This place is phenomenal. Everyone here is attentive and super responsive. Our salesperson, Ryan Sealander, was great. He was knowledgeable and he listened to what we needed. He set everything up for us from purchase to delivery. He talked us through the process and everything he said would happen was spot on. The delivery people were careful and efficient. I just purchased an stove a week ago, they sent the installers and today is a week and three days and the stove is not working properly. The oven is 50 degrees off and when is turn on a very strong gas smell full fill the house. So far i haven't been able to use it. i went to Barry's and they gave me the run around, telling me that the technician will contact me to come and look at the problem, so far nothing happen. I used to buy all of my appliances over there but this experience make me change my mind. Better off going to Home Depo where you can depend. I am warning you, very bad Customer Service. Let me start with I always go to Barry's for all my appliances. Great service especially delivery. They keep records of everything you have. I bought a whole new kitchen of Bosch from Kelley Evans. I was so impressed with the service I got. I needed a technician to come to my house to fix my washing machine. When I emailed them originally they got back to me within the hour. The woman set up the day and time for the technician to come and did she everything possible to get the right time for me, and she did. It was only a 3 hour window not 8, and only two days after I called. The technician called a half hour before arrival within the 3 hours. He was so knowledgeable and explained everything in detail to make sure it doesn't happen again. Was very quick and did it with a big smile.. Love this company. read more

This was the first store I went into looking for a specific brand and model of Speed Queen washer. The gentleman that tried to help me seemed knowledgeable and nice enough and was very accommodating. The issue I had was with the way the product was being sold. The salesperson told me that the manufacturer does not provide any hoses for the washer and that I would have to buy it for $50.00. Oddly enough, I had been doing my homework on this particular product and the website specifically mentions that all hoses were included. I even asked the salesperson if he was sure and he said he was. This plus whatever they were charging for delivery made this about a $800.00 purchase. So I said I would be back. I then called around to other dealers and was given a plethora of prices. I also asked about the hoses and was told that they were INCLUDED with the washer. After a few more calls I ended up at another store where, although not the cheapest, gave me the most bang for my $$$ and an all-inclusive price plus, the way I figured it, I paid $100 less than what Barry's was charging. That's how you do business - straight-up and no BS thinking that you can get one over on the customer. read more

That (a) it took 18 months to post a response here, and (b) no one ever called me and made the offer says it all, really. As does the rambling, self-aggrandizing, "word salad" post of March 2014, which doesn't even address any of the issues I cited: poor communications and inability to identify a cost-effective solution. If what I experienced was the product of extensive training and selective hiring which was boasted of, perhaps management needs to look in the mirror. Again, an amateur found a better, cheaper, faster solution than the pros [sic], with a quick phone call or two. And it required repeated calls, emails, etc., to get to the service manager. At the time, when I shared my experience with store staff, all I got was indifference and incompetence (otherwise I would not have had to contact the manufacturer myself). Free advice: Start with prompt, courteous replies to customers, no matter the means of contact (email, phone call, store visit, etc.), and a focus on effective problem solving. Let your actions and customer ratings say how awesome you are; if you have to resort to saying it yourself, something's seriously wrong. No one cares about the training and internal efforts if the results are not there. Given that the owner suggests that I/we "Please view all of our good reviews on the second page of Yelp" - which average to a pathetic one-star rating - I diagnose a severe case of Dunning-Kruger. As a staunch supporter of local/small business, I hope Barry's is able to reflect on this, learn from it, and implement solid improvement. Perhaps in the future I will reconsider. read more

I've used Barry's for years and found them to be easy to work with, their delivery folks showed up as planned and the installation job done right the first time. This last install was no different. We ordered a dishwasher right before Christmas. Their delivery/set-up guys did a great job installing the new unit correctly. Afterward we noticed slight scratches on the front stainless steel door. When I called service, Jen got right back to me and requested a photo and said they would send out there technician to fix it. The new panel arrived within a few days and now my dishwasher is 100%. 3 months ago I bought a microwave/oven for my kitchen that was delivered on time, but needed a metal piece to cover the space where there was a gap in the cabinet. I am still waiting for that piece and I will never use Barry's again. I like to shop locally, but the service here is awful. Tried to buy a dishwasher. Had delivery date, was a no show, no call. Was given the run around for days. 3 days later and no one will even call us back! This is how they run their business? I recently renovated my kitchen. The designer I was working with told me to meet her at Barry's Appliances. Biggest mistake of my life. Kelley is the salesperson that sold me all my appliances. I spent thousands of dollars and was told she would take care of the rebates. They were a total of $1125.00. Well, once I was ready for delivery, a very different Kelley emerged. Late afternoon delivery with two appliances nowhere to be found and no installation scheduled for that day. Extremely rude when I called in asking where the appliances were. I was promised an early morning delivery because there were so many appliances to install and that the double wall oven and hood would also come that day. Never heard back, so I called and again rude Kelley told me delivery would be between 3 pm and 6 pm. So basically I would have installers working in my home well into the night. Lastly, she never submitted my rebates and finally forwarded to me after several attempts of getting in touch with her . She now claims it's the consumers responsibility to submit. The 10 pages she sent are actually impossible to submit. Guess I'm out the $1125.00 I was promised when making such a large purchase. Stay away from this store! Rude, unprofessional and liars. I am beyond disappointed that there are people in the world that treat customers like this!!! YOU UPGRADED MY APPLIANCES?? That's false!! What exactly did you upgrade? I purchased a new home in January of this year. The home had just been renovated and still needed a refrigerator so the owner (contractor) left us a credit to make the purchase of the fridge of our choice at Barry's. We purchased a Samsung Smart fridge and a washer and dryer. Upon arrival three of the 4 doors on the fridge were dinged/dented. The guys who made the delivery told us that they would need to report the condition and wait for replacement doors rather than taking the damaged item back and giving us a fridge that was new and in perfect condition. While I didn't agree with the solution - I was pleasant and waited to hear back. After many emails and photos of the doors were exchanged, very little was done to correct the problem. We were told over and over that it was a problem with the manufacturer and we would hear back when the new doors arrived. It is now mid May (almost FOUR months later) and the doors finally arrived. However, only two of the three replacement doors were in good condition - again one was dented!!! Barry's NEVER took ownership of this issue. Any other appliance store would have replaced the item entirely if it arrived damaged. We paid a lot of money for a new refrigerator - NOT a used fridge or even slightly DAMAGED fridge. We have been very understanding and accommodating and are officially fed up. I'm writing this as a warning to anyone buying appliances at Barry's - buyers beware - if you purchase an item and it ARRIVES damaged - it won't be replaced with a new one and may never be fully repaired. The salesman called me to find out what we decided to do. I was honest and told him we went with another store. He proceeded to insult my wife (who was the one that visited the store). Don't shop here!! The reason you shop with local merchants is so that you can support them and in return they'll help you if there is an issue. These guys don't do that. With the kind of service Barry's provides, skip going local and just get an equal or better price on the web. Barry's sent me the wrong dryer. And then they hit me with both a huge restocking fee plus a huge delivery fee for the return. And this was for a Miele dryer, which is fixed price. Regardless of who is at fault for the wrong dryer number on the purchase order, a local place like this is supposed to work with you to get it resolved, not hit you with $500 in penalties for an incorrect delivery. With this kind of service, why shop with a local store? Go someplace else. read more

Will never shop here again. They owed me money and it took numerous phone calls, and several months to get it back. The delivery man didn't bring my rebate forms (totally $160), and after several months i still haven't been able to get the rebates. Additionally, after the delivery, they tried to charge me more money because i am located on a 2nd floor, even though i told them this at the time of my order. I really tried to like Barry's because they are family owned and i like to support small businesses. But the truth is, they can't perform nearly as well, and can't match the prices of a larger chain. And when undergoing a renovation, the last thing a shopper wants to deal with are money problems, numerous phone calls, and tons of back and forth with an appliance retailer. This store boasts about its customer service. I need to inform all of you shoppers out there, that they are very good at making the sale and being knowledgable, but don't ever have a problem with an appliance you purchase there. We made a grill purchase, and within 3 months were having problems with a leaky propane valve....we called the store, and they wanted to charge us a service call fee... We bypassed them and called the manufacturer who promptly sent us a replacement part... We decided to give them another chance, as we like to support our local small businesses - bad decision... this time an ice maker (and not a cheap piece of equipment either!!) the production is not as it should be, so we called asking for a representative to come evaluate the install for us thinking that maybe it needs adjustment...SIX calls later...STILL WAITING!!! I haven't written a review in the past and don't like being "negative" but feel compelled to warn people about the "warranty and service" from Barry's Appliances. I bought a dryer with a warranty and have been waiting over a month for someone to help me... Over a week's time, Barry's appliance provided me with various people to talk to at the store for resolution and they were always gone for the day or manager wouldn't call back. Finally I called them every day and they finally escalated to their best service person. Then the service person (who was excellent) said I needed a new motor. He had ordered it from "New Leaf Service Contracts" and they shipped a broken motor (and now the problems continue).... He can't find my dryer still until they pick up the motor (and new motor shipped)..... I do not recommend working with this store. read more

We always go back, and will continue to do so b/c we get a comparable price as the big box stores, and have always received top notch service. I would rather be writing a positive review but unfortunately I really can't. I was looking for a new dishwasher and some neighbors had told me to try this store and they had seasoned experienced salespeople. I had done some prior research on my own ( like everyone else does anymore ) and had some ideas of what I may be looking for. Got a younger guy ( didn't see any older or perhaps seasoned people there ) who I asked some questions to about these machines that don't have heater coils anymore vs the one's that do. He knew what I was talking about but really didn't have an opinion and didn't elaborate on the two different types of machines and just sort of left it there. I wasn't sold so I left, but did more homework on my own and decided on a model. I still was willing to give them a shot to support local business so I called the store and asked if they had this model and what would be the price. He took my # but never called me back, I called back a few days later and was told I would be called back by the end of the day. That didn't happen and now over a week passed. Poor customer service, and this person wasn't a salesperson - he was more of an order taker. What has happened to asking qualifying questions to determine the needs of the customer ? I wasn't even sure if I was picking a machine that was right for me but wasn't getting any insight or help here so decided to go elsewhere. Sorry for the review, and I would rather be writing a great one, but it just was not great and bad experiences always seem to resonate more than others. read more

Very nice sales person helped me purchase "top of the line" Friedrich 36,000 AC unit for my cafe and helped arrange an install. I purchased the extended warranty (5 years parts/labor, 10 year parts) $2,600 total. Everything was fine UNTIL the unit stopped working after just under 2 years. Call after call, emails, no answers. The service manager had "left for the day", wasn't in, etc. I finally after 5 weeks spoke to him and he said he had tried to call several times . . . LIE! He called and said he'd arranged for PEZZ electric to come service it. PEZZ arrived and went to purchase fuse which didn't fix problem. They left without fixing and said they'd have to get parts. I WAS CHARGED $185 for diagnostic visit. I said it was under warranty and that Barry's had made the appointment. He said he knew nothing about that and that they don't deal with 3rd party warranties. Called Barry's and SURPRISE!! Service manager was out for the day. Electrician called and said unit needs two parts, one is $700 and the other part didn't seem to be available. Barry's is saying the warranty doesn't cover the repair?? BOTTOM LINE . . . RUN! I've read similar reviews elsewhere about them. I'm out the cost of diagnostic, the cost of the warranty AND the unit is not worth the cost I'm being quoted. So disappointed. As a small business owner I thought I was doing the right thing by not going to Lowes or Home Depot. I feel like I got robbed. read more

Similar to other reviews, I tried to give my service to a local business instead of using a successful appliance company. It appears as though after waiting over two weeks to get my dishwasher delivered AND then when it arrived completely dented in on a corner that the man installing the device was competent enough to forget to turn back on the power to my refrigerator after he shut it off AND reconnect the water connection under my sink. He couldn't back on the same day to fix his mess. He flooded my kitchen and spoiled the food in my refrigerator. If you want to avoid complete and total incompetence and damage to your home, I would advise avoiding this establishment. read more

Like some others have posted, they are great at making the sale, but once that is done, you're out of luck. I recently purchased a washer and dryer. I had installation and removal of the old unit included. When the delivery arrived, they couldn't get it into the house, so they left it in the driveway. I was told to not worry, and that my salesman, Ed, would take care of it. After my wife called endless times and was promised a call back (which she never received) I was able to get a hold of Ed after a week. Again, promised a call back the next AM that I never received. I was told that I had to now pay for installation. These people will take your money, then try to take more if they can. Never before have I had such a horrible experience. My salesman, Wayne Mella found the refrigerator I was interested in even though it wasn't on display. He set everything up for delivery and installation within a few days. After receiving, the refrigerator I found it for a lower price. I returned to the store spoke with Mr. Mella and the difference was charged back to my credit card. It was done without any hassles. I have purchased a dishwasher, washing machine and a downstairs refrigerator from this fantastic family owned business. Over the past few days my kitchen refrigerator has leaked and died. After cleaning up the mess twice, and transferring all the food to the basement refrigerator, I was pretty exhausted. Did I mention my husband is out of town? So, I called Barry's and spoke to Jason. I told him the situation and that I needed a new refrigerator as soon as possible. He assured me that he could get me a delivery in two days. I explained to him that I am concerned about the measurements because I know the new refrigerators are bigger than the existing space. Jason actually said he could come over and measure the space and talk about my options! Yes he actually came over! I did not want to sacrifice the cabinet space above the refrigerator. He advised me that there were refrigerators that would fit the existing space, but if wanted to go bigger and get a refrigerator with more options, his people could do the cabinet work to accommodate a larger unit. I will be going down to the store this afternoon to buy my new fridge! I know the price will be competitive. They even offer a thirty day price guarantee. I appreciate the service and security of knowing I will get a great appliance at a competitive price while supporting a local family owned business. We are undergoing a complete kitchen renovation and I shopped my appliances. I went to Barry's because my KD recommended them. My initial experience was fine, but Barry's prices are significantly higher than other retailers in the area- Karl's, Top Line and Reno's. After my initial visit and some back and forth emails, I had the same experience as John S. I had called to leave a message for Jason and the salesman on the phone called me " babe." Insulting, sexist and unprofessional! I choose to ignore this and pursued better pricing to see if they would come in line with the other prices that I got. (why did I do that?) They did come down in price, however, we still chose to buy elsewhere. The manager was obnoxious and unprofessional when I told him that we were buying elsewhere. He whined about all of the hard work and effort he put into the sale and wanted to know why I still chose to buy elsewhere. This was all by email so the response from the store can not be "there must have been some miscommunication." Barry's pleads with you to "buy local" Why, b/c they have no other game and can't complete with the others. And when they lose out to price they have no other plan than to insult you. I will be sure to tell my KD to stop recommending that his clients work with Jason at Barry's. My KD and his team have been on the mark with everything but their recommendation of Barry's.
