That you are continually out of any of the medication's that I need. They do not follow up with the doctors or anybody. I continually have to go in and ask for my medication only to find out that they already put it back never gave me a notification. They say oh will order it and then it doesn't come in, it's absolutely horrible. They told me you need prior authorization from the insurance company. I called the insurance company they show me that it's been two weeks since they had given authorization. My insurance actually had to call the pharmacy to inform them it's approved, so I could get my medicine. read more

Today, I went to buy Allegra D- they wouldn't give it to me in the drive thru- fine. Then inside, the register kept declining the order and the recommendation was to go to another pharmacy -- is that a joke? I have to be honest. This place has REALLY cleaned up it's act. Isaiah (tech) was the king pin that made this place wonderful to return to. All of the pharmacists are amazing but I really miss the one from Bavaria that used to be here. My family and I had our Flu and COVID shots today. I was able to make the appointments online and filled out all the paperwork which was super easy. We showed up, the pharmacist took our names, we waited maybe 10 minutes. Lianna was the pharmacist who helped us. She had all our vaccines ready. She took each one of us into the consultation room, gave us our shots one right after the other and we were heading out the door within 25-30 minutes. She was knowledgeable, friendly, gentle (I don't like shots), professional, and kind. I highly recommend getting your immunizations here. read more

I had a prescription and it was a pain to wait in line. I was the next person after waiting 10 minutes but the only person at the counter had to tend to a drive-thru. That person had 3 prescriptions to pick up. I waited and waited while there were other workers there and someone finally asked me if I was helped. I said no and told me that she'd get someone. I couldn't wait any longer because I had to pick up my kid. I left after waiting in line for over 20 minutes. I had to go back on Saturday morning to pick it up. Thank goodness that was much easier but still...what an inconvenience. S.O. had a similar experience where the meds weren't even ready after waiting 20 minutes. One star for at least getting the meds right. I must remember to change pharmacy. This will be my last time here for pharmacy needs. I say this when I started waiting at 512pm on a Wednesday and it's already 522pm without any line movement. One person working at the counter, again... UGH...don't go here. read more

Don't bother getting your photos printed at Bartells. I needed some printed on two different occasions at two different locations. The first time was using the in-store computer and the second was online. This store got my order from online at 10:30am. I came to pick it up at 3:30 and the staff said the computer had been frozen all day and probably needed to be restarted. Why couldn't they call me to tell me that? So, when I showed up five hours later, my order was frozen in the same situation as it was in the morning. The staff said that they could turn off the computer and I would have to resend my order, which was challenging because the website is not super user-friendly. I wanted 5x7 and it took all 85 of my photos and defaulted them 4 x 6 so I had to manually change each one. I decided to try another Bartels but again the website went down and then 15 minutes later I received a phone call from the first Bartel saying that my order was automatically printing. So I guess I got it but much later than expected. The store carries great local items but the staff is just ridiculously unskilled. For example, I wrote this review while waiting to be acknowledged to pick up my photos. The cashier instead checked out 3 people and went to stocking candy before seeing me. read more

Wanted to thank Bartells in Renton Highlands for hiring Andre, who works in the pharmacy. His customer service is second to none! I use an inhaler and typically order a refill 7 days in advance. I ordered my last refill on a Friday afternoon and was told it wasn't in stock and would be ordered Friday and should arrive Monday. On Monday I got a call from Andre telling me it hadn't arrived in their Monday shipment. When I talked with Andre on Tuesday, he said it still hadn't arrived and that there appeared to be a problem with their warehouse. On Wednesday I was starting to panic...had only 2 days left on my current inhaler. Andre and I talked again. He said their daily shipment hadn't arrived yet, but he would check as soon as it did and let me know. He understood how concerned I was and offered that if it wasn't in the day's shipment he would find a pharmacy that had it. It arrived on Wednesday! We BOTH were very happy! Andre's empathy and follow up were OUTSTANDING and I told both him and the pharmacist just that. (I also suggested that he should get a bonus for all the work he did.) His people skills and dedication to helping customers are terrific. Am breathing a sigh of relief (both literally and figuratively)! read more

Awful Pharmacy! First off-they are always busy-there is always a line, no matter what time I go. I went in recently to get a Flu Shot. Their website said, Walk-Ins welcome, so I drove over only to be told, 'uhhhh we don't do that, we got an email today', yes, that was about all I got out of him. So left without vaccine, however they still have the 'walk-ins welcome on their site. I also tried to confirm my prescriptions were ready, prior to waiting in the line. The phone rings forever, then you have to leave a vm. They don't call back-had to call again, went through the same thing, only this time, their mailbox was Full. Some of these meds are life-saving. I can't believe the Service. I guess that is a off-shoot of going from Local to Corporate...sigh. read more

The staff at this pharmacy/store are clearly suffering from compassion fatigue/burnout; as a result, they are dismissive, unfriendly, unhelpful, and discriminatory. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Isaiah at the pharmacy who has previously treated my sister terribly (told her he didn't have her insurance on file, that she must pay cash, or get out of line). She was not able to get her medication on several occasions. I went to this pharmacy to help my sister obtain her desperately needed medication - she is very ill. He wore a frown or smirk on his face throughout the interaction. As my sister walked toward the pharmacy to join me, a staff woman working at the front register chased her down an aisle asking her if she could help her find something and followed her even after my sister told her she was headed to the pharmacy. Then as we were leaving together, the same woman asked me if everything was okay. I told her, "this is my sister and we're fine". I believe that if you loathe people or your job this much you should probably move on to another profession. read more

I've been using this Bartell's pharmacy location (on NE 4th in Renton) for over 20 years. It used to be a very efficient location, filling prescriptions in a timely manner, informing you if there were issues, etc. Since the acquisition of Bartell's by Rite Aide, all of that efficiency has been lost. Recently, my son had a prescription sent over on a Thursday. Four days later we had a call that they needed to order the medicine. (FOUR DAYS!!!) Went in on the 6th day, and found out that the medicine was never ordered. Pharmacist was rude, making excuses for it not being ordered. Thought our insurance wouldn't fill it anyway as it was not time for refill. (It was greater than 90 days.) Went in on day 9, as I had a prescription for myself to pick up. My prescription was ready but not my son's. Once again, they had to check inventory to see if they had enough to fill. Fortunately they did, but still had to wait an hour for that to happen. This is no the only instance of incompetence by this pharmacy. There have been several. A friend's son recently completed pharmacy school, during which he did a internship at this location. He stated he would never work at this location, because, in his words, it was a mess there. I can see why he thought this. I, for one, am moving all my prescriptions after 20+ years . Short review: This is the perfect place to send your enemies. They are so incompetent they could literally kill someone. Long review: A couple months ago my cat was prescribed some medication that wasn't in stock at the veterinary pharmacy where I work. I chose to go the human pharmacy route so I could start the meds sooner. When I went to pick up the medicine, they only had 12 of the 16 pills prescribed. The label said 16, I paid for 16 and the pharmacy tech straight up told me I would get the other four next time. I thought that was weird (and also against the law as label must be correct). But easy solution and fine by me. Since then I've been ordering the medication at work. $3 for a 30 count bottle. Yay for me. Fast forward to this month and now the medication is back-ordered. I fax a refill to Bartell's for 30 pills. I go pick it up, pay $25 and head home. $22 dispensing fee is perfectly reasonable. When I get home I open the bottle and there are only 8 pills. I look at the prescription label. It says 8 pills. They had also screwed up the number of refills and omitted part of the doctor's signatura (instructions on how the medication is to be administered). The next day I take a copy of the prescription and the bottle back to the pharmacy. I'll admit I'm a bit unimpressed. Even in veterinary medicine we have a second person check all medication and labels for accuracy and sign off for accountability before it's dispensed. Errors like this do not fly. The pharmacy tech was fine about fixing it and since he was the one who shorted me the four pills, I mentioned that too. He was perfectly pleasant and went off to fix things. After about ten minutes the pharmacist herself came out of the back room and told me I owe $87. How do I owe $87? Because that's the price for 30 pills. $84 dispensing fee aside, how do you figure I owe you for 30 pills? Eight of the pills in the bottle are the ones I paid for yesterday and just handed back to your pharmacy tech. ??????? I told her I was unhappy with the $84 mark-up and asked her to please give me the 12 pills I've already paid for and I'll be on my way. Ms. Pharmacist went on some tangent about how "we must have a different supplier" trying to justify the $84 mark-up on $3 worth of medication. Gimme a break. Could you just give me the twelve pills please? The pharmacist then started to argue with me about the four pills I was shorted. She said that it couldn't have happened and delivered a diatribe about their computer system, the difference between how insurance and cash transactions are processed, etc. At this point she was basically calling me a liar and telling me that never could have happened. She actually used the word "impossible". Something like it's impossible that a different number of pills were dispensed than charged for. Deep breath. Let me explain this again, Ms. Pharmacist. The rx label said 16 pills and I paid for 16 pills. A human being put 12 in the bottle. It may have been lazy. It may have been against protocol. It may have been illegal. But clearly it's not physically impossible and it has NOTHING to do with your computer system. Silence. Bingo, I think she's got it! At this point in time she just wanted to get rid of me (finally!) so she said she would give me the four "extra" pills to be "done with this". Great. You could have done that ten minutes ago. Ms. Pharmacist didn't bother to create a prescription label that was accurate. She just stuck 12 pills in the bottle labeled 8 and handed it to me. It's ironic how hard she argued that this type of thing would never happen when she herself just intentionally sent mislabeled medication out the door. At no time did Ms. Pharmacist express any care or concern that her staff (or she herself) had made up a prescription label that had three pretty significant errors on it and sent a patient with the wrong quantity of medicine. Get your medication filled elsewhere. read more

Visited this pharmacy a few times and each and every time I had a terrible experience. Not only do you have to wait a long time to receive any help, they are rude and have poor customer experience skills. I also dropped off a prescription recently before my vacation and three weeks later came back to pick it up as they assured me they would fill it by then and when I came to pick it up not only was it NOT filled after waiting in line for 20 min, they said they aren't sure if they have any in stock. Been waiting over 2 weeks to have my prescription filled. Second problem: they won't answer the phone or even respond to a fax. I tried to call Bartells corporate office- got put on hold for over 5 minutes, then hung up on. Update: I found out today that they actually did fill it, but it wasn't included in my online profile so there was no way to know that it was filled since they don't answer the phones or respond to my fax. I finally went inside today (drive through is inexplicably closed for weeks) and there were 5 people working behind the pharmacy counter so I cannot figure out why they won't answer the phone or open the drive-thru. While I like coming in to shop and support local, I extremely dislike their Pharmacy and its staffs. The 1 star is strictly just for the Pharmacy since the cashiers are always friendly every time I walk in. The drive thru Pharmacy is horrible. They might be short handed, seem to be the case every time though, the wait is so long. They do not give you any acknowledgements that they know you are waiting and just not come to the window. When you walk in, the service isn't much better. There is always a delay for the medication. It has nothing to do with refill availability or insurance verification. They said they are simply busy. What I hate the most is they give you an estimate of wait time like an hr but after hours, they said tomorrow then when you go bk the next day, they still tell you not ready, since they are behind. I feel like a lot of time is wasted on both side. They spent time to look it up the record every time I go and I had to make multiple trips. Not sure why the store manager or higher up doing anything about their process. They advertise themselves as friendly neighborhood pharmacy but they are not very customer friendly this way. I would give this pharmacy a 0 star if I could. This is the second time I am complaining. The first time we waited about 6 hours for our medication when they said it was done, then they gave us the wrong medication. This is second time I am complaining about this. Our son needed his medications because we just came from the ER the manager Tereasa Tanchonco was very rude. They sent us to another bartells saying that they had our medications because they didn't have any in stock. We went to the other pharmacy and they didn't have it. I called them and asked why. She said she has no idea and did not want to help me but instead was being very rude and had a sassy attitude because her employees were confused about our medications. We went back and forth with no solution. I do not recommend this pharmacy to anybody. I also witnessed a lady in front of me being yelled at because she thought her medications were ready but they weren't and she was just confused, Ashley went on to tell her to fix her own problems and call her doctor. I was shocked , then it wa say turn to be disrespected once again by this pharmacy and their staff. I am in disbelief and will no longer come here or recommend this to the clinic I work for. This place is the WORST. I recently had some meds that were mixed up. This pharmacy doesn't check the name that they were the were the ones prescribed. Today I Also o had an issue with a simple thing like trying to buy a simple scale for weighing myself that works. Also don't go until you have a lot of extra time to deal with the constant problems with the cash registers. Recently I couldn't even buy a magazine because it wouldn't scan. I had to just leave it behind because nobody could figure out how to charge me for it. It just took too long and I didn't have all day. Even though it's close by my house, I won't go there again. I am currently waiting in line at the pharmacy for the 4th time in two days, for the same prescription. The previous afternoon, I received a text message that my prescription was ready. When I arrived, I was informed that it would be another hour, as they were running behind (this occurs frequently). I did not have the time, so I stated that I'd come back later. Upon my return 3 hours later, I was informed that my medication was nowhere to be found. After angrily asking them how that could even happen, the teenage clerk admitted that they in fact gave it to someone else. Since being acquired by Rite Aid, this pharmacy location has seen its service level hit rock bottom. They are understaffed, always behind, and borderline incompetent. I am switching my pharmacy to another company, once I track down my life-sustaining medicine that mysteriously disappeared. I cannot bear with them, hoping that they'll get it together. read more

The pharmacist have no social skills. Perhaps the world in which they work has soured them. Ive been with bartells for years in Tacoma on 6th and 2 months ago moved close to this location on 4th in Renton. They see my history, i have my entire family going and the rx my doctor sent them today was a Bridge Therapy of pain meds. I have been on pains meds (and my husband) forever and never was treated as poorly as this place did today. They called my doctor and told my doctor they would not completely fill it. I am "grandfathered" in to these pain meds but this pharmacist told my doctor what to do!! And they didnt even include me. So...it's back to Tacomas Bartells. I had to find a new pharmacy because the one I was using started to charge for delivery. That's the only reason I had my records moved to Bartell Drugs in Renton on 4th St. Boy was that a mistake! They're awful. I called my prescription in on Monday, and I STILL haven't received it. It's now Wednesday. It does NOT take this long to refill a prescription. And I need it by Friday. Which means, they have to call me on Thursday so I can schedule with Access to pick up my prescription. I'm so irritated with them. They need to do better. The people who work at the pharmacy act like they should be working at fast food. I swear they don't know what they're doing. read more

Absolutely the worse service. I called in for a refill that was suppose to be ready by 10AM the next day. Went down to there the next day and the response that I received was that we have nothing in the system and they can put it in now but it would take 4-5 hours. There excuse was that it's a system issue and they are behind on filling their prescription. This is the same line they used last month when I had to wait for the refill. I have had it with Bartell/Rite Aid. Never had this problem prior to Rite Aid buying Bartell. Now all I get are excuses and rudeness. I am sick and tired of it. How long does it take to resolve the system issue? Over a month? That's not acceptable. People are depending on being able to pickup their medication. Peoples lives depends on medication. If your system is not functioning then notify the people and tell them to go somewhere else. DO NOT pretend you are able to provide a service that you are unable to meet when people's lives are dependent on it. Someone should make a formal complaint the Better Business Bureau. Enough ranting the only way to make them understand is to hit them where it hurts..the bottom line. I am taking my business elsewhere and when they lose enough customers and become unprofitable then maybe they will make an effort to address the issue. read more

Just awful. Ordered my Rx that needed to be refilled online. Checked the next day and it's still "in progress". Called and entered the rx # said not ready yet, that they would connect me to the pharmacy, hung up on me. I called back and it just rang and rang, then it came on to say hold please, then it connected me to a voice mail and said at this time you cannot leave a message, mailbox is full. I have a love/hate relationship with this Bartell's, leaning quite heavily towards hate. 9 times out of 10, there is some struggle with the prescription. Either they forgot to apply insurance and I need to come back later, or they can't accept a coupon for my pet (but Costco doesn't seem to have any trouble for the same coupon), or they forgot to call to say they don't have the medication in stock. I think the only reason we keep coming is it's the closest pharmacy to us, and the Walgreen's nearby is rude in addition to being incompetent. Today it was my dog's seizure medication. She told me she couldn't accept the coupon, there were no other options, I had to pay full price. I called GoodRx, and he gave me a very simple solution to her roadblock, but I'm done. I'm taking the prescription elsewhere. If there is ANY other pharmacy closer to you, go there. read more

It's been a year since I wrote my 1 star google review. I wanted to see if this pharmacy has cleaned up their act since my terrible experience last year and due to all of the comments, it seems that it has gotten even worse from what I had to deal with. How has no one from Rite Aid or any higher up come to this establishment to correct it's egregious behavior? You can have mistakes but when it comes to peoples lives and on a daily basis, leaving this establishment to proceed the way it is WILL eventually kill someone, and that will be on Rite Aid's hands for neglecting to do anything about it.
