My first visit to Bartaco Coconut Grove was just alright. I really wanted to give this place 5 whole stars, but I just can't and here's why: To be fair, the staff is extremely nice and the service is excellent, but the quality of the food and the horrendous wait time for a table for 2 was sub-par, in my personal opinion. My friend and I planned our visit on a Taco Tuesday, thinking it wouldn't be super packed because the Grove usually isn't during the week - but we were wrong. Not sure if it was because they'd just opened this location and it's a hot new spot for locals to try, or if it was because a bunch of other people had the same idea as us for Tacos on a Tuesday - but either way, we had to wait 35+ minutes for a table for two, and we were starving. With hanger clearly expressed in our faces, the manager gifted us two free apps for the inconvenience, which was a very nice touch. THANK YOU! The food was rushed out of the kitchen shortly after seating, which was also really nice since we had already been waiting so long for the table. A super sweet staff member named Harry came out to greet us after we were seated and explained the use of the dragonfly card and how to use it; while seated, if the card is displayed it means your table requires assistance. If the card is not displayed it means your table is OK. Very cool idea and our server was very attentive to us. Now, I was disappointed with the actual food. The appetizers were pretty basic. The manager gifted us the Trio (Guacamole with two salsas and chips) and an order of the plantains. Then we ordered one of all the tacos on the menu (9 tacos total - we skipped the 3 veggie tacos) and we shared them. Our server missed the Tuna Tataco and replaced it with a special fish taco instead, which I wouldn't have minded except it was extra fishy tasting and I'm not a fan of fish that is prepared that way. This is also the reason why I'm rating Bartaco a 3 star - because that one taco was more expensive than any other taco we ordered and it was not good. Again, in my personal opinion. The Tres Leches dessert was pretty good, however, it wasn't out of this world or much different than your traditional Tres Leches anywhere else. According to Harry, all the food (guac and salsas included) is homemade from scratch - which was a cool concept, but was lacking in the flavor department. The Esquites appetizer was my favorite dish of all the food that we ordered. Harry was nice enough to gift my friend and I some Free Taco coins on our way out, which was nice. I stumbled upon Bartaco on the weekend while visiting coconut grove and I'm happy we chose to eat here. It's such a cute restaurant and the food was delicious! To start, you scan a QR code to view the menu options and you can place your order directly from your phone. The system they use provides different options such as choosing to pay for your own food or covering the bill for the table which is nice because you don't have to figure this out once you're done with the meal. After you've selected what you want the order is sent directly to the kitchen. The waitress was very friendly and checked in regularly to make sure everything was fine. The ambience was super nice, very cozy with nice lighting. They have a regular seating area and the option to sit at the bar with other seating options facing the window looking out to the street. I came here for happy hour and it's a vibe! There is a whole bar area with seating around as well as these seats next to the window, which are perfect for an evening of nice weather. I went around 5pm and the bar area was pretty crowded, but the bar tender was super attentive and was able to take our order quickly. The happy hour menu offers nice food and drink options, one of which is a buy 1 margarita and get a taco deal! I got the spicy marg with the chicken taco and it was delicious! I have been hearing about the tacos at this spot for ages . Bar Taco is the newest spot in Coconut grove. It is next to green street the brunch spot. The place is a vibe ! It's so green and spacious. We also had the pisco sour, watermelon margarita, cazuela, and the Clase Azul flight -- great drink options all around. Came here after going to Bodega and it was packed. We were able to find seats at the bar and order a few things. I like how they have a menu where you can order that way because it is LOUD. Its almost like dimsum style where you can write the number of tacos you wanted. To start we got the guac and chips and it was fresh. Didn't have a lot of seasoning to it. I like a lot of lime which you can ask for more on the side. I got the duck birria and the lettuce lobster taco. Coconut Grove is a lively town day or night. There are all kinds of restaurants and waterfront stores. We were in town for a business meeting, and our host chose Bartaco for lunch. The restaurant is comfortable, airy, and contemporary. We were told by the individual that seating us that we needed to order our lunch by scanning the bar code on the table. We also would also pay for meals the same way. However, I learned later that we could have ordered from a menu if we so chose. Bartaco is a welcome new addition to the Grove. The trendy, Boho interior is bright and comfortable with so many organic elements. Whether you choose to sit inside or grab a spot at the bar, the decor is really quite beautiful. Ordering is a unique experience in itself as you are provided with a card to tally up to number of tacos, bowls and bites for your entire group. The portion sizes are small, almost tapas-like, but at $2.95-$5.95 per taco the prices reflect that and as a result you can order a nice variety of menu items to try and share. I am particularly fond of the Baja Fish and Glazed Pork Belly tacos. The Paloma Fresca is my favorite cocktail especially when made with Mezcal. The churros are outstanding and are served warm and delicious with chocolate and sweetened condensed milk for dipping. The staff, particularly Lealle and James, are friendly, attentive, and make an effort to engage in genuine conversation. It's always a pleasure interacting with the bartenders and managers who go out of their way to ensure your visit is memorable. My only critique would be the dog policy. Despite clear, (and clever), signage on the door asking patrons to leave their furry friends at home, this rule seems widely ignored by customers and not enforced by the staff. I went to Bartaco for the first time in NC and I loved it. I was very happy to hear that they decided to start opening locations in Miami. I finally made my way to the grove location and I was not disappointed. The food and drinks are delicious. The place is also super cute. Great space for a large party or to just sit at the cute bar. The only thing that was slacking was the service. They give you the option order online or to have a server help you. We picked the server but I think that they are so use to people using the online ordering service that they forget about those who did not choose that option. We only came here for a drink late on a Saturday night after we'd already had dinner elsewhere, but after perusing the menu, we'll definitely be back to try the food. The few big things that struck us when ordering drinks here were that, first of all, the prices aren't bad - my cocktail was only something like $10.50, when most better restaurants and bars in the Miami area are charging $15 on average, but also, this place creates every cocktail as it's ordered, using freshly-squeezed juices and ingredients! No mass-produced flavored liquors or overly sweet, flavored syrups, which is what way too many establishments use, likely in an effort to both cut costs and reduce the time it takes their staff to make cocktails - but one can also (quickly) taste the difference in quality, often in a big way. I ordered an orange-flavored cocktail and I watched the guy slice open and freshly squeeze 2 whole oranges to make it, for instance. So drinks were great, prices were reasonable, the staff were extremely friendly - the manager walked over to greet us at the door as we walked in and the bartender/server introduced himself by name as he handed us menus, and we were thanked as we exited. Nice to see Bartaco as the newest addition to the Coconut Grove restaurant and bar scene, and it's open later than many. I visited here for lunch on a Saturday with my best friend. There wasn't a long wait for a table, but the bar area was open, so since we were starving, we sat there. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and given menus along with a quick rundown of the place and its process of food and drinks.
