We have been here a few times and it was pretty decent. The last time we stopped however was different. The waitress was not friendly and we waited a long time to get 2 simple orders of the grilled ham and cheese. When we finally got it they were both burnt but one dish was very burnt and just gross. When it was mentioned the one was burnt the waitress replied with , "well it's not like they were brought out to you very fast." No apologies. I said I'm just letting you know it's kinda not edible and I don't have time to wait for another one. She said look I can get you another one and it would be like 2 mins. I said no I can't wait .. so I wonder why suddenly it would be 2 mins vs about 30 I waited for the first time. I asked for the bill thinking she mite adjust the price but nope, she went into the kitchen to start yelling at the cook. Never offered an apology or a price adjustment. Thanks for the 24 bucks I spent on lunch I didn't get to eat. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Glad my co workers don't yell at me in front of customers! Very disappointing. read more

It's a dive bar but the reviews looked better. Service seemed a little inattentive from the beginning to the end. There was a slight rudeness as we waited to be seated as if it was another thing someone had to do versus wanted to do. Our server was younger and seem inexperienced she was helpful just checked on us to I frequently. I feel it's important for you to have a minute after you get you food to make sure it's prepared the way you requested. This step was missed. I had an over cooked burger and it was strange. The bun was toasted yet cold. Did they really pre toast the bun. The bacon was not appetizing at all. It was the Bacon Barbecue Burger. The burger would have tasted better if it was not well done and dry from being cooked to death. Additionally it was seasoned with a heavy dose of garlic salt. I would have sent it back if the server returned. I added fries and coleslaw. Fries were good. The coleslaw had not flavor. If you not going to try don't offer it on the menu. Gordon Food store bought would have been better effort. My wife had the wet burrito and it was just okay. The enchilada sauce had good flavor. The salsa was not very good very heavy garlic salt taste. This was the go to seasoning for the cook. So if you're dead set on great go down the road. If you are hungry it will fill you up. read more

I have been here over 100 times. Yes, hard to believe but I track my restaurants and this was my 123rd time. Been coming here for the past 10 years and it is by far the best food around. The only thing close is Chase Creek Smokehouse but I still like Barski best. The service is normally great but can fluctuate. I'm sure this is due to the big swings in business in such a seasonal location. The staff tries hard but it can get difficult to handle the customers depending on the night. Went here tonight for dinner. It was ok. We had a party of 7. Most had hamburgers and everyone said they were "fine". One of our party had the fish and chips and said they were very good. I know this is a popular spot, it was full for dinner. I tend to like The Government Lake Lodge over Barski for the atmosphere, among other things. read more

The food here is surprisingly good for a roadside bar looking place. The burger patties are fresh, not frozen meat pucks like you'd expect from most bars. The chicken strips are actual cuts of chicken battered and fried to order. The onion rings are fresh sliced onion dipped in batter and fried. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the batter was a bit thick and hard for my taste, and the fries would have been better if they were thick cut, wedge style fries. Horrible service and the place was pretty empty. Food was OK but nothing special. The cook came out to talk to us while we were eating and he was filthy from head to toe. He looked like a diesel truck mechanic, filthy shirt, pants, hat and even his hands were all dirty. Great extensive menu. Clean bathrooms. Ordered the build your own burger-cooked to order(medium); with choice of cheese (cheddar) and meat (bacon) on choice of Kaiser or pretzel roll (Kaiser). The burger was served hot n perfect to order with lots of tasty bacon. They season their burger meat with 18 or so items-so beware if you like your burger meat plain (as my husband does). Added fries (+$2) to one order-they are skinny fries with light seasoning-very tasty. Added onion rings (+$3) to other order-huge batter dipped served with your choice of dipping sauce. They were a tad bit on the greasy side-but good n hot-the horseradish side sauce was good with them. This was our first visit our server was the only highlight food very expensive everything tasted like garlic, this is why I ate 2 pieces of fish and it wasn't until the third I felt the cold slimy center I took out a flash light and looked at the pinkish slim hidden under the thick over loaded with garlic salt to mask flavor breading that I was served raw under cooked fish. The next 30 minutes were spent heavily vomiting out in the uneven mostly mud puddle they call a parking lot. I personally would never return and would encourage others not to go instead go somewhere else like Twin Creeks in Luther just a short drive 10-15 minutes you won't be sorry Awesome menu fair prices read more

Two visits within the last six months and the service was inexcusably terrible. Thought the first time was just a 'bad day' for the staff, but the last visit was even worse! After waiting over an hour for an order of nachos we left without ever being served anything. Having dined there before and been very impressed with the quality and variety of the menu, this was hard to understand. If the place was busy a slight wait would be expected, but that was not the case and the wait staff seemed to be avoiding us on purpose, serving customers that arrived and ordered after we were seated. The food is eclectic and good. The customers include locals at the bar and guys from around the US and as far away as England in for the steelhead and salmon fishing on the Pere Marquette River. The flat iron steak, potato pierogi with mushroom gravy, BBQ chicken, and olive burger on a pretzel bun are excellent. The kapusta (cabbage with tomato,...etc.) is a great side dish. The building is old and the furnishings a mixed bag, but it is clean. And it is a place you can bring your wife and kids. read more
