Another amazing meal at Bartaco in Coconut Grove! One of our party was celiac / gluten free and Bartaco was very accommodating - they really take cross-contamination seriously and he felt very comfortable eating there. For lunch, we started with the honeydew agua fresa, it had a sprig of rosemary, on ice - it was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and lightly salted with their amazing, large round corn chips. We tried many different tacos; the duck birria with broth, chicken tinga, mojo pork carnitas, pork belly (my friend's favorite), sesame ribeye, seared chorizo, mushroom taco (very good), baja fish (lightly breaded and fried fish), bibb lettuce wrap, yucatan shrimp, and the ahi tuna tatako. There were all amazing! Also good was the kimchi, the spicy cucumber salad (with a slight kick), the esquites with the corn off the cob, and the black beans with sofrito. Our server was great. The vibe here is noticeably different from the Aventura location -- much more of a club atmosphere with a live DJ, which honestly adds a lot of energy to the night. If that's your scene, you'll love it. Food-wise, mostly excellent. The margaritas were great, the plantains are always a hit, and the tres leches was solid -- loved the coconut flavor, just couldn't finish it after everything else. The pork belly tacos are my usual favorite, but this visit they missed the mark slightly -- the pork portion was too big for the taco and the shell had already fallen apart before I could even pick it up. I was very disappointed by my experience at Bartaco in Coconut Grove this past Thursday. Upon arriving to the restaurant my party had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated despite waitlisting over 45 minutes before. Once seated the server Zineb was very kind and welcoming, but unfortunately we had a large cockroach next to us at the table which we notified staff about immediately. We were moved to a new table but no other accommodations were made for the incident. Although the cockroach was off-putting the worst offense of the night was the food itself. My party ordered a variety of tacos as well as appetizers and churros for desert. Once the tacos arrived at the table we had difficulty distinguishing which was which and the staff were also unaware of the exact order, leading to confusion on which taco each of us ordered. Of the tacos I ordered, carne asada, duck and shrimp, I was only impressed by the roasted duck despite its amount of grease on the meat itself. Had an awesome time at Bartaco and I would definitely say BELIEVE THE HYPE! We had a regular of ours that would always come by and invite us to come check out the space and I'm glad we finally did. Upon entering the space, you are transported out of Miami, the space is absolutely beautiful. We sat at the bar and ordered their house Margarita and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. Our bartender J, was squeezing fresh limes specifically for the Margarita and that adds to how amazing and delicious this space is and the intent they put behind their product. They make all their sauces and their food in house and their house hot sauce is FIRE, both figuratively and literally and they sell it to go as well. Bartaco is such a great spot in the Grove. On a nice day, they open the windows of the first floor bar and it is the perfect spot to crush margaritas and people watch. One thing I love about Bartaco is that they use fresh juices for everything. You can taste the difference in their drinks because of this. They have "high tide hour" aka happy hour weekdays from 3 - 6 and also the last 1.5 hours before close on Monday - Thursday which is awesome. That includes bites, and select drinks for under $10. If you pop in here during the week, the bar is also a solid place to work from if it's not super busy. They have outlets which is clutch and of course - close proximity to tacos. Bartaco is awesome for groups because of the way that you can order via the QR code so you can have multiple tabs under one table making paying a breeze. Be mindful tho that the food comes out as it is made, so it can get mildly hectic if you forgot what you ordered and a bunch of things are coming out at once. This location is huge - with an upstairs that has a bar, as well as an outdoor area that has a bar and is great for hanging. They have a DJ on the weekends for the vibes. I'd say this is a great spot to have a casual bite and drinks with friends. My fave things are the ribeye, pork belly, and baja fish tacos, guac and salsas, and their mezcal margarita. One extra shout out is that if you are on a sober-curious journey, they make amazing mocktails. I didn't want to drink yesterday when I popped in, but I asked the bartender if he could make me a spicy watermelon marg without tequila and wow - it was amazing. I love the ambiance of this place and they have a beautiful outdoor area which I recently discovered. The service was relatively quick, but it was pretty empty. I've seen the service be slower during busier times. My favorites are the pork belly tacos, sesame ribeye, ahi tuna tatako and the Baja fish taco in that order. The chorizo taco was surprisingly good. We also got the tamale and it was good as well. The duck birria was alright, good to have a bite but nothing too special. This was our first time here ar bartaco. When we first came in, we were greeted by Heather. She was so welcoming and sweet! When we sit down our waiter was Clark ( i think that was his name)and made some great recommendations The passion fruit oaxacan margarita was amazing. I had the duck taco, shimp taco and ribyeye tacos. My friend truly enjoyed the ribyeye and I enjoyed the duck taco. The tacos are small, but I was getting full with the two that I ordered. I also eat the chips and guacamole. And for dessert, we had homemade churros, they were freshly made and delicious. This restaurant is so beautiful, with lots of plants and high ceilings. I've visited bar taco a couple times throughout the years. I love that it has always stayed consistent. My favorite thing about it is the different options of protein for their tacos. The tacos are flavorful and don't lack ingredients. Every time I've gone, it's packed, yet the food comes out at a timely manner. The music is always bumping. Getting to the bathroom is a bit annoying because you have to get thru a plethora of people. That would probably be my only thing haha. I feel like this spot is good for pre/post event drinks, night out with friends, coworkers, maybe even your girl.
