A Classy, Stress-Free Baptism Lunch at Mamey Miami I hosted my daughter's baptism lunch at Mamey Miami, and I'm still blown away by how seamless and elegant the entire experience was. With only two weeks to plan, Rick--the manager--went above and beyond, helping me craft the perfect menu for 50 people, charging per plate (instead of upselling like most places), and even reassuring me that we could add more food the day of if needed. The staff was genuinely attentive, the space is stunning with its high ceilings, and the food was a hit. We had--fall-off-the-bone ribs, crowd-pleasing ceviche, and great cocktails. Everyone had a blast! I truly can't thank Rick, Manny, and the whole Mamey team enough for making such an important day feel so seamless, tasteful, and beyond memorable.

Food was very good! Service was ok. I thought the staff were friendly, welcoming and informative about the menu....the food took long. With that said - there were only two tables being served at the moment we were there because we were there promptly after opening for brunch at 11:30 am, so not quite sure what was the hold up. When we left there were only 4 tables being served. I would come back - just to try the dinner menu in the hopes that it runs a bit differently. Other than that - food and drinks were actually great. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, decor and music - very "chic" and tropical. The valet staff up front was super nice helpful.

Smoked fish dip -- one of our favorites ever. Came with these crispy, almost cracker-style chips (not pita), and the dip had this zesty, limey flavor which we loved. We'd come back just for that. We went on a Saturday night and unfortunately, the place was dead. Mamey's located inside the THesis Hotel in Coral Gables, and while the actual dining space is beautifully done -- dimly lit, nicely decorated -- the vibe was kinda lifeless. We asked the staff, and they said it's usually like that. Might be due to the location -- you've got to park in a garage, take an elevator, and it's not the most intuitive place to find or get into. That said, service was great. Quick, friendly, and helpful. For food: * Olivia got the shrimp Caesar salad -- super fresh, really well done. * I had the short rib, which was awesome. Came with this little pickled salad situation that balanced the richness perfectly. Would we come back? Yes -- especially if we're in the area or looking for a quiet dinner. Would we bring a group of friends here on a weekend night? Probably not. Just feels too empty for that kind of vibe. But for date night or a chill dinner? Solid pick.

Mamey is such An amazing restaurant. It's located inside a nice hotel in coral gables, with modern decor. Outside and inside dining room, the chef here knows what he's doing. The building of flavors is insane, each dish tells a story in depth. The mussels were de shelled and in a broth with a foot long piece of toast! Everyday we had was absolutely delicious. Must try if you're looking into a nice dinner around coral gables

Mamey Miami is very Miami. Beautiful interior design and decor. Service was top notch by Manny. Hosted super sweet. The appetizers were all delish - tostones, the guava coquette, arepas and sweet plantains with cheese. Mains - Snapper over coconut rice, Waygu burger and hanger steak were all excellent. Desserts were absolute perfection. Each and everyone!

For lunch, my friends and I chose outside seating which was nice. The service was very good, and everything was delightful. For starters, I chose a refreshing peach drink, and shared the guava plantains (pictured) and fried arepas. It was all magnificent. For entrees, we had the grouper with coconut rice that not only was pleasing to the eyes, but also made our taste buds dance. For the amount of food ordered, the cost for a party of three was on the pricey side, but to be expected during these times.

I loveeee Mamey, it's one of my go to spots. The service is reliable and they never disappoint, BUT definitley make a reservation! They're usually always busy. What I love is that their cocktails are great and you honestly cannot go wrong with any appetizer or dish. I like to go to have drinks and order a bunch of appetizers to share. They have the best appetizers ever. THE GRILLED CHEESE IS A MUST! PLUS, they have a super cute rooftop which is perfect for happy hour!

This was quite the delightful experience. From the beginning to the end our service was pristine. We were well taken care of and never felt like a bother to our server. The aesthetic is tropical meets upscale modern. It was quite beautiful to look at. The highlight was the food. The tuna taquitos I will be dreaming about forever. My steak was the perfect temperature and my husband loved his pork. I will definitely be returning when I'm back in South Florida.

My friends surprised me with this for my birthday and to put it simply, it was a very pleasant surprise. Their menu is very small and limited and we were told that they had changed it recently. Even with that being said, everything we ordered was amazing. The appetizers all came out in a timely manner and tasted wonderful. The Ceviche fresh and refreshing, the Croq Mamey came with a sort of guava sauce on the side which added a very nice touch to the plate, and the tostones were amazing with a sauce that came on them which I ordered for the yuca fries with my steak later on. The Hanger Steak was cooked perfectly to temp. One thing i will say is the entrees took about an hour to come out and it didn't seem too busy in the restaurant. It also would've been nice to see some more cocktails included on the list. It seemed like everything was based off almost the same ingredients and none of the drinks really blew me away. It was a very small list and they were out of one the drinks we wanted to try. They do, however, have a full bar and made us a solid espresso martini. Finally, the ambiance inside is what drew my friends to pick this place. It is dim lit and full of greenery located at the bottom of the thesis hotel. I would definitely come back here.

As miami spice '23 season rolled out, I wanted to introduce my mom and sis to one of my Miami favorites: Mamey. Luckily, it didn't disappoint. The spice menu is quite generous. It's severed family style with full dishes off the menu. It was a lot of food, seasoned to the standards of my previous visits and everyone enjoyed throughly. What came out: croquettes, pad Thai, curry grouper, salad, duck friend rice, cheesy toast and the must try rum cake! Hmmm. As long write this I'm tempted to book my next resy. As in prior reviews service was outstanding and there's both a high end interior or more relaxed outdoor breezeway to seat at. It's worth noting that even with UM moving day and an extremely full house, the quality kept up. I can't wait to try his other restaurants. 100% recommend.

I have been wanting to try this Niven Patel's restaurant for a while, so glad I finally got a chance during this year's Miami Spice. The restaurant is located inside a hotel on US1. There's not much parking spots nearby: across the street the parking spots are reserved for park users. You can valet or use the hotel's garage, or if you don't mind walking a block, across the street there's a large metro station parking lot. After reviewing the menu, I was about to give the waitress my choices when she told me that it's family style, so all dishes will be brought out to me. Fine by me as I am more than happy to get to sample everything. The portions are very generous, as you can see from the picture (all for one person!), could have fed another mouth and still not leave hungry. The dishes are delicious, I especially enjoy the watermelon salad, the ribs and the fish with green rice, though the use of spices and seasonings are on the subtle side, maybe to cater to customers not used to bold flavors. For the pad thai and the ceviche especially, I would like the flavors to pop more. Service is very nice, and the lush tropical themed decor makes it a relaxing place to enjoy time with friends.

What a fun little spot! Came in for a drink before calling it a night. Got a Flamingo and was not disappointed. Bright, bubbly, fruity flavors without feeling artificial. Gissette provided incredible, prompt service even with multiple people at the bar. Excellent spot to enjoy a break in the beautiful Miami evening air.

    Jamaican Rum Cake

I've been to Mamay three times - twice for Happy Hour and most recently for their Miami Spice menu. My only complaint are the prices, which are on the higher end, but everything I've tried has been great. For Miami Spice, their menu is served family-style in small servings, and as a vegetarian, I was very happy to see that two out of the four dishes for the appetizers and entrees were vegetarian! My husband has certain food allergies, and they even made accommodations for the dishes - like putting things on the side - for him (rare for Miami Spice!). But because they had two veg options and two non-veg, we were able to split it fairly evenly with plenty for both of us to eat. I had the watermelon salad, white truffle brie grilled cheese, farm vegetable pad thai, and ghee roasted plantains. For dessert, we shared the Jamaican rum cake. The grilled cheese was my favorite, particularly with the delicious mango jam. I also highly enjoyed the watermelon salad and the plantains. The pad thai was also good, but just not as great as the other dishes. The rum cake was incredibly delicious, and even though we were full after the dishes, we still polished it off. We sat inside on the lower level, and the ambiance on a Saturday night was very fun. They had a live music, and people would get up to dance throughout dinner. This is definitely a high-end trendy place, and I saw several people come in from the hotel looking for something more casual, and they ended up turning around. The Happy Hour during the week tends to be more quiet in the lower level, but upstairs on the terrace it was packed and very lively. I've enjoyed every drink I've ordered (even though it's $$$) alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Service is usually great. Only once did we have a pushy waiter during happy hour that tried to get us to stay and order more. For Miami Spice, we thought our waiter was very aware and sensitive to food allergies and food preferences, which we highly appreciated. Keep in mind, parking is in the first floor of the hotel parking garage, which is paid parking.

brussel sprouts were so good now removed from their happy hr, such a shame

Our happy hour is daily, between 3pm-6pm!

    What is the dress code?

I don't think there's a dress code but from what I have seen from my two times being there for dinner, I have seen girls wearing nice dresses, jeans and a nice dress shirt. For guys, I have worn a nice shirt, polo, jeans and a pair of my going out…

What type of live music on Thursday?

When we went on a Thursday, there was casual Spanish music (acoustic guitar style). Might change week to week, but we liked it!!…

What's the dress code, if there is one?

I'd say it's pretty semi-formal – you could go with jeans and a nice shirt if you wanted. Definitely nothing too casual IMO.

Do you need a reservation for the rooftop lounge? Ty

We came on a Thursday night without a reservation, and there was plenty of seating! Can't speak to Fridays or Saturdays personally, but I think you'll be able to get a seat without one :)

We've come here a few times in recent weeks and the place is running nearly the same as it always has for at least a few decades, through changes in drag hosts, management and even changes to this venue's name over those years. We tend to come just before showtime so there's normally always a cover (worth it for the entertainment patrons get to see), friendly bartenders and a drag show featuring talented performers, with at least one normally interacting with patrons and doing comedy during a break in the performances, before opening up the floor for dancing once the show is complete. Azucar isn't located near much of anything else when it comes to nightlife, it's a bit divey - definitely nothing fancy or glamorous, and it's probably not worth the drive from the beach just to check it out, as at least one other reviewer mentioned. Also, all shows and entertainment, aside from lyrics to a few songs here and there are in Spanish with no English translation, so if you don't speak Spanish or have someone who can interpret at least some of the funniest bits that get the most laughs, you may not fully understand what's happening or may feel a bit left out. We were sat immediately and they had a printed sign with our name on it on our table. That was a nice touch. The service was VERY slow! We waited at least 10 minutes before the waiter (Danny/Daniel) ever came over to offer us water. Another 20 minutes later and we still hadn't ordered our food. My friend's iced tea still hadn't arrived. I had to go to the hostess stand and tell them that we'd been there for half an hour and hadn't even ordered yet. We never even saw our waiter during that time. Eventually a manager came over and took our order. I ordered the Hamachi Crudo as my appetizer and the salmon as my entree, and the blueberry lemon cheesecake for my dessert. My friend ordered the same thing, except the cookie as her dessert. My other friend ordered the Cesar salad as her appetizer and the Beauty chicken sando as her entree. The Hamachi was absolutely delicious (but incredibly small). The Cesar salad was HUGE! It was almost 2:30 by the time we got our entrees (1.5 hours after arriving). Our salmons were barely warm, meaning that they had been ready for a while, but they had been left sitting in the kitchen. We had arrived pretty hungry, and since our appetizer was only 3-4 bites, and it'd already been an hour and a half, we weren't about to send our food back to be heated up. The salmon, although not hot, was good. I liked the sauce it came in. It was a little over cooked on the outside. But, overall and well made, tasty dish. My friend liked her chicken sandwich. It came with about 2-4 big "fries". Upon using the ladies room, I discovered that the hand dryer was not working. It was 3pm (2 hours later) when we received our desserts. We had to add more time to the parking meter. The waiter informed us that he couldn't offer us any coffee as the machine was being serviced. The restaurant looks nice. The chairs are comfortable. It's nicely decorated. The music was great- mostly 80's music. All in all, we were pretty disappointed in our experience. As a Michelin Guide restaurant, we expected more. Better/faster service, for sure! A working coffee machine. Hot food. I'm glad I came for Miami Spice. I probably won't be returning. If I do return I'll ask for a different waiter.

From the moment we sat down, the guy looked annoyed that we were there. Zero greeting, zero eye contact. We waited almost 10 minutes just to get acknowledged while he was chatting with another customers at the other end of the bar. When he finally took our order, he barely listened. I asked for a classic Old Fashioned and he brought me something that tasted like watered-down whiskey with too much bitters and a random orange slice thrown in. My friend's whiskey sour was unbalanced -- definitely not worth the $18 price tag. I politely mentioned to recommend us another drinks options he just shrugged and said "we don't have that" Not offer another choice or an apology. The drinks were mediocre at best, but his attitude made it worse. He ignored us most of the night and acted annoyed every time we ordered. Zero professionalism. The place has a great vibe but with service like this, is not worth to spend almost $200 dollars there for few drinks. I don't remember his name but he was tall, Latin and maybe from Colombia. We just wanted to report his behavior to management but in a Saturday's night you just don't want to ruined more. Next.
