Looking for postcards in Seattle, Washington... I searched Target/CVS pharmacy nearby - in downtown - but couldn't find any. Since Walgreens was within sight, I decided to check it out. There were none in the greeting cards aisle and none near the souvenir t-shirts. I asked the Security Guard and he suggested Aisle 4... Nope. That's the beverage aisle. I thought that I should check Aisle 1 since I looked in every other aisle... Of course the post cards were there! The last place was the winner! I grabbed a bunch and waited in line to pay. The customers ahead of me didn't have their wallets out and one woman had questions about a gift card. I give these store clerks credit... challenging customers test your patience... LOL! I stopped by this Walgreens in downtown Seattle while on a business trip, and it was no bueno. I just needed to grab a couple of waters and an energy drink for me and a coworker on my way to the office. Seemed easy enough. But this store was almost empty. The shelves were bare; I was surprised to see so little stuff. I found water, but they didn't have the energy drink I wanted, so I had to get something else. That wasn't the only problem. There were two security guards who kept watching me as I walked around (even though I was wearing business clothes and clearly wasn't stealing anything). I get that security is important in the downtown areas of cities, but being followed while just trying to figure out what to get with the horrible selection felt weird and a little insulting. I had a backpack, but I didn't think I needed that much attention. On top of that, there were two guys doing drugs right in front of the store windows. I know the store can't control what happens outside, but it made the whole place feel really uncomfortable, especially at 9:00 in the morning. I know a lot of cities in the Pacific Northwest have problems with drugs, and some stores are still having trouble after the pandemic. But not even having basic things in stock, plus the security following me, and the drug use right outside made it a bad experience. This place gets one star, not just because of what was happening outside, but because they didn't even have the stuff I needed. It's a sad situation, and I hope it gets better. read more

Maybe it's the open air drug market in front of it. Or maybe it's the fact that the last 2 times I've gone they've been short staffed except for rent-a-security guards who don't seem to be securing much of anything. Maybe it was the appointment I made with the pharmacist for a vaccine and when I showed up the pharmacy was boarded up and there were 14 people waiting and the pharmacy assistant screamed "there's no pharmacist! Apparently one will eventually show up." Spoiler: they didn't. Or maybe it was today when I tried again to get a vaccine. I made an appointment, showed up early, checked in and there was so much spit on the plexiglass between me and the pharmacist that she was literally blurry. At one point an assistant made eye contact with me, made a gun out of her fingers and pretended to shoot her self in the head. So yeah - this place is a stain on the Walgreens brand and our downtown. I'd rather drive to another pharmacy than walk to this one on my neighborhood. read more

It was very uncomfortable, as the shopper was claiming she was being racially profiled. As a former Walgreens manager who worked many Rx shifts, I know how difficult it's been in pharmacies during and post-Covid. But I just had one of the absolute worst pharmacy and customer service experiences of my life while trying to get a vax. I arrived 15 minutes early with my form already filled out. I was going on my lunch break and hoped to be in-and-out, but I planned some flexibility if it was backed up. I approached the counter and asked how to check in, and a pharmacy tech named Bob curtly pointed to a QR code and said, "There. And then sit down and we'll call your name." I do as I'm told and sit in an area with other customers. By my appointment time, one of the other customers is gone and they're calling another. As I'm waiting, I can hear Bob arguing with others in line, mostly people who are just asking when their medication will be ready. One woman said that her medication was urgent and necessary, and that her doctor sent it in multiple days ago, yet the prescription is unfilled. She asked, "When will it be ready? Later today? Tomorrow?" Bob kept telling her there was simply no way to tell. When I worked there, if a customer waited that long and it was urgent, we would expedite it (all you have to do is reprint the Rx and put it on top of the pile) and say wait a few minutes. Where I send my meds now, they do that even with my not-urgent medication if I ask. But Bob kept telling her to just... come back at a random time and hope, I suppose? She wound up leaving after many minutes. Then it's 15 minutes after appointment time, and I figure maybe the pharmacist is filling some prescriptions quickly before my appointment or something. Bob is continuing to tell people to leave because their medications aren't ready. Finally, at 30 minutes after appointment time, I approached again and asked why it was taking so long. Bob says, "You didn't check in." I said yes, I did, you saw me scan the code. He said, "Then after that you were supposed to check in at the window." I said, no, you said scan the code and wait. You even pointed to the seating section. Another tech, Abraham, comes from the back and doubles down, saying they tell everyone that so it must be my fault. Then he goes, "Well, do you want your vaccines or not?" I do the vaccination with the pharmacist acting cold towards me the entire time. I've never had blood stream down my arm and almost onto my clothes during a routine shot as the pharmacist just watched before, but whatever. I asked to talk to a manager, and when they found a shift lead, Frank, I told him everything I said here. He just stared at me blankly and kept repeating, "Yikes, wow... that's a long time." I asked if I could speak to the store manager and was told she wasn't available. I called back later to try to reach her again. The shift lead that picked up, Raj, made me recount the entire story first only to interrupt me going, "Shut up, I'm going to talk now." I've never had a customer service person speak like that to me, ever. He told me that it was my fault for leaving because if I had spoken to a shift lead (I did) they could have helped me. I asked how they could have helped, and he said they would've made them give me the shot. When I told him I got my shot before leaving, he asked, "Then what are you complaining about?" Then he told me the SM was on site but he wouldn't "bother her" over me. I asked to leave my number to have her call me back and he flat out said no. I asked how to contact corporate then, and he refused to give me any information. Its hard to be one of the worst run establishments in downtown Seattle but kudos to them for managing it anyway. It's really a shame; I came here not just out of convenience, but because the Rx staff used to be kind, friendly, accommodating, and competent. I've gotten shots here 2-3 other times and was always met with warm, if exasperated, people doing their best and going out of their way for patients. I really wonder what happened, but in the mean time, I would not bother going here for anything. What a waste of time. read more

My partner and I moved to Seattle in February. We chose this pharmacy as our neighborhood pharmacy. It's been a challenging and frustrating experience over the past few months to say the least. Over the past few months it's become clear that the pharmacy support staff is consistently comfortable rolling their eyes at patients, talking down to us, avoiding accountability for mistakes, not answering their phone, and over all making the process of filling prescriptions uncomfortable and frustrating. Not only have I experienced these issues, but it's been sad to see so how many other people I've observed in line ahead of me with diverse abilities treated this way as well, often times worse. There is a younger gentleman who is usually working in the later afternoon who is particularly rude and difficult to work with as well as a pharmacist who seems to be comfortable treating her patients disrespectfully. My experience has been consistent across staff and across days of the week, which usually signals a leadership issue where this type of behavior is either acceptable or reinforced. The good new is, the Walgreens pharmacy on Denny Way is much friendlier and more professional, which is why I'll be switching to that location for my prescription needs. read more

Made a vaccine appointment a week ago. Came in for my appointment and the pharmacy tech (Summitview in Yakima, Wa) not only notifies me that they don't have the vaccine, but no pharmacist was present to administer it. She said I needed to call the day of the appointment to confirm if my requested vaccines are available. Nice and clean inside with a good wine and beer selection. But totally sketch on the outside, windows boarded up as it appears they were broken. Homelessness and drug use is just soaring down town Seattle which is super sad to see. A lot of loitering, trash and active shooting up. Don't get me wrong, I love addicts. Convenient downtown location, however situational awareness is required in this area and when approaching store. I dropped in yesterday for blade refills(Target was out of all their (one blade) etc refills) Once inside, you'll notice security almost immediately. The store is well lit, clean and well staffed. Both items required assistance from the staff(and the entire store is aware that you need assistance in "shaving" and "electronics" Again, well staffed, the wait time for assistance and at the register was minimal. I've been through some rough times with this Walgreens, so it's time for an update... I almost switched to another pharmacy over customer service issues. But I stuck around and the crew since then have been awesome. I haven't had any issues since my last review and it seems like it's an all new group of technicians and pharmacists behind the counter. I can even see the difference when I'm waiting and I see them interacting with other customers. They're more patient, caring, and understanding. And they're also way more communicative and efficient. I don't really deal with the cashiers downstairs much because I don't come here for snacks and such. And if I do, I cash out at the pharmacy when I pick up my prescription. So no notes about that experience. I also appreciate that they have security always on staff here. read more

I do not want to give 0 stars because I feel like the cashiers here do a very good job, the store is well stocked and has many more items than a lot of other Walgreens stores. But to be honest with you, I truly hope that this location closes for good! In the last month, the 3 times I've gone to this location, there has been a dramatic show, security vs. shoplifter! First of all, every time you give one of these people a "trespassing" they laugh in your face and come back again. The man had a duffle bag full of alcohol, and was trying to walk out of the store!? I avoided this Walgreens for a long time because I remembered it being gross, run-down, and dilapidated inside, even though I knew it had recently undergone a renovation. When I finally went inside to check it out, I was amazed! As far as downtown Seattle drugstores go, it's one of the nicest places to shop for cosmetics and beauty stuff -- nicer than the downtown Target, for sure. The ground level is more for your typical drugstore items, so it feels kind of special to take the escalator up to the second level. It's brightly lit and spacious with nice faux-wood floors and well-organized displays of brushes, bags, and other tools. There are lots of testers in each display, with tissues, sponges, and Q-tips so you can try things out. I also saw a consultation area, although it wasn't staffed when I was there. The fancy cosmetics area features brands like Cargo, Le Couvent des Minimes, Circa, Pur, Pop Beauty, 100% Pure, The Balm, and Boots. Regular drugstore brands like Revlon, Maybelline, Neutrogena, etc. are located in the aisles, but the inventory is still nicely organized and displayed on shelves. I saw a good selection of Essie and OPI nail polish, including some limited edition colors. There's a register located in the middle of the beauty department, so you can check out quickly upstairs. Downstairs, they have a selection of souvenir items and some food and drinks, including some cold sandwiches and snacks. They even have a fro-yo bar with lots of toppings to choose from (it's a flat price by the cup, not by the ounce, so you can really go to town loading it up)! If you're like me and remember how icky this Walgreens location used to be, you should stop in -- you'll be shocked at how much nicer it is now. This Walgreens deserves a review. It's the nicest one I've ever been to with 2 stories built-in to accommodate your shopping needs. Intimidating security guards are on active duty right by the front entrance, so be on your best behavior!! The first floor is spacious with a lot of offerings that a typical Walgreens store do not have! Going upstairs to 2nd floor is where you'll find the pharmacy, drugstore products, and beauty section. It is just as spacious and well organized on this second level too. It can get busy and crowded but multiple cashiers are there, so long lines move fairly quick. This Walgreens was surprisingly really clean and organized despite the heavy foot traffic. Super friendly staff. Always a pleasure. read more

More than 2 weeks ago I requested Walgreens transfer a prescription from OptumRx, because OptumRx said they do not stock the particular item. Walgreens told me they would take care of it and would notify me by phone. Not having heard back from Walgreens this past 2 weeks, I called today and waited in a phone queue for over an hour until I was connected. When I was connected, I could hear background talking, but nobody was responding to my repeated "hello" greetings. And then I was disconnected. Even though Walgreens was my favorite drugstore back home, I try to avoid this Walgreens cause it's small, the checkout line takes forever, most of the cashiers range from robotic to surly, and it's ghetto. Like there's always a police officer in the store -- ghetto. But this store is right by my bus stop so if I need something in a hurry on the way to/from work sometimes I gotta go in here. And a friend says the people at the pharmacy are real nice too. I do like that Walgreens always has a separate cosmetics register which can help you avoid the long checkout line. I do not like that over the last couple years the cashiers are required to ask you if you want whatever special (usually a crappy food item) they are featuring that week. This is on the bottom of my preferred drugstore list but I end up here once every few months or so. 2 Stars for the store plus one for location. They have an above-average selection of munchies! I'm used to seeing Popcorn, Indiana and/or Dale Thomas Popcorn on shelves, but they also had this new one I've not seen before called "Chip'ins". Definitely sounded like a healthier [and LIGHTER] snack! You have your potato chips, baked chips, pop chips and now chip'ins! Cool. It's true and unfortunate but the other drug store in the area - Bartell's - provides a much better shopping experience. In this Walgreens there are armed security guards around, which tells you something. They recently renovated this store (as of August 2015). My husband had his passport photos taken at this Walgreens a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the Canadian passport agency rejected them due to shadows. So, my husband returned again to re-take them--and again, they were rejected due to glare. Each time we sent the photos, it cost us $50 in shipping charges in addition to the passport photo costs. I called Walgreens to complain as two sets of photos getting rejected didn't seem to be the best customer service. The store manager Markus heard me out, flagged the situation to the district manager and not only refunded us for the 2 sets of rejected photos, but also for the shipping charges. This is the worst pharmacy with the most inept pharmacists and staff. They deliberately don't answer their phones. Mihn, one of the pharmacist, is completely rude and will outright argue with customers. They mess up on controlled prescriptions and forget to contact the doctor for refills. It happens over and over. They also overcharged me for months using my GoodRx card and would not admit to it. i wish I could give her a negative -5 star rating. terrible service. read more

This place is conveniently located in downtown. It's a large store, looked fairly clean. The patrons don't necessarily all look so clean. Came in just for water and some rubbing alcohol. The water - worked out great, bought a couple of gallon containers with handles so they could be carried around town getting back to the hotel. Worst customer service ever! The other day, I bought two different items but the lady at cashiers scanned double times on 1 item and didn't scan the other one. It turned out I was charged $6.61 more than the actual price. I couldn't come back to the store until 6 days later because I was so busy . When I brought the items back and tried to make it right, the cashier acted like I was lying and try to make up the story to take money from them, which made me feel so upset. He then called the manager to solve the problem. The manager came and got to know the problem, and he said that he couldn't sure if I was telling the truth because it's been 6 days since I bought the stuffs, and based on the receipt, he couldn't do anything for me. Alright, I could understand and tried to let it go. When I was about to leave the store, the manager offered me a refund of $6.61 as he hoped to deal with the problem and made everyone happy. However, when the manager left, the cashier called me back and wouldn't let me take that $6.61. I was speakless. I wish I had not come back to make it right. I would rather lost the money than incur their contempt. I was so upset and disappointed leaving the store without my money back. Wasted of my time and got nothing but disappointment. I am giving this Walgreens 5 Stars because of one employee I was watching when I was waiting for a return. Her name was Terry and while I was waiting there for the guy to come refund my money for a purchase I was observing Terry. I have to say that I have never before seen anything like it. She wasn't like the average cashier who yells: "NEXT"! when her customer left and the next customer in line was up. She was like: "Next! Hello Beautiful!". "Hi Sweetheart!" etc. Like she was living in some sort of weird happy world the rest of us couldn't see. She even tried to flirt with someone's baby in a stroller and the kid was not impressed. "Hello little miss piggy!" (the kid had her hair in pig tails). Now, when I try and make babies laugh I take it very personally when they do not. Not Terry! She just shrugged, laughed it off, looked up to see who was next, and called out "Next! Hello Gorgeous!" Oh my god. Terry should be a concierge. She lifted my spirits just observing her. "Next! Hey Darlin'!" PS- I'm pretty sure the name is Terry, but it was something that ended in a "y" and I thought it was peculiar that it did not end in an "i". Anyway, give Terry a raise. read more
