20+years so I've tried them all, over the years. I really loved that it was a smash burger (sometimes the thick impossible burgers have a weird texture) This burger was perfect , from the soft brioche bun ,the vegan mayonnaise and all the toppings, Really Good Job! Fries came out hot and crispy , enough for two to share. Chicken sandwich was huge ! I was told maybe a little to thick but very good. We were really excited for this place after a lot of people suggesting it to us so we picked it up on the way to the beach a few weeks ago! Ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich, Mos burger, pimento cheese Mac & cheese and half fries, half onion rings. Chicken sandwich wasn't what it was hyped up to be in my opinion. I requested no pickles but kept the remainder of the condiments on it but I was unfortunately met with the smallest amount I have ever seen. Maybe like a quarter size of ranch and coleslaw total (the chicken itself was the size of my entire hand) The chicken is HUGE but without condiments helping the chicken, it lacks some serious flavor and freshness to balance it being fried. Mos burger was phenomenal on the other hand! Our entire family had a few bites and everyone loved it. We will probably come back for this burger alone. Pimento cheese Mac & cheese though.. it needs some serious help. I hope we just got it on an off day but when we opened it, the noodles were dry, almost like there was no cheese sauce on it at all. We had one good, flavorful bite and the rest was like eating cavatappi noodles plain. It could be VERY good if they were to have more cheese sauce in it but we will see. Fries and onion rings were also both good. Nothing wild but they were good and did the job! That being said, I actually reached out to them to offer a suggestion on the Mac & cheese or see if it was an off day. And to also show them the lack of toppings I got on the chicken sandwich. Headed up the GSP from one barrier island to another to check out BIB. It's the goods, yo. Those lacy edged smash burgers I always crave. Great flavor, juicy, nice bun, didn't love the sauce, but I'm a ketchup and mustard kind of gal. Extra points for crinkle-cut fries. Husband didn't love the southern-fried chicken sandwich (felt a little bland to him), but appreciated that it was thigh meat. First off my husband and I had the some of the best burgers in NJ, NY & Miami in the last couple of years. We order our meat directly from Pat Lafrida and shipped to us (burgers to). So when we decided to try Barrier Island Burgers near our Shore house I was not expecting much. Boy was I completely blown away. First off they have a 1/2 onion ring 1/2 fries side order, genius in my book. Why more places don't have this is insane. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a buttermilk dressing. Let's just say I am still trying to copy the buttermilk dressing, it is the best I have ever tasted. The chicken was fried to perfection. My husbands burger also was cooked to perfection and juicy. I had a Stewart's black cherry cola and my husband had a Stewart's Root beer. We had no room for dessert but they do have ice cream which was being enjoyed by other customers.
