This location has been horrible since rite aid took over. Aisle are bare - literally bare. Not just the occasional "oops they're out of deodorant". As in there are entire aisles with NOTHING in the shelf. They're massively understaffed, too, leading to big lines at the pharmacy and checkout counters, frustrated customers, and sad flustered employees doing their best but who have clearly been given a big "F U" by the corporate bean counters. It's almost like they *want* this location to fail so they can close it, blame rEtAiL ThEfT, and then get a big tax write off. Oh, and the prescription take back box is always locked. It requires no employees to operate so you'd think it would be functional, but nope. I hope that when the Safeway is done being remodeled maybe this will drive some competition that will cause this location to improve a bit...but I'm not hopeful read more

Also this is the first shot I've gotten out of 5 where I didn't have a reaction and I'm actually fearing they didn't actually give me the COVID vaccine but something else or possibly nothing. My doctor send a prescription and they just didn't fill it because it wasn't on "auto renew"... so I've been waiting weeks for this prescription. To top it off they didn't even have the supplies so they had to order it, delaying this entire ordeal further. read more

If you need a pharmacy, save yourself and go somewhere else. I have used Bartell's pharmacies for over 20 years, and this location is by far the worst I've ever experienced. Good luck getting ahold of them ever. I have called countless times with zero response. Be ready to wait in ridiculously long lines, to then have to wait even longer for them to prepare your prescription. This has happened to me numerous times- I've received the automated text saying my rx was ready for pickup, only to be told "15-20 min" before it's ready. That 15-20 minutes is usually much much longer than that. The workers move at a glacial pace, even when the line is over 10 customers long. Zero urgency for people needing medication. This is specifically for the pharmacy. The lines have been absolutely unacceptable. Snaking all the way toward the back of the store. I have come at different times of the day hoping to avoid a line and there is always a ridiculous line, often just one person working one cash register while there are two. I don't know it's post-COVID hiring issues or the incompetence of their bankrupt corporate parent Rite-Aid, but shopping or obtaining prescriptions from this store has turned into a nightmare over the past two years. It is always under-staffed, the shelves are half-empty of even common medications, and you need to allow at _least_ 45 minutes for any visit to the pharmacy due to the long lines and general slowness of the staff. I'm planning to move all my prescriptions to another pharmacy even though it's farther away. The extra driving time should be more than made up for by not needing to wait in the interminable lines here, especially since I need to go to another store what half the time to find basic medications. read more

This review is of the pharmacy. 4:15 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon in mid-August 2022. There is a long line snaking away from the pharmacy window. L: "It must be awful to be always short-shorted [on staff], especially on weekends, when it's the busiest." Pharmacy assistant: "We have one other person. But she's eating her lunch." ***** The Safeway pharmacy kitty-corner closed when the building was demolished. There are scheduling issues at this pharmacy. The pharmacy does close a half an hour every day from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. Several weeks earlier, there were only TWO staff persons working at the pharmacy (or was it only ONE person?), when often there are FIVE. I asked the pharmacist why this was. "We have one person taking a lunch break." This is a great little area to visit while in Seattle. Bartell's has 68 pharmacies which has serviced the North west for over 127 years. Their pharmacists have made a strong commitment to serving NW neighbors by providing individualized attention. Back in 1890, a 21 year old pharmacist opened his first of many Bartell's The cashiers were great, helpful and knowledgeable. We were able to purchase or items quickly with the help of the cashiers. This is for the Pharmacy not the store . Store is fine and the regular employee are nice. I usually get my prescription here they never get it on time. I always had problem filling part of my prescription. I am pregnant and I have gestational diabetics. I need insulin ASAP to control my fasting number. I tried calling many times but no one picks up. My doctor sent the prescription on Friday morning I went in on sat but the employee claimed my doctor didn't sent everything over and only syringe on files they also don't even have syringe. Why would my doctor sent syringe only? I have to wait till Monday to get syringes that I can get off Amazon immediately and I called my doctor they were shocked and said they did sent it over and they still won't freaking pick up the call . If I had type 2 diabetes I would be dead if I needed my insulin immediately. This also happened with my testing strip and other medications. Since those weren't urgent I didn't care much. If you don't need your medication ASAP and you can take your time maybe it works otherwise no. Please consider filing your urgent med else where even the other bartell in queen anne. I am not reviewing on the employee attitude everyone is nice but whatever system they have in place is horrible. Also why dose a pharmacy not have syringes in stock? please explain? If I didn't live in Queen Anne I would have gone to freaking cvs they never screw up omg. I might have to drive to Walmart to buy my overnight insulin over the counter. Ever since Bartells sold to Rite Aid - this store and pharmacy is a catastrophe. I've been in to make purchases and there not even been enough staff to retrieve the items I needed (behind the counter) only to be told I needed to come back another time. Today I had a prescription to be filled and went into the store twice to find a line so long at the pharmacy counter that it would have been 30-40 minutes just to get a prescription nasal spray. I went back 30 minutes later and it was still that long, with one person managing the customers and what looked like one pharmacist. This has happened several times and I'm just going to start relying on mail order prescriptions. Rite Aid has turned this pharmacy and store into failing giant franchise. This Bartells on upper Queen Anne is the worst store I have ever shopped in. The Pharmacy line runs 15-30 minutes no matter the time of day. When you ask for help you got an "I'm sorry" from managers and nothing more. Bartells used to be a great place and now it is at the bottom of the list with the worst performance possible. Twice this weekend I went to top of Queen Anne store and both times was very disappointe. 1st - went for a sinus decongestant (little red pill) and the entire shelf, all brands, was completely empty. 2nd - went for deodorant, shampoo and antacid. Shelf was completely empty for my Deodorant brand. Shampoo, no basic selection (just crazy scents) and nothing reasonably priced; not paying $16 for shampoo. I've been using the Upper Queen Anne Bartell pharmacy since the Safeway closed across the street and have found it unsatisfactory. Clearly, Rite Aid has not been putting money into this store, as the poor service shows. Wait times are always long to pick-up medicine. They do not add a person at the second register even when wait lines are snaking down the aisles. And the restroom is "out of order." The coup de grace was when they recently got the dosage wrong on a 'script I had been routinely getting there for months. Needless to say, I've moved my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Picking up takes 30+ mins and days to fill prescriptions. Now owned by Rite Aid, the Bartell Pharmacy - upper Queen Anne Ave (not the store) has slipped to a much lower level in service. They consistently do not have adequate staff to handle the same number of customers when it was owned by Bartell. There are almost always lines of at least 4 deep who are typically waited on by just one person behind the counter. Yes, Covid has put a strain on ALL pharmacies. However, Walgreens, CVS, Safeway, QFC, etc have managed to maintain consistent staff levels during the worse of times. There is no reason that Rite Aid can't do the same! And now the upper QA location is keeping minimal hours. They are closing at 6 PM during the week (that is the standard closing time Saturday and Sundays by law). So many in the neighborhood count on later evening hours to pick up their medication, If Rite Aid can't staff their pharmacies, they should not have acquired Bartell Drugs. And if they can't operate during normal business hours, they should close the stores so that another competing pharmacy can serve the community better. read more

for some reason, whenever I go in here with my Arab friend, one of the workers (no idea her name, she's fairly short though) follows us around. she acts like she is restocking or organizing, but it is very clear that she is just watching us. whenever I'm alone, she doesn't follow me. I don't know if this is racially motivated or something else, but it's very strange and stressful. My friend and I have never stolen or were disrespectful here, so I am not seeing the motivation. She's done this before to others, I saw her following a black girl around the store. I used to love bartells overall and used this location frequently. Once CVS bought Bartells this location has been pure hell. I have been over 5 times to pick up a prescription. The line is always at least 30 minutes long, twice they didn't have the prescription despite being notified it was ready for me to pick up, and the other times it wasn't ready but they'd do their best to get ready ASAP since I was out. After waiting 30 minutes it was not ready so I had to leave. Absolutely impossible to shop here. Today I went and they had closed the pharmacy early for some reason. I just went to the bartells on 1st ave n and they transferred and filled the prescription in less than five minutes. I will never go to this bartells again. read more

Worst pharmacy I have ever been to. Prescriptions take a minimum of 30-45 minutes to pick up even after they are already filled. They are rude to their customers and get flustered when it's not needed. Calling them is even worse, you have to call about 5-10 times just to get a person on the phone. When you call they will instantly put you on hold then hang up the phone without ever answering. If they ever do answer, they answer with a big attitude. I have had it with this pharmacy and will never return, highly advise against them. read more

I got some medication here and turns out it was pill-form and not something I could cut in half. Due to my mega-medication allergy, I have to be careful to be able to cut things. I asked the pharmacist if I could just open the capsule and put the contents into another. She said that was definitely not possible. I thought for sure she must be wrong because it doesn't seem like it would make a difference. (I've done this in the past without issue) I asked to speak to the manager and he said to make sure the medication is working, I'd need to call my doc and get the tablet so I could cut it. The capsules just wouldn't work to open. When I asked for a refund, he obliged and took back the pills. Some pharmacies would be major jerks about this but he was totally cordial.
