The service and workmanship at Dean's is horrible. This garage try's to sell you service that you don't need. The labor rate is very expensive. Recently learned from another dealership where my truck was towed, that the sparks plugs were "Hand Tight" at best. Dean's failed to reattached the wires to the plugs properly which caused more issues. I recommend NOT USING DEAN'S. Very disappointed with the damage and very expensive additional repairs needed because of their negligence. read more

My wife hit a deer near Durham. Dean Autoworks was the closest shop. They had good reviews and a AAA rating, so I had her nurse the truck there. This is not a show car, it's my workhorse towing and hauling truck. They gave me the option of doing both an OEM repair, and a daily driver repair. I was stuck in Mud and my car needed to be pulled out. During the pull a spring broke and I had to limp into Dean's and leave it for inspection. They were nice and fit it into the next days schedule but charged me 70.00 to power spray the mud off before they would give me an estimate. They charged me an additional 70.00 to provide an estimate of required work to get it back on the road. The estimate was so high I decided to have my car towed 18 miles to my local repair shop who performed all the required work for one tenth of the price. I would strongly suggest getting a second estimate before committing to any major repairs with them. Nice people. but they charge top dollar. read more

Business ethics matter. I would NEVER recommend Dean's. After our personal roadside assistance could not get a tow out for a vehicle stuck in the road, the state police called Dean's. Their flatbed came and was adamant that they could not tow anywhere but Dean's, not to our garage 20 miles away and not to our home 5 miles down the road. When going to arrange to move the vehicle from Dean's the next day, I was told the tow was not covered by roadside assistance which I had already suspected. I informed them that we have a garage and would be moving the car same day however, if they wanted to look at the vehicle in the meantime to see if it were a simple tire fix, I'd be happy to have an estimate. I asked that that they would not touch do any service to the vehicle without contacting me first. THEY DID. Or, tried. They also provided an astronomical quote. They phoned 8 minutes to closing, I missed the call and when I phoned right back (several times) they did not answer. I drove to them as I wanted to ensure their tow of $140 was paid and the car would be moved from the locked lot for pick up from our tow. The same 2 men were in the office, only 1 with a customer and the other NOT answering the phone. They proceeded to tell me of the new charges for trying to repair the tire and then informed me of the astronomical quote. I advised them that our tow was coming and let them know that I was going 5 minutes up the road to pick up my son. I asked for reassurance that the vehicle would be available to the tow for pick up and not locked in the back lot. They said yeah sure we can "roll it" to the front lot then looked at each other, one saying how are you going to do that without doing anymore damage, looking at me again and saying "we'll get it to the front if that's what you want". I left, picked up my son and found the vehicle on the damaged tire with body damage to the vehicle and a driver door that no longer works properly. We now have more to worry about than a damaged wheel hub. The ONE star can be for the tow attendant last night who took great care to ensure no additional damage to the vehicle. He was also quick and professional, seemingly following "company policy" regarding "only tow to Dean's ". read more

I highly recommend Dean Autoworks. I needed to repair a damaged side view mirror on my car. They helped to explore the cheapest ways to fix it, gave me a fair price for the agreed upon work and ultimately charged me less than the estimate even though more work was required to fix it than we initially estimated. They even dropped me off and picked me up so I didn't need to get a ride or use a loaner. I'm very pleased!! read more

I brought 4 wheels to have tires swapped on them. It rung up to 156 dollars. I also was told I would be called when the job was done and I waited till 15 minutes till close and got no call. I called them and my tires were ready to go. I made it there just in time and was the last customer, the employee who rung me out made some slightly unprofessional remarks about it being Friday, no big deal. After reviewing, a 12 dollar charge was added for tire disposal, yet I was taking the tires. Even after that deduction, the price seems extremely steep. A flat rate on a tire changeover service (20-25 dollars a tire) instead of an hour labor at 135/hr plus fee's and who knows how many people didn't question the fees and they got away with it. I won't be going back unless an absolute last resort. read more

My husband was in an accident which caused $4000 worth of damage to his vehicle. Dean fought with the insurance company to make sure the parts in his car were up to his own standard. It took almost two weeks (because of the insurance adjuster) and Dean even provided a loaner for a few days to save us the cost of a rental.
