Bartaco has a dining experience unlike most places. There's a lot of room for seating when walking here, it's definitely a good place for bigger crowds on the weekend. Ordering here is through the web browser, something I have never heard of until recently. It's unique as it's like ordering at the bar, you keep a tab open until you close it out. You order as much as you want and the website keeps track of it for you. Definitely no wait if it's busy and you need to flag down a server. I like it. This place is definitely meant for tapas, or small appetizers/bites. They aren't meant to fill you up but if you are by yourself, you'd be better ordering at least 3-5 tacos as the portions are small. It's more suited for groups as people just order so many tacos and everyone shares what they have. It's a great communal experience. I got Salsa Roja and Chips to start off with. They came out pretty quick. While I was a bit intrigued by how big the chips were, they were sturdy and kept their structure as I scooped the Salsa onto my chips. Slight kick but it won't make you sweat. It's a great starter. Then came the tacos and I will honestly say that the fusion tacos really work well here. They are extremely good. I got the Brisket Taco which was my favorite taco of them all. It's tequila spiked brisket served with spicy pickled onions and a habanero hot sauce. It was probably made so well that I ended up getting it twice. The second taco I got was the glazed pork belly. It's pork belly that's been braised but caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze with cilantro and pickled red onions. It's a tad sweet but it's also very savory. It's a bit fatty because it's pork belly but so delicious. The third taco I got was the Sesame Ribeye which is pretty much what if Bulgogi was in a taco form. It's shaved ribeye beef marinated in a sweet sesame-soy sauce topped with spicy kimchi and cilantro. This was also so good but I did not order more. I also got the spiced chicken verde taco too. Chicken in chile and herb marinated topped with aguacata salsa? It was not too spicy but enough spice to feel something. I really enjoy Bartaco. I was meeting 2 friends that I hadn't seen in sometime so we all decided on Bartaco. What stood out to me as we were leaving the restaurant was...what a fabulous "experience" we had. I got to thinking on the way home what made it feel extra special...The food was great, the surroundings, noise level was good but what kept standing out to me was our server Emily. Because we had different requirements (vegetarian, meat lover, gluton free) it was such a pleasure to have someone REALLY know the menu. We had no idea what to order and didn't want to spend 15 min figuring it all out. Emily was able to give us an excellent description of each item, what was good to share, what sides were included, how many we should order for the table etc. She had that special talent that so few staff seem to have now...she knew not to be overbearing but at the same time, check in frequently to see how we liked our orders. Her demeanor and presence set the tone for the lunch. I can't wait to go back as the food was so fresh and tasty with a wide variety of offerings but I think we may check to see if Emily is there before we head over! This was an unexpected drop in for lunch. I was able to sit immediately at the bar and they have the best lunch special 3 tacos and a side for approx. $13! The street tacos were surprisingly filling as they were loaded with the goods. The service was quick and efficient for the bar. The vibes are good for a time out with friends or a quick lunch date. Excellent cocktails and top-notch service. The atmosphere is amazing , evoking the sensation of being at a posh beach bar on a luxurious vacation getaway. Their new happy hour menu, named the high tide menu is available on weekdays from 3-6 pm at the bar. When I came in for this deal I noticed that some items on this menu offer no discount whatsoever. Specifically, the prices for small bites match those on the regular menu, failing to reflect any discount during happy hour. There are however discounted prices for the cocktails listed on their happy hour menu. I had the Cazuela and the Fuego de Pina cocktails, both expertly crafted and quite delicious. Yet, the Cazuela stole the show with its perfect blend of grapefruit juice and orange flavors. The tacos, while tasty, are on the smaller side. I'd suggest ordering at least 4-5 per person if not pairing them with a snack. Overall, I'd certainly consider returning, although I hope they'll introduce unique food deals during happy hour that differ from the regular menu. read more

Well, I gave BarTaco another shot...and, well, I was impressed! Sitting at the bar and enjoying a perfect Mojito only had a little to do with my five star assessment on this round :-) As I learned, the only way to truly appreciate BarTaco is to sit down, relax, and be treated as a valued customer. As mentioned, the Mojito was perfect with the right balance of rum, mint, lime, and sugar. People were friendly - both fellow customers as well as staff. Unlike with my to go order from my previous review, my tacos were not half empty. This time, the Pork Belly and Squash Blossoms were more than the right amount for the taco shell...and full of flavor. I also ordered a 4 pack build-it-yourself pack of Chicken Verde tacos for later. I visited Bartaco on a weekday during lunch and we ended up waiting about 10 minutes for a table because the weather was beautiful. I noticed before we went that you can actually get on the waitlist ahead of time. We were greeted shortly after sitting from one of the managers that introduced herself and gave us a run down of what to expect and how to order. There was a QR conveniently located on the table that gave you the menu and you also ordered through it. The speed in which the food came out was impressive. I ordered the pork belly taco and the cauliflower taco. They are definitely the same size as an authentic Mexican taco so it's only a few bites. With that said, they were both fabulous. I preferred the pork belly, but the veggie option was great too. We also ordered the plantains and they cooked as close to perfect as they could be. I have to admit a fun concept. The folks who work here are very friendly. Every time I've felt welcomed, and it's a good spot for a date night. You can order with a QR code, which is odd, but I'm learning to adjust to it. Also you can put a card up and have a server handle it regular style. Definitely A plus service. The beer selection is limited. My recommendation is DC Brau. The food is fairly expensive, but the quality is high. They have a number of small but unique tacos to choose from. My usual choices are pork belly, duck, and fish. I could be incorrect but I think the fish tacos are cod. They are my favorite of all. Definitely go here, but do be prepared for it to be busy. Bar Taco in Mosaic is a great casual place for lunch.  Once you get used to ordering by the app - it is all very easy.  And, if you would rather use paper and pencil, they are just fine with that as well.  In fact, we found our server to be more than helpful explaining either one of these methods.  The tacos are a good size and not that expensive so we normally find ourselves splitting a variety of six different ones.  Add on top of this a large guac and chips , side of street corn (messy but good) and some tasty desserts and everyone is happy.  Our favorite tacos were the glazed pork belly,  baja fish and pistachio and cauliflower.  All of these had a lot of flavor.  The desserts at Bar Taco come in little mason jars.  My favorite is the key lime pie and the favorite of the table was the tres leches.  Either way, you can't go wrong.  Sitting inside with the outside sunshine and breeze coming in from the patio is our ideal.  Sitting outside is also great when the weather is mild.  There is plenty of free parking at any of the nearby garages read more

It was packed so I sat at the bar. I ordered the Oaxacan Sunshine for drinks and what impressed me is that the drinks are freshly made. There's no purees or jugs of stuff being poured into your drinks here. You're going to see the bar staff squeezing the life out of fresh fruits to make your drinks. I ordered a variety of tacos and some street corn. All were delicious. I think my favorites were the Baja fish and sesame ribeye. Of course, I had to get the key lime pie. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. Some things to note...Ordering at Bartaco is pretty simple. They have paper menus where you can select what you want and how many. The only thing that sucked about this was that they brought my dessert out with my food. The staff were kind enough to put my dessert in the fridge until I was ready for it. Wow, we absolutely loved our first visit to Bartaco. Whenever we pass by, this place is ALWAYS popping and now I know why! It was probably 9pm on a Monday and this place was still almost full. That being said, we were seated quickly at a table outside (a little quieter). Ordering from the QR code was super easy and the food came quickly. I really love the no muss no fuss ordering system and the way that you can flag down some help by just putting the little bartaco card up. We got the pork belly tacos, fish tacos, steak tacos, and street corn. The pork belly tacos were the star (we ended up re-upping a few more). Went to Bartaco for dinner and drinks on Cinco de Mayo. It was wildly busy (but probably because of the day we went!), and we will definitely be going back! Service: The waitlist check-in situation with the app was funky. You have to check in at the stand within 30 minutes of putting your name on the list and they're supposed to update you on the wait time when you do. When I checked in, I asked if they could give me the time estimate and it was still an hour. Given the day, we expected the wait would be a while, but I'm not sure how much i think checking in on the app ahead helps. You order on the app, but it's much smoother of an app ordering process than most places. You can even join your party so multiple people can order on their phones but have one single check. We had a server who checked on us periodically, but the food and drinks were all delivered by various staff members. So there wasn't really service by one person. Food/drinks: The drinks were very good! And not overpriced for being "fancier" cocktails. The food was good. The pork belly was out of this world! So amazing. Perfectly crispy outside, tender meat, soft and flavorful fat. The glaze was perfect. The steak was a little salty and the cauliflower had too much sauce (more sauce than cauliflower which overpowered everything else), but they were all still very good. The corn off the cob is amazing, so is the guac. Although, the small guac is definitely overpriced for the amount you're given. I do really miss the rock shrimp tacos that aren't on the menu anymore.
