Southern style fried chicken, Cobb salad, side of mac and cheese, Oreo milkshake and shake of the month
    Rosalie C.

Stopped by here after a recommendation from a friend. My fiancé had the southern style fried chicken sandwich. I had a Cobb salad and we shared a side of mac and cheese. We also got an Oreo milkshake and shake of the month (choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream with caramel and brownie bits). Food and milkshakes were great, really hit the spot. Service was great ams fast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great spot to grab a bite of sweet treat before or after the beach!

First time coming here. Its a small and cute place. They had seating area inside and outside. We ordered the og, king troy, large fries, small bib fries, and cinnamon toast crunch vanilla ice cream with nutella drizzle and brownie topping. Tasted great and food came pretty fast. The staff were lovely. They also had a bathroom.

It's really such a shame when a place has customer service so horrific that I need to leave a review. I was really looking forward to this summer for when Barrier Island Burgers would reopen. I remember getting THE BEST fried chicken sandwich here last year. I was sad when I thought they were permanently closed this winter, and super excited that they are open for business this summer. Yesterday I can in and asked for a Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich, no ranch, add mayo, lettuce and tomato. To go. And then a couple minutes later I decided to add on the Cajun dusted sweet potato fries with vanilla bourbon sauce. What I did mind was the black (burnt) outside of my fried chicken sandwich. Which when I asked the staff about, they said I promise it's not burnt. Later when I went to eat it, I realized they forgot the coleslaw and pickles and there was barely any mayo. For the sweet potato fries, you can tell they were undercooked on the inside. I think they forgot the Cajun seasoning too because they didn't have any taste. But the vanilla bourbon dipping sauce was awesome. I just wish the fries were cooked.

What a great spot. Seems like a burger joint BUT the burger was so much more...loved the roll and fresh curly lettuce...pickle and special sauce. I had the Classic with no cheese. The fries were the yummy crinkly kind ...perfectly cooked and seasoned. I want to try the famous Nashville Chicken sandwich next. Staff was working hard and super nice...Super cute aesthetic and the shakes looked special and will need to be tried next time too.

Cutest spot, fantastic food and quick. Staff was attentive and patient. Would definitely recommend.

I went here to grab a quick lunch and was really impressed. The staff was friendly and quick while still paying attention to detail. The inside is super cute and gives off a retro vibe. While the inside area is small, there is a huge outdoor seating area that is inviting! I got the king troy burger and absolutely loved it! It had the perfect amount of mac and cheese and the burger was one of the biggest I've seen. If I could give a 4.5 I would. The only thing I'd have to knock is that I also got the Nashville Hot and felt it was lacking heat. I would definitely come back to try more, especially the cereal ice cream bar!

Burgers and sandwiches were fantastic. You get your money's worth. They were big. Fries were awesome as well. Cool outdoor area as well.

Smokehouse burger and crinkle cut fries

Wow, why have I not been here before?! THE BEST burger on the barrier island! Stopped in today and tried the Smokehouse burger. Generously sized patty on a brioche bun, applewood smoked bacon, delicious pickles, and homemade BBQ sauce. A very flavorful burger combination, fresh tasting and not greasy. Also got the crinkle cut fries, which were slightly seasoned and had a slight crunch. Restaurant was bright and very clean, had seating inside for about 10-12 people, and several picnic tables outside. Several people came in to pickup takeout orders. They also serve ice cream, and offer it infused with several different cereal flavors. Interesting twist! The staff was friendly. Prices are on par with other gourmet burger places, if not a bit cheaper. Much better than Five Guys burgers! I felt myself wanting more when I was done, as the burger was that good! If you're on the barrier island, throw this place some business so we can keep them around. It's right on Rt 35 North (right side) in Normandy Beach. I've been around the area for a long time and this is the best burger joint we've ever had. Give it a shot.

Classic burger and pimento Mac and Cheese.

This was my first time here and certainly not my last. We all ordered classic burgers, and shared several of the sides (onion rings, sweet potato fries, pimento mac). The burgers were amazing and they're made with Pat La Frieda meat plus served with a brioche bun it's worth every penny. As far as the sides go the onion rings were perfect, and the pimento mac and cheese was fine but the sweet potato fries with the vanilla bourbon dipping sauce was the best. We were addicted to the dipping sauce it was perfect for the fries. Word of advice is definitely share the sides with your group (I'd even recommend the half & half to split onion rings and fries). I wouldn't change anything about this place it's a solid burger joint with laid back vibes, good music and great service. If only my stomach was bigger! Barrier Island Burgers is a nice addition to the shore.

All of this in a place that's fairly new, which makes it even more confusing. The service and the food- Easily some of the worst we've had. We mentioned that our food was inedible, and unfortunately that was not an exaggeration. The chicken fingers were absolutely obliterated. I'm someone who will usually eat a well-done tender, but these literally snapped in half they were so overcooked. The salmon on our salad was so hammered it had turned fully white, as if it had given up. The bartender completely ignored us while chatting with the other bartender (the place was dead). After about five minutes, we finally got her attention. She was visibly annoyed to be bothered. We calmly said the food was inedible and that we just wanted to leave. She dropped the bill with both items still on it. We politely asked if the uneaten food could be removed and said we were happy to pay for the iced tea and soda water. This request seemed to make her very angry. We then politely asked if a manager could help. The manager arrived with the same attitude. After some back and forth, the items were finally comped, but not before the manager called us idiots under her breath across the bar, which we clearly heard while she was speaking to the bartender. Overall- The staff matched the vibes. Hard pass.

Our server was super friendly and brought us coffee and waters quickly. We both kept it simple here with my wife ordering scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and sourdough toast and I had a ham and Swiss omelette, home fries and sourdough toast. Simple meals that came out quickly and done perfectly. I love that they the portions here are actually correct portion sizes and not an overwhelming amount of food. And I don't know what they do to their hash browns, but WOW. Tasted almost like mashed potatoes, but with the consistency of hash browns. Very good coffee and food, excellent and friendly service, small parking lot and on-street parking - this is an easy one to recommend, I would definitely come back.

If you arrive at 9 or after, you'll likely have to wait for a breakfast table. Aim for 8:30-8:45. The crab cakes Benedict are delicious. They have such a great hollandaise sauce here. The crab cakes really good too - mostly crab. My daughter is in love with their strawberry Nutella pancakes and still gets it every time, every visit, every year. The meat and egg sandwiches here are huge. They have big croissants. Coffee is good and they keep your mug full. Hot chocolates are nice as well. No credit card fee and I still very highly recommend this place for breakfast!!! We plan to eat here twice in the same week.
