There was a lot left to be desired with this experience. We arrived for our 8:00 AM reservation, and it was pretty clear the staff had also barely just arrived. Our boat wasn't ready, and we didn't get launched until after 8:30 AM. The young guy helping us was nice enough, but he could really benefit from moving with a little more purpose. He still had to clean the boat, grab the safety flag, and initially told us he couldn't technically launch us because he had only worked there for a month and a half... even though he ended up launching us anyway. At one point, there were three deckhands working on tying up one floatie for another reservation while we were still waiting. Have we heard of delegating tasks? The boat itself was also disappointing because it was not the boat shown in the photos online. I reserved the Canyon Comforter based on the photos, so that was frustrating. Not having the lounger and table was disappointing and the cushions were torn up. I even took a second look to see if they were just using stock photos, but each boat listing appears to have different photos, so it didn't seem like a generic image situation. To be fair, the safety instructions were solid, and the kid explained things well. However, he talked about the anchor multiple times, and then when we were finally ready to anchor, there was no anchor on the boat. Luckily, it was a calm day and we found a cove without much wake, otherwise that would have been extremely frustrating. When I told the woman up front about the missing anchor after we got back, she said the person who gave us the safety information should have taken a photo before launching us. So I guess after a month and a half of working there, that part still hasn't made it into the training manual. Thankfully, the boat ride itself was smooth, and we still had a wonderful Father's Day with the family. But between the late launch, the boat not matching the photos, missing equipment, and general lack of organization, this experience was definitely not worth the cost. read more

Had a great time with our grandsons on a day that was close to 100 degrees. Our boat was old and not as fast as we would have liked for tubing. However, the experience of boating on Lake Pleasant was priceless. The staff was so helpful and courteous. Luckily, the water temperature wasn't too terrible for late March which allowed us to swim. Couldn't believe how clear the water was. Would definitely do this again. read more

First of all the staff was great! However, the company needs to inject some immediate capital into the business and overhaul the engines or replace them. First boat after an hour had to be towed in. Towing and chaning boats took an hour. Second boat ran, barely, and we still couldn't get it to full power with serious cavatation issues. Hiring great staff members that have to put up with angry customers because of the companies lack of maintenance isn't a good business model. 5 stars employees, -0 stars company equal 2 stars. read more

The Pontoon Boat we rented was in terrible shape beat up all over. Big safety risk in the front and back gates had the stop missing , doors swung open and closed . Would be very dangerous if you had small children in the boat. I'm guessing that this boat was at least 10 years old. read more

The price was comparable to other lakes in the area. 1st The boat was rated for 10, we only had 8 and it was tight. 2nd It was advertised with a stereo, when we arrived it turns out the stereo on our boat was broken (completely missing) so they gave us a small speaker to use. When you have weak/no signal, your phone is a sorry replacement for a stereo. 3rd the 12 volt lighter accessory plug didn't work either and we didnt' find that out until we were out of range to call anyone. We didn't get to use our pull behind raft as our 12v inflator pumps wouldn't work because of that and the foot pump we carried would make it too difficult to inflate. 4th it topped at 16 MPH...not a great speed for a pull behind. Overall, I wouldn't rent there again unless I was given full details on all those things so I could come prepared. Turned it in an hour early because there just wasn't enough to do without our inflatables. read more

They forget to put an anchor on the boat wasting an hour of our rental and then the motor started jumping around and we had to get towed back to the dock for an hour limping bouncing around on the water. Had we not had the anchor that we spent an hour obtaining not been on board this could have been a very serious safety situation. I asked them about the anchor before I started the rental and they told me it was on the ship and under the seat. Not a single apology and they offered to refund half of the rental fees. Maybe you should maintain your boats better and not forget things like anchors on your rentals. Save your $500 and go with a better company that cares about their service. read more

We had a lovely day on the lake but unfortunately the boat we were given, Althea, wasn't great. Before we left we noticed the rear gate didn't close. Some of the chair cushions were no longer attached to the base, we found that out by the sharp hinges sticking out from the base. Thankfully we realised before any of us cut our legs. We also tried to phone back to the office, but got no answer. A serious concern, had we had an emergency. As 5 responsible adults, we made sure none of these issues spoiled our day. read more

I was nervous seeing some of the bad reviews after I'd already reserved a boat, but personally I had a wonderful experience with this company. Everything was seamless from the shuttle, to checking in & out. Staff was friendly and awesome. My main concern after reading reviews was what the condition of our boat would be. On a scale of great, good, fair, or bad, I'd give it a "good" rating. There were a couple small things that could stand to be repaired, but nothing that got in the way of us enjoying our time. No issues getting our full deposit back, and gas was only $20 upon return (we only stayed out about 2 hours). I'll definitely rent with them again. read more

We have rented from pleasant harbor boat rentals a few times. Boats are older but work for a day. This last rental experience was not the best. Our boat didnt have a speaker, the anchor rope was not long enough to anchor in party cove. The boat had numerous spiders. One nest inside the center console. The worst part was that as we were leaving to head back to the marina at the end of the day our battery wouldnt start. Took us 30 min to get it started. We were a bit late to return the boat to the marina. I tried to call the number provided on the boat, but since no one on our boat had service in that area, we could not reach anyone. Which that makes it difficult to communicate. We all have different service providers as well, and no one has service out there. Upon arrival, we met the manager, i think his name was manny? He was nice and courteous. He told us he would contact us regarding our experience. We did not hear from him for a few days, so we called and was told we would get a call back. We did not get called back, so we called again. We spoke to another manager, not the same one we met, but he was very rude. We have rented before and had absolutely zero reason to lie about the battery. We were only 5 min past 5pm on returning so to lie about the battery not working would not be worth it. Said "first of all we check all of our boats batteries. It shouldn't have been under 12 volts" "2nd we don't advertise boats to have sound systems" Looked at the boats descriptions on their website... and they sure do advertise a stereo and aux port on their boats. In specifically the shady lady. If you rent the shady lady, please be aware. No speaker or aux port. False advertising and management isnt aware they even advertise that. With all that being said, the manager did refund 20% of our reservation, we just had to work very hard for it and defend our experience. We rented the pontoon boat named Kingfisher for the day. The engine starter didn't work. The guys at the boat rental looked at it and dusted it up to saying the kill switch needs to be firmly put into place or the engine starter won't work. I wish I insisted on switching boats. The boat didn't have a ladder for those who wanted to go swimming in the lake and how to get into the boat. Few of us got our legs or foot cut by trying to climb back into the boat. The boat didn't have an anchor either for when we wanted to "park" the boat off in some cove area. Then the ignition starter wouldn't work when it was time for us to head back to the boat rental at the end of the day. I tried to text the boat rental emergency line, my phone was out of signal too. Come on guys. Replace that damn ignite switch. You don't want to piss off the next rental customers. read more

Boating on Lake Pleasant has been a goal/to-do of mine since moving to Phoenix awhile ago. It's super helpful if you know someone who has a slip and boat... but there are numerous of us who do not. A bunch of friends decided to rent a pontoon for the morning over the summer. I had never organized anything before, so I went along with the plans. We had the AM rental time, and about an hour into our adventure, were hopeful to extend thru the afternoon. Unfortunately we could not get ahold of anyone at the rental office to confirm/deny if that was available. We did not have phone connectivity issues reaching the office, they literally just did not pick up the phone. Super frustrating. So we drove back and were told that it wasnt available which was a bummer. And they weren't apologetic about not picking up the phone. However, those who went all had a great (brief) time, which set us up for a return trip to the lake... allbeit a much longer trip! About 5 weeks later, we rented 2 Pontoons all day for ~20 of us, to celebrate my birthday and another friend's last weekend in Phoenix (before moving). I took the lead on organizing and setting up the reservation. Highly recommend calling ahead of time and setting the reservation on the phone to confirm what pricing is. What they won't include is gas, which is paid for upon returning of the boats. If anyone in your group or you are active/retired military, there's a slight discount. We arrived promptly on time but were delayed about 30min from kicking off due to the staff... not sure what all they were doing to the boats to prep them. The staff is fairly young, but I wish they weren't so lacksadasical about their job. FYI - Pontoon rentals are super popular in Phoenix, even in the peak of summer. The air temp may be hot, but the water will be uber refreshing. Set your reservation out as far as possible. Full payment is due at the time of reservation, and you can cancel within about 72 hours of your reservation and get your $ back (check on that with the confirmation email). Have a drink or a snack at the bar dock if you arrive early or have nothing else to do after. Tip the golf cart drivers who transport you to/from the parking lot, and have cash for the $7 parking lot fee. read more

The whole experience was fun and easy to book. Great shuttle service from parking lot to the dock.... however they charge you for the gas the boat used. I have rented boats before and never have I been charged for fuel. We spent alot of money for a pontoon and jet ski and and extra $37 for fuel. Not terrible but I never saw it stated anywhere on their website. It wasn't until I booked and received confirmation email that contained that information. So the pontoon has a 40 gallon tank if you drive the boat all day and empty the tank, that an additional $200+ to replace the fuel. We almost rented at another lake but none of their pontoons had a full cover for the sun so we luckily switched our plans. We rented Shaggy - one of the pontoon boats and added the raft. This was our first trip to the marina. The staff was very helpful when I called with questions before booking and everyone at the marina was very friendly & helpful on our rental day. We had the early rental slot so we parked right next to the shuttle station. It was very convenient to get all our stuff to the boats and the shuttle drivers were also very friendly. Shaggy is in very good condition. Can't speak for any of the other boats. The lake wasn't too crowded so we had a lot of fun. read more

An extra golf cart for the shuttle would have been nice. The boat picture of the 22' Pontoon Caddy showed a brand new boat. Hardly the case. Underneath the seats storage area needs to be cleaned out. The boat listed an anchor but we didn't have one. The crew ran one out to use. The anchor doesn't hold the boat so you need to keep someone on board to move the boat. We had ropes tied up to the boat for people to hold onto; easy to get separated from the boat. Really need more seating in the back of the boat so it doesn't take in water. No depth finder on the boat. In 2023, we rented the Boat Barge Simpson. The back padded area before the back gate was broken making it difficult to help the tuber and be a spotter. They really need to fix their boats. read more

They were so awesome! Email advised us to arrive 20 minutes early. We got there at 7:30am and they let us take the boat out a bit early. We ran out of gas and we're stranded and they came out and rescued us and made sure we made it back okay. Best experience I have had with a boat rental company! If this is your first time, bring some cash for parking and some extra to get a ride down to the doc (it's a far walk otherwise). Have some left to tip your driver! After doing extensive research on where to rent our pontoon boat for family day out, I chose Pleasant Harbor over Scorpion Bay Marina despite negative reviews. The main reason being that the boat at Pleasant Harbor had full Bimmi shade and Scorpion Bay did not. We rented a 24ft pontoon boat and had a choice of boat names. I chose Althea as it was a family name. That being said we were not out on the water for more the 15 minutes and an extensive amount of water started to pour in, wetting much of our belongings. We notified the marina that we were bring the boat back for an exchange. When we returned it was noted that the boat was missing a fin and also that the upholstery was torn as well. I was pretty upset due to the inconvenience and not listening to the reviews that said just that, but we needed the shade. We were greeted at the marina from very accommodating fellows and the switch was made. It was 2:00 by the time we got restarted. Loosing approx. one hour. All in all, we had a great time! The next day I called the marina and spoke with the manager, Joey who was accommodating and offered a 20 percent discount. That was very nice, but the boats need to be updated and checked better. We will probably go back to Pleasant Harbor but not rent Althena. read more

Second time we rented a pontoon from this company, first rental was awesome, second time not so good because of the condition of the boat. Radio broken, no horn for safety reasons. No labels on any buttons or switches on the control panel. Storage panel under the control system fell completely off while we were loading. Reserved a Pontoon boat Sunday night online for Monday morning and everything was ready to go right when we got there! The check-in process was super easy and they had all sizes of life vests available, even down to infant. We were thoroughly impressed because the boat we reserved the night prior had been in an accident the day before so they upgraded our reservation with a better boat and threw in a tube. Also the required refundable deposit was removed from our card within two days of the rental. No issues at all. The boat was in great condition and after four hours of tubing we only paid $50 in gas. Definitely competitive prices, esp for the ease of everything. It was the best day on the lake!! We can't wait for our next rental! read more

Rented a pontoon boat midweek. Great experience - checkin was easy, staff friendly and helpful both then and at return time. The boats do need some tlc though as wear and tear is obvious. We experienced no problems mechanically (never have), but seats had tears, gates wouldn't lock and needed tying up etc. Still cheaper than owning one, but a bit of money invested to keep the fleet looking nice would be wise. read more

Online reservations were easy, as was taking care of online waiver forms etc. Parking for Pleasant Harbor is quite a distance from the water, but they are quite efficient sending directions for parking and the complimentary trams that are continually running from parking lot to the dock. Checking in at the dock office was also efficient and easy. Our pontoon boat was clean, we were given clear guidance on operations and also assistance with the canopy before leaving the dock. There was always someone watching to help with getting into and out of the slip and at the gas station, which was much appreciated. The only negative: when we were getting instructions on the boat operation, it was discovered that the trim was not working. I would have expected that the motor/prop would have been checked before we arrived. (Can't take a fraction of a star away...) Lucky for us our captain was experienced so was careful to navigate without too much worry. We had a great time on the lake and would rent from Pleasant Harbor again. read more

My overall experience with our pontoon boat on Pleasant Lake was great, boat was perfect size, tubing was a blast. Boat was in need of some little repairs, Bimini top had an unsecured bar, it was flapping around, and the ladder to get in from the water had very loose screws that secured it to the boat, had to continually tighten by hand. The check-in process was a little slow, I was there at 7:45am, was supposed to have the boat at 8am, finally got checked out around 9am, so that was a problem, assume its related to not enough personnel showing up for work on time is what it seemed like. read more
