I started my Barry's journey here at the marina district, it's been awesome so far! I started with Tommy and he basically gave me a rundown of how it should all work. I also like that their lockers aren't the combination locks like most gyms are! Everyone there is so friendly and wants to know how to pronounce your name correctly which I absolutely loved. I made a pact with myself to work out and get healthy this year. i've never taken more than 30 classes at different locations and have never been so excited to attend a class. It is recommended for anyone looking to change their body , burn some fat, lose some weight and build mental health. thanks barrys marina!

I've been going to Barry's at least 2x/month via Class Pass. The only reason I am docking off the one star is for the price. Kinda steep at $34/class, but with Class Pass, it breaks it down to about ~$25 a class with the plan that I chose. If you're hoping to attend Barry's more consistently, they do offer packages, but pricing does vary depending on location. Class Pass is definitely a great alternative if you'd like to attend classes here and there. The only classes I've tried out at this location have been Full Body (Sunday) and Arms & Abs (Monday). I've tried Abs on a Thursday, but at the SoMa location! Although this is a little further of a drive from me, it definitely is easier to find parking. It's a lot bigger too with more spots available to choose from. I've had Vanessa, Kathryn, and Brian as my instructors. They're all great. They play great music and are have tons of energy to motivate you through the hour. When you book your spot, you can either choose between FLOOR (F), TREADMILL (T), and DOUBLE FLOOR (DF). You alternate between the floor and tread for several rounds. Time spent on the floor and tread depends on your instructor. They've got Woodway treadmills which are fantastic. It makes it so easy to switch between incline levels & speeds with a quick push of a number. I definitely feel a lot more support on my feet running on these! Personally, when I do arms & abs, I like to start off on the tread just because I like to get my body warmed up and that way I don't have to end up on the tread on the last round so I won't be so out of breath, haha. With class pass though, you don't really have the option to choose where you want to be, but sometimes, if the class isn't too crazy full, you can request to be on a tread if you aren't booked on one already. The workouts can definitely be intense. Weights start at 8 lbs and the instructors usually have the ladies start at a minimum of 10-15 lbs! On the tread you alternate speeds & incline. The incline runs are what kills me the most, but the more I've come to Barry's, the stronger & faster I've become! Not gonna lie, the first time I attended a class here... I thought wow, this is the hardest workout I've ever done. But being around a class full of people definitely pushes you to workout harder! I always feel great afterwards. Like damn, I made it through a whole hour of that - go me! The bathrooms are equipped with some great amenities. They've got Oribe everything - that's that good stuff! They've got plenty of towels, makeup remover wipes, blow dryer, tampons, hair ties... all you need really! Lockers are available in the women's bathroom, but also in the hallway outside. They have a fuel bar where you can pre-order your post-workout smoothie so it'll be ready for you after class. My all-time favorite is Barrys & Brunch! I can't wait until they open their Burlingame location!

Continue to love on Barry's marina day in and day out - this workout is just the best in the business. Each time you take a class, it's a new sequence of runs and floor work. I appreciate all the staff and instructors as they truly care about your workout, health, and well being. Big shout out to my favorite instructor for his hard core Wednesday morning classes, Vidal! Thanks for you do for our Barry's community! His classes are top notch, fun, energetic, very hard, but very rewarding. Always walk out of CHABS day with a smile on my face. With that said, you can try any of the amazing instructors and you won't be disappointed! The prices are steep, I recommend balling out and buying a holiday package for the 4 days they offer them in December. Otherwise, try to get your company on corporate perks for year round packages! It's worth the mula, treat yourself to Barry's instead of things that are bad for your body!!

Great morning workout session while traveling for work! Would highly recommend. The red room is larger than typical NY studios and instructors are very into the workout. Clean locker rooms with plenty of lockers.

After a pre-call with the owner to discuss my golf goals, I signed up for the monthly subscription. Upon my first visit, I was surprised to learn that my trainer doesn't play golf and doesn't have extensive experience training golfers, but rather specializes in post-natal training for new mothers. The onboarding email told me to bring a 7-iron to my session for swing analysis, but I was informed onsite that I wouldn't need it, as they don't do swing assessments at the Hayes Valley location (maybe they do at other locations). My assessment used none of the technology showcased in this video: https://www.performforgolf.com/how-it-works and had nothing golf-specific. Just some basic stretches and ordinary dumbbell exercises. Aside from the golf branding, the only aspect of the gym that appeared tailored to golf was access to the Titleist TPI mobile app. They highlight that their trainers are TPI certified; however, in researching the program, it appears one can get certified with only ~10 hours of self-paced videos. Hardly the level of elite golf experience that the website testimonials from professional golfers led me to believe. The facility is an ordinary gym. A few mats, racks of free weights, benches, etc. Serviceable, but standard. They do have golf simulators, which members have access to although I didn't have the chance to see one. I had to purchase a package of personal training sessions up front before my initial assessment. My unused sessions were not refunded after my first visit didn't live up to expectations. If you want an ordinary gym with personal training and its locations are convenient, Perform for Golf may be a great option for you. If you're serious about golf and looking for a golf-specific training center, this product falls short of the company's marketing.

Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing…read more I cancelled my membership in January 2025, but the gym continued charging me monthly for several months afterward. When I eventually noticed and contacted them, management confirmed they had received my cancellation and admitted the charges were a mistake. I was promised a refund and later agreed to receive it in monthly installments after being told that was the only way they could process it. The first refund was supposed to be issued in mid-January, but it never came through. I followed up by email and phone, and I've received no response. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, missed commitments, and silence afterward are what really concern me. I would recommend being very cautious and keeping detailed records if you choose to do business here.

Housekeeping: 5 stars! Professional and super hard working. (As other reviewers have said.)…read more Equipment and fitness floor: 2.75 stars: they have a few interesting machines, but they don't have enough of the more popular standard ones. There is one of each of the weight machines so the wait times can be pretty long any part of the day. They could repurpose some of the open mat area, which is unnecessarily large in comparison to the area dedicated to the machines. Group fitness classes: 3.5 stars: they have a lot of good classes. There is not enough variety, as other reviews noted. I remember when they had tons of Pilates mat classes. Now they focus mostly on Zumba, which is wonderful...we need more strength training (like Pilates or such). Spa and pool facilities: 2.5 stars. The women's locker room is well maintained, and is the main reason why we continue to choose this gym. They recently installed some very temperamental locks in the women's locker rooms, and the numbers on the locks are super small to read...seems like an ADA issue; As it is, the housekeeping staff needs to help with lock-outs all day. (And they still keep the place sparkling clean! Hence five stars in the first category above.) The women's steam room is offline chronically due to repair issues. And so women who use the pool need to walk, dripping with cold pool water, through a lounge/lobby area while the steam room is under construction. These conditions have been true for over two months now. And there is no good timeline for when the steam room and direct access to the pool area will be restored. The steam room was under construction in 2025, too. Security team is incredible. Bottom line: if housekeeping and security could run the whole place, this would be a five-star review; If you need to get through your workout efficiently, and don't want to wait in line for a shoulder press or leg press, maybe check another gym with more than one of each type of machine. If you want daily cardio-type fitness classes, and don't need machines or weight lifting work, this gym is a good option. Just don't bring a bag that you need to stow in a locker to avoid the hassle of getting locked out! (Bags of any kind are prohibited on the gym floor.) We have been members for a long time, and so we have a reasonable rate. I would not pay the current prices, however, as it feels like too much for what they currently offer. Hope this helps you decide on the best gym for your needs!
