I get takeout from this location every so often. The food is always good whatever I order. Yesterday I got a few usual items like the guacamole and Chitty Wok chicken and I also tried some new items such as the queso with chorizo, juju da burger and cookies and cream churros - all outstanding. And it was all packaged in a reusable bag. It was the first time that I used their Toast app and I had trouble with it using the guest option. I had tried to post a tip on it for the employees but by the time I was forced to create an account and tried to pay, the tip did not record.... It was quite busy on a Saturday 11:30/12- they have a small indoor dining area, so it's a bit cramped but the food is good. Taco Bamba was a pleasant surprise. I love Mexican but it's typically all the same. When we walked in they had music blasting Wu Tang Clan. Then Beastie Boys. I was instantly excited! They had a nice assortment of cocktails and a great happy hour. We chose peach margaritas and they did not disappoint! Their tacos are very unique. They are twists on other dishes. I chose the, "Let me speak to the manager" taco which was a Gyro taco. I also chose the Hocc's Hog which was a pork taco. They were both incredibly delicious. I have tried a few other Taco Bamba locations and was excited to find that this Fairfax location offered three varieties of vegetarian tacos. I tried all three: Spicy Shroom - 4.5/5: Spicy with great texture from the mushrooms. Fairfax 4-Way - 3.5/5: The Brussels sprouts and granola had good flavor, but the taco felt a bit underwhelming overall. Mr. Chow - 2/5: A few cauliflower florets were too mushy, while others were undercooked. There was very little flavor. I had hoped it would taste like the Iron Mike taco that was discontinued at the Vienna location, but I was disappointed. I was craving tacos because the week prior, I was having some of the best tacos in Las Vegas. To fix that, I stopped by Taco Bamba for some taco cravings. I decided to be adventurous and get a sampler of some of the tacos that interested me. I got the following: Al Pastor, Birria, Pollo Al Carbon, Carne Picada, and Carne Asada paired with a nice cold Corona beer. Honestly they were all good but my favorite would have to be the Carne Asada and the Al Pastor. There's nothing like simplicity with these two tacos. It wasn't too busy so I had enough time to sit down and enjoy my tacos. If it was a Friday night? Maybe it'd been a different experience. Luckily that wasn't the case. We were opting for something quick for our first night's dinner in Fairfax and found this Taco Bamba location nearby. We opted for four tacos: Carne Asada, Tinga, Pescado & Chorizo. I found their Chorizo to be way too dry, and I had to seriously douse it with salsa to add some moisture to the taco. As for the Pescado, I found a hair on the side of my tortilla, which completely killed my appetite. There is limited indoor dining tables available, as well as some heated outdoor seating as well. Food is great, likely like any other taco bamba out there. I haven't been to any other but I'd assume they're all similar with the exception of some specialty tacos being different at each location. Personally I always get the chity wok chicken and cactus jack. My wife likes the robinson ramen too. Service there is great, they are pretty quick and tell you an estimate on how long it will take. My only negative about the place is how its all setup. Those ordering takeout stand by the door waiting and to order there you have to go deep into the restaurant. So during peak times, there be be a lot of traffic of people just standing around and you're not sure whos waiting for food vs waiting to order. read more

Located in the University Mall shopping center, it was easy to find parking in the lot. It is a fairly small shop with limited seating inside and a few tables outside. They do have those outdoor heaters for the winter. Most tacos are priced around $4 these days but they are pretty generous in terms of the filling and they do double wrap the tacos. Last time I went they were also offering free coffee with any purchase, all day long. I like they have water stations inside and outside. I've tried: -taco bamba - ground beef in spicy seasoning - has some kick, plenty of flavor, ground beef was a bit dry though -carne asada - beef chunks with onion and cilantro - beef was pretty dry when I last had it, but good flavor -lengua - beef tongue with onion and cilantro - this was actually my favorite, it has a lot of natural rich beef flavor and it pairs well with the onion and cilantro The tacos have a lot of flavor, meats could be less dry. Corn tortillas are marginally better than store bought ones in terms of thickness and flavor. I think for people who can't stand cilantro, they should have a parsley option. They do have some vegetarian options though. They also have various other Mexican options besides tacos as well as alcoholic cocktails. Overall: A good taco joint for grab and go or with a small group. Most of the employees there were very friendly and helpful in getting us the right order. Do wish the place was a little better kept and that the menus could be seen closer to the cashier. The menus also are a little hard to read. Can feel claustrophobic at times. They've opened several locations since and I've noticed they just don't have that same quality. I order takeout from here semi-regularly, and it always turns out really good! This is definitely my go to place for tacos in the northern Virginia area. The only other place I might recommend over it is bartaco, but the tacos at Taco Bamba are much more affordable and are a bigger portion size. I typically order the Chity Wok Chicken taco, which has fried sesame chicken in it with candied peppers and rice. It is absolutely delicious, and one of the most creative tacos I've ever eaten. I've also had the Al Pastor taco, the Arabe, the Carnitas taco, and the granddaddy fish OG, and they are also very good, but I would say my favorite is definitely the Chity Wok Chicken taco. For sides, I usually get the grilled Mexican street corn, and it is very flavorful and consistently good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for tacos that are relatively inexpensive for their portion size, and are tasty as well. Moist pork, complimentary flavors and that soft flour tortilla was the best. Chorizo This is the driest taco of them all. They cooked the chorizo so overdone that it could've been dust. Even salsa would not give it enough moisture to fix it. The tortilla was also very dry and almost cooked to a fried chip state. Cactus Jack The shrimp were overcooked. I'm a hometown seafood girl so I'm really picky on what I consider perfectly cooked shrimp. The topping overpowered the taco and the ratio of toppings to shrimp was way off. Hard pass on this one. Mexican Grilled Corn on the cob This was excellent! Perfect ratio of toppings on the street corn. I loved that it wasn't burnt as most places tend to do. Well done!
