Steve's Tune Up Plus - Desk front

Steve's Tune Up Plus

Wonderful service, I had an oil change and the dip stick broke off due to age but they replaced it…read morefree. The price was very good and service was great! I will definitely be using this shop in the future.

If I could give zero stars, I would. After seeing some of the reviews on google, I honestly believe…read moremany are fake, from friends/family, or paid promos -- because my experience at Steve's Tune Ups was a total nightmare. About a month ago, I brought my car in for a simple alignment and rotor replacement. The vehicle was veering slightly despite having new tires, so I figured I'd get it aligned and tuned up. They charged me over $1,200 -- which I initially accepted, assuming the work was thorough. They also threw in an oil change. A few weeks later, I started noticing a slight vibration and wobble on the front passenger side. Naturally, I brought it back, thinking it might be something minor, especially since they were the last people to touch the car. Instead, I'm hit with a laundry list of "issues" -- bad CV joints, sway bars, and possibly a motor or transmission mount -- totaling another $1,400+. When I asked why none of this was caught during the recent alignment, I got a vague response like, "Sometimes you don't catch those things." It gets worse: While they were "test driving" my car, a friend of mine called me and said, "Why are they driving your car so hard back there in that parking lot?" When I got the car back, the vibration was noticeably worse than when I dropped it off -- meaning I basically paid them $159 "diagnostic" to make the issue WORSE. And when I refused to authorize more work is when they held my car hostage until I paid the $159 "diagnostic fee" -- for work that was essentially a review of their own previous work, and that I wasn't even warned about up front!!! Ridiculous. At this point, I was angry and needed a second opinion. I waited to post this review until I confirmed what I suspected -- I had two other shops inspect the same issue. One quoted under $400 total (parts + labor), and the other quoted just over $500. That's less than half of what Steve's tried to charge me! This entire experience has left me angry, frustrated, and feeling completely ripped off. I trusted them, and not only did they fail to fix the problem -- they made it worse and tried to upsell me into more unnecessary repairs. Do not bring your vehicle here. Get a second opinion before you hand over a single dollar. Or better yet; bring your car to a HONEST shop to begin with! Steve's Tune Ups is, in my opinion, a complete scam shop. It sucks that we live in a world where even though things are hard and prices are high for everyone, you got people like this scamming off hard working people. Pathetic! Sorry-not sorry

So thankful for Jon and the work that gets done at Freedom Auto. He goes above and beyond when…read moreexplaining the different tiers or parts available and best prices ranges of replacement parts. I can trust that he will give me the best prices. And he will do it with excellence in a great amount of time! I fixed a head gasket and many other things with 3 different cars I've owned!

Some of the work he did for me I had also gotten quoted at another shop and his out-the-door price was considerably lower than what I was quoted. That was my first time in. I just took my 2012 Kia soul which is extremely high mileage to him for some work. I had been having issues with my charging system and several places I went to (Auto Parts places) said my alternator was fine and my battery was fine. I described the issues I had to Jon and as I suspected he found the alternator was bad. It was not charging the battery properly and was not putting out the full voltage required. I had priced alternators for this car and a quality alternator was approximately $375 at an auto parts store if I did the labor. Jon charged me about $375 for a lifetime warranty alternator and less than $100 for the installation. He also had it ready a day earlier than promised. Once again freedom Automotive earned my five star review. I found out that Jon had also worked at a Kia dealership early in his career. He also did work for a friend of ours who was told that their Isuzu diesel delivery truck needed a new fuel pump for over $1,500. His diagnosis was that the second fuel filter was clogged and the fuel pump was fine. His work saved them close to $1,000. Before you go somewhere else and get a misdiagnosis I would call Freedom. By the way he is moving his his business to a larger location in Willis. Look for his new location. You will be glad you did.
