Tonight was our first trip to Szots and it won't be our last. Our service was great. The burgers were excellent-fresh ingredients and cooked just right. Best Olive Burger in Big Rapids? You Bet! Today, some friends from work and I went out for lunch at Szot's Bar & Grill on North State Street in Big Rapids. I ordered their Olive Burger and asked them to toast the bun. I added cheese, lettuce, and mayo too. Let me tell you--this burger was amazing. I've eaten burgers in lots of places, even at Szot's before. But today's burger? It was the best one yet. The bun was warm and crispy, the toppings were fresh, and the olives gave it a tasty kick. I liked it so much, I stopped talking just to enjoy it. If this burger was running for mayor of Big Rapids, I'd vote for it twice! read more

Great burgers. Reasonable prices. We stopped for a late lunch on a drizzly day perfect place to sit back and enjoy a meal. The team was nice and service was quick. The ambiance was inhabited by the home made chili and real hamburgers. We will return on our next trip. read more

We order here often. The prices are very reasonable and the food is ALWAYS delicious. We normally get takeout and pretty much always burgers. Their burgers are awesome as well as their sandwiches. I can't speak to the in-house service but takeout service is always fast and friendly. read more

Burgers are out if this world good! $3.75 for a cheeseburger that tastes easily double that! And $8.00 for a pitcher of Two Hearted. I would be here weekly if I still lived in Big Rapids. read more

Szots has some of the best burgers in town. On Fridays I also enjoy their seafood chowder it is very good and the portions are good as well.

A couple of other places in town, burgers were $8-11. I'm sure the ingredients are locally. Szots burgers appeared to be hand made patties and grilled to perfection. A burger w/hot pepper cheese, and polish dog w/kraut and fried onions, with chips a 12oz. LaBatts and a 2-Hearted Ale with top; less than $20 out the door. Friendly local clientele too. read more

Definitely a hometown place, often offering live music on the weekends. They have two dining areas, one where the bar is and one in back. Nothing new or trendy but great burgers and homemade soups! Don't expect French fries b/c they don't have a fryer, but nobody seems to mind, and chips come with the burgers and they are good. They also have a few other delights like fried egg sandwich. Small groups ok, but there is not enough room for large parties, probably 10 people max for a group. read more

First time visitors as we passed through town on the way home from a funeral. To be honest, we only stopped to use the bathroom and play Keno. The building is old and from the outside it was impossible to tell if it would be a friendly place or trouble. All concerns faded as we opened the front door and were warmly greeted by the two lovely ladies working inside. The place looked and smelled very clean and there was a friendly group of regulars of various ages at the bar. We were quickly set up with two good drinks and our server bragged about their 'famous' burgers and chili. We weren't even hungry but decided to try both items. The chili was a traditional style, not too spicy, but with very tasty ground beef. Not sure if I would call the burgers famous but for the price they were certainly very, very good burgers. Again the ground beef is excellent. As for the bathroom, the building is from the 1930s, so if you find yourself needing to sit down in there you may find yourself nose-to-backside with someone using the sink! As for the Keno, my advice is keep your money in your own pocket and you will always be a winner! read more

Solid burgers, but the chili is the only reason I go here. Few restaurants serve decent chili, but this is one of them. It's not as spicy as I prefer, but it's pretty hearty. The beer is for simpletons that like mass produced beer, but I don't come here to drink. If they didn't have chili on a given day, I'd probably get up and walk out. The staff is always nice and it's definitely a no frills place, but for a lunch during the work day where you're not trying to eat a big meal or guzzle beer, it's a decent place to go. read more

Great Food. Fresh ground beef hamburgers and never frozen. Best olive burger ever, they make a special "olive sauce" you need to try, ask for it!! Big size burgers that fill you up and cost less than fast food clowns. I never have to wait. Service is prompt and the food comes out fast and hot. Great home made soups and chili. A small band of guitar and bongos offers some good live music on the weekends. No to loud that you can't have a conversation. Another room in the back is a bit more private. Been eating there for 25 years and never disappointed. Always the same consistent food and service. The interior setting is a bit local and old school, but interesting all the same. You can look on the wall and see a high school graduation picture of your GF's grandmother, cool... as local grad pics date back several decades and boast some long time local family names and faces.
