My boyfriend was admitted for a mental health-related stay that lasted two days, and the experience was honestly terrible. The staff showed little compassion or professionalism. Instead of being supportive, some made jokes, teased him, and even called him names. One nurse made an inappropriate comment saying she "liked her girls thicker," which was completely uncalled for and disrespectful. When someone is in crisis, they deserve empathy, not mockery. Mental health patients should feel safe, not humiliated. I truly hope the hospital reviews how its staff treat people and starts providing proper training and accountability, because no one should have to experience what he went through. read more

We took my daughter to the BCH Emergency dept because she had been suffering from the flu for over two weeks. We understand that sometimes the flu may take weeks to recover from but my daughter has an autoimmune disease and asthma so she has a weakened immune system. When she gets sick it affects her very bad. At this point she had been running a fever off and on for 3 days and was having issues breathing. The women at the check in were extremely rude and showed no empathy. My daughter felt like she was a bother being there. The doctor or Nurse Practitioner Sara Gonzalez, showed no empathy or care at all! She kept repeating that it was just a cold nothing serious and not contagious. We just wanted to make sure she didnt develop pneumonia or bronchitis. My husband fought with her to get a school note. Dr. Sara Gonzalez kept saying that my daughter was not contagious and could go back the very next day. She gave her a school note only for that day she was in the emergency then after arguing with the front desk she changed it for one more day but only crossed out the day with pen and wrote the new date in. Very unprofessional. My husband asked for another updated typed out note . The front desk was very rude about the note , they kept insisting my daughter was ok to go back because of the doctor and were not helpful at all! We will not be back at all! The entire visit they made my daughter feel like she was a bother and as if what she went in for was nonsense and ridiculous! The doctors and front desk should Learn to empathetic and more sincere. One might not feel so bad when they get the flu but it affects others that have other medical conditions going on! read more

had a terrible experience at Barstow Community Hospital. I went to the ER on a Friday unable to eat or drink, and spent the entire day there with no fluids, no treatment, and no GI consult until the very end -- right as the business week was ending and the weekend began, when no further help would be possible. The GI doctor they finally contacted was rude and dismissive, and the ER staff treated me like a nuisance instead of someone in clear distress. If they had just told me earlier that they weren't going to take action, I could've gone to another hospital during business hours and had a real chance at seeing a GI specialist. I left still unable to eat or drink and had to seek emergency care elsewhere. Completely unacceptable. read more

My fiancé has been admitted twice in the past 3 months. He went in by ambulance. The first time he was transferred to Arrowhead Regional Hospital. The most recent visit also by ambulance he was left in the lobby next to the door in the emergency room department. It was 4 hours before he was taken to a room. Since on the main floor he has been there a week and has had exceptional care. He has a private room. The first couple of days he was not easy to deal with. One nurse I'm particular named Maddie was wonderful with him. She calmed him down very quickly. Something I'm not good at. Her bedside manner is commendable. She is excellent. The social worker is outstanding setting him up with after care. Apparently the food is something to talk about. I've heard from multiple people now that a chef that should have his own restaurant works there. People go there just to eat. Thank you to the staff for being wonderful. read more

Why do the Physicians have to exit the hospital through the ER? We took my husband here because he crashed his motorcycle... The staff was excellent and the ER was very clean. The care he got was amazing! The ER doctor, Dr. Curran was very through and straight forward. He ended up breaking some ribs and puncturing his lung and the nurse Alex told us all about the procedure he was gonna have and was so nice. He ended up getting admitted and once upstairs they were constantly checking on him making sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. His nurse Adrianna was AMAZING!! AVOID Dr Gautam at this hospital it is my opinion he is negligent in his professional care and reckless in his medication prescriptions. And had challenges in keeping accurate medical records. Others in the medical profession at this hospital are aware and are either too intimidated to complain or an don't have courage to do the right thing. Dear Administration, please call a staffing firm. If you do not agree with the care or course of action ask for another doctor or second opinion and don't be afraid to file a complaint. On Saturday November 30, 2024 I went to the emergency room after being sick for 6 days. I needed a battery of tests done to find out what was going on with. I had 2 RNs that saw to my every need. Their names are Alexis l. and Vicki S. The 2 of them were amazing. They are not just nurses they are angels. The doctor ordered CT Scan of my stomach which was performed by 3 amazing techs. They made it easy for me during the scan. I am 72 and degenerative back problems which made this challenging but they got it done with minimal problems. Their names are Manny Caraveo, Justin Hayes, & Raymond Marin. These 5 people along with others took really great care of me & I appreciate everything that they did for me. read more

My sister is pregnant and dehydrated. I've never dealt with sweeter nurses in my life .. Natalie is amazing I want to get her cupcakes. This was our first time here and I was really impressed. We drove from the HD to avoid the crowdedness and I was a little scared to come out here but I know from now on I will always make the drive. I can't think of anyone that has ever said "I love this hospital" lol but We've never been better taken care of. I went in for abdominal pain that had lasted for 7+ days and was now sever and causing vomiting. I got to a room right away and a nurse practitioner came in and said she would test for COVID and Flu, asked about my vomiting and did some pressure testing of my belly to which I told her it was a severe pressure type pain but not stabbing. She ordered some bloodwork and I never saw her again. They only focused on my vomiting for that morning and completely disregarded the fact that I had sever abdominal pressure/pain. The nurse I had was great!! I was sent home told my 7 day abdominal pain was due to my one morning of vomiting. They did not listen to me at all or my history. I could hardly walk; strange dr. refused MRI and told me she was refusing to treat me. I asked nurse to wheel me out to lobby, she told me in a snide way; I should invest in an electric wheelchair. unbelievable, and they billed my insurance $4,000 dollars and I paid $100 copay for absolutely nothing. The care that my husband received in the Emergency Room by the nurses, doctors, phlebotomist and others were exceptional. I don't remember many of the names, but a nurse named Michelle was excellent. She covered all the bases ro make sure nothing was missed for his care. We felt that she went above and beyond, and her bedside manner was very direct and clear communication. She listened to our concerns and we could tell that she cared for her patients and it was not just a job for her. Another nurse that was extremely professional and caring was Sharon. Too many people to thank for compassionate nursing during 5 day stay when Curtis broke his hip. Dr. Nayyar was his surgeon and our thanks to the anesthesiologist and to Floyd! From ER to Room18 Curtis was treated with respect and tender care. Thank you to James, Deli, Gabriel, Rachel, Olga, Violeta, Anastasia, and a visit from Jhulail and Michelle. There are so many others who tended Curtis that we didn't catch their names. We were disappointed that physical therapy is not available on weekends and so Curtis was discharged too soon, we think. Ma broke her hip At 7 PM. Through the ER with a diagnosis and Admitted for surgery in about 5 hours. Minimally invasive surgery the next day at noon by doctor Naar. Friendly top-notch care all the way around. The whole family is very glad we took her there. Cudos to the whole staff. Highly recommend. read more

They made my mom wait 7 hours in the emergency room , when i called for an update they told me she was discharged and had walked out when in fact a nurse mistakenly put her back in the waiting room when he was supposed to put her back in a room ! Don't believe the billboard that says 2 minutes for an ER visit. I went on a Tuesday night due to severe muscle spasms. Check in and registration was quick...then came the punch line. Waiting in a room. I was told that there are 28 patients ahead of you with only one physician on duty. And they cant do anything until the doc sees your chart. I left and drove 45 min to ft. Irwin.
