I brought my car in for an oil change and to get things checked out because they were close to my parent's house and they were great. No frills and to the point. They took the time to explain what was going on with my car and what my options were. For things like brakes, tires and engine work, I compared prices with other places and they were always giving me the better deal. They are a very busy business, so I make sure to call and make an appointment to get my oil change as I am driving over 30 mins to this location and don't want it to be totally booked up. I suppose, even though I have to plan more, it's a GOOD thing that they are always busy. Their service is in high demand, and I'd like to think it's because of their quality of service. I go very much out of my way just to come to Monroe in Cheshire for an oil change, but it's worth it and the only place I trust to get a straight answer and complete professional service. Bravo guys!

I made an online appointment for 8 AM for an oil change and battery check at ( Anderson Tire and…read moreAuto } Modern Tire and Auto in Cheshire Ct. I got there at around 7.45 and spoke with the service rep about what services I wanted. I told the rep, that the battery check was no longer needed, since I had to replace the battery a day earlier. I also said that since my Nissan was about due for emissions, why not do it. The service rep looked up my registration and confirmed emissions could be done My 2010 Nissan has 4,300 original miles on it and has been garaged since new. After the battery change, I washed and waxed the car. I did my usual check of my paint as I waxed it. No scratches, no dings. Modern changed my oil and filters and at some point did the emissions test. Nearly 2 hours later when I was paying my bill, the rep said your car did not pass emissions. I said I could not believe it. The rep then said oh yeah you said that you just replaced the battery so you will need to get 100+miles on it to get the sensors working again. I was given a deadline to bring the car back. for retesting. On the way home several warning lights on the dash came on, so I parked the car in front of my garage and turned the car off. I restarted and the lights were off, so I drove down my street and the warning lights came back on. I turned on to a side street and parked. I attempted to start the car, but the shift Lever was locked and the car would not start. I called Modern and told them the situation and asked if they could have perhaps disconnected any wires that could cause my situation. The Modern tech said no, bring the car back and they will check it. I called AAA to transport the car to my Nissan dealer. As the car was pulled into the transporter I noticed that the driver's side rear fender above the wheel had been scraped and there were additional small scratches on the body.. I again called Modern and told the tech about it. The manager got on the phone and said not possible that the car was damaged there, but he would look at video clips of his car bays. After AAA left as I was getting into my wife's car, she asked If I saw the large oil spot where my car was parked. I laughed it off and said it was most lightly road oil. My wife drove me down to Modern and we both went in to talk with the manager. He said he checked the pictures and no way this happened in his Garage and was verry adamant about it. The Nissan Dealer did a diagnosis of my car and determined that the break light control switch had to be replaced. The following day I got my car back and parked it in my garage. The next morning I decided to put the needed miles on it and found a basketball sized oil slick on the garage floor under the oil filter. I called Modern and a tech said sometimes the oil filter O rings can be chipped and to bring the car in at 7.45 tomorrow. I wiped up the oil slick on the garage floor and covered it with card board. The following day I checked the cardboard and sure enough there was a large spot of new oil. I drove to Modern was told to wait for a tech to come in. I waited in front of the garage. The manager showed up and was very rude. He insisted that there was no leak. I told him my oil level was below the full line, he showed little interest in resolving the problem. I moved the car so we could look at the pavement under my car. There was a half dollar sized fresh oil stain on the pavement. He still would not acknowledge that oil was leaking. He angrily accused me of lying to him about the damage and the need to get towed. He then said all bays were filled and I would have to wait and to park in back. I waited in the waiting area a while, then walked to the back and found my car in a bay with a floor jack under the side. The manager angrily said that the oil filter was tight and if I wanted the issue to be further checked out, I would have to wait for, I believe he said 4 hours for a lift. At this point with the manager's attitude, I had no desire or trust to have him further involved with my car. I left the shop and asked my wife to make an appointment for an oil and filter change at the Nissan dealer. I drove to Nissan, they changed the oil and filter, and Guess What, no leaks on my garage floor. In all the years I did business with this shop, I never had a problem. As long as the current manager remains at Cheshire Modern Tire, I cannot recommend this business to my family members or anyone else. You have other choices in Cheshire and the surrounding area. Stay away.
